Soggy sour toast not enough butter sat beside people we didn't know I don't think they were happy either and an owner who just didn't care when approached.

This cafe is now called Crema and is unfortunately under new management. It has taken over the fixtures and fittings from the Yellow door which needed updating and cleaned. This was our second visit. The first was marred by the owner arguing with a member of staff that they had run out of food that we had ordered which was not the case. We did get what we ordered with much eye rolling from other members of staff. The food was okay but not to the Yellow Door standard. Today we went in as a party of three and were shown to a long table capable of sitting six. We sat down and whilst looking at the menu two complete strangers were shown to our table and sat down beside us. We immediately went up to the waitress who had seated us. She looked very embarrassed and stated that the owner had asked for them to be seated there. I asked for the owner and asked him why complete strangers had been placed at our table! He mumbled something through his face mask. I asked him again and he again mumbled while sprawling across the counter. There seemed to be something wrong with his legs. The other members of staff looked very embarrassed. I pointed out that COVID was still rife and he was obviously concerned about himself as he was wearing a mask but was not concerned about his customers health . He was so inept and clumsy that he was unable to offer a solution which would have been to offer the two gentlemen the next available table. He was rude and no apology was offered. We have never before come across a situation where we sit down for a meal and are joined by complete strangers especially in a pandemic. We will not be back.

Dropped in here for breakfast recently while waiting to have a puncture fixed nearby. Have enjoyed a few visits in the past when the restaurant was under a different name. The displayed food looked good. Ordered and paid for bacon, fried eggs and sourdough toast with a large Americano - £9.50. Not cheap, and no refills even for filter coffee. The one slice of bacon added £2 to the price; a sausage would have added the same again. Coffee came fairly quickly - large, wide cup, most likely not heated before the coffee went in, as the thick cold porcelain very soon overwhelmed the warm liquid. Food arrived maybe 10-15 minutes later. One slice of (good) bacon and two fried eggs, with two slices of sourdough toast and a little aluminium tin with a small cube of butter in it sitting on one of the eggs. Lifting it off (hoping the bottom had been washed) brought with it some of the egg white which wasn’t cooked and which dropped onto the table. Sourdough bread needs to be toasted or baked lightly, otherwise your teeth suffer. This was like chewing cinders - and the little cube of butter covered less than half of one slice. Bad choice of toast, which was my fault, but since it was one of the options, should have been done better. Staff were friendly and helpful, if extremely noisy throughout, but couldn’t make up for the poor food or value. Unfortunately, whatever happened to the previous restaurant to change it into a Maud’s hasn’t turned out well so far.

What has happened to what was an amazing eatery? Cooked breakfast, the bacon was limp, greasy, not dry and crispy. Cheap tasteless and not as described. Tesco cafe better bacon. The sausage was not freshly cooked and thrown into the deep fat fryer overcooked and served blackened. Lasagne to go was tasteless, and I gave the chicken and ham pie to the dog as it was utterly disgusting. The coleslaw was not crunchy and mainly mayo. What on earth has happened here? Lost for words quite frankly.

I haven't been in he in a couple of years and yesterday my husband and I called in as we were shopping nearby.. We arrived in and stood at the "wait to be seated sign" there was a waiter clearing a table nearby who made eye contact but never spoke or tried to find us a table he just continued clearing the table. Meanwhile another waiter who was serving another customer told us he would be with us in a moment, then another waiter appeared from the back area, he came over and took us to our seats. We both order the Yellow Door Signature fry and I asked for no egg with mine. Normally when I am in any cafe or restaurant when I say I don't want any egg they always ask would I like an extra item (sausage, mushrooms, toast etc) instead. However I wasn't asked here. Our tea and coffee arrived and about 10 minutes later our orders arrived. To call it a Yellow Door Signature fry I personally would have been embarrassed. The fry was warm, certainly not hot. The one sausage was slightly undercooked, the 2 bacon rashers were burnt and crispy, the one signal mushroom was about the size of a 10p, although on a positive note the potato bread, wheaten bread and tomato were grilled nicely. My husband are my bacon as he likes it crispy, but he too thought the fry was edible but definitely nothing great about the food. At £6.99 for a Signature fry it was disappointing. We paid for or breakfasts at the till, wasn't asked if everything was OK and left. Definitely wouldn't go back there again for breakfast, overall a disappointing experience with customer service ( or lack of) and disappointed with quality & portion of food.

I visit occasionally for breakfast. Their sausage, bacon & egg bap is one of my favourites and today, tried their poached eggs & smashed avocado on sourdough toast....was delicious! Lovely friendly staff. Service has always been good and food is reasonably quick to come out after ordering. Their menu might seem a bit pricey for some as they’re not the cheapest but food is nice. Good coffee too. Will be back again next week with the hubby.

This is a local family favourite - and to be fair - usually excellent - food and service. Christmas Eve calling in for lunch was dreadful (both food and service). Given menus with no explanation of what was or was not available- then having chosen as we ordered our way through 4 consecutive choices - , breakfast, beef sandwich, prawn sandwich, and brie sandwich - we are told NONE of these 4 were available. Settled for a croissant with goats cheese- then 5 minutes later- they told us no croissants either. Two of our party chose from the limited remaining choices- one ordered garlic chips. Latte arrived cold, no ice for a lukewarm drink, ordinary chips (not garlic) arrived 5 minutes after other main courses- and then we were charged for garlic chips. No apology, no attempt to compensate, Confusion reigned among staff about what was and was not availably

Stopped for breakfast this morning. I must say we were extremely disappointed. Staff were nice enough but service was slow. All would be forgiven if the breakfast was good but alas this was not the case. We ordered a bacon sandwich which was ok although the bacon was not cooked consistently ( one bit pale and fatty ) the other bit overly crisp The small breakfast was a bad joke . Dreadful presentation, unattractive looking food not great. I know it’s only breakfast but doing it properly doesn’t really take any more effort. Won’t be back

We visited as a family and had 4 hot meals at lunch which were poor and tasted bland. We had to wait over 30 minutes for our order to be taken and then another 15 minutes for food to arrive. The cafe was only half full and appeared to have plenty of staff but they tended to avoid eye contact. I wish I had followed my instincts to leave and go somewhere else when the surly waitress told us she needed to clear a table first before taking our order and took 10 minutes to come back - I asked if we could order after already waiting 20 minutes. She then cheekily asked if we were ready to order yet when she eventually came back! Pity as the cafe looks nice but food is not up to par at all for example my daughter said the sausages tasted cheap and bacon was cold. The service is even worse. Expensive too- £35 for four poor meals. We will not be back.

On a recent visit to Lisburn (my first!) my husband and I had a light lunch in the Yellow Door. We had a speciality sandwich on Ciabbata brea each and a carrot and passion fruit pastry (modest in size) each along with tea and coffee. The food was very fresh and tasty. Service was very friendly and the restaurant was clean, bright and airy. Our bill was just under £25 (about €27) which we thought was expensive for what we got albeit that the standard of food was quite good. For us "southerners" we find that the UK in general is quite expensive for eating out. There was a large blackboard on display on the wall which had a map of Ireland that identified the source of all the products used in the restaurant ....very commendable! Except.....it was stated that Cashel Blue Cheese came from Cork when in fact it is made in Tipperary as Cashel is a town in that county. I didn't point out the error there and then as I wanted to check it out first and was nearly doubting my geographical knowledge or I thought that maybe that cheese is made in Cork??? I'm sure that error can be corrected as chalk was used (winky emoji needed here) on the board.

Just left your cafe in Lisburn minutes ago. I am absolutely disgusted with the service and food myself and grandmother received. Firstly we walked in waited 5 minutes to be seated even though 3 waitresses were walking around and saw us and didn’t even acknowledge us. Finally sat down they seemed to forget we were there had to ask to be served after ten mins of sitting waiting. Asked for the soup of the day which the sign said tomato they said no it’s actually potato and leek. So ordered the mushroom wellington without the salad (came out with the salad anyway). My granny ordered the sausage rolls there was none left. So she ordered a scone which was inedible to be honest. Her food came out first I had to wait an additional five minutes to receive mine which I eventually had to ask for. Really getting annoyed at this stage. The food I received looked like a dogs dinner, part of it was literally just pastry with nothing inside it, he rest was gloopy and disgusting looking smothered in cheese, which it doesn’t say on the menu it comes with cheese or I would have ordered without. Couldn’t bear to take one bite from it it was disgusting so got up to leave. It was obvious we weren’t happy with the experience and we were charged £9.80!!!!! I left hungrier than when I arrived! Service is absolutely shocking and I will advise anyone to avoid. I’m disgusted that we were charged for that.

Arrived at 11.40 and asked was breakfast still being served, chef was passing our table and said no. Given a menu of basically sandwiches but noticed a specials board showing soup or chicken goujon and chips. Waitress returned at 11.50 to take our order 2 sandwiches and the chicken goujon special but told us that the specials didn't start until 12noon. So my granddaughter sat without any food while we had the sandwiches. When leaving we noticed a lunch menu had been added showing a variety of dishes including a fry which we had asked about when we arrived. Maybe the waitress when we arrived should have suggested a coffee or tea while waiting on the lunch menu starting and it would have been a far better review from me than paying £22 for 2 sandwiches tea and a coke!

Called in here with mum on Saturday for a quick lunch before going on to another appointment. We arrived in at 1pm and the place was reasonably busy, waited a few minutes to be seated. The server came over and told us she would clear a table for us and the table would be ready in a few minutes, it was and we were seated. We got our menus at 1.05 pm and ordered a few minutes later. The tea we ordered was delivered with a few minutes and then waited for our lunch... and waited.... and waited. At 1.40pm our lunch arrived, I had the daily special, chicken salad which was OK, but rather bland and definitely not worth £6.99. Mum had the soup and sandwich combo, she thought the soup and sandwich was OK but nothing special. We quickly are the food as we only had 15 minutes to eat the lunch and get it our 2pm appointment. I understand making food can take a bit of time and I don't mind waiting a reasonable time, but waiting over 30 minutes for a bland lunch here just isn't worth it.

My fiancée and I entered the cafe at around 3pm. The cafe had little custom. We weren't greeted as we entered and had to ask a member of staff for a table and menu. We explained that we were in a rush, as we were both on a 30 minute lunch break. We also requested that our food would be served at the same time. Once we finished our lunch, we asked to pay the bill and proceeded to the till. After looking at the receipt, the lunch had totalled £18.37. My fiancée and I looked at each other in total disbelief, as we had only ordered a tuna ciabatta (the filling was pre made and I couldn't request my own filling), as well as two chocolate brownies and two bottles of coke. This left us in shock as my fiancée only had a brownie and a drink. To pay nearly £20 for a sandwich, two brownies and two bottled drinks is absolutely extortionate! We will never be back due to the ridiculous prices. These items should not have cost any more than around £10-£12. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone and this is down to the overpriced menu. The staff were pleasant, but the lunch was average and the price left a sour taste in our mouth.

There are a lot of coffee and sandwich shops in lisburn and yellow door manages to stay consistently amongst the best and has consistent food quality.Being more of a snack venue than a just coffee shop, they have an excellent sandwich menu with other hot / cold items available. Their soup and sandwich combinations are an excellent choice. Coffee is fairly normal but they deserve Suki brand teas which are good. They serve mostly Irish sourced ingredients and big slices of rustic speciality breads.A bit more expensive than others, ambience let's it down a bit but a good choice.

I really begrudge leaving a bad review for somewhere that serves good food but the Yellow Door has inflated prices especially on drinks.Don't get me wrong, the sandwiches are fantastic and the soup is very tasty, I have also sampled the breakfasts which themselves are very nice although over priced for what you get.The negative for breakfast is that it costs £6.99 for a relatively small portioned fry and there's no value for money and no real difference in taste from what you can buy elsewhere.I would recommend you don't but a soft drink here, the last time I went it was £2.50 for a coke which is a normal bottle you'd get anywhere with just a vastly inflated price.

We have used this restaurant for breakfast and lunch on many occasions - it is a little over priced but generally the standard is reasonable. My wife and I called in for a late breakfast on 25th October - being regular customers we were aware that the breakfast service finishes at 11.30am and we arrived a couple of minutes before that. I enquired if we were still ok for breakfast and was told that breakfast service had finished. I pointed out that it wasn't yet 11.30 and was bluntly and curtly informed that breakfast had stopped. The member of staff then informed me that there was an all day breakfast on the lunch menu and we agreed to go for that only to be informed that it would not be available until midday and we could have a coffee and kill half an hour until then. We took our business elsewhere. A little courtesy and flexibility go a long way and we are two regular customers who will not be back.

We ordered some sandwiches and few drinks between us reasonably priced but the quality/presentation/taste really everything about the sandwiches wasn't nice so we ordered few buns to take away the were very stale and weren't nice. Use really need to improve on basic food especially sandwiches and stock rotation all the best forThe future tho.

We had not eaten here for a while, having moved away from Lisburn. It was late lunch time and we were greeted promptly and given a choice of table. My wife had an Open Prawn sandwich while I went for the Line Caught (really?) Tuna with lemon and mayo. A little disappointed they did not have any brown bread left but the food was good and we enjoyed our meal. The toilets were grubby with paper all over the floor and no hand towels. The flagship yellow doors on the toilets were shabby and repainting is long overdue. I know they might have been busy over lunch but this is not good. The Yellow Door needs to up its game.

I visited this restaurant for lunch. I waited a long time to be served, in fact I was just getting up to leave when a waitress eventually came and took our order. I regret placing an order because I then had to wait 40 minutes for a sandwich and chips which by the way were cold when they arrived. Then when I went to pay for my meal I was ignored at the tills so that was another waiting game. we were made feel totally invisible. I would definitely not recommend this place if you want a friendly welcome.

Have eaten here for lunch twice and both times the food was very nice. The bread really fresh and sandwiches are very nice. Thought the service could have been better, the girl serving me didn't seem to interested and wasn't very helpful. I asked did they have soya milk for my coffee and got a very blunt reply (They don't do soya milk if anyone if wondering) the setting could be nicer, it just looks like a bit of a bland cafe and I think this really let's the place down as the food is very good.

It's some time since I visited the Yellow Door in Lisburn and only on my own. This morning I came for breakfast with my wife, sister-in-law, son and his partner. The decor is fairly bland for this "upmarket" restaurant but it was clean and uncluttered.Hygiene seemed to be good and tables were cleared promptly.Service when ordering was good but the time taken to provide same was longer than expected. The food was excellent although the toast slices were a little thicker than usual. The Maple Syrup provided with my French Toast was cold (unusually) - but was heated at my request. My portion of grilled bacon was smaller than usual - and only about two thirds the size that was provided with my son's "Ulster Fry".Waitresses were very attentive and pleasant. Only around one third of the restaurant was occupied (early on a Saturday morning) - yet "back-house" service was slow.Comfortable soft seating is provided for Coffee clients but the majority of seating is on hard, unpadded, wooden chairs. If it was a little less expensive I would frequent it more often - but there are a number of cheaper, good service, competitors in Lisburn.Recommended for coffees and for special occasions.

Clean no cluttered interior. Friendly staff with a good variety on the menu. Service was quick & the sandwiches came quickly. One sandwich would have done 2 people with no scrimping on the filling. Worth a return visit.

My daughter, her 2 year old daughter and myself visited the Yellow Door for a cup of afternoon tea. I had lemon drizzle cake which did not taste of lemon, my granddaughter had a cup cake with the most awful tasting cream, My daughter had to remove the cream, neither her nor I could have eaten it. When my daughter said about it at the till the reply was "I am sorry you didn't enjoy it". We paid £12 for the most awful cup of tea I have ever had.

While the food was good and the coffee wonderful, the staff were busy. It was a little expensive and portions aren't huge to justify it. Will be back as a treat though.

This is a very popular spot for lunch, particularly on Saturdays. Consistently good food, locally sourced. Coffee is good. Staff helpful. Worth waiting in the queue if it is not too long!

2 sausage baps and 2 coffees to take away cost almost £14! When I asked the lady if she could check the bill I was told "it is the yellow door you know" . It's one yellow door I'll not be crossing again. Food was just ok, but over priced.

Took my Dad to Lisburn for a spot of Menswear shopping. Having been through the Bow St Mall we headed up Market Square. On the way back down, we popped into the Yellow Door for what was initially, a cup of coffee but decided to make it lunch instead. I had toasted sandwich with potato wedges, Dad had soup of the day. The order took a while but staff were very friendly & efficient. Food was good. Funny thing was when I went to pay the bill, there was a young lad, about 9, standing on a stool, taking instruction from, possibly his Mum, on how to take payment & give change. Early Business Learning I'll say. Yellow Door is a bright, busy café, family run I reckon.

I visited here today with my mum. I had the club sandwich on ciabatta ( they had no other bread left) I had thought about ordering half a sandwich ,but I ended up ordering a full one. It was huge! For 8.99 for a toasted sandwich it is expensive. However it was very tasty. The suki tea was lovely. The jacket potatoe my mum had was fine. Overall a good experience if a little pricy.

When the Yellow Door first came to Lisburn it was my favourite place! However, on a few occasions I’ve felt a little let down. The first was when I was waiting for a friend for lunch – the waitress asked for my order and I asked if I could have a few minutes as my friend was just parking. The waitress abruptly replied ‘order now or not at all as the kitchen is closing in 10 minutes’. I decided not at all on that occasion and took my costume elsewhere. However, I decided to give Yellow Door a second chance – my friend and I enjoyed many lunches and coffees there. However, over time we noticed to prices were going up and the portions/quality going down. We were regulars and did mention this on one occasion to staff – we were informed that portion sizes had not reduced they had simply reduced the size of their plates?! The last time I ate in there we decided to share a sandwich, ordered fruit tea and a tray bake each. The sandwich really lacked filling (which is usual as their sandwiches are usually so big), the tray bakes tasted stale. The bill came to over £20 – I did query this and we had indeed been charged for a sandwich each – even with the bill reduced I still felt that the food was really lacking compared to the price. I have given the Yellow Door many chances now but sadly won’t be back which is a shame.

I had breakfast in the Yellow Door, Lisburn, just after 9am today. Met by Karen, waitress, almost immediately and was shown to a table. My order was taken promptly and tea, hot water and milk was provided while I waited for my hot breakfast. This was served very promptly, within five minutes - ( a freshly grilled gourmet sausage, grilled bacon and an appropriately fried egg with "granary bread" toasted to perfection). Thoroughly enjoyed.A very relaxed and homely atmosphere with quiet background music.Spotlessly clean and spacious with comfortable seating. It was becoming busy (eat in and take out) before I left half an our later. Business men, shop assistants and mothers with young children all enjoying an early morning break - in comfort and peace. All promptly served by friendly efficient staff.Highly recommended "waitress service" restaurant in the centre of Lisburn City's Pedestrianized Centre. Karen's service was "perfection"!! A "Deli with home baking" is also available inside.

I just popped in on my lunch break looking for a take away sandwhich only I was suprised to receive the best sandwhich i have ever had!! I went for the Ulster's Best on Granary. The bread was lovely thick cut from a loaf it was so soft and fresh. The sandwhich was quite expensive at £4.50 but I would pay it again as it was well filled I felt it was value for my money. There was lots of filling and my server Sophie was very polite and smiley. So pleased to have found this place i will most definetly be back!!

This is a review of the yellow door cafe/deli restaurant in Bow street Lisburn, First time in here and had food from the breakfast menu,1, service was quick and simple 2, waiting time once initial order was placed was also quick 3, food was nice made in their style of a fry 4, tbh, for price wise, its pricy for what you get I can rattle the names of a few other cafes that can do the same for you a bit cheaper . The place is lovely and the layout of the other foods on display are appetising and pleasing to the eye.Would I go back yes maybe for a sandwich/lunch to give it a try..but think there's other places I'd really go to first.. Thank you for taking the time to read my honest review.. K..

This place opened amid a fair bit of hype a few years ago and did pretty nice sandwiches and cakes. I returned recently on a visit home only to find that they weren't selling sandwiches that particular day. Maybe this was a one off and they'd run out in the morning, but I was still pretty disappointed. Hopefully it can get back to it's best.

Great bread selection and fresh deli-counter. Prices are more expensive than the other cafés around Lisburn, but the choice is great. Pot of tea for two, sandwiches and chips roll-up around £12. Efficient service.

Poor. The service was very good, but everything else needs to be improved. Around £7 for a ham and cheese sandwich might have been worth it if the quality had been good but it was not. The granary bread was fine but the ham was just a couple of slices of very ordinary cooked ham and the small amount of grated cheese was nothing special. A little chutney was just slapped on the bread, instead of being served separately. The price was ridiculous given the quality and quantity. Little effort was made with presentation. Poor value for money. Never again - once bitten twice shy.

Had lunch here on Saturday. On arrival I asked for something substantial as I was pretty hungry. The waitress assured me that the sandwiches would fill me. Well the quality of the food was good but simply not enough especially at £7 per sandwich. The waitress was also indifferent verging on rude. Will not be rushing back. Dissapointed.

We arrived for lunch around 2pm and asked for two sandwiches and 2 coffees, the only bread they had was ciabatta and the side salad consisted of couscous and a few lettuce leaves. We ordered two soft drinks aswell and the bill was £22. Bit disappointing as they didn't have what we wanted, the portions clearly reduced as little food left, but capable of charging the full price. What there was of it was tasty, but we left quickly as there were quite a few wasps inside the cafe strangely making a quick lunch a little quicker to get out. It was a nice atmosphere and nice and clean. Might be a while before we are back though.

Gucci chip has not once disappointed me. I've been coming here for 3 years and no matter what time of night the food is of exceptional quality. The goujons are especially scrumptious, always home battered to perfection. The gucci sauce is truly top tier. Idk when these guys sleep coz they're always open. Best chippy on the Lisburn road would deffo recommend.

We went in for a Sunday breakfast, no reservation but was seated with no issue . The hostess was on the sour side and it took an age to take our order. I can only eat small amounts so I asked for a half portion or a child portion of porridge which she initially refused as I was an adult ! I should not have to give my medical history to get some simpatetic hosting from a waitress ! Either way food was delish - a bit pricey for a breakfast . Beautiful decor and beautiful surroundings, that is what the height score is for The one star loss is due to hostess skills :(
