Yee Hong Restaurant in South Lanarkshire

This place used to be great, to the point where we ignored local restaurants and drove a 1hr round trip to pick up a takeaway. However our last meal was very disappointing. My main was inedible - we had to throw it away, the black bean sauce was so salty. My husband (who also tried a couple of mouthfuls as we hate food waste) and I were both up multiple times during the night needing to drink water levels of salty!! The starter and free spring rolls were ok but a bit tasteless. I can only assume they’ve changed chefs. Service was friendly which made it 2 stars not one. Obviously we won’t be back.

First time in this restraunt. My grandma only wanted coffee and cream. I had the spring roll it was absolutely delicious.

Yee Hong is a very good restraunt. We go every weekend to this place. Toni always makes us very welcome. The food is absolutely delicious.

Tried to get lunch on Wednesday, yesterday although door sign said open the premises were in fact closed. Ah Bit disappointed as this is a great restaurant for lunch.

Booked a Xmas dinner , this was the worst experience at Chinese restaurant I have ever experienced, table not set had to ask for cutlery and napkins , older Chinese man was serving who unfortunate struggled badly with speaking English, order drinks which was a struggle and had ran out of Vodka, starters where very average, main courses , the worst chicken and black bean sauce I have ever eaten, truly awful, the sauce was like tar , I avoided desert , my wife ordered caramel apple granny desert , which arrived as a a well non brand of mini apple pie with a drizzle of caramel sauce, the meal came to over £90, what a TOTAL RIP OFF !! disgraceful, we will never be back in this so called restaurant , stay well clear !!

This place is an absolute shambles. The owner comes out from the kitchen asking customers who has ordered this?? How hard can it be???

The website advised around 50 minutes delivery but the food arrived in around 20 minutes, piping hot. The curry was lovely, but the prawn cocktails were very disappointing. 80% lettuce, 5% tomatoes and 5% sauce and only around 10% prawns ….

went for lunch today as a party of 3 ,first time in restaurant and impressed,very polite and great service food warm and spot on,my partner asked if she could have beef and mushroom (not on menu) instead of beef/onion this was no problem and not charged extra like other chinese , I had cream of chicken soup,chicken curry f rice,banana fritter.service 100 times better than royal blossom .all covid safety measures used,we will be back.

Been to this restaurant lots of times. Was looking forward to a get together with a friend so popped in. 1st course was good but when the main course came I sent mine back Sweet and Sour with fried rice the. The rice was good but the Chicken was stringy and rubbery I couldn't cut through some of the strips. Other strips looked undercooked. A second portion without the thin batter was just the same the onion was raw never touched the wok by the looks of it. I ate some of the rice the rest. My friend ate some of her Black Bean dish but also left the rest. They even offered the sweet menu after this. We will not go back.

Ordered a meal from this restaurant,and have several times before,they do not disappoint ,food is excellent,the chow Mein,chicken satay skewers were sublime.My good lady ordered the Siam beef which she had never tried before and was blown away.Fast delivery and highly recommend.

What to say about Yee Hong, let me start by saying I had a great blasht of fish dripping in soy. I was in a Soy sauce haze, when I came to I was 4 clicks north of Halton square, In a absolute soy sauce paradigm.

Jumped in after work for a delicious lunch time menu, lovely friendly staff and fresh tasty well presented food. Would recommend a visit to all.

Good food but not taking part in the eat out for less and only taking payment in cash which is very odd .

Waited nearly 2-3 hours when food came it was frozen not very good this is twice we have ordered and will not order again and would not recommend this to anyone

Ordered take out from here for Christmas dinner as our usual chinese was closed this year. Called here on a whim to see if was open and to our luck it was. The food was on time plentiful delicious and great value for Christmas dinner!! Ordered for 4 adults and a child the food was really really nice and tasty. Large portions free crackers and fortune cookies. Will defo return next year. Thanks yee hong.

Been frequenting this restaurant for a great number of years always excellent food however recently when ordering a carry out meal the waiting time can be up to two hours priority seems to be just eat orders at the expense of the regular customers

Gave home delivery another chance after feeling unwell a couple of years ago after eating a dodgy meal.Cant believe it ,me n wife sick as a dog after ordering from them, no coincidence because i had nothing else to eat the whole day

Visited tonight for dinner after a recommendation from a friend,firstly when you go in there is a damp smell,then we ordered from the pre theatre menu,once the order was taken it gave us a chance to check out our surroundings,the radiator next to us was filthy,drinks spilled down it,then the bluebottles on the window not to mention the wasps buzzing round your head while you are trying to eat l ordered cream of chick soup,firstly it was lukewarm and more cream than chicken,my partners chick noodle was fine,the mains arrived chick fried rice and chick chow mein both lukewarm and both overly salty,we couldnt wait to leave between tbe smell,the flies,the wasps and the lukewarm food it was a waste of money there are better places to eat even if its only a take away

Not bad chinese restaurant and worth a try and it is easy to get parked outside and close to the centre

We have used the Yee Hong for years for both sit in and takeaway. Last visit for us after tonight! They initially forgot to give me the can of juice and I had to go back only to discover when we arrived home in Motherwell that as well as the juice they had forgotten the noodles. I opened the breast of chicken curry sauce to find that it was just the curry sauce with cubes of cooked chicken spooned on top. Not even an attempt to stir it together. Totally dsgusting and tasteless. My husband phoned to complain and was told they didnt deliver to Motherwell so couldnt deliver the noodles separately. They did try to say that the noodles hadnt been ordered and they hadn't charged for them until my husband pointed out that they had confirmed he wanted thin noodles and that they only used the best of chicken. Unfortunately nobody told the chef that the chicken should be mixed through the sauce. Despite using them for years we wont be back!

Definitely one of the best in the area. both for restaurant service and take-aways. Staff are friendly and the menu contains all you might look for.

Not sure if we just went at a quiet time (September weekend Monday about 5pm) but the place was empty apart from us. No idea why, it’s amazing! We don’t have a good Chinese near us and will be making this our default restaurant when we’re in the mood for this cuisine.

Love the satay here but really 2 skewers ie 6 pieces of chicken as a main ?- unacceptable for a main course!

Took my wife on our anniversary and it was so quiet(only us there) I made out that I’d booked the whole place out. Needless to say she didn’t believe me. Gotta say the food was great though, however the non Chinese staff really didn’t know anything about the menus. Good overall though.

went for a Chinese instead of xmas Turkey with friends, really good 3 course meal and service, clean and tidy well sized restaurant, good service and have been a few time over the years and had carry outs as well, never had a bad meal, reasonable prices, will keep going back, parking close by as well.

We got a takeaway from here and it was delicious. It did take over an hour to arrive however it was worth the wait. The chicken satay skewers are fantastic. The sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style with noddles was also delightful. I will definitely use this in future.

Service at lunch was good and chicken in the curry was great but the chicken in satay was the worst I have ever tasted, I thought I was chewing on a sponge on the skewer. I asked if they used same chicken in the two dishes, they said yes!!! This chicken in the satay tasted as if it was full of water it was disgusting.

Located closely to public transport. Table of five lots of variety to choose from we had the pretheatre menu and I had peking chicken and boiled rice and it was delicious. Added extra of free prawn crackers and fortune cookies.

Almost always use Yee Hong for Chinese carry out food and have never had a poor meal. Staff are always helpful on the phone and delivery staff are too. Recommend 👍

lovely food as always , but was slightly annoyed for when I asked if I could take some of my main meal home with me as was just simply full , to be told it would be a extra £1 for the container ! If I had been aware or this I would of tried to finish the lot lol

Incredible value for money...delicious meal... Very friendly and quick service. The Lunch menu (available from 12h00 to 16h00) at £7.90 for a three course meal can't be beaten.

Went here with my husband for lunch and found the restaurant freezing. We were next to a radiator but it was barely warm. My husband ended up putting his jacket back on to eat his soup. Please sort this out as it's not the first time this has happened. On the plus side the service and food were great.

Booked a table for 4 on a recommendation from my daughter food was excellent and service good without being annoying .will definitely be back.

Food here is great but unfortunately there is a draught that makes sitting at the table waiting very uncomfortable. The restaurant needs to decide their priorities, take away or diners. I loved m dinner but would not go back. Make up your own mind.

Really enjoyed the food, freshly cooked and tasty, staff were lovely, restaurant was empty on a Tuesday night? Is it too expensive at about £12.00 for a main and £3.00 for rice, in our opinion this is the most we have paid for a Chinese ever. If we return to Hamilton we would try other restaurants as there seems to be a good choice.

Ate here one Sunday evening recently and decided to order from the pre-theatre menu and Im glad we did. Starter/main with side/dessert and tea/coffee for about £12. The food was delicious and couldnt be faulted. Portion sizes were superb for the price we paid. Service was attentive and efficient. Will definitely be back when we're next in the area.

I've been going to Yee Hong for years and never had any problems with my meals. To be honest I normally always get the same mail meal every time I'm here (chicken satay) because nowhere else does the sauce quite like here, definitely my favourite place for a satay. The staff are always very nice & very attentative. My only issue about the place is that it is always freezing cold inside it, haven't taken my jacket off last twice I have been

We were looking for a good local Chinese restaurant and Yee Hong hits the mark. It's a traditional Chinese but with some Thai dishes on the menu. They do a selection of Dim Sum which was excellent and we all enjoyed our main courses. The service is friendly and the house wine is good value and very drinkable. Looking forward to a return visit

We decided to pop in while in Hamilton. This is a wee gem of a find. Lunchtime menu has a varied choice and prices are very reasonable. Décor is calm and relaxing. The staff are friendly and attentive without hovering. We had 3 courses portions were more than ample and the quality of the dishes was excellent. Must admit we didn't check out what the specialist cuisine was. Would definitely go back again.

My husband and I were on holiday in Hamilton visiting family & friends and were looking for somewhere local to eat. It is difficult to find a good Cantonese restaurant nowadays but this restaurant didn't disappoint. I went for lunch with my friend on the Tuesday 4th Oct. I wanted Dim Sum so we opted for the a la carte menu although the lunchtime menu was really varied with lots of choice - the main course on the lunch menu is chosen from the A la carte menu. The waitress informed me that the Dim Sum would take approx 20 min which I knew already because it's a delicacy. I had the mixture of Dim Sum (steamed dumplings) with pork, prawn and beef. 6 to a portion which is more than adequate. They were absolutely delicious. The service was 5 star and the restaurant is clean and modern. I asked for chop sticks which were given. The hot burners placed on the table to keep the plates hot were subsequently used to keep the food piping hot. I had beef with green pepper and black bean sauce for main course. Delicious. It was so good that we had dinner the following night with my husband, our friend and her husband. All of us enjoyed another delicious meal. Plates are heated and food is piping hot and tasty. It isn't cheap but you get what you pay for. For 4 starters, 4 main courses with rice, 4 diet cokes, 2 beers and 2 whiskies which came to £110 which was very good value. Service is excellent, the staff are very pleasant and friendly. The restaurant was really busy on both occasions which speaks volumes as it was weekdays and it's off the beaten track behind the railway station on Kemp St. Many Chinese restaurants seem to cater to the masses these days with buffets but this restaurant was definitely a winner with us. I would recommend it to others and return in the future.

Ordered two meals for the family to be collected. The order was ready for uplift bang on time and both meals were of excellent quality.In the many years I've used the Yee Hong (I have the waist to testify to that....!) I have yet to receive anything but excellent service and friendly chat. Although I've only taken advantage of the restaurant a handful of times (to my eternal shame), I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. It's all about opinions and yours may differ but I challenge you to give the Yee Hong a go, if you haven't already.

We got a take away from this restaurant 2 days ago rather than from numerous take away shops. What a difference. So fresh and absolutely lovely. We will definately be returning. May even sit in..

We hadn't been here for a long time, but an acquaintance had told us it had a different owner and was worth another try. We did and went for the pre-theatre menu. We got four courses for £11.95. Well worth the money, big portions, plenty of choice and very tasty. The staff are very friendly without being intrusive. Hamilton is not spoiled for choice when it comes to places to eat out, but we'll certainly be making a return visit.

Really tasty set lunch menu. At £6.90 for three courses, is ideal for a larger family. The cream of chicken soup is delicious, as was the skewered chicken satay. Fried rice was nice and light too. Finished with freshly made banana fritters.We have visited regularly and have not been disappointed. Staff lovely too.

We go to this restaurant occasionally. We always enjoy the food and service.The food is perfectly cooked and the waiting staff are attentive and helpful but not intrusive - a great balance that they mange to achieve so well.

This was a last min dinner. My husband just by chance found this. From out side it looked old and dingy but ye cand go wrong with just a Chinese curry so it would be fine. Went inside and it was quiet but decor was lovely, looks like it has been decorated recently. Menu was quite expensive so I ordered the chicken satay skewers and hubby got salt and chilli chicken. I have to say it was the best satay I have ever tasted. The chicken was cooked to perfection! It melted off the stick! The sauce was indescribable, just amazing. Hubby s was very good also and good portion with both. I ordered the red Thai curry and hubby got special curry. Both cooked to perfection and tasted fresh made. We were both up set that we didn't get something a bit more fancy after tasting the satay. Wine lovely, service friendly and food amazing. I will be back!!

It looked like it did when I was last here, a bit of a timewarp, however an excellent welcome from attentive staff, presented with the pre-theatre menu - can't beat £11.90 for a 4 courser if you want to count coffee as a course.Food was piping hot, plenty of it and not the usual rushed Chinese restaurant service - personally I started with chicken wings, followed by a lovely special chow mein and a luscious banana fritter.If there was any gripe it was £2.00 for a can of soft drink that had clearly been bought in poundland as the diet cola was made in Indonesia and can written in some strange hyroglyphic language, but hey ho, it tasted the same, just a bit steep for a can that costs closer to 25p.Will I be back - most likely.

My husband and I popped in after not been in ages!!!! We had soups to start.. Won ton and chicken noodle which were both very fresh!!!!! And very delicious!!!!!We also had Kung po prawn snd chicken for our mains fried rice nice and fluffy!!!!!!Food was hot delicious and fresh! Thankyou for a great meal! We will be back!!

We visited the Yee Hong recently and this has been refurbished since our last visit some time ago. Very nice surroundings and staff were very attentive. We had the Pre Theatre menu which offered a large choice of dishes and was very reasonably priced.Very nice meal that was enjoyed by all ( ages 12 up to 74)....

I've recently tried the Yee Hong for the first time in years and can throughly recommend the quality and value of the set lunch. We've returned several times now.It's not what you would describe as opulent but for friendly service and decent traditional Cantonese food this is well worth a try. Also note there's a decent level of choice as one can pick any meat or chicken dish from the a la carte menu if the standard suggestions do not suit.

I was down in Hamilton with work & looked up Tripadvisor for a Chinese nearby. We then decided to head for the Yee Hong. We all agreed the food was excellent & very reasonably priced. We are back down next week & we plan on returning again.

After a weekend away we stopped off at the Yee Hong for a bite to eat on the way home. We received a warm welcome and the staff were very nice. All four of us had a lovely 3 course lunch which was great value for £6.90 each. Well worth a visit. We will defnately be back.

I had only ever previously been here to get a take-away, so finally got round to actually sitting in after many years. The restaurant is traditional as you would expect for a Chinese here and certainly seems to be well kept. I went here on a quiet Sunday evening with my wife and on arrival we were promptly shown to a table by a friendly member of staff with drinks order taken as we knew what we wanted. We both ordered off the pre-theatre, which was available at the time and to be honest is not that limited compared to the a la carte – so pretty decent selection. Once ordered the food came not too long after, both starters and mains were very good and certainly what we both expected. Drinks wise we were just on soft drinks, which were reasonably priced but there was an ok selection of wines and beers and again pricing seemed pretty good to me. All in pricewise it was fairly inexpensive and definitely plan on heading back as some point. Overall it was a fairly pleasant experience and was perfect for a fairly cheap quiet night. Staff were friendly and attentive, while not being too obtrusive at all.

We decided to go out for a Chinese meal and thought we would try Hamilton instead of going to Glasgow. We are so pleased that we did. The food at Yee Hong was really good. We had the pre-theatre and the choice was good and it was cooked to perfection.The service was really good as well, both waitresses managed to hit the right balance of being attentive without being over intrusive.A great meal and we will be back.,

from the moment you walk in the door of the YeeHong in Hamilton, you are made to feel welcome and at home. The pre theatre menu has a choice second to none and the price is unbelievable. I have never been in a Cantonese restaurant with so many sweet choices! The wine list is very good and price again is very competitive. The staff work very hard and would have you believe nothing is too much trouble. In this time of bigger supposedly being better,this family run business could give anyone of the big chains more than a run for their money, well done.

I enjoyed Christmas Day Dinner at the Yee Hong and along with my Wife, Mum and Dad. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. Gordon and Louis run an excellent resturant... a little gem of a Chinese in the heart of Hamilton. I think I will be back ;-)

What an absolutely fabulous night we had with Gordon, Louis, Gina and Amanda, we were a family party of15 and they couldn't do enough for us this is the first time I have been out for New Years meal and we had such a great time that we are going to make it a regular thing. Have been coming to the Yee Hong for many years and I've never been disappointed, our favourite dish is there excellent Chichen Satay, the sauce is rich and so tasty, a must for us. Another good choice is the Aromatic beef curry, lovely dish especially curry lovers. Looking forward to spending Christmas Day once again, wouldnae miss it.The staff are always attentive and helpful, highly recommend if you love Chinese cuisine.

Food was delicious!Best Singapore chowmein I've had. Are from the main menu, prices seemed a bit excessive for what we had but would go back again.

My girlfriend and I popped in here one night and it was lovely food at cheap prices. I think a 3 course pre theatre dinner with a coffee was about £12 and the courses were not small.

Tried the satay here reading one of the reviews on here praising it as the best satay they ever had.All i can say if this is the best you have ever had,i would not like to have tasted your worst!The mixed meat was ok,but there was no peanut sauce to go with the meat and the rice.All there was,was i drop of soya sauce on the bottom of the container.So after i had finished the meat i had the throw the dry rice in the bin.!For £8.80 for a takeaway mixed satay is shocking.It must be one of the worst mixed satays i have ever had.

Had a great time in the Yee Hong, food, staff, service and price we're all excellent. The restaurant is very clean and in good order, your not rushed to eat then go. Also free coffee top ups.

Went here purely because I noticed some friends of mine recommended it. We were going to the cinema and we usually pop into the usual, KFC or Pizza Hut or McDonalds for a quick bite before the film. . . I read on Yee Hong website they did a pre theater deal. . A three course and coffee for £10.90. Can't pass that up can you. I mean its cheap, but how bad can it be? . So off we went, not holding out much hope, but well, you've got to try it haven't you?....... The menu is quite extensive as you can see and the three of us had different meals so that we could try them. . There was a lttle less meat in the meals than you would get in an A La Carte menu but this is expected........... However, the three of us were well stuffed at the end. ........... Three, 3 course meals with 3 coffees..... 3 non alcoholic drinks. . . we each got our favorite meals.... excellent attendance by the waiters, very pleasant guys and they jokingly brought out , at the sweet, a little candle with sparklers on my wife's gateaux after the waiter overheard us saying it was her birthday............... Simple gesture, funny, and made her night. . . Now, the quality of the food? . . . . Could not fault it. .Everything was delicious.......We had been talking about the deterioration of the quality of the Chinese restaurants we usually go to, so we're going to be coming back here . We felt comfortable, relaxed and made to feel welcome. . This whole experience, for three adults, cost a total of.............. £39 ????????. . . This has got to be the best deal going around. . Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.. . And yes, I also recommend the Chicken Satay.

In for a lovely meal for an 18th birthday party right from coming in to the coffee and sweets everything was lovely and the service was really excellent would recommend coming for a meal

We have been visiting the Ye Hong on a regular basis since it opened. Our favourites dishes are the Chicken Satay and the Kung Pau Chicken or Prawn with fried rice. It is such a favourite that we either go there on Christmas Day or New Years just for the pleasure. The staff are efficient and friendly, looking forward to our meal this coming Christmas Day
