Ye Olde Swan in Tendring

No food, but a friendly local proper pub.Music a few times a month and a vinyl night.Beer(ale) always in good condition.

Friendly staff & well kept ales in a lovely atmosphere. My 'go to' pub in Brightlingsea as everywhere else in the town seems to have gone downhill these days. A revolving 'guest ale' would earn a fifth star.

We stayed 3 nights at Ye Olde Swan in January while visiting relatives in Brightlingsea. The pub is charming, and the owners, Angela and Stuart, very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. (We had packed the wrong travel adapter plug, so couldn't charge our phones, and they lent us an EU-UK one, which they happened to have!) Our room was really spacious with plenty of cupboard space, and an ensuite bathroom, but the best thing was the bed! The mattress and pillows were just how I like them, and the duvet was huge, soft and soooo warm! Breakfast was excellent! Cereal, Full English, plenty of toast with jam, marmalade etc and very good tea and coffee. I asked if they had porridge, and was served a huge bowl the next morning! It genuinely seemed that you could have any combination of food for breakfast. Ye Olde Swan is a great place to stay; it is run by professionals, for whom nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended!

Really cold with no heating on. Dogs not allowed in main bar area.

Really nice little pub with a friendly bar maid, comfortable pub feel, Guinness on draught, and a pool table. Wish it did food, but seems not.

Old fashioned town pub, nice chilled atmosphere with a good selection of drinks. Darts and pool table as well, so a good pub to visit and they are always polite as well!

Very old good local pub. Nice warm fire and friendly staff. Serves food, has parking and offers rooms.

This pub has a very nice feel, the drinks are tasty and the has a nice set of regulars. I have enjoyed it a few times on my trip.

Best pub in brightlingsea, good beer, friendly, great owners and staff. The plus is no food, no television, just conversation.

Ange and Stuart know how to run a pub! I don't go out much now but my old mucker Neil Turner and I used to spend way too much time in here. Adnams on tap including the amazing Ghost Ship.

You can tell the locals love this pub, it's a great location and has great service. Always has a few good ales on tap.

Stayed here while sailing at Brightlingsea Sailing Club for the weekend. Good location, less than 10 mins walk from the club. Friendly staff and manager, basic but comfortable rooms, and a decent breakfast. Good value, especially for single occupancy rooms. Will stay here again if we come back to Brightlingsea!

Another lovely stay at the old swan. Beds so comfy. Breakfast delicious and staff amazing. We came back for my mum's birthday and found a card and chocs waiting for her in the room. So kind. Mum enjoyed it just as much as we did. Will be back soon. Thank you Angela and Stewart and all the lovely staff. Xx

My daughter has a peanut allergy, when she asked if the staff would not sell peanuts while she was in there, they refused to stop selling them, they obviously dont know how serious a peanut allergy is!!

Check in the room Didn't stop for long VERY DIRTY. MARK'S ALL OVER THE QUILT COVER AND SHEET. LOOKS LIKE IT HASN'T BEEN CLEANED FOR A YEAR

Friendly staff and customers, breakfast was delicious,cafetiere coffee too. Room was spacious and the bed was soooo comfy.

Good beer and ale selection. I normally go with a friend who lives in Brightlingsea and he knows everyone in there. They are a friendly bunch. Good selection of pub games including pool and darts and often have live bands.

Great local Place to drink and meet people

Excellent place to stay. All the staff are lovely. The breakfast was delicious. Place is full of character. Only able to stay 1 night but recommend. Location great. Will return
