Food was excellent and value for money. Great service from a lovely member of staff Phoebe.

We were very happy with the way we were welcomed last night. Our waitress was lovely and friendly. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We were initially told that roast dinners were still available. Our waitress then advised us that they weren't available. Her colleague checked and advised us that we could still order a roast dinner. We enjoyed our main courses and both had lovely desserts. The only thing that spoilt it was the number of flies trying to land on our food.

As before not rump or sirloin steak only fillet. Restaurant looked messy and untidy, there only seemed to be one guy serving and he was friendly

Visited with my Sister, prompt friendly service. Meal was first class, had mixed grill for first time in a long time and was very pleased. I will be going again soon with my wife and children

Kept driving past and seeing the “best pub pie” sign only for it to be mediocre at best. Veg was solid, mash potatoes straight from a hospital kitchen and the pie needed some more seasoning. Whitebait starter was lovely best food of the night. Partner had a flatbread which was nothing to write home about. Drinks outrageously expensive. Overall disappointing but would choose some different options next time

Visiting for the first time today. I was very vert impressed with this historic place. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious! Will deffo be back. They also had a promotion with 30 percent off. Very happy indeed. Well done guys!

Really enjoyed our visit last night to this local country pub! Particularly enjoyed the Tom Shepherd pie. Really succulent. We will return!

The staff were friendly and attentive without hovering over us. When there was a query with the bill it was amended with no question by the manager. We will be back I'm sure.

I was lucky enough to be taken her by my daughter, son in law and grandson for an early Mother’s Day meal. There’s ample parking and what looks like a nice garden but I didn’t check it out. The restaurant is nice and spacious, clean and has plenty of character. The staff are top class, attentive, friendly and humorous. The little one had a cheeseburger and he woofed it down saying it was really tasty. Son in law had the chicken burger, o have to say it was large!! Daughter had a chicken caesar salad and it was more than ample and as fresh as you can get. I had the sea bass filets, cooked to perfection. The menu has something for everyone, and there’s a great selection on offer. There’s plenty on offer for vegetarians and vegans. The staff are really lovely. The service was quick and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend this pub/restaurant. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed

Really enjoyed, party of 4, starters, mains and desserts really delicious, great value for money, and 4 bottles of wine went down a treat!!! Definitely be back again, and we love going there for a drink on a weekend when walking our labradors!

Made a last minute decision to pop in for a drink and a bite to eat. Superb Sunday roast, big portion at a great price. Really nice atmosphere will be back soon.

Lovely place to eat, meet friends or just stop for a quick drink after a walk with the dog. Food is delicious! Added bonus is the special offers they have and the fact that they are included in Meerkat meals. Always a good experience here.

We absolutely love it here. It's a beautiful pub, the menu is fantastic, great food quality, great service. The pub quiz is really fun and you can have a sit down meal or chill in the bar with a drink and some snacks. 100% recommend.

Service and food were both amazing. Unfortunately we were sat next to a draughty door so needed to ask to move to a more comfortable table, this was resolved instantly by the staff

We had a family meal for 9 of us to celebrate my Mom's 81st birthday. The food was delicious. We were sat in a lovely spot with the sun streaming in through the windows and only 2 other tables in that area. In fact there are numerous small areas so you never feel like you're in a large establishment. The service was great particularly from Dav, he made us feel very welcome and like nothing was too much trouble and kept us supplied with lots of drinks.

We were seated and took a while to take the order. My wife didn't want a big dish so order Prawn Cocktail as a starter. The waitress asked if she'd like it a little bigger that the starter to which she said yes. When the food was delivered 2 dishes were delivered a good 5 mins before a further 2. Then 2 Prawn Cocktails arrived not a larger one as we were told 2 portions. The team seemed pretty clueless on this. The place wasn't that busy atall and given the service and lack of attentiveness (we had to ask for a steak knife for my dad) I'm not surprised. The saracens head used to fantastic place dropped down quite a bit now.

I've been going to the Saracens for a few years now and in the past I have posted favourable reviews. However lately I have a feeling that the pub is being allowed to fail. On a couple of occasions recently when going for a meal there have been no pizzas available and on Saturday there was no food at all available. I, along with 3 others, turned up about 3pm after a walk to discover no food was being served. There was also no crisps behind the bar that we could buy. Also a while ago the pub, or more likely the brewery, changed the draught cider from Orchard Thieves to Inch's cider which is a very poor substitute. If this had been my first visit to the Saracens it quite possibly would have been my last. This pub has been an asset to the village PLEASE don't allow it to fail

A wonderful, friendly, welcoming pub with a great restaurant area and warm and cosy bar area. We ate in the bar area where the log burner was roaring. Service was great and the food was delicious! We will definitely be going back and recommending to friends.

Upon arrival we were shown to our table promptly and advised of the deals. However it soon became apparent that a large group were going to sit near us imminently. Large groups by nature become a little boisterous through no fault of their own where they are sat and sometimes unnerve smaller groups of people. Perhaps a specified area could be designated for groups of four or more

Took my wife out for a meal tonight (valentines)when the food was brought to our table,we were both shocked at not only the size,but the lack of side salad,peas.I had to pay extra for 2 mushrooms for my wife's plate, menu stated triple cooked skin on chunky chips,what we both got were frozen chips,for £21.50 for a 8oz steak only to get frozen chips is a bit hard to take.When we mentioned the food and that we'd leave a review ,he said "go on then,I don't care" when I pointed out what the menu said compared to what we received, the manager (I think)knocked our last drinks off the final bill.It was a total anticlimax to what should have been a nice afternoon for my wife and myself.........totally disappointed

Went for a lunch. Not sure if we just visited on a bad day but there was no welcome, food was tasty but arrived after a long wait and was just about hot enough to eat.

Marked down slightly for atmosphere simply because it was a Tuesday afternoon and there was hardly anyone in the pub. I'm sure it would have a great atmosphere at a busier time of day.

Second chance for the Saracens Head, last time was pretty poor this time was no real improvement, so that’s it for this pub. Steak was ordered medium rare and came out raw in the middle. They recooked it which had the effect of drying it out and burning the outside. Battered fish was greasy and overcooked. The chips appeared fresh out of the freezer. The staff have since said that a medium rare steak should be raw in the middle. I suppose that tells you all you need to know about their definition of raw and rare. God help them.

Lovely birthday lunch for 5 of us.

The online booking process is so simple and accommodating if you want to bring a dog. I had to call to add to my booking and the staff were so helpful and even remembered my name when we arrived. The staff are all very polite and welcoming. We had a table in the bar. Ordering was easy and we were informed about some unavailable items on the menu. We had 6 Sunday roasts ( 1 vegetarian ) and all six plates were clean when we finished. Added bonus of a new year discount code made for a lovely lunch. Will be back

Had not been here before but chosen due to location, for meeting up with friends for lunch. Place had a great feel to it with the staff friendly. There is a decent menu range, including for veggies and children. Most of us chose 2 courses from the lunch and early evening set menu. As it's been my big food discovery of the year, I went for the cauliflower wings for starters with the calamari for mains. Unfortunately it was realised, some time after we ordered that they had run out of calamari but that I could order anything else from the menu for the same price. This was a good offer and I went for the plant burger, which didn't disappoint. We were all too full for pudding and definitely a place to return to.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered 2 pizzas which were delicious and very large, easily can be shared between 2. Triple cooked chips were really good and all the food came out hot. Nice pub with a nice bear garden. Only negative, you don't do blue light discount.

I booked to celebrate a friends birthday, table for 8 in the restaurant with service. Great position apart from the tables being split so felt difficult to enjoy the whole party’s company. Having said that, we were served 8 amazing main dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed by the whole party which from experience is hard to do it seems. Waiting staff were great, friendly, attentive and professional. There was a great atmosphere as lots of tables occupied. Did empty out after the early bird sittings but quickly filled again. We will be back for certain.

Always a warm friendly welcome. Great choice of food. And lunchtime special menu of 2 or 3 courses at great prices. Great that it’s dog friendly. With bowls of water and treats. Lots of space to seat and eat comfortably without sitting on top of others. Recommend Saracens Head as it’s a great country pub with great wholesome food.

Was our favourite place to eat when we lived locally, visiting again while in the area and did not disappoint, lovely food and great service, love the doggy refreshments table, great touch! And still serving one of the best chocolate brownies around!!!

We went there for a couple of pints after a nice country walk on Sunday. The atmosphere in the pub is good and service was great. They have water and treats available for dogs. We were a few, and got there around 3:30pm. At that time most of the space is dedicated to people ordering food (late Sunday lunches), and only a small area by the bar was available for drinks. There was no space there for us and the weather was good so we took a couple of outdoor tables in the back. The outside area is nice and tidy, and most tables have heating available. When we ordered drinks at the bar we were asked to let them know if we needed the heating turned on (it wasn't necessary), and when we were having drinks outside a member of staff came over to let us know that a table indoors had freed up. It's hard to get good service like that anywhere this days... I will be back.

Really nice place, friendly and well looked after. Lovely food and staff always will to help. Presentation of food could do with small tweaking to improve, although that didn't detract from good quality food and taste. Would recommend without thinking about it.

We had a large booking for 29 people. We did a pre-order. We had the most wonderful time. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. All the meals were correct and were delicious. The staff allowed us to set up an area for a cake. We were all seated together in our own area. We were so well looked after and we had such a fantastic evening.

Nice old pub with low wooden beams, etc. Friendly service, cosy, definitely a place to come and enjoy a meal. I popped in to sample the cask ale and was unimpressed.. just two Marston's ales available: Pedigree and 61Deep, neither of which was excellent.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful but the food was not great. I felt it was expensive for what it was. One of our guests found the Hunters chicken inedible and this was taken off the bill but it did spoil the evening.

The arrangements for our lunch including pre-ordering for were organised expertly by Chloe and, on the day, were spot on. The meal were universally praised by the 11 in our party. The wine was very good too. The efficiency of the service was outstanding and a special word for Sandie who was simply outstanding in looking after 11 boisterous ageing tennis players! A memorable afternoon. Thanks to all the team at Ye Olde....
