The food in this restaurant is genuinely outstanding. Incredible veal, lasagne, pasta and sea bass.

Very nice place, great menu, good prices. Lovely food. Been several times now and it never disappoints.

Food was very bland. The smell of the toilet whilst eating was not pleasant and to top it off the staff were not pleasant and to be honest rude. So disappointed. Total shame the Tipperary Inn closed as they were much friendlier and the food was much much better. I won't be recommending or going back

Food was good. It was a very hot evening and we were put in a corner table with a fan facing everyone else and away from us. It made the whole experience uncomfortable. The seats were uncomfortable and too low for the table and as a result I ended up with a lot of pain in my shoulder and back.

This is a genuine Italian restaurant with an extensive menu. We really enjoyed our meal with friends. The ambience and decor are good too.

First time in this beautiful Italian restaurant. We had travelled fourty five minutes to get there to meet relatives who had come up from Kent. Staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful and knowable about the food, especially the young man. The food was superb freshly cooked ingredients, large portions, and so much choice. And although we did not have any alcohol there was a very good selection. All in an excellent. Place an my husband and I will be coming back again soon. We would highly recommend.

We were at an exhibition in Stoneleigh so stayed locally, we had been last year so we're so pleased we had another really enjoyable meal. We went on a Wednesday (5th June) and needed to book. There were 7 in our party and everyone was really pleased. I had soup (lovely tomato) and Sea Bass. Will be back again next year.

WOW!!!! I have eaten food all I’ve the world and would class myself as a real connoisseur of food. I am probably far too critical ‘sometimes’. BUT - This restaurant really is a cut above anywhere else you could go!!!! The staff are five star. The food is more than five star. The setting is five star. This restaurant should have a Michelin star!!!!!! In 20 years of reviewing restaurants, I have never said that - but I will say it about this place.

Excellent meal and nice environment laid out as a proper restaurant with cloth napkins and table cloths. Food was stunning. Good portions and extremely tasty. I could not fault it. Service was excellent. Situated in a former bank it still retains some of the features. I would definitely recommend and will go there again. Only one thing would make it better and that would sited in Italy itself. Truly authentic Italian quinine, prepared and cooked to an exceptional level.

Decided to make a last minute booking here,so pleased that we did ,the service was good ,the food was expertly cooked ,food portions are a good size ,had the seabass fillets ,prawns and mussels as main course ,and it was wonderful, good selection of food on menue ,the cheese board is well worth having .definitely worth going, will be going again myself.

Fantastic place to eat. Amazing food at great prices!

Food was bland. Starter dry with no taste as very skimpy on balsamic. Calamari was tasteless. Main - chicken was like rubber. Also while eating it was like sitting in a toilet, the smell of urine and flash was awful, having to eat with the smell of urine was disgusting. Best thing was the 2 drinks. Had better food and attentive staff in Zizzi”s and Pizza Express and no smell of urine! Would give 0 star’s if I could.

What a fantastic place, atmosphere, and food excellent. If I was being picky, a smile 😃 behind the bar would have been nice. I'm not sure she wanted to be there on a Wednesday evening. Will be going back very soon.

Food looks amazing. Sadly lunch is stated as 12-2 we arrived at 1.35 and was told the kitchen closes at 1.30, so basically they have one lunch slot at 12...

Female chef/owner horrendously rude. They have lost customers tonight. This was my 4th visit this year, and wiIl never return after the vile attitude and interaction tonight. Two different parties she insulted tonight. Another table, refused to eat after stating they had been insulted twice. I know it’s the Christmas period, however the manager was rude. We ordered a simplistic meal and the waitress stated that was fine due to allergies and did not receive that. We were shouted at in front of the whole restaurant and told that we should not have ordered that and to eat what we had ordered(which was wrong). The waitress had obviously made a mistake however the owner did not even take that into consideration. The waitress apologised for the owner’s rude behaviour and the error however the owner did not. Awful experience.

Unfortunately they do not cater to even vegetarians, so do mot bother if you are vegan let alone veggie. Although the menu does offer some “veggie” options, last year I found a piece of meat in my “vegetarian” dish. When I asked that it could be remade to not include meat (despite the dish not having meat stated on the menu anywhere), they took it to the kitchen, came back two seconds later and said they’d removed the meat. Not quite the same as remaking without meat to make it vegetarian, but I didn’t want to kick up a fuss on a family members birthday, so continued to eat the pasta that had been handed back to me. Clearly the chef and staff didn’t care for peoples dietary requirements, as I then found yet another piece of meat in my dish which was the last straw. My family enjoyed their meal and returned this year to celebrate my nans 80th, as they do indeed eat meat. Unfortunately i couldn’t attend this special event as i didn’t want to risk the same situation happen again. Thankgod it wasn’t an allergy as i dont think the chef is particularly well versed in the meaning of cross contamination. I truly hope this place can learn to respect other peoples choices if they are going to offer veggie (or - only offer meat dishes, but dont offer veggie then put multiple pieces of meat in it!). Hopefully they improve but such a shame this happened as its put me off for life from an otherwise pleasant place.

I had an absolutely fantastic time! Me and my friend came here tonight and had a wonderful experience ! Giovanni and his family are so welcoming and the food was amazing! The steak melts in your mouth and is an experience you will remember! I would recommend this family run restaurant to anyone, especially for their fabulous service and true Italian food :)

Outstanding food , amazing place . We were well and truly looked after by Gio . He went out of his way to say hello and when my friend left her phone in the restaurant, he drove all the way to return it to her personally . I will most definitely be back . Thank you Gio for an incredible evening!!

First time visiting, but definitely not the last! This is a high quality Italian restaurant with excellent choice and beautiful ingredients. A very authentic, diverse menu and wonderful staff who were very attentive throughout. Great value for money and a really enjoyable night had by us all.

First time here, as our local Italian in Knowle has closed. We were not disappointed, great food, plenty of choice and friendly staff, we will certainly be back.

Its meh. Lunch time special. Small portions but not justified since the food wasn't tasty or interesting enough to warrant the child size portions. You just felt ripped off. if a restaurant is going to do the whole gourmet get 3 portions of ravioli, then it better be out of this world. It's not.

Posh place but shocking food. Not sure they know what salt is. This is as bland and blingy as it gets. The place was dead and they wanted to put us next to the door until we asked to be seated further away. If you like bling and plastic chair with a rug on it to make it look posh this place will get 5 stars. If you like a meal with less taste than water then brilliant. My colleague left half of his dry pasta dish . I did eat mine as had not eaten in ages but the salt pot will need refilled! Hence the no tip.... the real tip is taste your food. V disappointed but I suspect due to how it looks not the food it will do ok

Eaten here on 4 or so previous occasions and had a great experience both with the food and service. Tonight took the edge off a little, while the starters were great one main course “Authentically risotto with the woodsy, mushrooms, asparagus” also contained chicken. While we didn’t explicitly ask if it was vegetarian there was no mention it wasn’t. The replacement came and when presented we were informed that they used chicken stock to make it, OK not ideal and at this point our mistake was not to ask for something different. This replacement dish also had pieces of chicken in it. So if you are vegetarian or vegan please ask about every dish as the menu does not give any information on base ingredients. Otherwise a very pleasant evening and all the other food was very good.

What a lovely place with great attentive staff and fantastic food

Visited for first time Wednesday 16th November with my husband and mother in law. What a surprise as we entered. From a fairly unassuming frontage, you step into a wonderfully presented dining room, with the warmest of welcomes. Everything about the setting exuded quality and attention to detail. We were presented with quite a variety of choices from the set price lunch, a real bargain for only £15.95 for 2 courses. On offer were delights including calamari, venison, sea bass and cod loin to name but a few. Refreshingly the huge portions of accompaniments were also included in the price. What I also love about these small, local restaurants over your big chains, is the fact that everything is cooked fresh to order. This means that small changes to how you like your sauces or requests for accompaniments that aren't on the menu (extra garlic in my sauce, cheese on my garlic bread), are all catered for without question. There was a great choice of wine too, all very reasonably priced. For the same price or even less than mass produced, warmed up pub grub, we were treated to wonderful food, great service and relaxed, elegant surroundings to enjoy it all in. We rated it so highly we immediately booked in for this week. We can't wait to go back to try more of the menu. Give this place a try, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

We were in the area staying at the most awful spa hotel and looking at the place decided to eat out. Googled restaurants and found La Stalla. Being a bit of a foodie I’m very nervous going out to eat as most places are not up to the standards we as paying customers should receive. Definitely not the case with La Stalla. What a gem of a place. From the reception we received to the quality of the entire restaurant and staff. The manager along with his staff were so nice and helpful. The food was obviously cooked fresh and so tasty. I don’t often give 5 stars to a restaurant but could not find anything to mark down. This restaurant is about an hour from where we live but would drive there for a meal no problem. If you fancy a very high quality meal please visit La Stalla and you wont be disappointed.

I was tonight at La Stalla with my fiancé to celebrate our engagement. It was the best evening ever thanks to La Stalla. The food was extremely delicious. Also, the service was excellent. Thank you Giovanni and Ollga for making this evening so special for us. Definitely the best italian restaurant in the UK.

Went here today with my daughters, we had a mixture of food and drinks. Service was excellent and so was the food. What got me the most was the cost, absolutely amazing prices for the surrounding and table setting. We are definitely going back👍👍👍

Had super lunch there today eith family. We all had something different. Starter, main and one pudding and ALL were simply delicious. Good size portions and don't order extra salad. Not needed. Iwouldnt hesitate to recommend and FREE packing locally for upto 2hrs in the day FREE parking after 6pm

My husband took me there for my birthday. It was fantastic. I had calamari as starter, it is the best calamari I have ever had (any restaurant offer calamari, I will try as there is a skill to cook perfect calamari), perfectly cook, no chewing at all, and quite a large portion. Main course veal was perfectly cook too. Two courses were only £14.95. Really cheap compare to other restaurant one main course will cost more than that. And the quality of the food is top-notch. The service was also top of the top. I cannot wait to go back.

A small but friendly place that serves up good food in pleasant surroundings

Excellent lunch for 12. Great quality food at a great price. Service was faultless and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Even a special little birthday dessert, with a candle, accompanied by a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday!’ from the staff. Loved it. Will definitely return. Thank you, La Stalla.

If you're into Sole, This is the place to go!

I'm hesitant between 3 and 2 stars. Good points: 1. Design. I really liked the shades of green and grey, with pink and rose. Looks good on photos with wine in pretty glasses. 2. There were 5 people serving, 1 guy kind of in command and 4 waitresses seemed to be in training, at least some of them. But I appreciate how well it all was organised and under rigorous control. Also one of the waitresses didn't know where the side belonged, and just silently dumped it on the wrong side of the table. Not so good points: 1.Overpriced, no doubt. It is seriously unforgivably overpriced. 2. The food was just mediocre for us, all my companions said they didn't enjoy their meals. 3. I really, really don't to see flies sitting on those beautiful design features (hmmm...) and attacking our plates. There wasn't one, but a few of them. See photos.

Fabulous food last night. Menu is a delight and service very good. The kitchen certainly knows how to deliver.

We had a lovely 3 course meal here on a busy Tuesday night. My boyfriend ordered lobster linguine and we were surprised to be introduced to the live lobster! Delicious food, good service. It takes a while to be served, but only because everything is cooked fresh from scratch

First visit nice building and decor however they only had 2 menus for us to share between 4 having made our choices the order was taken but not until that stage were we told that what 3 of us had chosen was not available apparently it was the end of the week and they had run out of quite a few items . I would have thought a Saturday night was the time they should make sure they are stocked up for. The young staff were friendly and reasonably attentive but frankly out of their depth not their fault the management need to ensure good training not being able to inform a bottle of wine is one case in point. The food when it arrived was perfectly acceptable and enjoyable despite not being what we would have chosen. Overall a nice place with potential it just needs better management to inspire and train the serving staff and perhaps a little more Italian atmosphere oh and decent toilets 1 shared between everyone is not acceptable.

On the way to the NEC we stopped for lunch at la Stalla restaurant Balsall Common for lunch. A true Italian Restaurant with a Table d'hote lunch menu , fabulous decor , welcoming staff. beautiful quality food and presentation , Felt as if I was on holiday in Italy. We shall go there again

A beautiful and intimate historic house which feels as if the owners had just left to go out for a walk. Beautiful setting and gardens.

A pleasant place to have lunch it was very busy the food was very enjoyable nicely presented. The staff were excellent cheerful and well manored considering they were under pressure and very busy. The village it is in is Balsall common and there is a problem with parking during busy times.The tiolet facilities are shared but very clean and in excellent condition.

I went there for the 1st time on Saturday night. Had the most fantastic meal, definitely the best meal I’ve eaten out in a very long time. Will definitely be going back there. The staff were so attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble Thank you for a fabulous evening

The starter was nice but the main was not nice at all. I had the tortellini with creamy sauce. It was like having pudding as it lacked any flavour. The staff looked very grumpy and not even a smile. Very unpleasant environment. They could be a bit more pleasant. Looks as if they hate their job

Wonderful food - the fish was wonderful, we travel and have experienced many dishes like this and it was fantastic. My husband and son had beef dishes and equally impressed. We had a cheese board and the glass of Port a lovely touch. I think trying to run a restaurant business in todays times has become tough and fully support such a great restaurant on our door step. The venue and staff where great. The food which the others ordered was lovely, they found it tasty but my veggie dish I felt let down. It was a pasta dish, the only choice for a vegetarian. As everything else was spot on, this felt a shame that as a vegetarian I didn't have the same experience as the others.

Attended a funeral today and was invited to have a meal at La Stalla afterwards.What a wonderful choice.It was the first time I have eaten there and I will certainly be returning.Cannot praise the staff and the owner more highly for the welcome,the food and service.The building is beautiful and the whole ambience adds to a thoroughly enjoyable experience.We weren’t rushed in any way and although it had been a sad occasion initially,it was a perfect afternoon for reminiscing and friends and family to get together.Thankyou to all for such a lovely afternoon Best wishes Angela

A great night with friends at La Stalla Italian. The staff were excellent (friendly, knowledgeable and engaging) and the food was 1st class. I had a delicious king Prawn dish to start followed by a perfectly cooked monkfish and topped off with a gorgeous Lemoncello, perfect. The interior of the building is modern and stylish with a hint of its past. It’s great to see Balsall Common expanding the quality of it restaurants. Highly recommend La Stalla Italian.

We went here last night. I had calamari to start which was the most tasty, fresh, delicious calamari I’ve ever tasted. My partner had mushroom bruschetta which was creamy and tasty. My seafood tagliatelle was so good, great portion, the taste was amazing and lots of seafood, loved it. My partners steak was tender and tasty. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The whole night was brilliant. We will definitely be back.

Had a lovely evening here. Great atmosphere, very chilled place. Lovely staff and lovely building. If there are any negatives, if you want to see it that way... they are, not the cheapest but all of the ingredients are fresh, no processed rubbish and a little wait for the food but it is all delivered to your table freshly prepared and cooked, piping hot and bloody delicious! For me it added to the evening, we expect everything so instant and it was lovely to have time and not rushed through. The lunch menu looked tasty too, one for the future. Can't wait to go back!!

We went on Sunday and to our surprise it was a Sunday Roast with no mention of this on the website. Expecting an Italian Menu as you would we were hit with the option of Roast Dinner or nothing. Not a very Italian option. I will say the food itself was gorgeous, one of the best Sunday Roasts we have had with a decent portion, fresh and a lovely setting to have it in. We will be going back to hopefully try some Italian food this time around.

Sunday Roast. Plenty of meat and very tasty, however I would have liked more vegetables on my plate, and only two roast potatoes.

This review is an update of a previous review I posted in December 2021. The original review detailed a mix up with a booking which resulted in my table being cancelled by the restaurant. I'm very happy to report that this evening my family and I dined at La Stalla and had a wonderful experience! All of the staff were polite and professional, nothing was too much trouble for them and the food was delicious!! My husband had a fillet steak and commented it was the biggest and best he'd ever had! The restaurant has a relaxed and cosy atmosphere with pristine white tablecloths and beautifully laid tables. I'm so pleased I rebooked and gave the team the opportunity to make up for the earlier disappointment. Giovanni actually went over and above what I expected by waiving the full cost of the meal. I really didn't expect that but it goes to show he is true to his word. A huge thank you for making my birthday meal extra special.

Food looked amazing but only got to sample starters .staff lovely..unfortunately the chef refuses to have anyone else cook other than himself so food wasn't coming out . After mis information on Web site which directed us to previous location and not the new location we had another 30 min journey .We were served our starter's but by 10pm we were still waiting for our mains so left,totally ruining our Christmas get together . To their credit they swayed the starter and drinks bill. But TOTALY DISAPOINTED!!😞
