Ye Olde Red Lion in Boston

Ate here last night as part of a group of six. I had never eaten her before although two of the group had. The food was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were even able to accommodate and please my very fussy wife! We will certainly be coming back again.

Really enjoyed our lunch. Couldn't fault it. Staff very friendly.

Fantastic meal on Halloween en route to Norwich. Great atmosphere, ( the girls were dressed for Halloween) great food and service. Going to try and call on our return journey.

This award winning pub is well worth visiting. The bar area is very warm and inviting, more so as it is not "corporate" decorated. There are some cosy tucked away tables for eating without being overheard. As for the food. Oh my gosh. The chef is truly an artist. All the ingredients are fresh, and the sauces are handmade, not out of a bottle. The vegetables are all seasonal. Whilst the main dishes are certainly not what might be offered in other locations. The portions are sufficient, but not too big to make it unpleasant when you've finished. The staff are very friendly and efficient and were a joy to interact with. We shall definitely be visiting again soon

First time visiting Ye Olde Red Lion yesterday but it won't be the last. Lovely quintessential English pub with good food and friendly staff. I had a set 3 course lunch and my wife had a la carte. The food was some of the best we've had in this part of Lincolnshire so we will be back. Thanks.

Had Sunday lunch, was our first visit. Food was very good, definitely worth a trip.

Nice & traditional olde-world rural pub atmosphere. Had a good selection of 0% Alcohol free beers (I'm almost always the driver when I stop here.)

Cold food, and luke warm hot drinks. Quick service but other than that pretty terrible.

We ordered 3 courses off the set menu. It was OK, nothing special, small portions although to be fair it was a low price. Don’t bother with the fried Camembert it sounds good however it’s just a cheap packet food - freezer to fryer, not that dissimilar to cheese bite’s from Mac D’s. Service was quite good. Beer was OK. We wouldn’t rush to return. Perhaps the main menu is better.

SO good here for a Sunday lunch. The best we've had locally. Can't fault it!

This is a very nice old pub. My only criticism is that we thought there could have been more options on the menu. Could not fault the food itself. Service and staff were excellent.

Our very first visit to this really awesome pub. We went for Sunday lunch and certainly weren't disappointed - excellent, clean venue, awesome friendly and attentive staff and really fresh properly cooked great portions of beautiful food. We'll certainly be back and can't recommend it highly enough; I just wish we'd gone before now as we've been missing out. Thank you for treating us so lovely and for such a wonderful experience.

Nice friendly village pub, staff friendly and helpful. Good range on the menu and set menu good choice of items. Nice range of beers on tap. Reasonably priced and well worth a visit. Will return.

A lovely discovery for us. We were travelling from Birmingham to Skegness with two young children. We decided to stop somewhere along the way for a break and some food. The food was amazing the best I've had and the staff were very accommodating, nothing was too troublesome. I wish this was closer to our home as we would definitely be regular customers

Food was delicious, the best ginger sponge pudding I’ve had. Service was a bit slow but being an out of towner I’ve learned this is a Lincolnshire thing. If I’m in the area, I will return.

i visited here with my friends and family and i couldn’t have asked for a better night the food was absolutely delicious the staff were very friendly and keen to help with any questions and provide us with what we need at the the time. i could not fault the table service one bit. the star of the show though had to be the food it was excellent quality and perfect portion sizes the venison and lamb were cooked perfectly and the fish was lovely and fresh. the dessert was just as lovely you could tell the cheesecake and baked Alaska (only desserts we had) were homemade!! the atmosphere was upbeat and lively for a local restaurant,! i would 100% recommend this to any other friends or family and will definitely be coming back!

Plese note... I wrote this review but in hindsight, I wish I had been able to speak to Rebecca first. This wasn't possible on the evening (for personal reasons). Having discussed it with her I think our difficulties can be put down to a lack of communication. Rebecca has been very gracious and we are definitely going to try here again as there was much to like...beautiful setting, lovely building, very clean etc. The food was also very good. 'First time visit with friends. Sadly not the best experience. Shown to a table at the far end of the pub in any empty room. The pub wasn't full or busy. We had pre-ordered as there were 8 guests. Waitress sat us down and left saying nothing. Almost 1 hour later no food had arrived and no waiting staff had checked in with us. One of our group went to chase up our order and a waitress then came to say our food was on its way. While I appreciate this is not in any way a fast food restaurant I do think that an hour is a long wait when you have pre-ordered especially with no attention or information from the staff. Two of us had ordered salmon. Our meal arrived with a small portion of fish which wasn't salmon. When we asked what fish it was the waitress said 'I think it's hallibut' but no mention of it not being what we had ordered. It might have been nice to have mentioned that there was a change to the order....perhaps a reason? I'm guessing salmon is readily available but perhaps it was sold out or hadn't been delivered that day....? The dish was nice ... Pudding was also very very good. Having cleared that away we were just left again.... eventually we managed to call out and a waitress bought the bill. Tbh it felt like we were a bit of an inconvenience and we had been forgotten.... We may try here again as we were hoping that this would be our new, local 'high end' dining 'go to' place.... not so sure now.' Ps. We will be definitely be visiting again. I am reassured that this was down to a lack of communication which I'm sure will be addressed in the future.

What a lovely pub! Staff were lovely and very attentive, and the food was delicious and presented beautifully. Will definitely be returning, highly recommended.

Very disappointing indeed. We have used this pub many times before and returned because of its excellence Our food today was cold, served on cold plates and we sent most of it back The manager was apologetic, of course, citing many positive comments from others. This didn't help as our lunch was ruined To her credit, she did deduct the cost of the mains. Sadly, really, we will not return.

Expected good things from a award winning pub left feeling disappointed,had a hour wait for dinner which I could understand as the place was busy being it was Easter Sunday but to wait another hour for cheesecake was totally unjustified felt sorry for the young staff who were serving or would of scored lower the lunch wasn't the best but the cheesecake was good

Absolutely love this pub. From the minute we walked in , it felt like the place gave you a big hug. Lovely atmosphere, staff lovely. Very cosy feeling. We had the Sunday lunch & we both throughly enjoyed it, in fact best Sunday roast I've ever had. Nothing disappointing from start to finish. Would highly recommend 👌🏽 well done 👏🏽 we will be returning ! Top marks !

We had our works Christmas meal here. It was fantastic. Couldn't fault it and the staff were amazing

Nice place. Food was just okay but disappointing for a place with such a good reputation. Not many vegetables for a group of 8 and just a dribble of custard on what we're supposed to be warm puddings. These issues were raised at the time and bill was reduced but still the quality was not good enough and 8 future customers have been lost

Love, love, love this pub. All the staff are super friendly. The food and wines are amazing. Big portions for the Sunday roasts and amazing quality. Can't recommend it enough.

Avoid if you have dietary requirements. Had a family meal here on Sunday, all those with non dietary requirements had an easy time. Informed restaurant 7pm the night before arriving that I am dairy free and was told I would be accommodated. I couldn’t inform them any sooner as I have a 3 month old baby. Baring in mind bottom of the menu says please make waitress aware at time of placing order…Roast arrived with just roast potatoes and meat. Had the beef which I do recommend as was still rare in the middle. My veg was forgotten had to ask waitress, couldn’t have the same veg as everyone else apparently, I was given peas (which I don’t like), broccoli stem (which I also don’t like) and cauliflower. Everyone else had parsnips carrots broccoli and cauliflower cheese. There were No deserts I could have was told I could bring my own. Was charged £2.50 for a scoop of ice cream placed next to desert brought. Those who had apple pie at my table said it arrived barely warm. A lovely warm and friendly environment though, it’s just such a shame I felt like I was such a massive problem. Probably great if you don’t have such a large booking or any dietary requirements.

just driving past and decided we were hungry, was not expecting it to be this good. great food, lovely pub interior, really lovely garden area and staff seemed nice.

**This review has been deleted on google** We had a booking for 12:30pm and arrived early at 12pm. The restaurant was empty but for a handful of diners. The waitress placed us on the worst table for two in the pub. She asked if this table was ok. I said no can we be moved to the table on the other side of the partition wall which was empty. She said no because someone has asked for the table when booking. However there was no reserved table sign on the table. The other tables of two which were better located were all empty as well. I am Indian so did she display unconscious racism by placing us on the worst table. When all the other tables for two were empty. I showed my disappointment in her placing us at this table when the restaurant was empty. She came back be placed us on another table for two which was on the other side of the partition. After when other white customers for a table of 2 came into the restaurant, they were not placed on the bad table which we were placed on. Even two old white ladies who were there before us weren’t seated at this bad table which is in a pathway to the other tables. They had arrived before us. I would understand if the pub was busy and then given this bad table. But to offer the bad table to the brown customer is bad practice. I think it’s unfair to be treated this way because of their unconscious racism. This did ruin the meal for me. This was our first time in Bicker. We were on our way to Sandringham for the Robbie Williams concert.

We hadn't been here for years, so decided to book a meal one night. The place is still as good as it was years ago, clean, friendly and the food was fantastic. Will definitely be coming here again.

Came here for my mums birthday the past two years, this time we were greeted with a birthday banner and card for my mum at the table which was a lovely touch that she very much appreciated. The pub is dog friendly, they put some water out next to our table for our dog which was very kind. The food was delicious, you can tell it’s all made with fresh produce, very tasty, presentation also great! The service was excellent, Beccy and the team were extremely accommodating and my mum couldn’t speak highly enough of the place the food and staff. Excellent trip out would recommend to anybody. Thank you for making my mums birthday such a great day out.

Excellent meal here last night! The service was impeccable!! The staff were so friendly, welcoming, informative about the menu, accommodating and nice and chatty. The food was absolutely delicious and the cocktails outstanding! Will definitely come again next time I visit my Mum! Many thanks to them for a lovely evening!

My wife and I had our golden wedding anniversary meal here, the whole experience was amazing from reception to service and food. I cannot rate this place highly enough. If I could give 11 out of 10 I would.

Amazing place. Food was very good but it is the service which stood out to me. The staff were all extremely helpful, very accommodating, faultless! The pub itself is charming with an amazing outdoor seating area. Highly recommended but booking is advisable because they do get booked up.

Food was really good, and the place always has a good feel. Lots of space, but broken up into several rooms.

Was expecting something quite special, but that didn't happen. The salmon was cooked really nice with a crispy skin but the lump of potato underneath was not nice and the 3 or 4 pieces of asparagus were over cooked ... and that's about it for £22 !!! My friend had steak with stilton sauce, but the sauce was not cheesy at all ... we even thought they'd given her mushroom sauce by mistake. We asked them and they said it wasn't stilton sauce because they didn't have any stilton so they used a different cheese. Dishonesty or a lack of communication I'm not sure, but it really is not good enough when they are charging Ramsay-esque prices. I will not be visiting this establishment again. I was so disappointed 😞.

Lovely pub/restaurant. Menus changes regularly so sometimes what you plan to have has changed but excellent food. Had a family party for a birthday they put up subtle happy birthday banner not large and over the top which was very nice.

Food great. Staff great (they managed my email ineptitude well). Will go again!

First time dining at the Red Lion and having eaten in many restaurants, this place should be rated as Lincolnshires finest. Full of Character Truly Excellent Professional Staff Amazing Menu that is well worth many more visits. Great Experience by far and good to see Excellence.

Unfortunately not a good time , arrived 7.10 for 7.30 table. Seated 7.40, then waited and waited . Eventually around 8.15 placed order. Waitress returned sorry out of ribeye steaks, ok 3 of us will have sirloin. She then returns sorry out of all steaks, duck and pies. We then asked for our bill as nothing else on menu we liked. We got a sincere apology and no bill for drinks and a complimentary bottle of champagne. For us a 140 mile drive to take parents for birthday meal ended in us going home and ordering a takeout which we eat at 10.30pm. Not good when we have 1 diabetic and 2 pensioners in the party. The place is lovely, I can only assume the food is good. I would have liked to give more stars .I give 2* because of the apology.

Having looked at the December sample menu, we called in the hope of finding a table at very last minute and the lovely lady on the phone was only too happy to accommodate us at such late notice. We arrived 20 minutes later to a warm welcome and such cosy surroundings. Having never been here before we were shown to our seats, advised that the menus change every two weeks and sometimes dishes are replaced every few days. Wow, what a menu. No sign of pate, soup of the day as starters, or ham egg and chips on the mains. Instead what greeted us was a menu full of delicious dishes, with options of having a tapas style evening or traditional three course. Tonight we opted for three courses of gastro delight. We both had the scotch egg to begin, accompanied with the endless dish of firm, juicy olives. The scotch egg itself was delicately seasoned with a delicious fondant egg. Alongside was the homemade piccalilli. For mains my husband had the filet stake with trimmings which he said was delicious. I had the seabass with fondant potatoes which was cooked so well and I left nothing. Finally even though there was no space, we couldn't resist the sticky toffee pudding having seen it pass us to other tables. It was such a light sponge, plus the ice cream allowed me to indulge in more. In summary this is not your traditional pub fayre, but a higher end restaurant with seriously good food, a wonderful setting and fantastic staff. We will be going again.

Good food and staff are friendly, would recommend but don't expect pub grub, it's restaurant standard and restaurant prices. Well worth it in my opinion. We are now a regular visitors!!

What can I say...... the best Sunday lunch I have had in years!!! The beef just melted in your mouth. The pork was full of flavour and the veggie sausages absolutely divine. The desserts were awesome. Nothing was too much trouble. The environment is warm and welcoming. Perfect. Thank you so much Red Lion staff. We will be back soon!!!!

Fantastic food. Great service and an impressive setting. Ye Olde Red Lion is a 17th century inn that has roof beams and plenty of character. I personally will definitely be going again.

First rate food. Just had the most fantastic Sunday lunch. This place is a must for those that like quality food. The 3 cheese bon bons for starter just set you up for what you knew was going to be a tasty main. We will be visiting again and again and again. Plus a few extra times for good measure. The service was A1 too made to feel very welcome.

Just popped in for a drink with my dog. Sat in the bar area. Great tradicional pub with comfy chairs and a very pleasant atmosphere. They have a pleasant garden with outside bar. The menu looked very tempting and everyone who I overheard paying were full of praise. Loved it. Update - went again with relatives and friends. The food was glorious and the service epic especially given the place was rammed.

Very nice. Only has small car park. Food was good. Really feel the steps down into the back garden definitely need a hand rail as they are steep and you have to drop down onto the steps so without a bannister you can fall or if elderly you could be badly injured. Otherwise a nice place to meet family and friends.

Second time here. Top notch food and selection of ale. Good affordable menu and generous portions. A friendly and cosy pub with more space than you think. There's a very nice outdoor area that's a good spot to relax and chat after a meal and quiet atmospheric after dark. Fair amount of parking but might struggle on really busy nights though you can park close to. Our son put us on to this one. Good lad.

Main meals are excellent not alot for your money tad expensive, sweet menu very poor...

Beautiful old Pub. Inside architecture is really interesting. Nice little Beer Garden with enough seating/tables and shade. Good beer and the food was amazing. Deffo going back here!

My friends and I have eaten here on a few occasions and it has to be one of the best places to eat in this area! Definitely beats most of the restaurants in Boston. Absolutely delicious food and great service. Probably a little pricey for some but you get your moneys worth as the portions are very generous and you will enjoy every single bite! Love this place and would eat here breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could.
