Decent local for a pint and good music. You can have a crack with the staff and punters whilst listening to some good tunes!

Give a five for food but didn't have any. I went to listen to a live band that was supposed to start at 20.30 I left at 21.45 without hearing a beat from the band,wil not be going again

Great staff on introduction, thoughtful and polite. Even loaned me an iPhone charger. Room has been recently refurbished and clean / comfortable . I would recommend.

Found this great little place when I needed a one night stay for work. I'm a nurse so hygiene and safety were my priorities. Well what a find! I was not disappointed. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. My room was exceptionally clean, warm and cosy with an ensuite bathroom, beautiful clean towels, free toiletries and refreshments. There was a TV and free WiFi and the decor was funky and fabulous. I enjoyed a lovely home cooked evening meal whilst soaking up the atmosphere and all in all had a lovely evening followed by a good night sleep. I couldn't fault this lovely little place, even found a free parking spot on the street outside. Will definitely be back. Annie B 31/10 - 01/11/22

Went with hubby and friend for a Sunday roast. It was absolutely stunning. The beef was tender, Yorkshire puds gorgeous, veggies cooked perfectly, lush gravy and plenty of it. The staff are super friendly, excellent atmosphere. The best roast I’ve ever had cooked for me! Dog friendly too. Will definitely be back!

Stayed for three nights in this clean and comfortable pub house with rooms . Access 24 hours via fire escape and through pub during certain hours . Had room room 4 which has a double aspect . Bathroom and toilet not in this room just across the way. Stairs between pub and rooms are fairly steep but manageable for all. Staff polite and friendly and good location

I booked a last minute stay due to having a funeral to attend. What a pleasant surprise staying here was. All the staff were welcoming (including Medina who showed me to my room), the room and private shower room were immaculate. Great value for money and the rooms are well thought out. I had an evening meal which was lovely, food & drinks reasonably priced. Beautiful river walk nearby

I have been drinking in the Carps since I was 18, I’m now 49. I had a flat on the corner of Red Lion Street and Wormgate and used to be in there all the time. Admittedly I’ve moved away but decided to revisit my old stomping ground and see if there were any familiar faces. The chap at the bar was served before us, ok, no problem. Then the two girls at the end of the bar were served, individually. Then the locals who came in after us were served., without a glance in our direction. I decided to walk out as they were taking the piss. So unless you are a regular I’d forget it, you probably won’t even get a drink. I’d give it a nought out of 5 if trip advisor would let me.

Great friendly pub , and amazing atmosphere, prices were spot on as well I also want to mention the amazing service I received of the young bar lady unfortunately I didn't get her name but she had red hair and was so attentive Definitely will be back with friends next time ..

We were booked in for 2pm for Sunday dinner Great service and the food was outstanding. There was a singer performing called CJ HATT he was great such a variety of song which is something you don’t hear very often. All round great afternoon

Had a fantastic stay for the Boston marathon. The staff were very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for you. After the marathon we were invited to use our rooms for a shower at no extra charge. Jen did an early runners breakfast. We would definitely stay there again

Just had a fantastic few nights at The Carpenters Arms Hotel while in the studio recording my next, hopefully big song with the help of some amazing guys. The hotel is perfect, clean, awesome decor (totally rocks) and the beds are extremely comfortable. Seriously recommend to all, stay a night and enjoy, Can't wait for the pub to open now. I cannot wait for The Carps to open again in May. Always a great time, music is amazing as they always have the best local bands plus you just never know who may walk in! The staff are the best also. So looking forward to some more fun soon!

Refurbished to highest standard, well maintained and a superb central hotel. Double rooms with en-suite and single rooms all to a high specification. Quiet and a bar that would normally be open if not for COVID restrictions although this didn’t effect our stay as working. Would definitely recommend and will be staying again..... I really feel at home in the Carps which is just as well as I am a long-term guest in the Carps' well-appointed accommodation which has a true rock and roll feel. I was the first guest and I have to say that, given the extensive renovation work that has taken place, it was all systems go from my first night's stay.

revisited an old haunt from 20 years ago and was pleasantly surprised. Refurbished and attracting a smarter crowd it's far removed from the grunge pub I remember. Great pint of Batemans XB

Great pub, good prices and live bands on a Friday night, now add on an outdoor nook pool table and friendly bar staff it's not a bad night out. The only minor negative is that shots are expensive

Nice old type local, but very loud music the night I was there...

This is a fun pub with a great Landlady (Carolyn). Down a little side street, it's reminiscent of how good pubs used to be before the conglomerates took over. PLenty of choice of drinks and a friendly atmosphere.

Popped in for one drink, left a complete mess hours later. Customers are a barking mad bunch but really friendly. Think this is my new local! They also support local bands so thumbs up all round.

The Carpenters Arms has just reopened , it is a great pub for meeting up with your friends and family, it is a lovely old pub , the landlady is a really nice and friendly person I can't wait to go back there . The pub does not serve food yet but it will be very soon

Whenever I visit this pub always gives me agreat welcome, friendly atmosphere always.Its nice to still have Boston's old pubs around.

Walking into 'the carps' is as comfortable as putting on your fav coat. And the guinness is excellent
