I was visiting the area and was having a bad day I popped in for some food on my own the staff were so lovely , the food incredible and I feel so much better what a lovely pub I’ll be back

Great traditional pub meal with lots of options to meet everyone's tastes. We went on a mid week lunch time and pre-booked. Would recommend booking a table in advance. Staff friendly and food good.

Not only the best valentine’s meal but the best meal I’ve had in years !

Family meal for 9 of us and every single dinner was superb. These included the best steak we have ever eaten, lamb kofte, chicken kiev, pie and burger. All plates were empty which is unheard of! All dishes were home made and you could really tell. The ingredients were of the finest quality and we could not have been more impressed. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful pub and restaurant on our doorstop. Staff are really friendly, lovely atmosphere and a lovely open fire to keep us all warm. We can't wait to go back!

Came here for Sunday lunch... booked in advance. Service was excellent and friendly staff throughout. Ordered Sunday lunch...Food was of high standard....beef wasn't as tender as I'd prefer but otherwise ok.

Service was slow and drinks forgotten Pub was empty when got there and took over half an hour for food to be served Ordered the lamb roast dinner and what can I say probably one of the worst roast dinners I’ve had Where do I start … the gravy was lumpy The roast potato’s where the size of my fist and not roasted had been chucked in a fat fryer and soaked up a load of grease The lamb was chewy and tasted bitter for some odd reason Yorkshire was dry Veg under cooked Never known rhubarb to go in veg mix on a roast The ground up mint sauce was un spreadable And the parsnips where smaller then a little finger and burnt Didn’t stay for dessert Wouldn’t go back

If you have to wait for the night ferry to the Netherlands and want to eat somewhere, this is a great alternative. 8 minutes from the Ferry and great food and a super cool lady behind the bar who serves you the delicious food. Highly recommended!

I always feel like I've arrived in England when we stop here after the ferry ride from Hook of Holland. There is excellent cuisine. The fish is really, really good and we come from Hamburg, one of Germany's fish strongholds, I think. The view of the sea at dusk while two horses calmly pluck their grass in the pasture in front of it. Here we played billiarb and sang along to always good music. Always a successful evening and it doesn't make saying goodbye to your beloved England any less easier. Nevertheless, always a successful end to the holiday. I Absolutely recommend going there! It's our go to restaurant before boarding the ferry & also our go to on the way back! Good food and also a fantastic view!

We have used this Pub for many years , the new owners along with a new aspiring Cheif have made it a totally new experience. With a constantly changing well thought out specials board and its all home made to boot 👍🏼. Keep up the good work We have just come back from my birthday Bash all 12 of us we’re over moon with the quality of the food and service , It arrived quickly , fresh , hot and with a smile what more could you ask for . Ordered 3 takeaway roasts for my elderly aunt who can not go out. We throughly enjoyed it. Extra thanks for lending us a jug with custard for the dessert.

The food is incredible, the best food in the area. The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The menu has lots of options to choose from. 10/10 recommend the food has so much flavour.

Nothing short of outstanding! The service was friendly and personalised. The steak was to die for, best I have eaten in a very long time. Peanut butter stack was delicious. A great night out with lovely friends for company. Gluten free menu available.

I visited today for lunch with a friend, this was my first visit. The food was great with a good choice of gluten free (do ask as there was more available than you would pick up from the menu). My main comment is regarding the service: it was excellent. The staff were really friendly and couldn't have done more for us. Will definitely return when I'm next in the area.

First time here; we just nipped in for a "swift half" on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and it's a lovely place. No doubt we will be nipping in again!

Came upon this pub by accident and in need of lunch. Freindly bar person helpful with menu even though it was 13.30. Dog freindly too! Food was typical pub fare but none the worse for that. We would definitely use again when in area.

Found them on Google whilst staying at Dovercourt Haven ,called last minute on fathers day and they were able to accommate us and the dog . Food was really yummy and plenty of it . Recommend a visit if you are staying locally . We.will be back to visit again Thank you to the team ..

Lovely lunch on a quiet Wednesday. Food was excellent, service was brilliant from the friendly staff. This was our first visit to Ye Olde Cherry Tree, we look forward to returning soon.

Appalling and Shocking behaviour by landlord the other Friday night . Their dog attacked a customers dog in the pub full of witnesses, and he agreed to cover emergency vet costs (in front of witnesses being staff and customers- fact) landlord has since become hostile with no remorse whatsoever towards the innocent dog owners, has also been witnessed making arrogant comments too about the incident. At the time of incident he even admitted his dog was territorial and not normally allowed in the pub. Shocking he’s now become hostile and shown no remorse! Owners of the dog who survived the attack are pursuing legal channels. Would hate for anyone else, even a child to be attacked by the landlords dog and then treated so badly by landlord. What’s even more laughable is the landlord is so unprofessional and is replying to other people’s reviews abruptly and arrogantly when he’s the one at fault!? And, blocking anyone who dares to share these facts. Appalling behaviour. Still not paid vet bill either, which landlord did offer to pay in front of customers and staff at the time (fact). Very sad. Fortunately the dog did survive and is on the road to recovery.

So just an update for those dog lovers out there. Following on from the Landlords dog viciously savaging a much smaller dog, in the so called dog friendly pub, the Landlord has still not paid the vets bill, as he promised to do in front of a bar full of customers. The victims owners have now had to pay out nearly £3000, had to cancel their holiday and are traumatised. So if you fancy a meal while watching your dog being ripped to pieces by a Great Dane, this is the pub for you!!!

Absolutely amazing. Staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you. Food was superb, we went on a Saturday night meat night. I had the OG mixed grill. Only one word can describe it. WOW. I was starving when I went in. It beat me. Couldn’t eat last chip and half. Food coma. THANKYOU , will definitely see us again.

First time to visit this pub and I wasn't disappointed, nice atmosphere, both cask beers in excellent condition, staff very friendly, Pool table busy with lots of local lads waiting to play, we didn't eat but best to check on availability on their website but the menu looked good. Also nice size car park beside the pub.

On Friday 12th May the pub's dog (A Great Dane) attacked a customers dog. We are in touch with the dog owners and the landlord has relinquished any responsibility after confirming he would pay the vet fees. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. The injuries were so severe the dog is still in a critical condition (see photos). I can only imagine what that dog would do to a child. Hopefully when the dangerous dog act is implemented the landlord will loose his license. Absolutely despicable behaviour by the dog and landlord. THIS IS NOT A DOG FRIENDLY PUB.

Whatever you do do not take your dog in this pub. The Landlord has a Great Dane, which came into the bar and savaged a customer's West Highland Terrier. The dog had to be taken to the emergency Vets. The Landlord agreed to pay the bill, but then renamed. The Westie had to have life saving surgery costing £2000!!

We had our first Sunday lunch, and it certainly won't be our last. It was delicious 😋

Sums up the type of establishment when the owner responds with veiled threats. Avoid people.. and just so you are all aware - only google have the IP address which is protected under GDPR. We went away for a night and wanted to treat ourselves to a nice dinner, the website was delivered what it promised, high end pub food. Very well kept local real ale (green jack) highly recommended. The seafood platter was amazing and the staff were friendly, helpful and chatty, not like other country/community pubs I've been to. I would go out of my way to go back.

Traditional pub with near traditional opening times. Service was friendly and welcoming. I was involved in a pool match there when I visited, so there was a nice atmosphere around the pub with two teams playing pool.

Came here for the first time today for food and drinks and without a doubt will definitely be visiting again and again! The owners have got this place right on every level. Upon entering the bar I was greeted by friendly, smiling people behind the bar which combined with the warm and cosy atmosphere made this a relaxing and comfortable venue to spend time. The Sunday Roast was simply superb! Having eaten at The Pier the previous week, I would honestly say that the standard of food at YOCT is better, especially the fluffy roast potatoes. I can't praise this venue enough and can't wait to come along when they host a quiz night or have live music. Thank you for a wonderful first, but certainly not last, visit :-)

Absolutely brilliant, We arrived as a party of 8 with multiple allergies - couldnt have been more helpful. We had a great meal, huge portions. We actually returned the next day after a hideous experience at the Waterfront, Dovercourt. thank you so much to the staff and the chef. Very much appreciated our safe and tasty meals.

Driving by took a chance, pleased we did. Generous portions of very good food, starter, mains and pudding. Large menu, larger gin menu!! Landlord very friendly and accommodating, cosy welcoming.

We always pop in to the Cherry Tree when visiting family. The Pub / restaurant has had a few managers over the years but now the owner has taken it back. Food very good place clean serves a good pint of Guinness.

Nice pub in the middle of the nowhere

A bit off the beaten track. Very quiet when we popped by but welcoming nonetheless. Absolutely no criticism implied by this but I don't think our visit saw this establishment at its best. Don't let this put you off. I reckon this would be a cracking village focal point in the right circumstances.
