Sorry to have to say, but today's visit was very much unexpected, I ordered garlic bread with my meal, I never knew so much mold came with it. More mold than bread, I would have expected the person prepping the food to notice or the server. Sadly that was not the case. And I was served this. Just to say. Unlikely Inwill be back there.

Had lunch @ this pub. The food is excellent, and the staff are fantastic. They ALWAYS make us feel like we’re part of the family! Can’t wait to go back 🥰

We popped in for lunch as we were in the area on holiday. The menu is quite small, but they do offer a specials board aswell. Everyone's meals were really delicious and the staff really friendly. The chips are very tasty, like little roast potatoes, definitely worth getting some of those as a side. Loads of off road parking and also an outside seating area to sit on warmer days

Went for a drink after a funeral. We packed the place out as there was about 30 of us, only 2 bar staff on but they did well to get everyone served as quickly as they could.

Had wonderful food here, 4 different meals each one absolutely perfect, andrea took care of us throughout, looked after our need thank you.

Excellent lunch at a very clean pub . Service was polite and prompt , good specials board and all the food was very well cooked . Good value for money .

We had a private function with a DJ, the staff were very polite helpful and friendly, they supplied the food which was served hot and delicious. Toilets very clean.

My husband and daughters food was good. They had pie and mash and the scampi. I had a burger. The roll and the burger were solid. Possibly microwaved!! The chips were lovely 😍 overall, good but not cheap.

Went here for my Father's wake back in April 2024. Very nice establishment, well maintained and looked after, nicely decorated and clean. Staff were really helpful for the afternoon. Buffet looked great, tasted great and lasted for those of us there. Hot drinks were available and other drinks were well priced. Even had a garden for the few kids in attendance to be able to go out and have a run around. Maybe next time we are in the area, we'll try having a meal.

We went for a funeral may 9th 24. The staff were kind, courteous and amazing. Food was good. Beautiful sunny day, so the garden was an added bonus.

Nice friendly local. We were staying at Homelands caravan park, so only a short walk. Beer and food is great👍🏻

Have a meal with my family a very nice pub, if you want food it's best if you phone to book a table , the food is very good, big portions, the service was brilliant, a definite go to place for a very nice meal.

We took our friends there on Friday while we were camping at homestead lakes, the lovely owners were having a night off so we were met, served and so well looked after by all the lovely ladies who work there. The food and service was impeccable. They are so dog friendly water and treats were brought straight to the table for our dogs. I highly recommend the black boy

Had a lovely family lunch here with the dog ! Very welcoming, busy but not overcrowded. Food was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced too. The staff were very polite and helpful and this pub is really dog friendly, you can sit inside and we were offered water and dog biscuits. Well worth a visit.

A very friendly pub ,always great service

Had husbands 80th birthday meal here 10 adults and 4 children, had not been here before, we were all very impressed. Staff very helpful and friendly in spite of being very busy. Took photos for us and very good with children, food excellent

A large party of us had Christmas lunch here. The food was lovely and plentiful, service was great with a really good atmosphere they went the extra mile, definitely recommend this lovely pub.

Whilst we were there for a wake and not a meal I have to say the buffet was very good and staff handled everything very well.

Went for Sunday lunch. Waited 45 minutes for meal. I had roast beef which was inedible as was so tough. Dinner was swimming in gravy. Not for me, won’t be returning very disappointed.

Love it here,been countless times while at homestead, people and staff very friendly, could be the motorbike? Edit: another 200 mile round trip done, my brother, 600 miles, totally worth it, two great nights in a row, of course alcohol plays a part in increasing and colouring the enjoyment level but this is hands down the friendliest pub I've ever visited

We were an 8 family group. Great service from Andrea and helper. We felt so well looked after and had a really good laugh. Definitely recommend for a relaxing low key evening meal.

Mum had her 90th surprise party with about 29 people everyone was served quickly food was hot and delicious

As out of towners we we're hoping for a bit of traditional home cooked pub grub this afternoon. That's exactly what we got and was blown away by the quality. Best fish and chips I've had at a pub, huge portions and freshly cooked. The amazing bar staff even went out they're way to get me some take away ice!! A real gem this place, don't drive past pop in you won't be disappointed.

We held a wake here and my wife had lunch. The food was well prepared and there was a good selection of dishes. Staff were friendly and helpful. The pub is close to Weeley crematorium, so they are well organised for wakes. There is plenty of parking. Clean toilets. My wife enjoyed her lunch, though she thought it was a little expensive. Unfortunately, the restaurant closes at 6:00 pm.

Just had my Gran's wake here. The staff were amazing and very respectful. They also done a gorgeous buffet.

We attended this pub for a wake. The staff were very diligent and thoughtful with regard to our needs and situation. A lovely venue, steeped in history, and has a story to tell. Well worth visiting, if you're in the area, and fancy a drink or two.

Lovely location with outdoor seating. Small menu but a good selection. I had the Quorn roast, the Quorn was probably fried so it was hard, should be cooked in the oven in stock. Overall a very good experience and we had a very attentive male waiter.

We stopped in on our way to the coast. Very welcoming locals, and visitors, pub. Dogs welcome too: our Jack Russell was spoilt rotten - received her own personal drinking bowl and some biscuits from our lovely friendly waitress. Food options are what I'd describe as standard traditional pub food options. We chose fish n chips with mushy peas - incredibly fresh fish which flaked with your fork in a crisp tasty batter. Very naughty but nice chunky chips. Plenty of parking and garden if you want to sit outside. So, if you're looking for somewhere to have a 'local' welcome break, try The Black Boy.

Visited this venue recently for a wake. The food and service was less than impressive and the location was freezing cold with radiators turned off

Table for 8 went there on Saturday 14/01/23. Service abysmal. Thick as anything dimwit waitress leaning across the length of the table to deliver food - draping her cardigan into people’s meals. Asked her to go round and serve properly several times but she was too thick to understand and kept doing it. The same moron served two cups of coffee to someone with a heart condition who had specifically requested decaf before telling us they don’t do decaf coffee - what kind of restaurant doesn’t do decaf coffee? The food: fish and chips - batter was burnt, fish was watery and obviously cheap frozen stuff. Why did you demand to know our meals in advance? It’s all cheap cooked from frozen rubbish!! The liver and bacon was a microwave meal. Dover sole was cold. Onion rings were frozen from a cash and carry - served cold and greasy. Somewhere on their website it mentions fine dining? Gawd knows who got that idea? One of the delusional idiots pressing buttons on the microwave?! The bread and butter pudding was vile - soggy and cold. At least microwave stuff properly and check temperatures for goodness sake!! The restaurant was freezing cold on arrival. The food was awful - the service was worse. The old woman serving drinks and holding glasses by their rim was just disgusting. Place has no redeeming qualities or atmosphere at all. The only thing worse than the staff was the food. No tip left - but in hindsight, here’s one, give up running a restaurant, you’re rubbish at it! Oh, and employ staff who aren’t so thick they could live on plant food!! No food safety awareness whatsoever. Will be making a complaint to local environmental health department.

Went for lunch. Food was fine. The restaurant has windows all the way around, as the heating was not on (in January) we were cold throughout the meal. There was a radiator next to us. We tried turning it up, but no luck. The service we poor. The waitress stood at the end of the table to hand out food, rather than walk around the table. Several times we had to stop her cardigan going into our food. We asked for a decaf coffee which was served to the table. Later, we asked for one decaf and one normal. When brought to the table we asked which was the decaf, to be told they didn't do decaf coffee! First and last time visiting.

I really struggle when things aren't totally as good as they could be. The food was alright, the service did leave a little to be desired tbh. Maybe I set my standards too high. Good luck to the place.
