I waited 2 hrs for my food after I made 4 phones calls to you ? I was told 20 mins after every phone call .. my food never arrived and you stopped answering the phone …. Update after 2 hrs and 35 mins my food arrived but I declined at the door after having to feed my children something else as they couldn’t wait any longer . Not sure why the delivery driver returned to my property after 5 minutes ? (I went out ). I saw him on my ring doorbell ?

After coming to Clacton to visit family we decided to visit this restaurant after hearing such good things about it. When we arrived it was empty and we decided to eat in the restaurant. The gentleman who offered us a table was so nice and friendly and we were pleased to be able to be seated. After some time another gentleman brought us our food with an awful attitude it really turned our thoughts and feelings about this place from pleasant to frankly diabolical. When he arrived again to clear the table he slammed things down and didn't even have the courtesy to ask if we enjoyed the meal. The food itself was wonderful but the service from this particular gent was rude and honestly, I would not recommend anyone eating in the restaurant but will gladly order takeaway in future. It is such a shame how one person can ruin an experience.

Only had takeaway, but the food was beautiful, I enjoyed every bite. While waiting for my takeaway I looked around the restaurant and it's very plush a very nice place to come and enjoy a delicious meal, I would have eaten in but my other half does not like Indian food. I had chicken vindaloo, saag aloo, Bombay potatoes and pilau rice and it was beautiful, delicious and would recommend it all.

In a few words: A descent Indian at a reasonable price, nothing to write home about though. Longer review: Having never stayed in Clacton-On-Sea before, I looked online to find what I would consider to be a descent Bangladeshi restaurant for our take away night. The food we ordered was ok, the Chicken Korma was slightly more watery than my sister usually has though. I ordered the Naga chicken as it stated it was hot, however I would have liked more Naga chilli’s - if you desire hot food then ask for extra heat, I will next time. On the whole though, it was a good meal, just not to the standard of our local Indian back home. The price though was good, so much cheaper than other curry houses I have used. For three mains and 4 side dishes, we paid £44 (at time of writing) which fed 3 adults and 1 teenager. The only downside to the experience ordering with Saffron was the service. I wouldn’t say it was bad, the staff seemed friendly enough, however when ordering online you are entitled to a 10% discount on orders over a certain value. We couldn’t order online as one of the tabs to select dishes was faulty and when I challenged the full price for collection, front of house challenged me on this saying it was not valid. After half a minute or so of rational conflict the team honoured the discount, but a simple smile and acknowledgement of my dilemma would have warranted a much higher rating from me. I will likely use again if we stay in Clacton in the future.

I've been using Saffron for years and it's absolutely spot on every time. Each dish is so flavoursome and any time I've used another Indian restaurant due to a friend booking them, it's never the same. I've ordered hundreds of times from these guys and never had an issue. They're always happy to make a dish spicier (how I like it) or less spicy (when I order for my mother or partner), extra sauce or anything like that - they always go above and beyond and the extra mile no problem. One of the easiest 5 stars I've ever given!

They do get extremely busy. If you place an order online for collection, it’s worth giving them a call to find out when best to pick it up. They have the lightest naans I have ever eaten and the curries are pretty decent. Their customer service is very good.

The ambiance and food both were amazing and I recommend everyone to go for dining here. The food was too delicious and the pricing is pocket friendly.

My husband and I went for dinner at Saffron Indian Restaurant and we really enjoyed the food and ambiance. Their menu offering an amazing selection of dishes which gives diverse tastes and preferences. The food was best, yummm and fresh so I highly recommend everyone to go there and have the best taste of dishes. It's truly a must-visit destination for any food lover.

Worst experience of my life having indian food in the UK. @ the owners: Having red the previous reviews, I understand where you guys are coming from, but I believe you will be good at taking criticism as it is for you guys to do better. Being an Indian myself I have dined out in many indian restaurants. I usually don't write reviews to highlight negatives,but this time I had to. Food 1/5 Service 0/5 ( basics- no water was offered before or after the meal) The restaurant was average. While called to inquire, they claimed to have good vegetarian options. However, they weren't having much options in compare to other Indian restaurants. We ordered poppadums, aloo chat, jeera rice and daal tadka which I believe is very basic and you cannot go wrong with it. Poppadums were served with 6 types of dips/ salad. While serving they didnt ask if we want them or not, however at the end they charged £2.50 for the dips which wasn't right. Usually you get free dips ( green chutney/ red chutne) with poppadums. for clarity, none of the indian restaurants change extra for chutney/dips/salad unless ordered separately. Highly disappointed with aloo chat as it was no where near to the chat. It was basically aloo sabzi without yogurt, tamarind chutney and green chutney. If you are craving for chat, DO NOT ORDER IT HERE. then comes Tadka daal and jeera rice. The rice was good and 5/5 for it. However, the tadka daal was very blend and was missing tarka in it. Basically it was just boiled dal with turmeric and salt. @ the owners ( after reverting to my review) : I believe you guys are lucky that Google doesn't allow reverting to your response. And looking at the previous customers reviews, it prove why people claim that you guys are arrogant and not good at taking criticism. You may be award winning restaurant in past, but the way you cater your clients and the ways you react to the criticism, it feels like you do not want to know the truth. Any good restaurants you go to, drinks are different, and offering water is different. Furthermore, your clients may be enjoying the chat because they do not know what the authentic chat is. I am sure you know how to access YouTube. Search for it and you will get plenty of good recipes. Also, your clients come to you to have good dine in experience and expect good quality food, not the food without taste. What's the point if they have to navigate you on adding salt/ tarka / spices. Basically, the Daal was totally without any spices. I know that is harsh, but you need to know the reality. You can be arrogant and be in denial claiming your food is nice. it's your loss, not mine. My review was genuin to help you improve your services. But it looks like you are far from reality. Good luck guys.

Went with my cousin Braedon WJ Frank. Let me tell you guys, this is some, excuse my French, DAMN good curry!!! Exceptional food only exceeded by the sky high quality of service. Can't wait to go back ASAP, WHOS IN!?!??!?!?

I can't begin to tell you how bad this place is.... waiter was arrogant, chicken was dried out (should have known .... never get a take away from a restaurant on a Sunday... its just left overs from the night before)... food was cold.... and if you ever had the most boring meal you've ever experienced then this place will beat that!!! Dry, bland, expensive and above all poor quality... there are plenty of others in the area..... trust me go to one of those.... !!

Had a fantastic meal with my Sister & Brother in law. The food was delicious and fresh, the waiter was friendly and fun! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Genuine Indian Cuisine, cooked to perfection and at a fair price point to reflect the quality. Really delicious food, great portion sizes and taste. Having tried many Indian Restaurants over the years, I can safely say this one of our hidden Gems. I'm looking forward to a dine in experience in the near future.

Only moved to the area fairly recently. I love Indian food. Ordered a delivery last night. The food really was truly amazing. Next time my family visit that's where we will be going. No connection to the restaurant but I can't recommend it highly enough.

I have frequently sampled food from the Saffron and to-date, they have not let me down! Last night I tried their lamb chops, chicken curry and prawn bhuna - all of which was delicious! Service from the staff is impeccable and they treat you like family! Cannot wait to go back and try more of their dishes. Keep up the good work!! 👍

A real shame, looks really nice from the outside. Staff were friendly. However. Ordered sag paneer, which had no paneer. It was melted cheddar. Lamb madras was chewy and abit bland. Lamb tikka pasanda (one of their specialties) was bland, and off colour. A portion of poppadoms was a single poppadom. Keema rice and naan were okay, but really shouldn't be messing those up.

Three takeaways all really nice, best in that area by far.

Wow! Top food and I know my indian food having visited the country 5 times. My partner said its the best she has ever had, equally has a good pallet. The flavours kicking around in the mouth were amazing 👏 Samir who took the order was great and recommended a vegetable dish out of this world (Daan sauk) Lovely service from delivery driver. Can't wait to visit again when in town!

Waited over 2 hours for our order. It was one of the worst Indians we’ve had. Chicken very over cooked, tikka tasted horrible and almost chemically. Naan was tasteless soggy mess. 0/10 don’t go here.

Nearly 2 hour wait for our delivery. It they were that busy there should be a note advising so that we may of had the choice. Two of our party were diabetics so the delay impacted on their health. Never again

Member of staff was disgusting to a group of people sat by us, made a fool of himself in front of whole restaurant and the manager stood back seemingly frightened of him. Same guy made threats to people making bad reviews, saying he knew where they lived. Let that sink in.

A Business Man's Indian Restaurant Review: - ************************************** I am a well travelled Business Man and have sampled Indian Food from around the world. I have been coming to the Saffron Restaurant since it opened 22 years ago with my friends and family, even my Business Friends and Colleagues. Banquet night Thursday and Sunday is always a good opportunity to try another dish, and the waiters are always willing to advise you on the menu. In fact over the 22 years, I believe that I've been through the menu and never ever had a bad meal and had a need to complain and the food is always good value for money. The service is always excellent and the majority of staff are family either in the kitchen or in the restaurant. If I haven't booked a table, the fanily will always endeavour to accommodate my needs and if they are unable to then their Takeaway Service including deliveries to some areas within a suitable radius is always considered and in all cases you can Book a table Online and Order a Takeaway Online. Unfortunately you'll never please all of the people all of the time because unfortunately we all have our own perception of good food and service. But I hope that I have dispelled any doubt or apprehension that you may have in visiting the restaurant. As I say - If in doubt Check it Out I'm confident that you won't be disappointed. Great atmosphere friendly waiters food is 5******

We class this as our ‘regular’ Indian restaurant. Food is fantastic, I’ve been to a lot of Indian restaurants and this is up there with the best. Service is brilliant- the waiters remember our regular drink and food orders and are always really friendly and hospitable. Highly recommend.

We come to this place at least once a week and have been for a year now. Always awesome, good is the best in Essex in my opinion and the staff are friendly, good humoured and very helpful.

I took my brother and his wife for a meal as he turns 60. We had a really lovely evening. The food was great as was the service. I also thought the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend it and I would definitely go back again.

Ordered a £90 takeaway when it arrived was missing a main dish telephone to ask for replacement manager in the background was rude rest of the family finished there dinner before mine arrived also all the food was warm and tasteless this is the second time this has happened safe to say this will be the last time

Ordered takeaway and was appalled. It was tastless so bland. The bread was the only good thing. Everything lacked flavour. The butter chicken was also worrying as it looked grey in colour.

I made a online order. 23-07-23. @19.50. Delivery time, 45-60 minutes. I called after 90 minutes, to find out, how long. Was advised very rudely. That it was not ready, due to a driver not tuning up! He must, also. Double up as a chef. 🤦‍♂️ never actually tasted the food to comment!

Best restaurant in Clacton by far, good service lovely fresh food big portions for your money and alway same consistency nice pieces of lamb and chicken in dishes and can definitely tell the meats aren't frozen as it’s so tender and juicy and every thing is fresh as they are busy they are preparing daily. Best place for a curry. MUST TRY IF YOU HAVEN'T.

tikka chilli masala - lamb was very chewy but sauce was very nice. Korma was rank to be completely honest, wife couldn't eat it. Staff were miserable and rude. No real atmosphere. Sneaky little charge at the end for the chutneys that I didn't ask for or want. (Icing on the cake). My reply to the owner - I think if it is so important for you to correct my mistake on the chicken korma which you are correct it was a korma sauce, I think it is equally important to note to you it was a plain rice not pilau. You asked my partner if the food was OK on 1 occasion when I was in the toilet and when we were leaving. Your reviews are varied mate so get off your high horse and put your thesaurus down. Fair enough reply but at least be honest. Oh and regarding the chutneys maybe its a regional thing because im local to London and I have had too many Ruby Murrays to remember, and I haven't ever been charged unknowingly.

We had a meal in here recently and I’ll go on record to say it’s the best Indian meal we’ve had in Clacton. We went on a Wednesday and it was really busy so I’d recommend booking. Special mention to the attentive staff that guided us through our order and saw to our every whim. We will be back

You won’t regret ordering from saffron if you appreciate beautiful tasty authentic food that is consistently high quality then you won’t go wrong with saffron don’t bother trying anywhere else saffron is the best !!

Usually this place is a great family run restaurant, however my most recent visit wasn’t great, slow service, it appeared they just wanted us to drink all night, I’m happy to buy drinks etc but please at least take our orders for food and have it out within 2 hours… It just seemed like takeaways was flying out the doors but nothing came into the restaurant, it got to the stage every cheered when a trolley came out. Please prioritise customers in order and take orders in a timely manner so the kitchen at least can start.

Definitely the best curry in the area - we had such a delicious meal here tonight. The food was outstanding and the service was very friendly and professional. My mother remarked that the loos were spotless too - always a bonus! Can’t wait to come back.

Been going to the saffron twice a week sometimes and always great food… actually went to bricklane recently for a curry… and it never had a patch on the safton have to say the saffrons the best curry house me and my wife have been to HIGHLY recommend it !
