Great old pub full of characters

Ye Olde Blue Bell and had a wonderful time. The pub provides the perfect setting for a digital detox, offering a cosy atmosphere where you can just enjoy the moment and speak to the other patrons. The pool table is a great addition, making it ideal for some friendly competition while having a drink. I sampled their own-brewed beer, and it didn’t disappoint. I went for a mixed a bitter and mild together. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the overall vibe made it a great place to unwind with friends. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy some good drinks and fun!

Excatly how a pub should be.... Fantastic choice of beers and the hand pull oak cask bitter is the best around!

Me and my wife have been visiting this pub for a few years now,Carl and Diane make this place and have always made us feel Very Welcome,The Stout is the Best you will find anywhere,we love this place and always have a great laugh with all the regulars and staff,no traditional pubs like this anymore in Hull.,if your not bothered about using your mobile or listening to loud music then give this place a visit, you won't be disappointed .

My first time visiting this pub, even after living in Hull for over 20yrs. Popped in with a friend, bought a very reasonably priced couple of pints (£6.40 for two pints). Whilst he used the facilities, I briefly went on my mobile...in which case the polite bar maid highlighted the sign about 'Digital Detox' pub...and I thought...whats all this about, encouraging conversation. Fast forward several hours and my friend and I had been engaged with 3 differing sets of conversations with some of the other bar patrons. A very refreshing break from the screen zombies you usually see in most places these days. Will look forward to my next chat 👍😁

Sam smiths , so no electronics allowed

One of hulls best kept secrets and the current landlady and her partner are such good hosts.

A nice traditional English pub with a quite bizarre mobile phone ban. Pity they don't sell Guinness but their stout is ok.

I love Sam Smith's pub's, I'm glad I found this one in Hull. I can't say enough good things about this pub, it's so full of character, nice friendly staff. The no phones is absolute bliss

Its a nice pub but because its a sam Smith pub. No tvs. No mobiles but its usually busy. No food.

One of my fave Hull pubs. One of the oldest too. Wish they would consistently supply the brilliant Sam Smith Wheat beer!

Hidden away down an alleyway. Fine reasonably priced pub. A bit rough and ready but relaxed atmosphere. No phones or laptops allowed. Enjoy a pint here and time travel back to the 70s. Enjoy

One of Hulls oldest and hasn't changed inside for years. Very comfortable, very reasonably priced and very friendly.

The Ye Olde Blue Bell is a traditional unspoiled Sam Smith's pub tucked away down a narrow alleyway between the entrance to the market and the Hepworth Arcade. It's a nice cosy pub with the usual Sam Smith's own brand beers and lagers no guest beers. Like other Sam Smith's pubs no mobile phones or electronic devices allowed, no swearing no music, no dogs.

Great hidden pub. I get the impression it hasn't changed much in 50 years and that's a good thing. Nice pint, friendly landlord and it's cheap too. Recommended.

Sign on the door says they now take cards, but still no use of electronic devices so no use to me, note that Samuel Smith's pubs are no longer as cheap as they were. Pool & darts.

Really enjoyed my couple of pints here on a trip to Hull a few months ago. Great beer in a fantastic, authentic atmosphere. Got chatting to a couple of the regulars and the lady on the bar as well - a rare experience in pubs today. Highly recommend

Great pub, old style, no loud music, good beer

This is a very traditional tavern. This is a place for a refreshing beer with minimal modern attitudes and habits. You are welcome to relax and ditach yourself from the modern world 'without' your electronic devices and join in on the conversation or sit and read your paper. NO swearing, NO shouting or any unsocial behaviour. 'That's the rules!!!' should you forget these conditions, you will quickly reminded!!!!!! So, rewind the years and enjoy a pint without any modern interruptions, it's a real treat!

Good old fashioned pub, how they used to be.

Used this pub for over 40y when drinking in the Old Town. Not really changed over the years which adds to it's character. Some people don't seem to like it's rules due to the fact all technology use is banned (cash only) along with a zero tolerance of bad language. But if some people can't refrain from using their phones while having a drink and a conversation it's not the place for them but we like the idea.

A true hidden gem, a true historic pub in hull's Old Town, very cosy with its open fire, traditional ales and spirits, no Internet, no music, no swearing. A great pub to visit and to meet up with friends and family. Spoil yourself and pop in for a pint or two

Quirky olde world pub, not to everyone's taste and although the old-world theme is part of the style there's a lot of places in the pub that are actually in need of repair and replacing which ruins the otherwise quaint charm of the place and makes it seem ran down. House drinks which are cheap but also limited menu which is standard for Sam Smith pubs, but could be a surprise to anyone wondering in on an evening out!

The taddy lager is the excellent. It's got a no mobile tablet zone which we was in and got told off for using our mobiles . Fair enough. It's good for nice quiet pint

I have drank in this pub for years always very friendly and it went without saying best beer in the town unfortunately we are told we have to drink what the owner says puts prices up ok but then takes out the best selling beer I think he needs to get a life or retire . Fom one millionaire to another get it sorted!!!

It's a quiet pub if you want to go out for a talk but if you want a lively night this is not the pub for you. Think the no mobile ban is ridiculous.

While the range of drinks served is good and very affordable, the ban on electronic devices deters younger customers from visiting the pub. There where a good number customers at the time of my visit, however I feel this pub isn't to my taste.

A no-nonsense boozer, and one of my favourite pubs in Hull. Cheap quality ale in a chilled environment. Ideal whether you want to socialise or be left alone. It is a Samuel's pub, so there is a no electronics or swearing rule—as long as it's not excessive of disrupting others, I think you're ok. Just don't take the mickey.
