Another great Sunday lunch at Ye Old White Heart. The vegetables were cooked just as we like them. Excellent service from Ella and Clare.

My wife and I had Sunday Lunch at Ye Old White Heart and we were both impressed by the value and quality of the food, and service. We both thought the Sunday Lunch was the best we have had. A special mention for the excellent service from Claire and Annie. We will definitely be going back with friends. Highly recommend.

We stayed for 4 days in one of their rooms with magnificent views over the River Crouch. Would have been nice to have more choice at breakfast, perhaps by adding a fish choice. Comfortable bed in a nice room.

My wife and I popped in for a drink and decided to stay for a meal, the selection is really good and I can personally recommend the mixed grill. Absolutely excellent. The place is clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit. Stuart and Marilyn. Blackpool.

Well we were met by a gleeful harridan who happily informed me that despite being a bed and breakfast was not included. Some obscure clause written in the booking .com website about meal options not being applicable. (you work that out!). The room was at the top of a very steep staircase but characterful. The room itself was a good size with a view over the front of the pub and the river which was nice. All the furniture was old and worn. The carpets had seen better days. The problem was that the room was dirty with an accumulation of dust from some considerable amount of time on the table. The bathroom was tiny. It was in a poor state of repair and it was filthy. The taps were broken, as was the toilet set. Tiles were stained and mouldy and the toilet unsanitary. The tea and coffee making facility which we were relying on since they refused us breakfast did not have any milk so that was the end of that! The final joy was at about 3am when a group of local youths encamped out at the front of the pub and started partying for a while. Other than that, the stay was perfect (great car park for instance!)

Friendly and helpful staff, limited menu but a good enough choice. Pub grub well cooked. Several fish dishes and my wife ordered the skate and was very impressed. All 4 of us enjoyed our choices. Good prices and a nice atmosphere despite vivid.

Not worth a visit - food and drinks not great (flat soft drinks and very basic salad) and service was pretty poor.

We have had dinner in the bar on regular occasions this year and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly, the food is tasty and always piping hot, with generous portions. No distracting music, homely open fire in the winter months. And the beer is good too! We look forward to our next visit. By the way, this pub is called Ye Old White Harte (not Heart)

Dined here for the second time and again not disappointed. A nice setting overlooking the River Couch, friendly attentive staff and good quality food. What more could one ask. Will be back.

The building is amazing with a really nice feel about the place. Good range of beer . There is a seated area out the front that hangs over the water, very nice.

Old-fashioned pub with beautiful interior and fireplace. Good beer and lovely skate meals. Great little drinking quay on the river. We always come here when we are in the area. Great place in summer or winter.

We enjoyed lunch here in the restaurant (as opposed to the bar) and had the 'special' which was truly delicious. Everything was very well cooked and served, and to my mind, not that expensive considering all 'sides' were included. However, as they definitely serve fresh ingredients, inevitably these sell out; the next diners who came in also ordered the same but were subsequently told it was now 'off'. The food is indeed very good and the place is friendly, but maybe confirm your chosen dish is actually available...

After a day's sailing we decided to go to the White Hart as its looks appealing from the outside. You can eat in the bar or go into the restaurant and pay more so we opted to go into the restaurant, expecting a dining experience. Having confirmed that skate was indeed still on the menu when we sat down we were told it wasn't - basically the reason for going. So a change of menu for 3 of our 6 party. The staff were not able to competently say what alternative meals comprised off. The food was average and a bit on the expensive side for what we had - e.g steak was nearly £20 a head. Someone had duck and normally served pink this was still quaking and the skin had not been seared off so was very unappertising. Napkins were red paper serviettes need I said more! We didn't have dessert needless to say and one of our group needed to stop off at the Tesco Express to take food on board as he was still very hungry. We all wished that we had opted for the pub further along the quay and eaten there for half the cost and twice the satisfaction.

Went here on Friday for a wake and they had closed the pub for this occasion ... The staff were just lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The food was absolutely gorgeous and well presented. The occasion was a sad affair as we had lost someone who meant the world to us but honestly I couldn't think of a nicer place and setting to end the day. Truly amazing!!

I always do click and collect here in the mornings when I’m working in Maldon, usually 2 or 3 days a week. The ladies are always so friendly (even though I sometimes have a big order from all my colleagues!) and nothing is too much trouble.

We recently celebrated our wedding at The Bull, Troston and what an unforgettable experience it was! From the moment we arrived, we were met with impeccable service that made us feel truly special. The evening meal was beyond amazing—every dish was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavour, and beautifully presented. The attention to detail and the warmth of the staff made the dining experience even more delightful. Our stay at the Pear Tree Inn was equally impressive. The rooms were not only beautifully decorated but also provided the perfect blend of comfort and charm. It was the ideal setting to relax and enjoy the weekend, and equally fabulous breakfasts. Overall, our time at The Bull and the Pear Tree Inn was nothing short of fabulous. It was a weekend full of wonderful memories that we will cherish forever. We can’t thank the team enough for making our special day so perfect. Highly recommend to anyone looking for exceptional food, outstanding service, and a cozy, elegant stay.

Stoped on Saturday after around 2.30 hardly anybody eating Ordered two teas panini and sandwich . Notice says “good for is worth waiting for “ . Yes we waited went in to ask for the teas which eventually came Eventually the food and it was dreadful. The coleslaw looked runny and not to good at all . The BLT on white was truly awful pale fatty bacon the cheapest of bread and lettuce just inedible I went inside with the plates and told the girl who was indifferent and surprised Toilets awful no paper which I also said when I left Really poor experience
