Absolutely terrible service. Don't bother trying to order food as no one will take your order. They have a preference for lorry drivers, so if you're not wearing a high vis expect them to completely ignore you. Also, expect a menu from the 1990's.

What an absolute dump these services are, they must be the worst in the whole of the U.K. Here again in a Saturday & yes the main services are closed, even though it’s busy with vehicles pulling in. So we are reduced to queuing for the one toilet in the petrol station service station. Absolutely appalling services these, I do not recommend this place at all, but there’s nowhere else to stop on the A90 the main Aberdeen-Dundee trunk road.

This place is great! Yes, it’s old fashioned (if that bothers you somehow) but the food & value on offer here is the best!. For truck drivers, £30 to park with a £20(!) food voucher is unthinkable anywhere else in the UK. Wide variety of grub to choose from and plenty of tables. Give this a shot if you’re travelling past and especially for overnight parking. Really at a complete loss to understand bad reviews 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not open for eating-in. I was on a motorbike and looking for somewhere to warm up. So I had to gang faurther.

Strathcathro Service area on M90 is possibly the worst service area in the British Isles. I have stopped here on numerous occasions whilst driving a lorry and over the last few years with the family on leisure trips. This is only because it is conveniently located, no other reason whatsoever. The main service area is only open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm which is absurd for a services on a main trunk road/route. The actual services don’t look like they have been painted since the mid 1970s I kid you not. The only part of the services that are open at the weekend is the petrol station, this has only one toilet within a very messy store, with stock everywhere and most of that appears to be cheap rubbish and tat! So with the one toilet, there is always a long queue, as people have no option but to wait in this horrible little shop, because the horrible toilets in the run down and badly maintained services are closed. If you do stop here be prepared to experience the worst service area in Britain. I know as I drive articulated lorries for a living, so have visited quite a few. Best really avoid this service area if you can, although on the M90 there’s not much choice of alternatives to stop at!

Home made food ! Real tatties and mince ! Just like my mum used to make! 10/10 👌 A very welcome stop off on a long journey. Take out , which was good for me. Mainly truckers stopped, service was fas and faultless

Fresh off the Northlink ferry from Lerwick we were in search of a hearty breakfast and we certainly weren't disappointed. The cheerful waitress served us bacon rolls, sausage link rolls, tea and a tattie scone. Delicious, hearty fare and not a corporate logo in sight. We'll be back!

This place is fantastic. Nothing like it. The shop sells unbelievable tat. Unicorns, scary dolls etc. There was a near full size plastic horse last time I was there. Coffee surprisingly good. Really good house plant selection for some reason. Just have a sausage butty and revel in the tat. Bogs are interesting! If you’re in the area The Horn is another must see about 7 miles south of Dundee.

Best maccaroni in scotland by far, lovely and helpful staff and lots of interesting gifts, toys and ornaments from the shop. Definitely recommend, toilets may not be the most modern or clean, but the food and staff certainly make it a must stop!

Follow this place on Facebook and was very pleasantly surprised when I went to check it out. The food was delicious and the chance to shop for unique gifts was a joy. The staff are very friendly and the store was very clean. I will be back!!!

Quick and easy roadside stop. Cup of tea and fry up and back on the road 10 minutes flat! Would stop if you are not one for the fancy things in life. It's a roadside truckstop what do you expect?

If you are heading out of Aberdeen, this is a great place to stop. It is as weird as a 3 headed cat! It is a 1950's truckstop/teamroom/tourist shop. The food is not going to win any michelin stars but it is strangely compelling, it is a greasy spoon but it is chap and cheerful. The food I have had here has always been hot and reasonably tasty, as I said it is a greasy spoon and I don't think that there is a gaelic word for salad! I always stop here on the way out of Aberdeen. As the sign says "ye may gang faur and fare waur".

After stopping for a coffee, I was hit with a smell of fatty food. After finishing my coffee, as quickly as I could, I left knowing that my clothes would be stinking. The smell was with me for the rest of the day. The toilets are terrible too. I wont be back and I certainly wouldn’t recommend a stop here if your meeting people afterwards... they’ll think you’ve not washed your clothes for a week. Sorry for the bad review but get the place cleaned and a new extractor system fitted

Very disappointed with the food in this place. Way overpriced for a greasy spoon and with a television blaring away in the dining room, nor conducive to peaceful dining. Toilets shocking-so much so I could not use them. Heard this place is closing soon, not before time!

Plenty free parking, good choices for food and drink. Service pretty good. Not expensive and clean. Even easy access if you have a caravan

The problem with this place is it's probably mis-marketing itself. It's not a restaurant, it's a transport cafe, and none the worse for that. The food is great, good filling fare and using actual vegetables which is more than can be said of many a shiney motorway services. I dropped in on wednesday and had steak n kidney in gravey with neeps and cabbage ( cooked properly ) and whole tatties. It was braw! I wasn't even remotely hungry afterwards as the portion sizes are very generous, but how's a man to resist strawberry crumble and custard. Really good, fresh whole strawberries and perfect crumble. One of my favourite roadside eateries. As for the service, it's alive and funny people behind the counter, not sad repressed drones...I look forward to the banter.

On our way to work and stopped in for food the breakfast was really guid and decent priced aswell. The owner saw us waiting outside in the rain and even opened earlier to let us in. X

A good refuelling spot but don't expect anything too sophisticated, apparently the Stovies are excellent but I couldn't face them!

Stopped for coffee and a snack as it was right next to the road. Worn out and tatty. Smelly toilets. Self service and whilst coffee was drinkable, sausage breakfast roll was disgusting. Cheap and you get what you pay for. We will not be stopping here again.

One of my favourite places to stop over the years. The food is consistently good and usually good value. Ordering breakfast I was charged an extra 75p for a small plastic pot. So. Breakfast and other meals good value Avoid the marmalade!!

Stopped in this forenoon, seating area was empty, stood at counter for five minutes, no one keeping an eye on the place so left and went elsewhere, won't be back.

La sección café está conectado a la estación de gasolina, que tiene una enorme, interesante selección de artículos para la sección más bien inesperado la venta. Soy local y siempre vamos por la nariz por allí como parte de mi visita a la sección de café.

Went to use facilities. Toilets very basic. Shop has oddest mixture of items. Did not try food. Staff seemed pleasant. Open until 8 pm. Has garage beside it. But just a bit weird.

Si usted está buscando un moderno establecimiento servicios tipo autopista, este no es para ti. Si estás buscando comida a un precio razonable en un ambiente café transporte luego parada aquí, todos los conductores de camiones no pueden estar equivocados. No hay muchas paradas en este camino y creo que sería un goldmine si pasamos algo de dinero, pero supongo que son contenido para seguir siendo un truckstop.

Bien es viejo y deteriorado pero es original y con mucho carácter y la comida es casera a partir de usted. Yo preferiría a la mayoría de las ofertas de british estación de servicio que son nefastas y mucho, mucho más caro. Mantenerlo e intentar utilizar productos locales si puedes que es lo que es.

We have stopped here a few times over many years, most recently this week. Food was good and staff friendly. Will be back again when next passing.

Not much good to say.Cold, clearly no money spent on heating. Disgusting coffee.Grubby table and hygiene of server questionable at best. Coughing and sniffling, wiping nose and then getting bread and rolls. Delicious NOT. When we saw that we just had coffee which was disgusting.Do yourselves a favour and keep going. Starvation is preferable!!!

Vamos por un buen desayuno cafetería transporte, y nunca falla. Mi marido normalmente recibe el Haggis el desayuno, que es muy abundante y muy buena relación calidad-precio. Yo soy vegetariana y siempre tengo tomates tostadas - nos sigue todo el día! Es un buen lugar...

Nos quedaremos aquí en Strathcathro es una visita al pasado oscuro de las estaciones de servicio. Conductores de camiones que buscan abundantes comidas fritas puede ser cómodo. Los caballeros era por debajo de un nivel aceptable, desagradable y lejos de aromáticos.

There are not many options for a beak on this trunk road, this one has character and is accessible from both north and south lanes. It is not the place for a romantic celebration but it is fine, the food is good and plentiful and the staff were very helpful and cheery.

Had a fantastic lunch here,big helping, s ,couldn't finish my stewed steak,felt guilty because it was so good,also very friendly staff, just 5 miles from Brechin on the deul carriage way,never thought to visit there but I will certainly be back

This place is terrible, I'd advise you to keep on the motorway until you get to the next stop! The staff don't have a clue and the food is awful. It hasnt been done up since the 60's. They can't even make a toastie. The shop is full of rubbish it's like a charity shop.

We have been stopping at Gang Far every time we go up north on holiday. I could not fault it in any way, I love the traditional north east menu and they give you a decent sized home cooked meal, not a tiddly amount.Great place to stop.

I stopped here on the way North on A90 in August 2014.The smell of stale oil wafting from the kitchen should have been a clue to how bad this place was.My friend ordered macaroni and chips to which the serving woman laughed and said "none left" He then asked for something else to which the reply was the same but this time the girl laughed. We both then asked for fish, chips and peas. After a long wait a tattooed lady brought the plates through, one with beans and one with peas! I said this to the lady who just shrugged her shoulders, said " she took yer order" and pointed at another woman.The fish was in a perfect fish shape but made up out of pieces of fish and was very hot. The chips on the other hand were only warm.On the way out I asked a van driver where the toilets were and he replied "over their, have you been before? you're in for a treat.On entering the toilets the smell of urine was overpowering, the paint was coming off the walls and the pipework was stained and dirty. I can honestly say they are the filthiest toilets that I have ever used in the UK or abroad.The whole experience was quite unpleasant and certainly not to be repeated.
