Costa Coffee in Angus

Updated: 03/03/24 - Nice while it lasted. WiFi’s been out for a week now. Updated: 12/23 - They have WiFi again! 🥳 The staff are always great and their flat whites are always well made. I used to come here often to do some work, but it seems after a number of issues with their internet connection they’ve just given up and gotten rid of the wifi altogether. (Just been told it was cancelled). As the data signal is poor in this Costa the only real alternative in Forfar is Starbucks.

Tired looking place, in need of decoration and update. Staff are lazy and disinterested. Tables needed clearing and the floor had old napkins on it that the staff didn't pick up. Two big cups of tea for £5.20 should pay for better staff.

Only had 2 staff members. Unclean tables. Way too long to be served and extortionate prices

One of the best cafeteria in Dundee Expensive & delicious 😋 food

Place OK but the coffee wasn't! It tasted nothing like fresh coffee. Very little evidence of the M&S food which was supposedly on sale

Enjoyed the quietness of the place and the atmosphere. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the place is always clean and welcoming. The staff are really good to chat with as well, they are very busy with getting the orders out but they speak to you all the while. I love the way they are friendly and welcoming and also the place is clean and friendly, and tidy.

Service a bit slow due to lack of staff

Best coffee around. Have always had a horrid experience with Starbucks. Always love the seasonal drinks (maple Hazel 🍁 has been best to date)

Very slow service. Making one single coffee at a time isn't the best way. Should be more efficient and multi tasking like all coffee shops do.

Have been going to this costa regularly since it has opened but lately it has become more disappointing, the only thing that keeps us going back is .My husband loves a costa coffee. Unfortunately even that is disappointing as the dishwasher has been broken for at least three months. (All food and drink is in takeaway containers)This is only one of the faults as there was no hot food available today some days toilets aren't working and the card machine frequently is out of order. This costa is a very poor relation to all others in the area and with some time and effort it could be a flagship branch. Most of the staff are polite and welcoming however the cleanliness of the place could also do with being improved as empty tables are often dirty.Please please can the repairs be made and the staff better supported to provide a standard of service which is available in your other places.

Pleasant space. I appreciated being able to sit and use my laptop for a couple of hours. However, couldn't get internet access with the free wifi. Most heinous was ordering a latte and getting a cappuccino. That's super disappointing.

Nice staff, only gripe, no coconut milk which I know is a Costa problem at the moment so semi skimmed it is until further notice.

Great atmosphere and space at this Costa. Almost TARDIS like when you venture through to the rear seating area. All the usual fare.

Never got my free coffee today technology down had to pay for my coffee then girl making it put it in a paper cup they use for carry outs I informed her I was sitting in .the look she gave me could have turned me into stone.god she wasn't happy.wont be back.sorry but no way this is acceptable.

Costa us my kind of coffee- particularly flat white.

First time I have been in here, in fact it's the first time I have been into a Costa for over 2 years since I moved up here. Always get a great hot chocolate. This one was the after eight mint flavour, it is very tasty. The cafe was clean, warm and inviting, and very quiet. The usual test and trace was in place. Well worth a visit.

Wife had to go twice with hot chocolate as not hot enough eventually drank the third still not hot

I didnt realised you had to stand at a certain marking on the floor for social distance the staff member rudely told me to get back behind the marking . Then she countined to talk to the other staff member like I wasn't there .

Staff so rude here, not a hello or ‘I’ll be with you in a minute’ nothing! 2 staff members and me and one other customer in the shop, the other customer was served as I waited. I ordered 2 take away coffees and before I even finished ordering the drinks the man serving me started, never asked what size or if I wanted cream on top etc. Not a thank you or goodbye when I had my drinks. Won’t be back. No wonder the shop was dead despite the 50p drink deal that was on today.

In costa everyday and cannot fault. Staff are all great and the main thing- can all make a great coffee!!

Came into Costa Forfar with a friend. On arrival there seemed to be a slower service than usual which was understandable due to the queue. Once seated we had noticed a lady had came in and sat in the sofa opposite us where she was waiting for someone arriving to meet her. One of your staff with long brown hair, came up and spoke (loudly enough for everyone to here her) and said to the lady “can you move over to the other table so we can let other people in” in a rude manner. The lady did move, informing the staff member that she was waiting on someone coming. The staff member could have kindly went up to the lady to ask her politely if she wouldn’t mind moving to another table as I’m sure the woman would have moved no problem. Not even a thank you to the lady for moving to a different table. This has played in my mind all day as if that had been me in the situation I would have felt embarrassed and humiliated. Maybe this staff member needs some extra training on customer service as the other staff members seemed well trained. Coffee was lovely.

Was in today to catch up with a friend, Never felt so uncomfortable in a place and I was paying to be there..😡 The girl who served me needs to be taught some manners and customer service skills. Her manner was awful, I know we are dealing with covid at the minute, but there is a nice way to ask for details and I don't think I need to give a reason why I'm meeting someone. When maken our coffes she gave up and told the other girl to do it while rolling her eyes. Not the reaction you expect from someone serving you. Coffee wasn't the warmest, certainly won't be rushing back or recommending this Costa. Think some training in basic manners is need Costa for your staff.

Fortunately the coffee was warmer than the staff and the interior warmer than the wet Scottish weather. The coffee was typical Costa and no issues. The toilets , if you can access by the narrow toilet door had loo paper all over the floor and could have done with being tidied up. Overall Ok for a quick coffee but could be better.

I was in the Forfar coffee shop last week very clean and tidy, the staff were excellent. I left an expensive scarf and was in a panic I would never see it again as I live in Glasgow, It was found and it was send next day delivery to me. Thank so much. .

Nice coffee and cakes. Smells of sour milk as you enter which is off putting. Tables a bit sticky and needing properly cleaned.

Coffee is delicious, cakes and pastries very expensive but otherwise great friendly staff, first choice for coffee.

A recent trip to catch up with a pal showed just how tasty the coffee is! I usually have a chai latté here because some places don't know how to make it tasty.

Perfect little bolt hole to relax and forget the world.

Usual type of establishment, bit like Macdonald's, one is not a lot different than the other, you either like it or you don't.

The coffee shop in Forfar is clean. Negative point regarding safety. There is a step up to enter toilet. No (MIND THE STEP) sign. My wife had a fall today.

Not the cleanest. And defo not allergy friendly. I pair of tongs to lift all the fresh cakes. And different milk going thru same machine.

It's OK. It's not the coffee that's the problem. If you order a cappuccino you get half a cup of coffee. I don't expect it to be filled to the top but even after the froth is added it is well below the top. The fact that costa is expensive I expect a decent sized coffee. The cakes and food selections are good. Cater for gluten free and vegans. Would be good to see Batista oat milk though. Soy milk is not good and some people can't have coconut milk.

Consistently good quality nice tasting coffee and tasty snacks. Moderately priced. A large comfortable seating area through the back. Can be very busy.

Visit Costa regularly, often with a friend & our two children. It’s central & has the large comfy sofas which is about the only thing it has going for it. The staff here are absolutely terrible extremely miserable & rude. Not only are they lacking in the customer service department they have no fundamental manners, warmth or even a smile something you’d expect from someone working with the general public. Bringing the children in also seems to be an issue & frowned upon from staff, asking for anything seems to be an inconvenience eg cream & sauce on a latte. Their attitude is stinking & very off putting.

The only coffee stop in Forfar to get a halfway decent cappuccino to order

Customer service is really good and the baristas are friendly and polite. I have been here many times and enjoy going there. Also the opening hours are excellent compared to other cafés in the area. The class of drinks offered is great and I really recommend visiting 🙂

Standard Costa fare, you could be in any Costa cafe in the country, you know what you’re getting, same style, same menu, same taste.Not to say this is a bad thing, as you do always know you’re going to get a semi-decent latte but it would be nice if there was a wee bit of variation, other than, ‘sorry we haven’t got skimmed milk today’ that is.Food and drink is as expected, cafe is clean and warm, though rarely full of customers. Staff are friendly enough, could be more efficient but they may be new at the job so one can’t criticise. XSeverely overpriced for what you get, as is every Costa though, so don’t pop in for a cheap cuppie. I’m afraid, unless I was having a meeting, which I have done here in the past, I’d rather spend my money in one of the little local cafes than give money to a huge company.

Lovely latte and also decaf latte which my husband thoroughly enjoyed.

We visit costa Forfar regularly, that is going to stop. Staff lazy, tables left dirty whilst staff chit chat. Always get near a half cup of froth and constantly take it back for a top up. The manager in my opinion is very poor, never smiles, barely talks and a face like thunder constantly. Shame cause this Costa used to be good.

Yet again this place has let us down.No bonfire spiced drinks! This was the whole point of our seasonal visit.Who was in charge of the ordering that they let stock get to the point there is none and then just laugh when we said we were disappointed that we would just have to have normal drinks.Wondered why it is getting quieter and quieter in here but perhaps this is a clue and see us losing our Costa if things don't improve after reading other reviews I have to agree with a lot of the negative feedback and don't see Costa trying to rectify things.

Actually really expensive to stop here. We only had a drinking as a drinking and cake would have been about 20 pounds for 4 people.

Popped in for a sit down cuppa. Met by 2 lady servers at the counter. (both rather sullen) A wee smile goes a long way. Coffee had a good enough taste though. It's fine if you want a drink and to take the weight off your feet

Hmmm. I usually have an Americano, but was parched so decided on a british pot of tea for one. Not too difficult. So I was given the teapot, but without a lid. No explanation, that’s it. Must have been the one and only teapot in the cafe.

Nothing spectular just a typical Costa coffee cafe. Coffee fine, premises clean, service ok. What more can you say about a Costa shop.

Called in for coffee and cake whilst in Forfar. Never been in a Costa before and thought it looked modern, bright and spacious. Quite a few customers spread out through the front and back but sadly a lot of un-cleared tables - not a good impression! Ordered 2 cappuccinos and 2 cakes - just under £10 - Sicilian lemon muffin very tasty but coffee lukewarm yet cup was warm - (possibly out of dishwasher!). Service was not with a smile! Would agree with a previous review that it needs someone with managerial experience to run the coffee shop efficiently and to focus on keeping it clean and tidy. On finishing coffee found paper(?) in bottom of cup - hoping this was possibly part of a filter. (Should have brought this to staff's attention but we were in a hurry). Would not hurry back.

I'm a huge coffee fan and love Costa but the Forfar branch is a disgrace. Tables are filthy we had a coffee there last weekend and the table was so dirty we used a wet wipe and it was black. The floor is covered in food and crumbs and dirty plates and cups piled up on tables. The place needs a shake up and someone to mange the place and give it a thorough deep clean it's a disgrace and I've been in many different costas. Service is slow too.

Who doesn’t like a costa coffee nice and cosy cafe and friendly staff we didn’t eat but the food looked appetising.

Went in for a bacon butty and a coffee early in the morning. The place was clean and light and airy, the staff very pleasant, and the coffee huge.

Been on many Costas over the years but like this one because it has more comfoetable seating and the staff are friendly and pleasant. Food and coffee is as you get in any Costa but none the worse for that

We were pleasantly surprised to find a Costa Coffee in the small Angus town of Forfar and even more surprised to find it open at 3.15pm on a Sunday afternoon, 23 July 2017.

Over the last couple of months I have noticed a huge difference in Costa in Forfar. The overall running of the coffee shop is a lot better. I visit often and do still find the service slow at times but it has greatly improved since Christmas. I would like to still recommend maybe staff from city center branch visiting this costa "to show them how it's done" as I find all other branches of costa that I visit far more efficient.

Popped in for breakfast, usually only go to Costa in Overgate Dundee in afternoon but was in Forfar for an errand & thought I'd give it a go. The staff were pleasant & the tables etc were clean. My coffee was lovely as was my breakfast toastie. I will definitely come back.
