Yardbird Belfast in Belfast

Ok so it’s not typical Irish food but it’s great for a pint of Guinness. It’s the only place I’ve ever been when they tap the pint on the bar when it’s two thirds full. I really liked the ambiance of the bar and busy ( for a Monday evening ) restaurant called Yarbird. The menu is predominantly chicken and pork. No sirloin, rib eyes or burgers are cooked here. Loaded fries, wings, ribs, dips and either half or quarter portions of freshly roasted chicken. The open kitchen is busy with cooks and servers go back and forth there and greet the guests. Star of the show is the delightful Jasmine. She meanders effortlessly through the restaurant, does meet & greet, controls the booking system and brings your meals to the table. She’s one of the hardest working staff members I’ve ever seen. An absolute credit to the restaurant. I ordered the ribs and wings combo with a side. They were brought to me ten minutes later with a fresh pint of Guinness. The sweet potato fries were fine as were the ribs. However the wings were below par. Elephant & Castle in Dublin served the best wings I’ve ever tasted. These were nowhere near as good. Desert was a brownie with three toppings. This also was average. Great place to eat though, live music downstairs when I left.

What an amazing place, a must visit when in Belfast. Entertainment is always great and the atmosphere is amazing.

The best place i have ever been to for music and atmosphere. Hit every bit of my music likes. Brilliant place with a great vibe . I'm here on a visit but will highly recommend for anyone visiting.

Good food. Had the veggie burger and chicken, both were tasty. The chips were unreal and the chicken was seasoned amazingly. £14 or so for burger and chickens and cool events randomly on too. Server was nice and music was good, you can see them cooking your food too.

Flight delayed so came in here with 6 friends from a team. Nice patio, inside seating. Grabbed some drinks, sat near fireplace. One weird thing I still don’t understand. Some left to grab our luggage, and we came back to order more drinks and we were refused. Apparently refused because of us wearing our team apparel outfits tops and bottoms. Same bartender said this to me after taking my order 20 minutes earlier, and while half of others still sitting at fireplace drinking their original drink. Maybe 3 other people in there, it was empty. Didn’t make much sense to us so we left. A little backwards I’d say?

Stunning food and huge portions

The wait staff were exceptional, but they were hampered by mediocre food and a dull atmosphere.

Last month I came here randomly and got the salted chilli mayo fries. I couldnt stop thinking about it so went again today. Delicious again. Will keep going. Yum.

Visited as part of a hen do however bride was told to take vail off by bouncer inside as not allowed? Apparently company policy? We had already been allowed into the venue with the bail and spent £90 on 1 drink for 5 and shots.

Nice pint of Gunness by the fire on a cold evening with a few friends. Good times.

Mandatory stop in Belfast, atmosphere, music to spend a 10 minute

Used too come here all the time but in the last few visit's in the last month or so it’s been pretty poor , seems there’s been a change of management which is disappointing because the staff were always very friendly and professional … who ever has taken over is clearly not up to the standard and is also clearly not a leader .

We had lunch. Recommending the loaded fries and the avocado salad. Half chicken and chicken burger were good.

Nice pub in a very busy area. With we went for lunch and it was quite full but quiet. In the evening it is very crowded and inaccessible. Quality food well prepared and with few sauces, served separately. The chicken and pork ribs were outstanding. Good IPA beer on tap. Average prices

Great vibe on a Friday night. Fantastic beers. I drive from the south to have a few pints and explore Belfast. This place served nice lagers like heverlee and clonmel which were crispy and fantastic.

Was really shocked to hear and witness the language/behaviour of the female bouncer last night. (26th of September 2024). Had taken my grandmother for a lovely meal at 44 Hill Street and unfortunately had to walk past the bar. Very upsetting for 80 year old grand mother hear that sort of language. Will certainly never drink here in the future. Appalling.

First stop in Belfast was along Hill Street at this fine drinking establishment. Sure, there's food upstairs but after driving from Bushmills and parking the rental car, it was time for a frosty adult beverage. The Dirty Onion was a great little stop. A little dark, a little grungy, a lot friendly. And it got friendlier as a food tour with 20+ tourists all poured in after I'd gotten my beer and found a comfy seat. Yes, I'm also a tourist but it was fun to watch this group of more obvious tourists getting their drinks. Cold beer (I opted not to have a Guinness) in the afternoon. It gets busy and perhaps a bit rowdier (not in a bad way!) in the evenings as I walked past here a few times later during my time in Belfast. A great little bar, I'm glad I stopped in!

Characteristic Belfast pub, restaurant upstairs, very busy and noisy but representing the atmosphere of the city. Great Ribbs and chicken, along with a Guinness beer. To repeat for sure.

I love this place, they always have live music, great mix of locals and tourists. No idea what the food is like but the beer is good and musicians always very good.

Came in without a reservation even when it was fully booked out. They gave us a buzzer and told us to grab few pints downstairs while they try to get us a table. After 30ish we got a table. Food is definitely worth the wait and the staff were very polite and friendly. The price is average for the city. We got the Ribs and Wings + Side combo deal, Loaded fries with the gravy and chicken. Over all it was enough for two people to be feeling stuffed afterwards. Highly recommend marking this spot for places to eat!

Great selection of drinks, music from across the decades and all genres, open until late. I went twice in one week just planning on for a few drinks.....7.5 hours and alot of singing / dancing later. My new favourite spec

We were a group of 5 Spaniards and if we return to Belfast we will repeat, it was our favorite pub, the dinner was delicious! For 12 pounds we had a very very good dinner, especially in terms of quantity and quality. The distribution of tables to drink beers is very good, and the atmosphere with excellent music. We were so excited when they played the Jack and Rose song from Titanic in third class! Maximum moment!

Fantastic atmosphere in this busy pub situated in the heart of Belfast's Cathedral Quarter. Live music was brilliant and the whole place had a really chilled vibe about it. Would definitely visit again!

Awesome pub with live music in the Cathedral Quarter, the liveliest and most colorful in Belfast. Excellent chicken and fried menu with a superlative coleslaw and white cabbage salad accompanying the dishes. Fast and very friendly service. Booking directly the same evening, with a little waiting time (August). Top Irish beers. Definitely an experience worth having.

Very surprised at this venue, been there many times but when the entertainment is singing “ooh aah up the ra”! Very disheartening from a place you can usually depend on for a good night out.

Tasty Chicken (we chose the Buffalo glaze wings) in the 'oldest building in Belfast.

Even if it is as usual saturated with people, it is one of the best representatives of a Belfast Pub. The musicians, the girls who tend the bar, everything in tune. A piece of advice, if when you enter, the first bar is full, continue towards the back, there is another bar that is always much quieter.

Its above a busy pub so I imagine it can get busy very quickly when folk get peckish. Got a table from a walk in. Ordered the wings and ribs combo. Food was really good. Ribs were huge!.....even without the wings it was a challenge to try and finish. One of my sons ordered the large sticky BBQ wings....I wont post the photo but if you saw his face at the end it would be clear that he enjoyed them.

Fantastic the bat goddess poured me an excellent whiskey & coke, the food at yardbird is delicious (ranch was no bueno for Americans) just go with the awesome sauce

I can only speak from the perspective of someone visiting from the US, whose experience with fried and rotisserie chicken is limited to various restaurants and Costco. The service is stupendous and the pub downstairs is great. The buffalo chicken sandwich was pretty good, but lacking a bit more buffalo sauce. The most disappointing part, however, was the rotisserie chicken. The whole reason you cook a chicken that way is to keep the meat moist. However, my half chicken was overcooked and dry. A five dollar (USD) chicken from Costco exceeds the quality here.

Absolutely fantastic chicken and ribs, total surprise to find in Ireland but any BBQ lover should try! All of the food was great but those were favorites for us. The beer garden and downstairs bar are nice places to hangout as well.

Great looking venue with a unique vibe. Had the ribs and wings combo. Ribs were fantastic with fall off the bone meat. I wasn't keen on the sauce on the ribs though, and the waitress kindly discounted the meal for me. Staff were friendly and very attentive too.

Only visited this place once but seemed to be a great place .It was really buzzing and had live music,but there is various rooms if you prefer a wee bit quieter.Didn't eat here so can't comment.

Be careful when you’re paying. Gave a guy behind the bar a £20 note and he was insistent that I only gave him a £10. It wasn’t a busy night, didn’t want to get management or anything involved but really disappointed in the service. Didn’t even give me time for a conversation and instead said said I gave him a £10 and called me darling.

Really good rotisserie chicken, my wife’s chicken sandwich was awesome and the slaw was incredible, great outside bar to work up an appetite before you head up for the food
