Terrible experience. Never again.

Had a great night out in belfast, until the doorman decided that because he had refused entry to a drunk fella with glasses and a bald head, that they would try to find any guy with a bald head and glasses, who was minding his own business, enjoying a drink with friends, and physically manhandle and assault anyone matching that description (ie me) and eject them with force from the premises, just because they looked a little bit like someone they refused entry to. Management....check your CCTV from tonight between 1-2am. Your doormen behaved appallingly. Removing a paying customer who just happened to look like someone else. Avoid this place, unless you like being assaulted by doormen for looking like someone else. Unless an apology is forthcoming, expect this to be taken further.

I’m normally a big fan of wings, but these where Luke warm and vary small. I left most of them. The ribs however saved the review. I’m not normally a big fan of ribs but these were quality. Chips/fries were disappointing, served mainly bits rather than full fries. The dining area is very low lit in parts. A little too dark. Drinks selection in yardbird isn’t the best no mainstream brands. Irish coffee on menu but not cream for it ? Didn’t offer an alternative I had to ask. Venue was clean and tidy. Would I recommend or go back… No The bar side of things downstairs was booming with a great atmosphere and live music.

If you were to ask me how I feel about the dirty onion I’d say yeah it’s fun….but if u were to ask me on a deeper level I’d say yeah it’s changed my life, it’s made me the person I am today and there is absolutely no other place on this planet I’d rather be.

Was with a party of 10 on a stag do. Standard busy club, but unfortunately the bouncers seemed to have something against hats and so they chucked each of us out when we put on stag do themed hats. Atmosphere as a result unwelcoming

Overhaul great food. My Quarter Chicken was a tad dry. But the Buffalo Wings were very very good, the ribs my wife had were excellent and tender with the meat falling from the bone. The sweet potato fries were very crispy and as a nice surprise, no extra than normal ones. They have a great offer for 2 beers and a full chicken with sides for £37 as well. Highly recommended as someone from Greater Manchester.

Went over St Patricks Day. Was a good laugh and great music

The guy outside told me we would be waiting 30 minutes total lie we were seated immediately!! The food was amazing the chicken slid right off the bone. Chris was a very personable waiter teaching us about the different accents in Ireland that was really interesting! The food only took a half hour to come out!!!

Staff lovely. Decorated so nice like a Texas style cowboy theme. Food average… chips came over cooked. Ribs flavourless. Got the spice box wings and they were average. Not sure I’ll be back.

we arrived in belfast for st patricks day and visited the dirty onion, it was a good day however there was a few occasions we seen people been escorted out for no reason. The following day it was our turn we went back we had food and drinks waiting for the live music however they didnt turn up and the next gig wasnt on until 6pm so we round another couple of bars before returning, we bought a drink sat down and were just enjoing the music and time with friends not bothering anyone or being and problem but we were asked leave the reason being 1 of our friends was too drink, the funny part was the 1 they were reffering to was drinking redbull, the way we were treated was disgraceful we asked on what basis they were asking us to go they couldnt back up their reasons, it was unfair and disgusting. if you want to have a good time and enjoy yourself AVOID this place

I would give it zero stars if I could absolute disgraceful how me and my friends were treated we caused no trouble and was asked to leave avoid this place like the plague

Despite numerous empty tables, we were told there were no tables for two and placed on a one-hour waitlist. After thirty minutes, we were seated at a four-person table, which was frustratingly illogical. That said, the food was quite good!

If I could leave -10 stars I would how I was treated was disgracefully, avoid like the paid spenta small fortune caused no trouble and asked to leave for no reason other than the manager stating I had to go and I wasn’t even drinking alcohol I was drinking red bull management is a shambles

Went on St Paddy’s day. Had great music playing till gone midnight didn’t have to queue long for drinks either.

Clear recommendation! Great Atmosphere, live music, good drinks, nice people. You can have something to eat and then you go downstairs have a drink and enjoy music and even dance to it. Casual outfit is ok also there are as well some party people who are dressed! Go here to have a great evening and night in a fresh industrial flair and even partly under the sky of Belfast. A place to be ….

Great chicken, dog friendly and welcoming staff- definitely recommend. All of us tried different things : both types of wings , spice bag (to die for ), rotisserie chicken and salad - everything was delicious ! Downstairs has a working fireplace that only added to ambience! It is my second time and will definitely be back!

Went there last night. Service and atmosphere were great, and staff were friendly welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed the wings and ribs combo. Would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful authentic building. Lovely friendly guy greeted us, sadly a not so friendly waitress served us. Food Very greasy. Don't order the vegan bap. Shame as the building is lovely.

A good place to have a drink or eat. At the weekend there are a lot of people and the atmosphere is incredible.

On a weekday evening we sat by the fire with a Guinness, enjoying the live musician who performed in the adjacent room. Pub with lots of history and character, nice atmosphere. During the weekend the people hung out with their legs hanging out.

This was a highly recommended place to eat and drink in Belfast and it certainly didn't disappoint! I started downstairs with a pint of lager and moved upstairs for a meal after a walk around the city. I sat on the bar overlooking the kitchen and had the half rotisserie of chicken and some sweet potato fries. The meal was delicious, the chicken was gorgeous and the fries were crispy, and the portion size more than generous! The food itself cost me less than £20 as well which is fantastic value. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon and the staff were friendly and attentive. I finished my meal and headed back downstairs for a pint of craft beer from the great selection available. It wasn't the best weather but would also highly recommend the courtyard at the front if the weather permits. One of Belfast's gems!

May aswell call them fall off the bone ribs! Very good food. Really warm in the pub with a real fire, relaxed atmosphere inside, live music in the beer garden.

A Hidden Gem! My husband and I visited on a Tuesday evening ahead of a concert at the arena. Service & Ordering: The initial service and ordering experience were super quick. We were seated almost instantly, had drinks on the table within minutes, and opted for the Tuesday Beer 'n' Bird deal—which included two pints, a whole chicken, and two sides to share for £39.95 (from memory). We thought this was a great deal! Food & Portions: The food arrived promptly, and the portion sizes were generous. Everything was tasty, hot, and well-cooked, with a great selection of sauces that really complemented the meal. Service Shift Change: The only slight drawback was experiencing a "change of the guard"—the gentleman who originally served us handed over to a young lady. After this, we noticed a considerable decline in service speed, needing to wave down the waitress several times. In the end, we simply went up to the bar to pay as we needed to be somewhere promptly. This wasn't a huge issue, but if you're on a tight schedule, it’s worth keeping in mind that you might need to be proactive. Final Thoughts: We’re not local, so we don’t know when we’ll be back—but we’d highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting the area!

Great food. Great drinks. Staff that served us seemed quite rude and put out that we dared ask for some glasses of water alongside our alcoholic drinks. Chicken wings and loaded fries were fantastic! As was the live music.

Food was great. Lovely cosy atmosphere. Little cold by the doorway, but we asked to move and it wasn't a problem. Was cosier further in. Not too many choices for veggie/vegan but the food tasted amazing and service was efficient. The blond waiter/host was very helpful and efficient (sorry didn't catch a name). Great meal out!

Their Spice Bag Loaded Fries (with Rotisserie chicken and special sauce) was mind blowing. It is a must try. The ambience was nice and the place was big , something for everyone. There was live music too.

Quite an unpleasant experience. During the visit to Belfast, following the recommendation of friends we went to The Dirty Onion for a dinner and few drinks. After staff assurance of serving the food and half an hour of queueing, the front doorman welcomed us inside. We walked through the all nice looking and warm outdoor beer garden, back door and we ended up at some different bar (some new, probably the same owners, but not so crowded and unknown for us). The place was completely open, windy and cold. We got a food menu but there was different from what we came for. We would prefer to wait a bit longer if needed, to get the food we wanted (roast chicken), instead of sending us to the other bar. One star for that nice looking beer garden we walked through. We didn't taste anything so nothing to comment on.

The food was decent, although chicken breast was slightly dry. The avocado salad was just a waste, added no value to the meal and looked quite sad on the plate, something more seasonal would have suited much nicer. The service in the beginning was fine, although trying to get the bill and pay for it was like pulling teeth. We eventually had to walk to the counter to pay and received no acknowledgment of our wait at all. Not worth the visit!

Arrived for dinner last night with a group of friends. Booking was done by someone else. We arrived at the entrance to be greeted by a bouncer who seemed to struggle with communication. “Email”… “I’ve a booking for 5 people at 8…” “Email”. Once we realised this guy lacked any intelligence, his colleague eventually let us into the restaurant. What is shocking here is that you literally have 3-4 bouncers to get into a restaurant. Use the side entrance for restaurant bookings, it’s not that complicated. Food is served quick (it’s chicken and chips, so easy to do) but the staff, of which there are many, just sit about. Trying to get the bill, pay your bill, just get anyone’s attention, is a painful experience.

Came here on Saturday afternoon. Didnt have a booking . Ended up getting the chicken burger with gurkins buffalo sauce and sweet potato fries. My husband had half rack of ribs . We were able to place an order upstairs and eat it as a takeway in the bar down stairs. The lady (red hair ) who was very busy managing the restaurant was very friendly, efficient and accomadating to the many crowds we saw trying to get a table . Over all the food was seriously disappointing. My sweet potato chips were luke warm and the burger itself nothing special at all. My husband's ribs were tasteless . The atmosphere is nice in the bar but the food let the place down.

When both starter & main course arrive at same time you know immediately the plan is to get you out and turn around the table as fast as they can, Both meals arriving at table same time, do you eat your starter first and have a cold main meal or vice versa, My main was two massively over cooked chicken nuggets in a bap with 20 slices of pickle. Really poor,

This is a really good pub. Drinks are a bit expensive for students, and some days you can’t enter if you're under 21, but it's still worth it.

Absolutely incredible dining experience for the price! The chicken is real! Not that takeaway crap that is processed and full of water! If you want a proper night out, then visit Yardbird for a great meal and then cozy up in the The Dirty Onion bar for drinks.

The atmosphere is good, it didn't take long to bring the food, everything was clean, the customer service was good, but I liked the most important thing, the food, it was nothing special, I expected much more for the dishes themselves, I do feel that they were missing something apart from the dish should include something more for the price, not just a piece of meat because otherwise you have to weigh yourself a little more and double the price of what you spend, at least a small companion should bring so that the meal doesn't become so heavy. I miss only eating meat and it doesn't include a sauce with the price at least ketchup or mayonnaise, they only give you the option of paying £2 + for a sauce.

The restaurant located on the second floor, it was pretty empty during dinner time when we came so it’s easy to find a seat. Staff were friendly and recommend us which menu were their speciality. Ordered quarter chicken, fries, and coleslaw the chicken was well flavoured,tender and wasn’t dry at all other than that food came pretty quick. Really recommend!

Very nice pub and above all the entrance is free for our dogs. On the occasion of Christmas they organize a photo shoot with Santa Claus with the dogs. Beautiful experience.

Ok so it’s not typical Irish food but it’s great for a pint of Guinness. It’s the only place I’ve ever been when they tap the pint on the bar when it’s two thirds full. I really liked the ambiance of the bar and busy ( for a Monday evening ) restaurant called Yarbird. The menu is predominantly chicken and pork. No sirloin, rib eyes or burgers are cooked here. Loaded fries, wings, ribs, dips and either half or quarter portions of freshly roasted chicken. The open kitchen is busy with cooks and servers go back and forth there and greet the guests. Star of the show is the delightful Jasmine. She meanders effortlessly through the restaurant, does meet & greet, controls the booking system and brings your meals to the table. She’s one of the hardest working staff members I’ve ever seen. An absolute credit to the restaurant. I ordered the ribs and wings combo with a side. They were brought to me ten minutes later with a fresh pint of Guinness. The sweet potato fries were fine as were the ribs. However the wings were below par. Elephant & Castle in Dublin served the best wings I’ve ever tasted. These were nowhere near as good. Desert was a brownie with three toppings. This also was average. Great place to eat though, live music downstairs when I left.
