Food was all squished and cold. Wouldn’t order again.

Absolutely beautiful, my favourite food out of the whole of Belfast, and thank you for the drink I couldn’t order, your all saints 🥰

Have wanted to try here for ages, and I’ll def be going to the shop for a sit down meal. Please don’t change the wings. 👍 or tacos 🙌 not disappointed. See yous again soon. And thank you

Lovely food. Just something different. Loved the prawn tacos but some reason they've stopped them. Everything else is just as good.

Wasn’t what we ordered or expected. Ordered buttermilk chicken kebab, but it was just plain goujons cut up on chips. Also ordered fish & chips, fish was stale, batter was dry. Chips were cold. Really Disappointed, everything went in the bin.

The restaurant is clean, but unfortunately, it was very cold inside—you’ll need to keep your coat on. It seems to focus more on takeaway and delivery than dine-in experience. The chips and scampi were overcooked and too crispy, and the chicken burger was pretty average. The food is edible, but nothing special.

No not ever again Chips not crispy 11/2 n 1/2 prawns n squid very disappointing! Fish over cooked! Smells like old stale oil and its hard to sit inside with the fat smell.

I wouldn’t give this any star rating the food was freezing chips hard and also the scampi itself got was wet and soggy until attempted to eat a piece and realised it was dripping in oil! Whole order was not ate-able will not be ordering again

Was craving a cod from a chippy. Then came across the fish taco's, absolutely beautiful and I'm a very plain eater, mushy peas were also amazing 👏 this is my new takeaway delivery service, which was also brilliant 👏 😀

Food was fantastic but delivery guy was horrible. I forgot the code so had to go and get my phone. Honest mistake. He grunted at me and turned away. When he gave me food he went off in a huff. Constantly stared at the ground and made me really uncomfortable. I left a tip. Won’t be doing that again!

Arrived before my order was ready and told the staff I was waiting. 20mins later, no sign of food and asked about my order which was then produced from under counter. Asked to speak to the manager and he just said sorry and said he would speak to his front of house. Not good enough. Food tasted nice but had to be reheated in the microwave and air fryer.

So disappointed in this meal. I've ordered many times before, but the quality this time was awful. The quality of the ingredients has decreased terribly, the order wasn't correct, and due to how late it was delivered, the food was cold and soggy. I won't order from here again.

I ordered a burger for my daughter and requested a plain burger, but burger arrived with everything on which she couldn’t eat also no gravy sent with 2 kebabs ordered, food was tasty as always but disappointed with errors

I used to enjoy Squid Shack, but today’s experience was unacceptable. I found a long hair deeply embedded in my Salt n’ Chilli half squid, half prawns box. The waitress apologized and replaced it, but the portion was smaller, which felt unfair. I should have requested a refund. Now I have stomach pain. This incident completely changed my perception of this restaurant

The meal was soggy like it had been heated up in microwave. Don’t know what’s happened to this place it used to be so good.

Says the opening hours, open to 9pm, last 2 times I've went its been closed around 8.20 with no explanation.

Very disappointing how Squid Shack has gone downhill since opening in Ballyhack about a year ago. Prices were raised dramatically a couple of months ago (from £22 for two fish+chips to £28!), so we stopped going so often. Went back this week and they’ve changed their chips which used to be the best part - now much less tasty and just like any other chippy. Fish is still generously portioned and well cooked but I doubt we’ll be back.

Chips have changed since last time we ordered and not very nice at all. Arrived soggy and cold. Requested no ranch sauce on burger and arrived covered in it. Disappointing as previous orders have been lovely.

ordered the buttermilk kebab but the gravy was missing and the chicken wasn't the usual fried chicken, it was cut up breadcrumbs chicken goujons - it's usually great so v disappointed

Bit confused with all the great reviews it’s just Ok, taco was soggy as was the chicken in it although it looked great. Asked for sauce on the side for the squid didn’t get it so just a plain fry box of average squid although portion size is good

We had never tried the chicken kebab before and it hit the spot. It defo didn't look like buttermilk chicken that I have had before and resembled and tasted like a chopped up southern fried chicken burger on oven chips but still tasted good overall.

Very reasonably priced food, very hot and very, very tasty. Does not matter what you pick it will not disappoint. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The cod supper was reminiscent of the proper fish suppers i thought were gone forever! Big piece of fish beautifully flaky in beer batter (dont know what the beer brings) deep fried to perfection. Chunky chips were chunky, all delivered hot. Yummy😋

Absolutely the best fish tacos in Belfast, hands down! The fish and cheeseburger are excellent too, and the portions are huge. Highly recommended!

Heard a lot about the dundrum shop and was surprised to see this shop in Belfast. The food was lovely, the fish was so fresh and beautifully seasoned and the chip just as they should be crispy and fluffy.

Have visited a few times when in Belfast and passing Dundrum. It is simply delicious food; fresh, tasty and filling. Staff friendly, chatty and helpful. Nice inside the Ballyhackamore shop, spacious and clean. Salivating now writing the review!

First of its kind in Belfast, really worth the detour. Food is premium quality and very tasty, portions are good.

Appalling. Such a shame, because we have ordered from here before and it was delicious. Driver asked me for a PIN code before handing over food (security issue of someone potentially trying to steal my chips??). Cold & greasy. Awful.

Great quality food, really delicious!

First time home from Scotland since moving there 4 years ago. Wanted to show my wife and daughter where I lived and my daily life. We're both foodies so my problem was choosing where to go. Decided to try squid shack as it was new to me also for lunch. The server was fantastic (young girl from down south), I'm registered blind, my wife has mobility issues and daughter is autistic and she was very helpful. Her service alone deserves t stars! I went for a burger and my wife had the prawn tacos. I knew we were going to have a good meal when it was set down in very plain packaging with not much thought given to presentation, just like standard takeaway food. The burger tasted great and my wife was really impressed with her tacos, just the right amount of kick without being too hot. There was a few other tables filled and it was just a nice chilled atmosphere with our server calling over to check if we were OK. Ballyhackamore is known for its good choice of dining and squid shack fits in so well with its high quality food, service and atmosphere. Can't say anything about the pricing as I didn't hear how much it was and just rapped my card. Whatever it was it was worth every penny and we will return one day. Probably to try the lobster burger.

massive portions..but tasty. was completely empty when we were there. staff ok , not overly attentive but maybe that's the premise of their service. Bounces between tskeaway/self service vibe and table service. Food served in takeaway boxes even though sitting in . A bit confusing.

I the heart of Ballyhackamore. Busy wee place for a Friday night. Cute. Fish was excellently cooked and nice crispy onion rings. The table server was lovely. Only bug bearer was the menu is on the wall behind the till - very hard to study in a queue under pressure! Decor - nice but not cosy. A bit American diner.

Hi when here on Friday afternoon around 5 o'clock spoke to a lovely helpfull girl called Shauna who told all about the company and what good they do ,I ordered a half a d half squid and prawns ,and a portion of chip which came to 13.00 pounds the food was excellent the pawns and squid were cooked to perfection and the chips where nice and fluffy ,the whole meal and atmosphere was relaxed and layed back and that something you don't get anymore ,it has a nice family atmosphere with great food in a ice clean place ,I would recommend this place yen stars if I could and will be back again very soon

The food is great if you like spicy food. Some stuff were definitely too hot for me but it was still really nice. The squid are perfectly cooked. Shout out to the onion rings, it was especially good!

Tried the smash burger but it resembled more of a frozen bird's-eye burger... absolutely nothing about it was a smash burger and the bap was soggy everywhere to the point it was all mushy, also the burger was pink inside.. worst smash burger I've ever had very disappointed.

Ordered a treat for lunch. Fish delicious as always but at these prices I didn't appreciate yesterday's left over chips reheated.

Really good quality squid and shrimps. It was delicious. I got the half and half which was well cooked and fresh. While my friend ordered the lobster burger. He also said it was decently cooked and fresh. The wine was also refreshing and was at the right temperature. Overall a very good effort and I shall return.

Food was great, apart from forgetting to send the sauce with the burger. Time was changed after first time given with purchase.

Had it a few times now, always good. Chili half and half has a good spicy flavour. The fish and chips was the best I've had in a while, and decent sized bit of fish.

First time here and was such a surprise. Food was fantastic, portions a lot bigger than you usually get at this type of price, server knew the menu well, even ingredients that went into specific dishes. We will be back very soon. Thanks!

Great place but the aircon was fierce so we weren't able to relax too long. I'd asked but not sure they knew how to operate it. Staff super friendly and the food is great .

Chicken kebab was great, truffle chips were fab also. Wings were also great. Beef burger was good but have had better. Over all good job 👍 will order again.

Promising appearance and menu but disappointing taste in the end. To start positive, staff are lovely and the restaurant is spotless! Salt and chilli squid and onion rings were drowned with artificial seasonings which get overbearing after a few bites and mask what I assume to be quality ingredients. Fish taco batter actually needed some seasoning/better sauce though and the taco shells were stale. Disappointing foray into fast casual dining from Mourne and wouldn’t come back👎 Rework the recipes please, you’re letting yourselves down.

My teenage kids insisted I try this place, so I did and I was really impressed with the food and value for money. Bit of an unusual place. It’s neither a full restaurant or a basic takeaway either. Casual diner perhaps? Anyway I had the burger and it was very good. Not expensive restaurant quality, but definitely a significant cut above the average takeaway and really no more costlier. I hate overdone beef as it loses all the flavour. These guys get it just right. The fries are amazing, almost addictive and the portions are huge. We had 2 between 3 of us but actually that was even too much. Hard to believe they can offer food this good and so much of it for little more than the cost of food at McDonalds. Squid Shack is a must try. You won’t regret it.

Fantastic food! Everything I tried, I highly recommend, the salt and chilli (squid and prawn) box, hot dog and chicken burger especially. Could put some drinks on the menu but not a dealbreaker

I’ve visited 3 times because I really wanted to like it but I found the food very disappointing. The staff are always so lovely and helpful and a really nice clean dining area but for me the food lacks flavour. The first visit I had the hotdog which was dry and bland. For my next 2 visits I tried the squid and chicken boxes which were again disappointing and tasted very strongly of deep fried oil. Slightly more expensive than I would want to pay for a lunch but would have been happy to pay it if it tasted great which it didn’t.

Had a lovely meal. Good sized portions served hot and fresh. Server was very pleasant and good humoured. Would thoroughly recommend

Absolutely brilliant! 5* One of the best takeaways I have eaten in a while. From the packaging, all cardboard, no plastic! which is a plus in it self... The Food was great, ordered their Chicken Burger & is was brilliantly made and presented, the Chicken Kabab with with Chips were perfectly cooked crispy, the Onion Rings were made and packaged with effort and lovely. Well done guys! I will order here in future and hope this quality is not a one off like someplaces for first time customers

Sorry but these are the worst chips I have had in a long time, like warm cardboard… the fish was ok… but youre prices are higher than much better fish and chip places… I would bet you wont last long.

Stopped in to grab a takeaway, smash burger and the peri peri fries , I was very disappointed, I have sat in here several times and was always brilliant but this time it wasn't, I asked for plain smash burger, it came fully dressed and cold, the fries were over cooked and certainly not the standard they were previously

We tried the half and half, fish tacos, and maple bacon wings. All was fresh and good. The slaw sides a nice balance against the deep fried. The wings were... amazing. It is not health food, so ignore the negative reviews calling out for being fried. Prices fair, portions good, service excellent.
