Absolutely the best fish tacos in Belfast, hands down! The fish and cheeseburger are excellent too, and the portions are huge. Highly recommended!

Heard a lot about the dundrum shop and was surprised to see this shop in Belfast. The food was lovely, the fish was so fresh and beautifully seasoned and the chip just as they should be crispy and fluffy.

Excellent food, excellent service - as always! That's why we keep coming back!

Have visited a few times when in Belfast and passing Dundrum. It is simply delicious food; fresh, tasty and filling. Staff friendly, chatty and helpful. Nice inside the Ballyhackamore shop, spacious and clean. Salivating now writing the review!

First of its kind in Belfast, really worth the detour. Food is premium quality and very tasty, portions are good.

Appalling. Such a shame, because we have ordered from here before and it was delicious. Driver asked me for a PIN code before handing over food (security issue of someone potentially trying to steal my chips??). Cold & greasy. Awful.

First time home from Scotland since moving there 4 years ago. Wanted to show my wife and daughter where I lived and my daily life. We're both foodies so my problem was choosing where to go. Decided to try squid shack as it was new to me also for lunch. The server was fantastic (young girl from down south), I'm registered blind, my wife has mobility issues and daughter is autistic and she was very helpful. Her service alone deserves t stars! I went for a burger and my wife had the prawn tacos. I knew we were going to have a good meal when it was set down in very plain packaging with not much thought given to presentation, just like standard takeaway food. The burger tasted great and my wife was really impressed with her tacos, just the right amount of kick without being too hot. There was a few other tables filled and it was just a nice chilled atmosphere with our server calling over to check if we were OK. Ballyhackamore is known for its good choice of dining and squid shack fits in so well with its high quality food, service and atmosphere. Can't say anything about the pricing as I didn't hear how much it was and just rapped my card. Whatever it was it was worth every penny and we will return one day. Probably to try the lobster burger.

massive portions..but tasty. was completely empty when we were there. staff ok , not overly attentive but maybe that's the premise of their service. Bounces between tskeaway/self service vibe and table service. Food served in takeaway boxes even though sitting in . A bit confusing.

I the heart of Ballyhackamore. Busy wee place for a Friday night. Cute. Fish was excellently cooked and nice crispy onion rings. The table server was lovely. Only bug bearer was the menu is on the wall behind the till - very hard to study in a queue under pressure! Decor - nice but not cosy. A bit American diner.

Hi when here on Friday afternoon around 5 o'clock spoke to a lovely helpfull girl called Shauna who told all about the company and what good they do ,I ordered a half a d half squid and prawns ,and a portion of chip which came to 13.00 pounds the food was excellent the pawns and squid were cooked to perfection and the chips where nice and fluffy ,the whole meal and atmosphere was relaxed and layed back and that something you don't get anymore ,it has a nice family atmosphere with great food in a ice clean place ,I would recommend this place yen stars if I could and will be back again very soon

The food is great if you like spicy food. Some stuff were definitely too hot for me but it was still really nice. The squid are perfectly cooked. Shout out to the onion rings, it was especially good!

Tried the smash burger but it resembled more of a frozen bird's-eye burger... absolutely nothing about it was a smash burger and the bap was soggy everywhere to the point it was all mushy, also the burger was pink inside.. worst smash burger I've ever had very disappointed.

Ordered a treat for lunch. Fish delicious as always but at these prices I didn't appreciate yesterday's left over chips reheated.

Really good quality squid and shrimps. It was delicious. I got the half and half which was well cooked and fresh. While my friend ordered the lobster burger. He also said it was decently cooked and fresh. The wine was also refreshing and was at the right temperature. Overall a very good effort and I shall return.

Food was great, apart from forgetting to send the sauce with the burger. Time was changed after first time given with purchase.

Had it a few times now, always good. Chili half and half has a good spicy flavour. The fish and chips was the best I've had in a while, and decent sized bit of fish.

Great place but the aircon was fierce so we weren't able to relax too long. I'd asked but not sure they knew how to operate it. Staff super friendly and the food is great .

Chicken kebab was great, truffle chips were fab also. Wings were also great. Beef burger was good but have had better. Over all good job 👍 will order again.

Promising appearance and menu but disappointing taste in the end. To start positive, staff are lovely and the restaurant is spotless! Salt and chilli squid and onion rings were drowned with artificial seasonings which get overbearing after a few bites and mask what I assume to be quality ingredients. Fish taco batter actually needed some seasoning/better sauce though and the taco shells were stale. Disappointing foray into fast casual dining from Mourne and wouldn’t come back👎 Rework the recipes please, you’re letting yourselves down.

My teenage kids insisted I try this place, so I did and I was really impressed with the food and value for money. Bit of an unusual place. It’s neither a full restaurant or a basic takeaway either. Casual diner perhaps? Anyway I had the burger and it was very good. Not expensive restaurant quality, but definitely a significant cut above the average takeaway and really no more costlier. I hate overdone beef as it loses all the flavour. These guys get it just right. The fries are amazing, almost addictive and the portions are huge. We had 2 between 3 of us but actually that was even too much. Hard to believe they can offer food this good and so much of it for little more than the cost of food at McDonalds. Squid Shack is a must try. You won’t regret it.

I’ve visited 3 times because I really wanted to like it but I found the food very disappointing. The staff are always so lovely and helpful and a really nice clean dining area but for me the food lacks flavour. The first visit I had the hotdog which was dry and bland. For my next 2 visits I tried the squid and chicken boxes which were again disappointing and tasted very strongly of deep fried oil. Slightly more expensive than I would want to pay for a lunch but would have been happy to pay it if it tasted great which it didn’t.

Absolutely brilliant! 5* One of the best takeaways I have eaten in a while. From the packaging, all cardboard, no plastic! which is a plus in it self... The Food was great, ordered their Chicken Burger & is was brilliantly made and presented, the Chicken Kabab with with Chips were perfectly cooked crispy, the Onion Rings were made and packaged with effort and lovely. Well done guys! I will order here in future and hope this quality is not a one off like someplaces for first time customers

Sorry but these are the worst chips I have had in a long time, like warm cardboard… the fish was ok… but youre prices are higher than much better fish and chip places… I would bet you wont last long.

I knocked one point off simply because it's so smoky inside need better extraction. But food is lovely and staff friendly.

Stopped in to grab a takeaway, smash burger and the peri peri fries , I was very disappointed, I have sat in here several times and was always brilliant but this time it wasn't, I asked for plain smash burger, it came fully dressed and cold, the fries were over cooked and certainly not the standard they were previously

The food is simply tremendous. The salt and chilli squid lunch special is especially delicious and lots for £6.50

We tried the half and half, fish tacos, and maple bacon wings. All was fresh and good. The slaw sides a nice balance against the deep fried. The wings were... amazing. It is not health food, so ignore the negative reviews calling out for being fried. Prices fair, portions good, service excellent.

The fish tacos were so delicious, with fresh and crispy fish! ❤️❤️❤️ crispy fresh lettuce and red peppers with coriander dressing - very tasty! Salt chili prawns - also delicious with lots if yummy crisp greens. Prompt fulfilling of order and service. I'll definitely be back! I dined in and took takeaway for later.

We went there last night. The food was brilliant and the two girls at the counter were fantastic, couldn’t be any friendlier and helpful. They also have Gluten Free options including children’s options ( in other restaurants we have been they tend to forget that children can also be coeliac). Everything was great but it is a bit expensive that is why I give it 4 stars.

My wife and I decided to try Squid Shack.On entering the premises we noticed a strong smell of cooking oil so decided to sit outside.I got salt and chilli chicken which was GF and fries and my wife tried the buttermilk chicken.The portions were really large though quite delicious and the fries were the best I've ever tasted.The staff were so pleasant and cheerful. Definitely will be using them again to try some other lovely sounding dishes.

Never eat fish on a Monday Disappointing. The lobster burger was a pre made (or pre bought?) pattie which lost all notion of being made with lobster. Quite frankly it lost all notion of tasting like fish. The fish taco's were spolit by the the tacos which were so dry the moisture from the filling fell through as soon as you lifted them. The taco bread was like chewing cardboard. The salt and chilli squid was sliced to thinly and was dry and chewy after being deep fried, cancelling out its title. If you want good salt and chilli squid head across the road to the Orient. Not cheap either

I have been interested in trying here for a while. So jumped at an offer to try here. As usual at Ballyhackamore good luck getting parked. To be fair this area is well served by bus/glider. I did think it was more of a takeaway, very pleasantly surprised to find it was a good sized restaurant. Yes it serves everything in a box, and disposable forks. I don't think this is a negative. The food was top notch chippy. Fresh, well cooked, not greasy and above all tasty. It is licensed, but the only main negative is that while they have a great selection of beers the fridge wasn't up to the job. I can happily recommend here

I got prawn tacos which were great (would need chips as a side if for dinner) and two kids meals which they enjoyed. Portion size was better than I’d expected No plates or metal cutlery but food comes in paper/card containers with wooden disposable cutlery - No plastic

There was also insufficient ventilation and air extraction- leading to smell of cooking oil and smoke across whole shop - and the front door had to be kept open! Will not be back

Was so looking forward to Squid Shack experience but very disappointed- everything deep fried and over cooked - this ruined small amounts of fish in prawn & squid box! Staff were very helpful and changed my choice to regular fish and chips - looked good but again over cooked & burnt on under side. In addition there is insufficient ventilation and air extraction- leading to smell of cooking oil and smoke across whole shop - and the front door was open at the time! Will not return - had hoped for more fresh and modern options

Great quality food! The half n half salt chilli box is amazing (squid and prawns) and the hand cut chips are spot on. Customers who sit in are given wooden cutlery and there are no glasses/ice which should probably be corrected, otherwise shouldn’t it just be a takeaway? Will certainly be back again though - albeit with my own fork.

Lovely,good quality food. I sat in last weekend in the evening and was tempted to leave as soon as we entered as it was so hazy inside. Some of my clothes that can’t be easily washed are still ruined with the smell of grease. I think it needs some proper extraction fans and ventilation for those sitting in. At the minute I would recommend this place for takeout only.

Very tasty seafood! Had fish n chips, scampi and salt n chilli squid which fed 5 of us comfortably. It was all delicious. Great seasoning, texture and lovely little garnishes that added a little va va voom. Lovely stuff. Definitely recommend.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this seafood restaurant, and I have to say, I was blown away! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and cozy, and the friendly staff made me feel right at home. The menu had an impressive variety of fresh seafood options, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The standout for me was the Scampi - it was tender and flavorful, and I couldn't get enough! To top it all off, the service was impeccable. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a welcoming atmosphere. Five stars all around!

The salt and chilli prawns are incredible! Great portion size and so tasty. The house sauce is a must try too! Fully recommend and cant wait to return.
