Great little find on a day trip to Norwich - best pasta we've eaten for a long while

Been to Norwich 4 times and eaten here 3/4 - the food is great, atmosphere cute and staff are always friendly and helpful! Also, great value for money.

The food was absolutely amazing. We had the duck ragu which was a must have! The duck was ever so sweet while also being very unami which was a combonion made in heaven. My partner had the nudja and mascopone dish which while excellent was not quite as good as the duck ragu. A side of bread and garlic butter was a nice touch. Both of the dishes came with a lot of grated parmesan The service was friendly and quick. The food came to 35 for 2 with 2 mains and 1 side. Very reasonable for the quality of the food and service. Would defiantly recommend!

Never disappoints, one of the best options for pasta in Norwich! Tiramisu is delicious as well

A really nice place, it made great use of its small space. The food was really nice however it was a shame they lost our ticket and we had to wait a long time for our desserts.

My first restaurant visit since lockdown we enjoyed it very much beautiful place wonderful food carefully prepared with good ingredients and lovingly presented and served by tentative and very friendly waiters. We enjoyed our stay a great year. Thank you

A bit disappointing very small potion of pasta hardly any sauce,rude waitress hustled us out of our seats once we had finished interrupting our conversation, then handed us the machine to pay ,might as well told us to just go.Had a relative who was due to go this week told them not to bother far nicer friendlier places to eat in Norwich.

Descended on these guys late on a Sunday night with a party of 11 for a last minute meal. No issues, service was perfect, very accommodating and food excellent. Will definitely return!

Lovely restaurant, great pasta - unfortunately the specials had run out by the time we got there but the food from the main menu was lovely and there are plenty of options. Because the room is cosy but there’s quite a few tables it can get quite loud in there which is the only reason for the 4 stars for atmosphere. As it’s walk-ins only, we left our phone number with the server who called us when a table was available which only took about 15-20 minutes on a Saturday night.

Yard is my absolute favourite place to eat in Norwich! The food is absolutely delicious (the vegan carbonara is unmatched - I've never enjoyed anything so much!), the staff are friendly and kind, and the space itself is beautiful. I take everyone I know here! Good options for veggies, vegans, and meat eaters alike.

Beef shin ragu is the goto dish here. Great selection of tasty red wines. No booking possible which is awesome as you can just rock up a d generally get a table.

We went to the Yard before heading to Rome and I must say the food at this restaurant is just as good as in Italy ! We will definitely come back regularly.

Went for lunch with the parents on a nice sunny afternoon in Norwich. I had the sausage rigatoni and it was delicious. Really nice relaxed vibe with polite, friendly staff. Brought water out straight away which was a nice touch (especially on a hot day) and also asked if we wanted parmesan when ordering and whether this was to be vegan or not (for the veggies of the group) which of course I said yes knowing it was coming with a generous portion due to pictures I'd seen 😜. The menu had a perfect selection for me, keen to go back and try the nduja and lemon dish. Lovely find 🍝

What a fabulous little place. The food was so delicious. The staff were great and opened up the basement for our party as we had a long drive ahead of us. Couldn't recommend it enough. XxX

I’d heard great things about Yard, but we were pretty underwhelmed. Whilst the food was okay, much of it was not particularly flavourful and definitely not worth the price - most mains will cost you about £14. Starters didn’t seem worth the money at all. Portion for the beef ragu was small, and the when the food arrived the meat wasn’t very hot temperature wise. Definitely not the best place to get pasta in Norwich.

If you like parmesan cheese you're in luck...! Everything is covered in parmesan whether you ask for it or not... The pasta, in my opinion, was a tad overdone and the sauces unfortunately lost their punch with the copious amount of parmesan they plop on each dish. The service like many indicate is a bit poor as they are slow and inattentive . Starters come out after the main... But disappointed overall in the hunt for a good Italian in Norwich

The beef shin ragu is really tasty however the downstairs seating area is pretty terrible. It’s extremely dark and the music is very loud. It was so loud that I couldn’t clearly hear the person sat in front of me.

Had a wonderful lunch for two. Food was very tasty and staff were attentive and friendly. Great atmosphere. Very well priced and good value for money. I’ll definitely be returning.

Best place to eat in norwich…so fresh so tasty and great value for what you get….staff were wonderful, we arrived early and the music was loud once we sat down music was turned down…absolutely can’t fault this wonderful place to eat x

Great place to get your pasta fix

The food and cocktails are sublime, really great, the staff were so nice and friendly, the only downside were a table of noisy customers, but would still highly recommend dining here!

Little disappointed to be honest had the special which was a chilli prawn dish. Almost enough to feed a child with 3 prawns in £15/16 Then my wife asked for parmesan to be told by the waitress you don't put parmesan on fish pasta. That's the customers choice, With a sour face they got us some parmesan. Certainly not service with a smile. 4 of us it cost almost £100 and still a bit hungry when we left to be fair. Maybe it was a bad day

No advanced booking and there was a forty minute wait. However, it was totally worth it. The food was perfect, speedy arriving to the table, and was well looked after. Will be back again very soon.

Smallish menu but all of an excellent standard.

Delicious pastas and starters. And beyond delicious dessert - the baked Croissant with salted caramel ice cream was 10/10. The cacio e pepe was so peppery and cheesy and the beef shin ragu was also very good. One of the best tomato dishes I've had - a must try. Cozy interior and lively atmosphere and great service. Will be great to sit outdoors as it is quite warm inside.

Delicious pasta, vibey, slightly inadequate toilets. Eaten here a few times and would highly recommend. Short menu consisting of starters (basically buratta with different garnishes or olives), side salads and a selection of very delicious pasta dishes, which is the whole point of this place. The pasta is always very precisely cooked and the sauces are well-judged and tasty! Last visit I had rigatoni with big slices of porcini and a light creamy sauce - lush. The "peas" in the "buratta with peas" seem to consist of two sprigs of pea shoots - a very minor quibble unless you're a big pea fan. There's not much variation in price in the short wine list which starts at £25. Cheapest bottle of red was an absolute stunner, so that's all good. You can't book here, but you can leave your number, head off for a drink nearby and they'll call you when your table is ready. For a table for 2 on a Saturday night, the wait is generally a comfortable 1 pint, so unless you are utterly starving and need to eat immediately, it actually works out better than needing to book in advance. For bigger tables, I'd imagine there might be more of a wait though? The staff are all nice young artsy types who know their job well enough. Honestly, the only real criticism I have of Yard is something they probably can't do much about - the inadequate toilet situation. There's only two (unisex) stalls at the back of the courtyard and there's usually a small queue which probably sucks if it's raining or if you're on a romantic table for two in the courtyard and you don't find a queue of toilet people sexy. I haven't experienced either of these scenarios personally, though. Overall, I cannot recommend Yard highly enough. Very likely the best pasta in Norwich, and it never lets me down. But I do make a mental note to pop to the loo beforehand.

Stumbled upon this little gem. Sat outside in the sun and enjoyed a lovely spritz and a bowl of pasta. literally couldn’t recommend this place more, will be coming back. Also, the service is 10/10. Thanks so much :)

Portions are incredibly small for the increased prices. Also dishes are poorly seasoned which is a real basic thing. Wouldn't recommend

Popped in last minute on a Sunday and was greeted by Loue, she was warm and funny which made us feel immediately welcome. The place was very clean and we felt at home quickly. The food and drink was some of the best in Norwich. We’ll definitely be back

I love the food, the menu is perfect, the pasta fresh and delicious, friendly staff. My only problem is that the whole place feels unclean. The floor tables all sticky and the dreaded spray being used to wipe tables as you are eating next door. There is quite a pungent smell about the place and the distressed look is a bad look.. it needs an overhaul and freshened up to match its fab menu which is fresh and simple.

I really love Yard, the pasta is so fresh and chewy and the sauces are so flavourful. The service used to be on the slower side but the most recent time it was very busy and the wait staff were incredibly fast and attentive. With that fixed it is a perfect restaurant, simple menu and everything is fantastic. This is the best pasta you’ll find in Norwich.

This place gets better and better! I’ve always loved it here but tonight was particularly special- the team were so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The food was incredible- the new tomato burata dish is a game changer. Great cocktail recommendations too!

Quite disappointed with my experiences considering I have heard such amazing things about the place from people I know! I've been a few times (I like to give places a few tries before writing a not-so-great review) and I found that the vegetarian options are really underwhelming, and the menu has stayed the same for a few years. Drink selection is nice so no complaints there. The atmosphere is okay, very cramped at times when its busy. And the staff are lovely! Just the food that is a massive let down really, especially with the high prices, you expect better range accommodating to different dietary requirements, and better quality food too.

We’ve been coming here for a couple of years and the food is amazing in my opinion. The portions are perfect for myself and taste great. There’s only been a couple of times I didn’t enjoy something and it was taken off of the bill which is always nice. My main issue is with the extremely slow service. We have been late to things on occasion due to waiting so long from ordering to receiving food to ordering desert ( which we no longer do - we go elsewhere if we’re looking for something sweet because it takes so long ) to getting the bill. The servers are always lovely but every time we need something we’re having to go to the front bar to ask for it and it’s a long wait even then. The other thing is the menu hasn’t changed pretty much since they opened. We have tried every pasta dish and most of the sides. I get perfecting a small menu but surely it’s time to switch it up now?

SO bland. I have created a more flavourful gnocchi in 5 minutes at home for a couple of pounds. Definitely NOT worth £14. Also tried the tiramisu which had zero coffee flavour at all - completely plain base topped with mascarpone. It was like they’d forgotten to soak the lady fingers at all I either came on a bad night or these reviewers claiming this is “the best Italian food” need to get out more

I’ve been here twice now and the pasta is always amazing. You get a good sized portion and the service was very quick, the prices are good too, only thing I wish was that you could book in advance :)

Definitely one of the best pasta in Norwich with generously topped parmesan cheese. However, it's a pity that the portion is getting smaller over the past three years. Increasing the portion with a slight raise of the price would be nice.

Yard has an amazing menu, filled with delicious options. The cacio e pepe is divine, creamy with plenty of black pepper. I would also thoroughly recommend the tiramisu; its rich without being too heavy, absolutely delicious.

Bit understaffed, but hands down best cocktails in Norfolk.

The staff were super friendly and welcoming you into the restaurant. The overall vibe of the restaurant was calming and the little candles on the table were relaxing. Found out about this restaurant through TikTok so had to try it out!! I highly recommend the Bucatini with slowed cooked tomato sauce dish it was extremely delicious and flavoursome the Parmesan mixed in with the pasta was delightful. I did have to season my pasta with black pepper and the bucatini was slightly chewy on the plus side it was a yummy dish. The menu was clearly labelled with vegetarian and gluten free options and had a festive menu available. Not too suitable for wheelchair users and the main seating area is up some stairs and one table is available with no stairs.

Yard is one of those places that I always want to go to when I'm in Norwich. The quality of the food is simply great - simple menu and ingredients executed fantastically for a really good meal. The staff are attentive, the setting is cosy (albeit a little noisy at times) and it doesn't break the bank either.

I have been to Yard many times over the past couple of years and each time it has been perfect! The service is friendly and quick, the food is always cooked fresh and well and the restaurant has an amazing atmosphere both upstairs in the main part of the restaurant and downstairs in the bar area with mood lighting, plants and wall decor.

This restaurant is a gem, cosy with a great atmosphere, Menu was simple but good quality and super tasty. Our waiter gave excellent customer service and was well informed about the food he was serving. The wine was very good value, we went for the cheapest on the list which was lovely and perfect accompaniment to our food. Absolutely loved my first visit and will definitely go back.

We have been here a few times over the years and we have enjoyed it every time. Today's was the best out of the few. Very kind and speedy service with a short wait time. I had pasta with sausage and it was lovely.

The pasta here is exceptionally delightful, featuring fresh pasta and a truly delicious flavor. It's absolutely worth a visit. On top of that, don't miss out on the must-try garlic butter bread.

Great fresh food, reasonable prices

Ticked every box! We used to frequent another Italian restaurant, but unfortunately, after a beaming review from a very famous food critic, the prices have been set to match, which is a shame but good for their business. However this restaurant, for me, totally stole the show for Italian cuisine! Beautiful, fresh food at incredibly reasonable prices and fantastic, laid back service! Not pushy or overbearing, just the right amount of attentiveness! So what's not to love! My favourite place to eat in Norwich by a mile. A small, no fuss menu with plenty of choice! And as a side note, the music in the background was top notch. I will be dreaming about the sausage and fennel dish for weeks to come!

This is without a doubt the best Italian in Norwich. Yard is the closest food you can get to authentic Italian food. The price is incredible reasonable, especially for the quality and potions.

Atmosphere inside and outside is buzzy, staff are friendly and hard working but always look busy. Would recommend to anyone visiting Norwich.

Delicious food in a cosy atmosphere (we sat downstairs). Reasonable pricing too. It was a little bit inconvenient to use the toilet due to you having to walk through their courtyard to get to the loo and it was tipping it down with rain but I didn't really mind when I came back to a mocktail and plate of delectable pasta 😊

We all loved our experience here, the food was amazing and the two women that served us were absolutely lovely and very helpful in helping us choose between dishes. One of the other servers was rather rude but his attitude was totally made up for by the other staff. We will definitely return here!

Freshly cooked pasta dishes at a very good price, been several times and it really is great value for money. You cant pre-book, just walk in and ask for a table, they take your details and number and call you as soon as pone becomes available. if you like pasta dishes, this is 100% a must try.

We really enjoyed our meal at Yard - delicate and delicious pasta, a surprisingly yummy ice cream stuffed croissant and a couple of glasses of wine, all enjoyed in a lovely relaxed atmosphere! Top marks to the staff. You know the drill - Get your name on the list, go for a drink, wait for the call and enjoy.

Amazing starters and pasta, never had a bad sitting. Always feel like I am back on a holiday in Italy when I am there, especially when the sun is out. Walk-ins only, so be prepared to wait during busy times! Google maps is a relatively reliable way to check if it's a busy time or not, at least in my experience so far!

Food was great, but the inside restaurant was very hot so we asked to eat outside which seemed to be in need of a good clean and soon TLC service was slow however we can forgive that as they were very busy, but would have been nice to be told there would be a wait!! The yard at the back could be great with some TLC

Another great meal this evening in Yard, Norwich. We love the atmosphere in this restaurant; warm, friendly and intimate. The service was great. The food is fantastic and great value. Gnocchi in sage butter melts in your mouth. The beef ragu sauce is delicious. The salted caramel toasted croissant ice cream sandwich was incredible. Not surprised that it was really busy on a Tuesday evening.

Yard is a case in point of how appearances can be deceiving: despite not being able to book and sitting tucked inconspicuously into the corner of the street, this restaurant serves the best pasta in Norwich, and for prices that are hard to bear. The pasta is handmade and you can tell.

Lovely food and cocktails great service

A great pasta spot offering some amazing food and wine with reasonable prices. If you’re in Norwich, you have to hit up Yard and eat here. The service is great, with some friendly and attentive staff. The food tastes amazing, and I highly recommend the garlic butter bread starter and the beef ragu. The outside area is also very lovely and I love eating outside in the summer. Highly recommend!
