This pub pretends to be dog friendly, don’t be fooled! You can take your dog if you don’t mind eating your lunch sitting surrounded by men watching football on a big screen, shouting and screaming at the television. This is in the glorious surroundings of a converted cattle shed. Why we weren’t allowed to sit in the main pub with our dog is anyone’s guess. It was the most unpleasant dining experience I have ever had and we couldn’t hear each other speak. Had it not been Easter Sunday we would have left. The food was ok, not much food for the money. Never eaten so quickly and left as soon as we could. What a shame, very backwards in the owners thinking. We go to Norfolk a lot and even the Michelin star restaurants allow dogs.

As we were visiting the area, I researched places we could eat after a long walk where kids & dogs were allowed. This little gem was a great find, place lovely, staff friendly & food good too. We day in the beer garden as it was sunny & warm, which had games for the kids too.

We were staying at the local Hafan Y Mor Havan site, wanted to eat out and so we chose this local pub. Not knowing what to expect we really weren't disappointed. The food and service was excellent. The menu was on the small side but what they did they did very well (a good strategy I always think). We went as a group of five adults and the 3 kids and the kids were very well catered for. A good kids menu, I believe they ate free and were given an activity sheet. One of the nicest meals out ive had in awhile and all round I'd throughly recommend.

Called twice over the weekend and both times we couldn’t fault a thing. Just had starters on Saturday - Chicken Wings for myself and Leek and Potato soup for my partner. Both were perfect, the soup homemade like your Nan would make and the wings were perfection. On the back of this we booked in for Sunday roast - a decision we didn’t regret. I had the braised lamb, the other half had a small beef(she can never eat a full roast dinner, great to find a place that will serve a smaller portion even if not a child or a pensioner!!). The meat was delicious(I got to sample both). The veg was all fresh and tasty - tenderstem broccoli, carrot, cabbage(red, white or green), creamy mash and roast potatoes which were done specially for us in oil as my partner has an allergy to goose fat. It was all perfect. To round it off I had a cheese board and my partner had a homemade Strawberry cheesecake which was beautiful apparently!! Can’t praise the food or service enough, it was all amazing . We will be back!

Lovely pub with a welcoming atmosphere, we’ve been meaning to try this place for a while and we’re pleased that the food and the atmosphere met our expectations. Hoping to go back again soon

We had a wonderful meal here while on holiday nearby. Both adult mains were faultless. Great veggie and kids options with fantastic service from all the staff. Highly recommend.

Had Sunday Lunch with my family and dog here. All the staff were friendly and the food was great. Good selection of Welsh beer and spirits too. We felt comfortable sitting in an outbuilding with our dog, lots of outside seating too.

Lovely pub, delicious food. My partner loved the passion fruit tart dessert. Good service from young staff in a very nice location, plenty of parking too.

The service was phenomenal. The atmosphere in the restaurant was delightful and there was a brilliant selection of drinks to choose from. The Sunday roast we had was delicious, a lovely end of week treat. Would definitely recommend to others in the area.

Very nice sandwich with chips and a pint. A bit expensive but good food. Lovely pub with good, friendly service. Good music.

Had a lovely meal here. Garlic Mushroom starters were delicious. My wife had plaice very nice,I went for the Spicy Chicken Madras half and half it was too much after the starter and they put what was left it in a take away For us. Lovely local staff really looked after us well. Diolch yn fawr iawn!!

Popped in on the off chance driving past. Lovely food, excellent service, enough parking and a huge beer garden. Very dog friendly too with water bowls available

We came to y madryn as a family of 4 for the roast dinner. We expected it to be good as we had already seen some of the reviews and pictures. This restaurant exceeded our expectations. We all had the braised lamb roast (adult and child versions). The lamb was beautiful, the vegetables were perfectly cooked and the gravy was delicious. The waiting staff were also very friendly and helpful . I would recommend this place to anyone staying near pwllelhi. We will certainly be going again before our holiday is over!

Very dear for what you get, food very nice but the portions were tiny, the kids meal was a rip off, would not go again

Visited with my mum and older after watching the Liverpool v Newcastle game in the Sports bar next door. The food and service were outstanding. I had the beef short rib which was so tender. My son had the steak which he said was cooked perfectly. My mum’s chicken dish couldn’t be faulted. Great to a proper local pub at the heart of the community producing food of this quality. I hope the place thrives!!

Visited as a family group of 8 adults, 1 teen and 3 children. 3 of our party have different food allergies which were taken very seriously and catered for extremely well, including cooking alternatives to the childrens menu as a precaution due to allergies. Our party had a variety of starters. The garlic mushrooms were excellent and very generous serving size. The slow braised rib of beef was honestly the best I have ever eaten! Perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and generously portioned. The others in our party had a variety........ seafood linguine, chicken supreme, braised lamb, rump steaks, tomato and cheese pasta. Every single meal was faultless. Hot, delicious and beautifully presented The waiting staff were attentive and friendly, checking that everything was in order and ensuring that the food came out simultaneously so that we could all eat together. The desserts were fabulous, too. More than ample portions of vegan ice-cream for the children. Delicious hot, fresh rhubarb crumble and sticky toffee pudding with lashings of custard for the adults. The bar has a great selection of craft gins, serves a great pint of beer, and has zero alcohol options available. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. A huge thankyou and well done to all the staff involved in making our visit so wonderful.
