Too often the vegetarian options are an afterthought but the lasagne was good and very hot. Other dishes looked god too. Reasonable prices and decent portions. Very good value.

We'd been given a tip yesterday to check this place out for Sunday lunch, and certainly not disappointed. Excellent service, generous portions and very good value for the price. They also only do walk ins, which is ideal if you're looking for a last minute spot. Would definitely recommend and will be back again. Diolch yn fawr!

Pure chance that my son and I came across this pub on the night of the Wales-England WC match, and our fears that we'd be battered with leeks and driven back out into the cold (we're English, after all) proved totally unfounded. Quite the opposite happened: a friendly welcome, good craft beer too cheap to mention, and free bangers and chips at half time. Pity about the game result, but we were not held accountable. The folks who run this place know what they're doing. It ain't the Ritz, but we wouldn't want to drink at the Ritz anyway. Well done!

Loaded Nachos were smothered guacamole out of a tube and some orange 'cheese' a flavoured sauce. Served with no accompanying cutlery or plates. Was frankly disgusting. Fish and chips were ok Apple pie and custard was presented as broken pieces of pie swimming in artificial sugary custard. Prices were OK service OK venue too bright no atmosphere irritating music. Can't understand where the other good+ reviews came from. Will never return.

Absolutely the best Sunday lunch we have ever had. Chef was lovely and was not shy with the selection of meats and vegetables. All cooked to perfection. If you are in the area give it a try.

Oh my goodness, what a meal! For about thirteen pounds you received ham. roast beef, pork loin, oven roasted potatoes. a choice of rolls, mashed potatoes,squash, red cabbage cooked to perfection, leeks and bacon, peas, and more. All incredibly prepared for your Sunday afternoon dining experience.

We called in having come to Caernarfon on the Welsh Highland Railway, looking for a spot of lunch. Staff were extremely friendly and took our orders promptly. Had a baguette each with a side portion of the salt n pepper chips which were lush! Sat outside as warm ( as no one in restaurant but could have sat in bar area). Highly recommend.

The food was very good and well presented. We had the Lamb stew, chicken wings and cockles. All were good and enough to eat. The place is very cute and the building dates to the 1200’s. The service was friendly and fast.

A great find after visiting Caernarfon castle. Really friendly staff and great value carvery with choice of 4 meats. Very generous portions and all reasonably priced. Also had another menu for more choice. Lovely friendly people and look forward to visiting again- well done all! 😊👍

What a find! We loved the Sunday lunch, everything was really well cooked. 4 choices of meat, lots of veggies and usual trimmings, can’t fault it. Staff was very friendly too. Nice atmosphere, highly recommended of you’re in the area.

Visited with family as heard the carvery here was good. Ham was delicious but the beef was awful, couldn't chew it, couldn't even get the knife through it, left by all who had it (dog was happy), Broccoli also too hard and never seen brown/black Cauliflower cheese before? We had a fantastic meal here this evening. Food was cooked and flavoured perfectly and beautifully presented. The sea bass and steak were spot on (chips and pepper corn sauce were amazing!). Will definitely be back!

Fabulous freshly cooked food and friendly staff. I had the fish cakes with dill mayonnaise to start followed by the sticky rice bowl with salmon. My husband had the same main course and started with the sticky chicken wings. Fabulous flavours. We will return!!

Even though it was a very busy Saturday we were welcomed very warmly by the staff. The service was swift and efficient The food was tasty and imaginative.

Ok it looks great from the outside, it’s in a picturesque town centre, but, stains left on teapots and cups, wallpaper hanging off ceilings, damp patches, dirty mirrors and dusty vents really are something that a hygienic, clean individual would want to avoid at all costs. We did not order any food but our first impressions were godawful - stains on crockery and dirty bathrooms and damp patches are really letting a late 18th/ Early 19th century historical restaurant down, and it looks like it had not been looked after for a good 6 months maximum.We will 99.9% not be coming back.Highly disappointing.

Went for lunch to Y Castell as we were both hungry and the weather was miserable.Went into the restaurant which was simply furnished with little character.I had beef and ale pie which had really good beef in it. With it came L shaped chips which I had never had before but tasted ok and I can see why the restaurant trade would use them as they would cook quickly. Also peas, which tasted like ...peas!Overall ok but not particularly inspiring.My friend had vegetable curry with rice and a large popadom. All right but again nothing special about it.Overall the food tasted ok but seemed to lack a bit of flair in the presentation

Met the extended family here for Sunday lunch - service was excellent, food was delicious and plentiful and then the deep-fried rice pudding was ordered off the specials board. Wow ... just perfect

Went here after getting off the steam railway to hide from the rain. Food was really good and arrived quickly. Very friendly to the dog despite him being wet and soggy. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone in the area especially if vegetarian as a good selection on the menu.

We left our teenagers at home and came to enjoy dinner here. I’ve found the food in other restaurants in town to be very simple and not very interesting. This was the best for me. The portions were good for tapas and tasty. The beer and wine selections good. The coffee was delicious after the meal as well.

We found the restaurant through trip advisor and chose it because it was close by and we were hungry. But the food was really good. My husband had the veggie curry and it was delicious. I had the special of a giant Yorkshire pudding stuffed with cottage pie, and it was huge! Not highly seasoned, but tasty. Unfortunately the lemonade was more like sparkling water (which I don’t like!) but the service was good and if you want a hearty meal just steps away from the castle, this is your place!

We sat outside on a lovely warm day about 300 yards from the majestic Caernarfon Castle, where Prince Charles ceremony of Investiture was held in 1969. So the location was unparalleled, and so was the food, served by friendly , courteous staff, also a great pint. Highly recommended , we will always return here.

We came here for a family meal after a day of walking around the town, there was absolutely no faults in our meal, in fact it was absolutely delicious. Would recommend the steak and ale pie! Went for Sunday lunch with friends and family. The food was cold, and was taken back and microwaved. The decor needs updating and wouldn't recommend if you are looking for somewhere to eat.

Are here last night after a day up and down mount Snowdon we were all due a good feed.

Ate there on a slow Thursday evening toward the end of dinner service. Ordered at the bar since nobody came to where we were seated. Ordered the salad with pine nuts and it didn’t have any pine nuts. Also ordered the tomato basil soup. While the soup tasted homemade, it must have been reheated because mine was partially cold, like it had been heated in a microwave and not stirred to ensure it was hot throughout. We did get a large house salad and only charged for a side salad, so that was fine. The waiter/bartender had to be reminded to bring us water and the waitress only showed up once to see if we needed anything. The atmosphere is nothing spectacular; actually, it’s pretty bland, with little decoration.

Went to the castle and the family fancied a drink. We walked into the square and saw this pub not knowingly it did food.

We called in for Sunday lunch with friends. There was a main, Sunday and specials board to choice from. After checking the steak and ale pie was actually a pie and not stew with a lid our good arrived quickly. The pie was packed full of meat which we cooked perfectly. Together with the home cooked chips and vegetables it was a perfect Sunday lunch. Defiantly worth the money and a revisit.

We have two collies so didn’t go in on Friday as it was too busy but Sunday I had their vegetable lasagne, delicious and we had a lovely evening. We would go back again.

I was in the area for a costume fitting as I work as an Extra. My two friends and I went in for lunch and were not disappointed. i am veggie but they even have a vegan menu which was lovely. Enjoyed a lunch with our tour group. There were 20 of us so service was a tad slow. The meals we pre-ordered were tasty. It was a cool day so we were happy for nice warm food placed in front of us! The restaurant (and hotel) are located steps away from Caernarfon Castle.

We are lucky to get a table as walk ins in late August at this fine restaurant close to the interesting but kitchee Portmeirion resort. It impressed as an upscale dining room to a couple who felt slightly intimidated by our request for a light lunch. My soup was delicious and it was followed by a trio of starters shared with my wife. All good, as was her Vol Au Vent but the best was yet to come in the form of a fruit crumble that was packed with an assortment berries and contained in a very well constructed crumble pastry. The ice cream also helped, not that the desert needed much improvement. The service was excellent - thoughtful but not intrusive. It was not an inexpensive outing - even for a light lunch - but you don't mind paying when the quality is there.

Good roast beef, with tasty mash potato, baked potato, Yorkshire’s pudding and gravy and vegetables. Nice environment.

I was looking for a nice meal on a Monday evening in the town and checked Trip Advisor. Some of the places recommended weren’t open as it was a Monday but this was so I gave it a try and wasn’t disappointed. I felt quite comfortable there as a female on her own. The food & service were good, they had an excellent bottle of Merlot too. Loos were nice as well.

Came here some years ago and wasn't impressed but this place has had the one hell of a facelift. Bar, restaurant, furniture very modern and staff very pleasant, polite and friendly. Came here to watch the footy and have a few drinks - was really nice and enjoyable. Please do not think that this is a noisy sports bar, it isn't. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it was quiet and away from the bar area, well attended and the food looked and smelled fantastic.

I ate here with a group of friends on Friday, absolutely lovely food. Between us we had fish & chips, gammon, chicken Caesar salad, chicken pesto pasta & lasagne. Everyone really enjoyed and my lasagne was huge, homemade and absolutely delicious!

The lamb shank was perfectly prepared and spot on. The lasagna was tasty. Would eat there again especially the lamb shank.

Was a bit late for lunch and on a Bank Holiday Monday. We'd had a couple of false starts & excuses. But this Tapas Bar was different. They were very helpful and advised us. We ordered a selection of Tapas and sides. Fusion of the Spanish and Welsh very well cooked and excellent quality of service. Selection of wines and beers on offer I chose a local cider.

We stumbledupon this pub by day, having spent a couple of hours sightseeing and my husband fancied a quick pint.

From the moment we walked in we loved this place. We were a family of four and were looked after from start to finish. As there was a party on we were shown upstairs to a quiet table. They even carried our pushchair up the stairs for us. We were regularly asked if we needed anything and nothing was too much trouble. Service with a smile and lovely food equals a return visit for sure.

Travelled to Caernarfon on the steam train with the family and dogs. It can sometimes be hard to eat somewhere when travelling with dogs. I had found this place online. Yes they are welcoming of people and dogs. Ordered four very different meals. A BLT on granary. A pie, chips and peas. Ham, egg and chips and a Bacon cheese burger. All arrived in prompt fashion and were very tasty. The service was great thanks. Nicely satisfied, now for a walk around Caernarfon.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of June and ate in the resturant on our first night. The food was good, hot, and flavoursome. Great staff. Great range of gins available in the bar too. Great stay, great staff and great food.

Oh dear, how bad can food get? Lamb shank that has to be cut off the bone with a steak knife rather than falling off the bone as advertised. Fillet steak that is so tense, and cold, that it doesn’t bleed when cut even though it’s medium rare. The staff were doing their best, but the food was just awful. Just don’t go here!!

To start off the service from the waiter and waitress was good. The FOOD was cold, there was vegetable, onion rings and other things missing from our main meal and to top it all off we waited an HOUR & A HAlF for the food.

Being a Sunday evening we did not have a lot of choice. The food we had was fairly ordinary and not good value. It was acceptable but not nearly good enough to make us want to come back

Wir sind auf Empfehlung unseres b&b; ins Castell gegangen. Von außen wirkt es sehr einladend und auch das Personal war freundlich. Scheinbar hat das Restaurant nur am Wochenende auf; gut wir waren an einem Sonntag, sollte also kein Problem sein. Tatsächlich erwartete uns nur eine sehr kleine Karte mit typischen Bar-Food. Auch kein Problem, da gibt es ja auch leckeres.

Celebrated our wedding with a 2 course meal at Y Castell for us and 30 friends. The dining room upstairs was decorated and laid out perfectly for our needs and had stunning views of the Caernarfon Square.
