Ist visit and wow what a treat, the food and service were exceptional,highly recommended in tonight for our second visit the standard is even higher with a recommendation of sliced pork in chilli absolutely amazing

Best Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had, the owners are extremely friendly, you’ll always feel welcome there. Been going here for years and won’t stop any time soon.

Noodles were burnt, chicken looked liked cooked 2 days ago and the rest wasn't great. First time I've taken food back to the restaurant, at least they reimbursed most of it back

Everything that should be crunchy was and everything that should be tender was so right for me.

Reserved a table 3 days before. Infinite details were required but on arrival nobody had heard of us. Got a pot of tea fairly promptly but after 30 minutes had to go into the kitchen to get some service. Another 25 minutes for soup and only 10 for the main course after that. Paid the bill at the counter and on leaving was presented with the same bill again by another member of staff. Food was good but service virtually nonexistent. Place seemed preoccupied with fulfilling takeaway orders at the expense of in house customers. Had similar experience in October.

Honestly the best Chinese food I ever ate.

Got a takeaway tonight, loved the crispy chilli beef and fried noodles. Also the mixed starter for 2 was great, lovely crispy chicken and the salt and pepper ribs were excellent only downside is I wish there was more meat on the ribs 👍

Really enjoy the food at Xing Long, always been delicious (especially the twice cooked pork). It's much lighter on salt and oil than typical Chinese takeaways, which I like. Staff are friendly in my experience, though it is cash-only. Giving 4 of 5 stars as sometimes they don't have available everything on their menu, and did forget our spring rolls once. A minor negative for an otherwise good service 👍 Happily come back again.

Visited here for the 2nd time ordered exactly the same thing as the first time and was very disappointed the singapore fried rice was fine but salt n chilli squid was hard also the chow mein had an over powering burnt taste...

Had a takeaway from here last night, we were all very impressed by the service and the food. Well worth a try, we certainly will use them again.

We usually go to the Mayflower Chinese in centre of town, but with that closed for queens funeral, went here instead, we were not disappointed, lovely staff, lovely food.

I have always been given the best service from Xing Long, the staff are consistently friendly and helpful. I have eaten hundreds of Chow meins from hundreds of different places, but this is the best, better than all the rest. We are always treated by the wonderful surprise of prawn crackers which has never failed to bring a much needed smile in these dark days. Don't wait too Xing Long to try the best Chinese food in Bristol.

Nicest chinese in Bristol and usually ready in 15 mins. Very nice staff.

Nice and quiet (usually, depending on who is there) for a meal in, Fast and efficient service for takeaway. Only small problem is that they are cash only, but there is a cash point just across the road if you need it.

Loved this restaurant after finding it reviewed here. Took my 70+ parents who love Chinese food but can’t have MSG, too much salt etc. It’s excellently prepared, quick, fresh, non-greasy and homely. It’s was very busy with takeaway orders but you should eat in, it’s a relaxed place to go with friends and family.

AMAZING takeaway. The kung po duck and it was THE BEST THING IVE EVER HAD. I will definitely buy from here again!

Best food i had in years. Also fast service.

Came in on a Saturday evening, the place was very empty albeit for a loud group of 'lads'. Service was a little chaotic and we had to ask for the table to be cleaned. As others mentioned, the toilets were quite dirty too. Food came promptly and was really tasty and overall fairly priced. Like many Chinese restaurants, it was cash only, which I find very annoying these days. Photos show lots of dead flies in the toilet light and dirty toilet bowl.

Had takeaway from them last night and it was pretty good! Found a bit strange the satay chicken was quite on the spicy side but other than that the food was pretty good. Peking ribs and mini spring rolls were absolutely great.

However, these were verbally increased to £7.90 and £7.50 with the excuse that costs are going up! I asked to not put onions in mine but it was full of onions (I wasn’t able to attach a picture here), it smelled weird and it was so salty! I was only able to eat the boiled rice after paying £20! There is no email address to complain, so I wouldn’t know how to ask for refund as it was difficult to understand each other on the phone. We won’t return and I hope that this review will avoid future disappointments!

Chow main was literally over cooked with meat burned and not eatable. Salt and pepper squid was bad too, also they used broken plastic container. Too expensive for such a low quality chinese

The toilet was very dirty. They did not bother to clean it. I had an awful experience. Disgusting! The food is alright. But I won't go back there. The table wasn't very clean. Awful cleaning detail.

Tried Xing Long out tonight for the first time. The lady who took my order over the phone couldn't find my address but persisted and was friendly and patient. The food was lovely, each dish actually tasted different which I find some Chinese takeaways fail to deliver on. The Szechuan pork was really tasty, crispy beef actually crispy and spicy and rice tasted fresh and moist. We had the food delivered and arrived within the 45 minutes I was advised it would be. The lady who delivered the food had some struggles finding our house but when she did she was extremely polite and friendly. I would really recommend this to anyone who wants a good quality Chinese takeaway and if you appreciate good service.

I am returning to this restaurant after a long while. The layout of the tables inspire confidence post pandemic without taking away the ambiance of eating out. Now to the food and service. Beef satay stood out among others dishes tried out. Service was good.

Went today and waited outside for an hour for them to open … at least another 10 people tried to eat there as well. There was someone inside and they never opened … IT IS NOT OPENED TUESDAY nights

Visited around 8pm on a Saturday and service was great and food was great and came quickly. I had tofu and was some of the best I’ve had. It was also very good value. Would definitely recommend Xing Long.

food was cooked fresh and on time but, we ordered the set menu for 2 (£27) but what we received wasn’t really up to scratch.. I’ve never had carrots in a chicken curry before, in fact there was carrots in everything and other vegetables you wouldn’t find in Chinese cooking. The meat was super tender and really nice but the thin sauce in the dishes we ordered let the whole thing down! hope this review helps but will certainly not be ordering from here again!

I used to love this restaurant, it was great to eat in and as a takeaway. Last 3 orders I made from here were however avenge. 1) cut my change by a few quid, when I asked where the rest was, the lad who dropping it off didn’t know and walked off. 2) the meal was okay, they got a dish wrong and again got short changed for the second time in a row. 3) last night I ordered again, the chow main was pretty plain and dry, the veggie spring rolls had meat in them, the satay was great, but the beef was quite hard to chew. I tried to call back to complain but can’t get through.

We placed an order for delivery, and got the fried pork udon noodles, which my boyfriend really liked however I thought they were a bit greasy and didn't have much pork. Then the crispy beef in chilli sauce, the beef to batter ratio was a bit heavy on the batter side, I couldn't really taste the beef. However, the salt and pepper chicken, and the sweet and sour chicken, were both brilliant! We also had the duck pancakes, the plum sauce was a bit milder than I'd like but my boyfriend preferred it this way so again just personal preference. When ordering, the person that I spoke to didn't seem to be thrilled to be speaking to me, not the best telephone manner, but I do understand working in hospitality can be tough. He'd said 40-50 minutes, we were surprised when the doorbell rung after about 20 mins! So, very quick delivery for a Sunday night. Delivery was cheap too, only £1, and I'd say the food was all reasonably priced. Thanks very much Xing Long.

We often get take away from Xing Long and it's very tasty. Pick up and delivery available. We have eaten in too and found the food just as scrummy. Staff are always friendly. Price is good and the dim sum yum 😋

What a pleasant surprise . No MSG . Consistently Delicious !

Incredible value for money, the food was great! I was surprised by the attention and detail they have. They put the sauces on the side so that the food is not mushy, and they leave a hole in the dishes that have breadcrumbs so that it doesn't get wet.

The best chinese takeaway in Bristol. We used it because it was close, we have moved further away and we still pay extra for the delivery. Great tasting food and good prices!

Awesome. We were looking for simple, traditional, chow mein and prawn fried rice and we got it. Perfect. The chili salt squid was also good. And as for the sweet and sour prawn balls - so good! They delivered the prawn balls separately to the sauce, so they didn't go soggy. How many places do that?

During lockdown we ordered takeaway from this restaurant a few times and we’ve never been disappointed! We’ve never eaten in the restaurant but our food has always been ready in less than 20 minutes, the staff always friendly and helpful. We find that the quality of the food is very good, not too greasy and full of oil like it happens in other restaurants. The portions are big and the price is fair. We’ll keep ordering from this restaurant again for sure.

New Year’s Eve order was a disaster. Ordered £70 worth or food and after waiting over 1 hour in the restaurant I was told that a few items have yet to be cooked. They never apologised or offered a discount on future orders or anything at all. So it’s the customer who loses out when they get it wrong and they’ve taken no responsibility for their mistake. No go zone.

My all time favourite Chinese takeaway is sweet and sour pork balls with egg fried rice which Xin Long don't serve. After being sadly let down by my usual Chinese takeaway the other week I decided to try the Hong Kong sweet and sour pork and it was superb. A wonderful surprise. Highly recommended.

AWFUL! Waited 30 minutes for the staff to acknowledge us, not even asked if we would like a drink starters arrived without any sauces, then duck arrived dry completely shredded with no taste. Never once was we asked how are food was or would we like another drink. Portions way over priced and far to big. It then took 15 minutes for the bill to come with a 10% service charge on. Only accept cash. Should be a take away not a restaurant

Always good quality, tasty food

May as well have deep fried a garlic clove than eat the spring rolls. Everything else lacked any flavour whatsoever. I was subsequently very unwell! Won’t be eating here again or recommending to anyone!

I admit there some standards menu that are just it, standard. But you must try their speciality like beef XO, cummin lamb. You'll be addicted to it.

We have just had a take away from xing long and it was disgusting,dried horrible duck for pancakes, smelly chicken fried rice( to the point I didn’t want to risk eating it as it had a weird smell) and old chips that were 100% not fresh, we threw most if it away. When we rang them they argued it was fresh even though it was definitely not as we have had lots of takeaways from them before. They said that they would collect what we had left, when the man arrived he proceeded to dump the leftover take away on our doorstep and shouted at us, we said we had scraped it in to the bag as it was on our plates and he shouted again and then dumped the bag and walked off shouting. Horrible experience and horrible food AVOID! I wouldn’t even give it 1 star if I could.

Just ordered from here and it's the best Chinese I've had. The portions are massively generous too. I overordered not expecting the quantity I got. The quality is also amazing. Decent delivery time and staff seem very friendly. Highly reccommended.

Estábamos ansiosos por esta visita con la esperanza de que fuera menos caótica que la última vez. No fue así y esta vez la comida también era buena y pobre. Había dos camareros manejando una combinación improbable de pánico y desinterés total. Casi tuvimos que obligar a alguien a tomar nuestro pedido. El pato era un plato de piel quemada con muy poca carne de pato. El pollo al limón estaba empapado y los fideos de Singapur tan especiados que borraron todo lo demás en el plato. Las gambas chisporroteantes eran buenas siempre que las separaras de los fideos. Nuestro mesero no ayudó a nuestra visita y dedicó demasiado tiempo a hacer pedidos telefónicos. No pensaré en la tercera vez que tengo suerte.

Finalmente visitamos este restaurante después de pasar muchas veces. Estaba claramente falto de personal; la camarera soltera (extremadamente agradable) estaba tratando de servir todas las mesas por su cuenta y atender muchas llamadas para llevar, lo que claramente estaba causando molestias a algunos clientes. Sin embargo, los sabores en la comida eran fantásticos, así que felizmente volveremos y esperamos que las cosas sean un poco menos caóticas. Absolutely incredible food. The best Chinese food we have tasted in Bristol (I have lived here for nearly 10 years). I never leave reviews but the flavours we experienced tonight were incredible. We tried to leave a tip to show our gratitude but we were chased out of the door demanding we took our money back! Cannot wait to come back. Thank you ❤️

There's something charming about Xing Long. It's unpretentious inside, the staff are friendly, the menu is interesting and the food is very good. The takeaway menu isn't as comprehensive as the resteraunt menu but is still has some things you don't normally see. More importantly though the food is always well done, and generally less salty, sweet and synthetic tasting than most Chinese places.

Chilli beef on point! Fried rice devine! Though i was getting shrimp , i got king prawns in my fried rice! To tastey! Im coming back soon

30 years ago and this was the best Chinese restaurant in Bristol, now it serves cheap low grade takeaway food, poor quality, how can I place go so far down, sort your selves out, and be more genuine when you serve people.

This is the first Chinese takeway we've had since recently moving to the area. We ordered a set menu and the starters were ok, main dishes were far too salty and we left most of it as was inedible. Really disappointed and a shame as we like Chinese food and unlikely to go back to Xing Long after this experience.
