The area I live in has several Wyevale garden centres and the are all much of a muchness . Good choice of gifts , plants and garden furniture etc but needs bringing up to date in the cafe . It is bright and airy but feels like a time warp . Slow and impersonal service and typical 1980 's menu . Other garden centres have become gastro hubs .

Having travelled from the Medway towns to come here and enjoy a fathers treat from my boys, I was most upset to learn that because they were short staffed in the kitchen, they were not willing or able to provide us with a meal requiring cooking. Not so much as an apology, just a shrug of the shoulders when I complained. Very disappointed and will not be returning any time soon. Elm court for me going forward, never been let down their before.

Easy access up ramp into Restaurant (except difficulty getting through the double doors with a wheelchair!) Staff are always friendly and smiling and seem to enjoy their jobs. Always pop in here for a quick lunch or afternoon tea. Menu is varied and freshly made to order. Worth a visit even if you arent in the market for any plants or garden accessories!

Slow service in cafe. Poor quality. Not family friendly considering they have a soft play and toy shop. Soft play is dirty and full of dirty dishes never cleaned away. Staff member told my one year old for touching a toy in the toy shop. No touching unless buying. Will not return.

Called in to look round the garden centre and to have morning coffee. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy but there was a queue to order which moved extremely slowly. The items we ordered Took a long time to come to come to our table. Tables were not being cleared quickly of the dirty crockery. Perhaps they were short of staff but experience did not impress me.

This time of year, it is sometimes difficult to stop on the road for lunch when we have our dogs in the car. Many places don't have parking spaces with any shade and if the sun is out the car can heat up very quickly to a dangerous temperature. We were very pleased then recently to find that "Wyevale" have ample spaces under a row of trees which protect the car from direct sunlight. Although it was warm today, we felt comfortable leaving the dogs whilst we went inside for lunch. The restaurant was cool as there was air conditioning blasting out cold air. In fact, we had to move out of a cold draught. The menu seemed on the expensive side though there is a good offer for over-60s who want a full meal and cheaper options for children. Our paninis were more than I would want to pay, considering that this is after all only a garden centre cafe. We also had to wait a long time for them seeing that the place was nearly empty. It is a large seating area and one wonders how they would cope if it was busy. However, when the food arrived, it was well presented and very tasty. Clearly, each meal is prepared fresh to order. The salad and accompanying coleslaw were ample. But the best part was knowing the dogs were alright in the shade under the trees.

Having seen all the previous reviews we were looking forward to visiting the garden centre. We could not have been more wrong. The food advertised on the tables (specials) were not available, then having queued for 30 minutes only to find several item from the normal menu also was not available. The person serving appeared clueless as to what food was available. Having been given a number to display on table to help with identification our food did arrive very quickly , however two people in our group waited 20 minutes before going back up to the check out only to find their food waiting to be taken to the table and getting cold. Then onto the deserts - some items not available. Will definitely not be hurrying back.

The soup was tasty and hot and came with a choice of ciabatta roll, gluten free bread or a cheese scone (although they had run out of the latter). Service was good and staff were pleasant. The Restaurant seemed clean and tidy. The afternoon tea is for two and reasonably priced. The sandwiches were okay although were possibly made a while before we arrived so didn't seem overly fresh and only two fillings. The biggest disappointment was that the cakes were cut in half for us to share, so one slice was plain sponge while the other had the jam and cream on. Possibly might return to see if menu changes in summer.

Afternoon tea was brought to table 1 stand which was obviously not enough for 4 people so I asked for another taking my receipt cashier had only put through 2 people another one was brought out to us quickly. Drinks were refillable as part of afternoon tea and we had another 3 pots tea so what the problem was with tea I have no idea. Sandwiches were chesse&cucumber and ham & tomato , 1 plain scone and 2 small cakes each. Groupon price was a bargain but I would not have paid full price for this. What spoils the afternoon was how cold the restaurant was and the toilets were freezing , really do need to get some heating in these areas

Went to Wyevale to have a look around and decided to have some lunch...........when we entered the cafe it had about 10 people in front. I went off to find a table and sit down.Well I waited & waited and eventually Hubby came back with 2 coffees and said he had ordered 2 fish finger sandwiches and portion of chips. The coffee was really hot and very nice, shame I can't say the same about the food when it did eventually arrive. The waitress was very apologetic about the wait. The sandwich was actually the hardest toasted rolls ever, the fish fingers were dry and not very nice at all. The chips were ok!!!!!!Got talking to couple on next table and they had had the same problem with their wait and fish and chips, parting comment was 'it really wasn't worth waiting for, very dry and tasteless'Hubby said there was only 2 staff working on the counter and they seemed to be all over the place, no system for people wanting to order food or those just wanting a coffee. Plus all the vouchers etc. No end of tables waiting to be cleared. My husband has said never again, don't even suggest we go there again.Come on Wyevale, all these people wanting work and we paid a few pence short of £20 for something which was terrible. You have competition with Notcutts and 3 extremely good pubs within walking distance. You need to get yourselves sorted because the facilities and shopping are great.

After a look around the Wyevale garden centre we decided to go to the Wyevale restaurant for coffee. With 10 to 12 people in the queue I thought it would not take too long for the staff to serve everyone in front until I realised that there were only two staff members on the servery, (should have been four) one taking the orders and money, the other preparing and placing the beverages on the customers tray. On joining the queue very shortly another 10 to 12 plus joined behind me. This review does not reflect on the hard working staff who clearly were doing their very best given there were only two and working extremely hard. (I would not like to work for this company if I were treated like this.) In my mind there are two types of management and I know them well, having worked in retail and catering. The first, is the type who can recognise when their staff are struggling to deliver a good quality and timely service and who will always step in and help out their overstretched staff to deliver a good service to the customer when needed. The other type of management is the type that wilfully choose's not to help out, the type who have no mind to care for the staff and as a consequence not concerned about the customers they are struggling to serve. Queuing for around 15min plus just to order and pay and then a further wait for 4 hot drinks.. Says it all...

My husband and I visited the cafe with a Groupon voucher for afternoon tea . We have had several afternoon teas so knew roughly what to expect, though we'd not been in Wyvale before. The coffee was good. Hot and strong. We weren't given any plates with our food.Starting from the bottom tier:There were 6 finger sandwiches, I assumed there'd be 3 different fillings so we'd each have 3 different sandwiches. In fact there was only cheese with cucumber and ham with tomato. Both had obviously been kept in the fridge for some time as they were soggy, bordering on wet. Next layer, scones with jam and cream. Both were plain, one was of average size, the other was tiny. Both were very hard and actually couldn't cut the small one at all so we shared one between us. The cream and jam made it bearable. And the top plate, 4 different, obviously frozen macaroons. 4 fun sized, obviously frozen cream slices. No fruit. All soggy.I debated complaining to the staff but decided to leave it as they were all a bit rushed and grumpy. For what I paid for the voucher on Groupon we had 2 good cups of coffee. Everything else was disappointing and we won't return. The idea of companies selling deals on Groupon is to promote their business but unfortunately this time they failed.

Came here for lunch on Saturday. There didn't seem to be too many people in the queue but it took around 15 minutes before we got to the counter. There was two serving, one taking orders and payment, the other was doing drinks. There seemed a lot of comments between staff and the kitchen about missing orders or order tickets not been sent thru and confusion at the till. We ordered two burgers and pots of tea and went and sat at a table. Two people on the next table asked a waiter where their food was as they had been waiting quite a while....the order had not gone thru to the kitchen! Our food arrived in reasonable time. The burger came with a small piece of gem lettuce and a slice of tomato in a burnt bun....we had to scrape the burnt bits off beforecwe could eat it. The burger was very nice just needs a little refinement on presentation. Chips and relish was good.Something needs to be done regarding the system they use to get drinks and order...the service is just too slow. We like to go over to Wyvales's to visit the garden centre and the shops. So we sometimes have lunch in the restaurant. However, after our last visit, we decided that we will give up on eating there. We have NEVER had lunch there without some problem cropping up with the food. The food ordering area is a jumble despite a recent refurb and the staff always seem to get stressed out when it is busy. This gives a poor atmosphere and does not inspire confidence in the diners that they can cope. Most of the staff are pleasant enough and seem to work very hard but there is something missing from this restaurant. My opinion is such that I would not recommend eating a meal there. It is probably OK for afternoon tea and scones but that's about it as far as we are concerned.

Although a good deal, this wouldn't have been so amazing if it weren't for the quality of both the food and the service. The staff were really charming, helpful, polite and welcoming. The meal is delivered to your table, one course at a time, unlike where you have to take, on a tray, pudding at the same time as your main course! I had battered fish and chips which was obviously freshly cooked, crisp, piping hot and beautifully served along with a little pot of mushy peas. For dessert I had a spiced apple crumble which was superb, though the little pot of accompanying custard was rather small.

Went to Wyevale Woodbridge for Sunday lunch.Previously we have had a great experience of the restaurant albeit we had coffee and cakes not a cooked meal.On our latest visit we went for the cooked option. My partner had the mushroom risotto and I had fish and chips. Let's cut to the chase the Risotto was quite frankly inedible, my partner started leaving mushrooms to one side. I decided to sample some of the mushrooms ( I'm ex forces so can eat most things!) And they were extremely chewy, bereft of flavour and stringy! I've eaten better meals from a 24hrs ration pack. Too be fair the restaurant manager refunded the cost of the meal but the restaurant should not be serving this up, it was AWFUL!!! The rest of the meal was okay, if you are expecting a large portion of fish and chips think again, the fish had clearly been on a diet! The restaurant itself looks great, just a pity the food lets it down. DO NOT ORDER THE MUSHROOM RISOTTO!!!!

Starting with good point the food, one chicken cesaer salad and one pie was hot and tasty and quickly served after ordering. Service was poor to terrible. One till manned at Saturday lunch time. Ridiculous. Orders then are hand written after receipt printed and the one lady on the till walks the order to the kitchen?? Whilst in the queue for 15 minutes I watched 2 fish and chips waiting on the counter to be taken to the customer. My order did arrive quickly but it was wrong. 2 staff clearing tables continually but not one was wiped. On leaving I passed several clear tables showing food debris or gravy on them ready for the next customer.

Went up to place an order at the tills and the women was very polite despite the confusion me and my girlfriend made when ordering as changed it a couple of ties. Only downside was she looked at the cutlery tray and said you can get your knifes and forks from here even though there was none in there. Then sat down and brought over some glasses for our drinks which still had bits of food in one of the glasses and bits of salts all inside the glass, clearly hadn't been dried or polished after being cleaned. The food was a good size but the plate it was served on was too small for the size of the food. Overall I would not go here for the price and cleanliness.

Garden centre very nice but the restaurant extremely poor since recent changes.Extremely expensive for poor quality food. Dirty cutlery, looking like it had just been used rather than just washed and rude staff when this was pointed out. (although the entire tray was then taken away to be rewashed! Manager who didn't appear to care less when spoken to about problems other than to say I've only been here a couple of months and we have had problems! Having used this location for many years on our regular travels back and forth to East Anglia we will certainly not be returning. There are other far better (and less expensive!) places to eat en route on the A12. Sadly for them they will now miss out on our garden purchases made at the same time!

I have used this garden centre many times over the years, recently it has had a makeover. The seating area is very nice however, the service is lacking due to the fact that there are now only 2 tills and quite often only one of those is in use. On this occasion we went for afternoon tea at 1 in the afternoon , on trying to order we were informed that it is not served between 12 and 2. Nowhere was this restriction advertised. When this was pointed out we were rudely informed that it's still not served until 2 onwards. We will not be using this restaurants again on a hurry

We were so looking forward to our first visit. On arrival to the Botanic Kitchen we were very confused on how to order, whether it was self service or waiter/ess service. We asked a friendly lady member of staff and was told it was self service pay at the counter. My husband ordered a ham and cheese toastie and I had a fruit scone. They where both bland and tasteless. The fruit scone was rock hard and the toastie was the thinnest bread we have ever seen, the ham wafer thin and the cheese tasteless. We also had a pot of tea for one and a black Americano. They were also of poor quality. We paid £11 for all these items and we must confess we would rather have given the money to charity and gone without. Obviously this is just our personal opinion, but we can assure you we will never visit this establishment again.

My husband and I were really looking forward to having our breakfast in the new restaurant of the garden centre. Having been there a weak before with a friend for a coffee, I couldn't have praised the place enough. So when he finally agreed to have our breakfast out, I was very much looking forward to it.The staff at the counter, although very pleasant and polite, didn't know the difference between the breakfasts they offer. So the breakfasts I ordered were actually disappointing when they arrived. Not only thing that were apparently meant to be on the plate weren't there, but also the preparation of the breakfast was terrible! Quality of the products was lovely: nice proper sausages, lovely farm bread and so on, HOWEVER the plate was full of grease!!! The fried bread must've been deep fried and quite frankly inedible, toast (brought to the table later on by a very nice lady) was burnt, beand, which I don't mind that much!, were heated in the microwave in the dish they were going to be served in, eggs, again, full of grease... So overall feeling, was that o disappointment :( rather than excitement of having a nice breakfast out (which we hadn't had for ages!) We most likely come back because of the children's soft play area and will have a cup of tea.

Was tempted to try the revamped café after getting a voucher offer in the local newspaper. We were impressed with the well organised friendly service, the pleasant meal and the good price. We had the fish and chips which were just the right portion size for a light lunch. We were impressed with the very light tasty batter - which can often be a disaster. And the seating area outdoors is very pleasant.Wyevale is always busy but the new shop concessions are far better than the old ones and I would definitely go again.

Mum and I often visit this shopping complex as she likes Cotton Traders and Edinburgh Wool Mill shops and we like a mosey around Wyvale and a coffee. The new decor was a surprise and the atmosphere was pleasant. The staff were clearly new to the barista duties and the coffee on the strong side for my liking but the service was good. I'm not going to score a 5 star rating until we've eaten there but we will definitely be doing that as we will continue to frequent this venue.

This was a spur of the moment thing to visit the restaurant but we were not dissapointed. The set up was fast and easy to order. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was well priced and of good quality. They have a new high tech system of placing your "pager" on the table so the staff knows where to take the foood.Well done, and we will be back.

s always i love this garden centre, my recent visit, i bought some things but in my haste i left the trellis behind and 2 thing on the counter. when i went back a little later they greeted me with friendly smile and had put them to one side for me and took them to my car, i felt very embarrased but after speaking to them i felt fine. the Restaurant was closed for building work so i cant comment on them. but i go for the garden centre which never fail me.

Having been told by a couple we know that this venue was good for lunch we decided to try it, but were very disappointed. Husband's steak and mushroom pie was not very good and my ham, egg and chips was poor: the eggs were swimming in grease, which was reluctant to be absorbed into the two serviettes I used to ry and soak it up, the 'hand carved Suffolk ham' was very fatty and very little of it. In these parts we have many outlets offering this dish with hand carved good Suffolk ham, this unfortunatley was not one of them. Perhaps we called on a bad day? Staff pleasant and helpful.

Wyvale supplies every thing you need in the garden & during the weeks approaching Christmas has a good supply of decorations & items to decorate your home & garden & all under one roof. The garden centre staff are friendly & helpful & just outside there are a few other retail shops selling different items of clothing.Unfortunately the café was busy when we visited & the cafe staff seemed stressed, not very cheerful & couldn't wait to serve the next customer.I've given a "very good" for service in the garden centre only & not the café, which deserves a poor / terrible rating.

wyvales covers just about every thing you should need in the garden, it has the bonus of the fish area and outside pond area, and also plenty of gift ideas to in can be quiet expensive but it is all under one roof, they go to town at christmas time my six year old loves coming to see all the decs and lights and there is normally thing to find, and then you can relax in the cafe i have to say tho on the down side the few times i have been served in the cafe the staff did not come across very plesant there were no smiles and we were happy to hurry up and pay and sit down. but other than that i love going to wyvales, my partner on the other hand hates it cause he knows i cant walk out with out spending a few pound .

We attended the Garden Centre and stopped for a lunchtime meal at their restaurant. The meal choice only had 4 main dishes, however lots of desserts.I choose fish and chips. The fish (Haddock) was a little on the small side, and by the time we queued to make payment the chips were getting cold before starting to eat.The area was clean and tidy, with the waitresses being polite and helpfull. The Company runs a point scheme based on your purchases around the Garden Centre, and periodically give vouchers which can be used towards the cost of a meal.If I did not have the meal vouchers, I am not sure I would have stopped for a meal.Overall acceptable, but have had better meals at other Garden Centres.

Delicious Sunday lunch, piping hot, perfect Yorkshire puddings and lovely fresh veg. Attentive, polite young staff. Best thing of all no loud intrusive “background” music that makes it impossible to have a conversation with your fellow diners. Will definitely be back. Thank you.

A proper pub, good friendly service , well kept beers with an ever changing guest ale, no food just good conversation in a pleasant environment. If you long for a traditional well run pub serving good ale the Old Mariners is for you.

Tried to arrange our engagement party here and is the worst communication and service from the event organiser I have ever received. Constantly ignored even when it got to the point of going into the sea you to speak to the lady who organises. Had to keep chasing for responses and in the end was just ignored and never got back to. Is a real shame as we really liked the cafe there but will not be returning after the way we were treated.
