What an amazing place. Based in this old grand building, the food and drinks here are fantastic. With the staff's hospitality levels being equally as superb. I couldn't have been more looked after by the team. Highly recommend! 😁

My daughter had her wedding here recently and it was a fantastic day. The staff are so friendly and very good at weddings. The food was to die for -sharing board for starter, galloway beef, dauphonise potatoes and veg for main course with apple crumble and custard for sweet - fantastic. The building is so good for a celebration and it's in a great location. The beers were really nice even though a touch on the expensive side - they are brewed on site. Highly recommend this building and set up for a wedding - truly memorable. Thanks for a great day and memories.

Nice venue, but due to a wedding which seems more common than not, you are forced go sit outside, use portaloos and generally treated like a 2nd class citizen. Worst is the attitude of staff, who never listened to the orders. On two separate occasions I ordered a half pint, both times they just poured a pint... not sure this is so sensible when the beer you are serving is like 8%+. Just no attention to detail and not customer centric.

Outstanding Sunday roast. Genuinely one of the best I’ve had in a restaurant. The beef was really well cooked, the veg tasted amazing and the Yorkshire was good (and huge). Staff were really friendly and attentive, and there was a great selection of beer available. The space is open and comfortable. Everything was clean / well kept. Can’t fault it!

Took my eldest son visiting from Hong Kong last Sunday 2 June 2024. He said it was the best Sunday roast he’d had and rated it better than the ones he has had in the Chinnery at the Mandarin, HK. For those who don’t know the Mandarin, that is high praise indeed. Best.

Sadly missed the mark, not really a review I want to be writing but there was a lot that didn't meet expectations here. This seems like it could be a great location, and perhaps sometimes it is. As someone who is a fan of Wylam beers and was hoping to try a variety at their tap it was disappointing. When we visited there was a 'mexican stand off' event on with a variety of food trucks and a token system for purchasing from them, which was a bit of a faff with long waits. The main room was set up with long tables, but the music was so loud it was unbearable to be in there and impossible to hear anyone else, very few people were in the room. I feel sorry for the staff on the bars in there! The hall at the front had a few sofas but again the music was still too loud in there. What looks like it would usually be the main bar was much the same but with an added off smell. There were only 4 beers on tap at the bars that I could find and were selling beer in plastic cups with one IPA being £7 for a pint, which for a beer that hasn't had anyone else adding costs/profits direct from a brewery up north seems mad. I like my silly craft beers but that's too silly! Having met some of the brewers in the past this feels totally disconnected.

Used to love it here over the years but the prices are just silly now. £7 a pint of their house lager which is bang average. £12 for a disappointing burger and £5 for plain fries, taking the p**s a little now. Shame really, I wont rush back.

Expensive pint served in a plastic cup. I thought the idea of a brewery tap was to sell cheaper beer without transportation costs. £8 a pint seems excessive.

At Wylam brewery - great beer and venue - Zutons are the best wedding band one could hope for - granny taps her foot, plenty of teacher dancing and the young 'ns can look hip. But tonight they surprised me, thrashing guitars and eclectic sax with an assortment of anthems! verdict - the VERY best wedding band!

Wylam Wacky Warehouse… Don’t go on a Sunday afternoon if you’re expecting an adult drink at a brewery tap room sort of place. That’s what we were hoping for after a long walk but we opened the doors to a wall of noise, full of families and children running round. Could have been forgiven for thinking it was actually a Wacky Warehouse. No room for people who just want a drink (as it said on website) unless you like sitting outside in the cold. It seems like they’ve sold out to cash in on the Sunday lunch market that you can get everywhere else. Business is business I guess but I’ll not bother giving it a second chance.

Generally a good night in the beer garden, until after spending an evening there and taking our groups money all evening "the manager" decided at 11.05pm to not let me and wife use the toilet before our long walk down their drive. However they had some private function on with the guests vomiting and sprawled all over the front steps which was acceptable it seems........maybe it is all about the money Wylam!?.........not a great lasting memory guys, your hospitality needs more work.

Went to see Transatlantic Bowie January 2024, which was great. Wylam is a great venue just for going for a drink and/or seeing a band. They offer a limited menu of various burgers (one is vegan and others are animal meat) and various options for chips at £6. The £9 Robert Plant vegan burger was very tasty. I don't know about drink options because I was driving. The venue is in Exhibition Park and I parked in Claremont Road car park and walked about 10 minutes through the park (which is dark and I found a bit scary). Also went to see Transatlantic Fleetwood Mac in December 2023 who were absolutely amazing, the place was absolutely chocka and a great atmosphere for their 3 night sell out gig. They have a cloakroom and it's £1 per item.

Went for a much looked forward to Sunday roast dinner having previously seen them while in for a drink. Been lots of times before for beer. Roast dinner was not nearly as big as an £18 roast dinner ought to be despite being served on an enormous plate. I had two slices of lamb (menu as lamb shoulder), overcooked, a bit dry and about 4mm thick. 2 roast potatoes (most egregious), one miserly parsnip. A cough of cabbage and a dollop of mash. Any other veg was extra. The gigantic and very good Yorkshire was doing some heavy lifting on this plate. Service not great, slow and didn’t check that the food was OK. Will be back for beer but not for dinner.

Really attractive venue with possibly the friendliest bouncers I have met at any gig. Big downsides for me would be the chaos trying to get a drink. Service is painfully slow and noone seems to get the concept of a queuing properly. Some of the best tribute bands play this venue ie Transatlantic in their various guises. Sadly just as the audience are getting into the music there is always a half hour break which is presumably to get the now bored audience to pass the time buying more beer. This interuption certainly spoils my enjoyment of the music every time and is really irritating to the audience. So much so me and the wife left at the break last night for Rumours. Band were great but like a few others we couldnt be arsed with an unnecessary break. There really is no need for the band to have a half hour break after playing only 30 or 40 minutes! Really interrupts the flow and enjoyment and will certainly put me off booking again which is sad because Transatlantic are great on stage.

Went for Sunday dinner. Canny busy. Had a table booked for 7 people. Looked like you should wait at a little desk with a laptop on at the entrance, but no sign to say that. I waited there for a while. No-one came. Went inside, wandered round but felt very in the way so went back to entrance. Saw one of the group by the bar so joined them. They had been told the table wasn't ready yet so to hang around. We felt in the way. Staff were passively aggressively suggesting we were in the way by basically walking into us, and at one point putting a barrier up by us but without saying anything. No suggestion as to where we could wait out the way. Drinks were expensive. Pork and beef were very good. Avoid the lamb. Yorkshires were tasty but greasy. Roast potatoes were sub par. Not worth the money. Staff attitude was a massive letdown. Wouldn't go back. Wouldn't recommend. Better value places in the area.

First time I've ever been here, and it was for a sold out Gary Numan acoustic / unplugged gig. Was a bit wary getting there, 19 minute walk from my hotel, BUT, actually turned out to be a really easy and straightforward walk, heading through a park up to the venue. The venue itself was really nice, going through the entrance straight in to a bar area, with bar and merch available. Fairly quickly the security people opened up the venue hall where the gig was going to happen. Capacity of 800 people, and this hall also had 2 bars, selling their own brews. The lager was really nice, though a tad pricey at £6.50 a pint. So, great venue, great bars - all that was left was, was the sound and vision great? Well, yes it was! Uninterrupted views and really good sound. All round, great venue. Nice little touch was the purple lights illuminating the walk through the dark park afterwards...

Been twice now for the food vendors, Friday is definitely better to visit than a Saturday, venue is far too small for the amount of people they let in and becomes over crowded quickly. Music by the 'DJ' on the stage is terrible, needs a live band instead. Alcohol prices are a tad steep at around £5/6 for a pint and the wait time at the bar can get up to an hour. Definitely recommend getting there early. Ladies toilets could be maintained throughout the day better as well, found no loo roll in a few toilets and no locks on some doors. Actual food vendors are really good and super friendly and a good way to sample.

We decided to visit this place after a trip into Newcastle one Sunday afternoon. Parked at Claremont Road and walked over as it was a nice afternoon, though there is a car park on site. The exhibition park was quiet so we naively thoughts the pub would be quiet too. Oh dear. On entry it was like a school dinner hall. Large shared tables bursting at the seams and teaming with kids, running wild and mostly being ignored by their parents sipping cold tap. We were approached by a harassed looking staff member who was friendly, said if we hadn’t booked there was no chance of a table for food. On explaining we would just have a drink then, he said the only seating was outside and pointed to the exit to the outside seating and dashed off. Stood in the bar queue for 15 minutes as they were busy doing trays of table orders. Bought a soft drink and a pint of beer - £9. The noise was deafening and the atmosphere can only be described as kindergarten. We took our drinks outside which was much quieter but we’re dismayed to find an empty bar outside, where if we had been told, we would have got our drinks from. There was no queue there! Large outside space and got a table no problem. Ambient music. Only drawback here was customers didn’t have their dogs on leads and I ended up with muddy paw prints on my jacket from an excitable cockerpoo. Summary - avoid Sunday afternoons unless you want to sit near Tarquin and Teresa cooing over baby Thatcher whilst their other 6 woke kids run riot. Pick an evening or preferably one of the live events my mates go to that are meant to be epic. Amazing choice of beers on tap but sadly can’t comment on food. Outdoor loos were reasonably clean portaloos. Would we go back? Yes for the choice of beers and outsude on a summer night with the fairy lights, it’ll be lovely. But never again on a Sunday.

The pork belly with crackling was gorgeous, served with mashed swede, perfectly cooked cabbage, a huge parsnip, roasties and a massive Yorkshire pudding. Delicious! We also ordered a side cauliflower cheese which was incredibly gooey and cheesy and tasted amazing. The food came out super quick as well, we got it within 5-10 mins of ordering which was unexpected but very well received! On top of it all, the beer was delicious. We visited today (Sunday) and it was more like a restaurant serving Sunday Roasts than a tap room. No real space for people just wanting to drink the beer - we squashed in at the bar. The William IV on High street is a local pub in Gateshead that offer a decent range of beers and was one of several pubs that we visited on a day out around Gateshead. A solid old style boozer that is housed in a traditional pub style building'the interior is again a traditional pub interior with lots of good seating options and an outside area at the back with extra seating options. I don't know why but I adore going to pubs like this as it brings me back to when I first started drinking many years ago and most of the pubs I visited where like this. This pub was very busy when we visited as where most pubs we went to in Gateshead and when here we had a couple of bitters from the John Smith's brewery which were well served and priced. This is another superb local boozer and is well worth visiting as the staff were friendly and they offer a well priced range of beers and is very easy to locate from High Street bus stop it's a minute's walk.(This is my first review of the William IV). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-10.00-23.30. Friday-Saturday-10.00-00.30. Sunday-10.00-23.30. Nearest Bus Stop. High Street bus stop.

I recently visited Côte and had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious English breakfast. The food was perfectly prepared, with each element cooked to perfection, from the crispy bacon to the creamy scrambled eggs. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet vibrant ambiance that made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the overall charm of the place. Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast or a spot to relax and soak in a great vibe, Côte is an excellent choice. Highly recommend!
