Perfect food and great service! Atmosphere- it was during the week and afternoon so wasn't expecting an amazing atmosphere however the background music is fine and suitable

I recently dined at AKBAR’s Curry in Newcastle, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! We started with chicken tikkas, chicken dynamite, and samosa chaat, all of which were absolutely delicious. For the main course, we enjoyed chicken handi, palak paneer, and naan, and everything was authentic and flavorful. The ambience of the restaurant was great, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. After a long search, we finally found a place serving authentic Asian (Indian) food that is truly worth the money. The service was exceptional, with a particularly attentive and polite waiter named Zaryan, who made our dining experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend AKBAR’s Curry for anyone looking for a fantastic meal!

Akbars combines the very best service with exceptional food in a great atmosphere. We often find Asian family groups enjoying special occasions so it’s cuisine thoroughly endorsed by those who know! The super size naans are a speciality & so so yummy!

It was our first time trying Akbar’s and it did not disappoint. The food was unbelievingly good and delicious but what made the experience even better was the service. Our waiter zaryan was extremely helpful and knowledgeable with the menu and he explained everything about the menu with detail. The food arrived quickly and it was fresh. The attention to detail and customer service was 100/10. You can’t get better customer service any where else ! The butter chicken and lamb charsi were delicious and a family favourite. I definitely recommend everyone trying Akbar’s. I can’t wait to visit again to try more of their delicious dishes !

Cheesy lamb kebab smelt and was also uncooked. the masala fish is a very watery jelly looking fish not nice at all! Only saviour was the main course…

Food was top notch as always! The onion bhajis were flat though and lacked flavour. I was asked a fair few times by ZARYAN, to leave a review so il be honest. I did say he needs alot more training. When i asked him about the menu i felt he had very little knowledge about the dishes. He brought us the bill before our desserts without asking if we wanted dessert. Unfortunately his personal hygiene was bad, i had to hold my breath each time he came over … im very sorry.

Probably the worst curry I’ve had for a while. The service was excellent though, so that’s worth a mention. We ordered mushroom and paneer balti (which was the only half decent dish), dhal makhani, and a paneer korma. The dhal and korma were shockingly bad, a korma should be sweet but this was off the scale. Sickly, far too sweet, no real flavour, and nothing in it apart from blocks of paneer, no veg, nothing. The dhal makhani at My Delhi in town is fantastic, that’s my benchmark, this was nothing close. It was a sweet vile soup, nothing close to a good dhal dish. It was sweet, but over the top sweet. Very strange, I cannot believe how unpleasant it was, I’m just glad I ordered the side version and not the main. The peshwari naan was ok but had big chunks of sugar on one side and nothing through most of it, I’m probably being over critical as I’m still annoyed about how bad the meal was. The pilau rice was like nothing I’ve had before, not in a good way. I’ve had a lot of curries over the years, and I’ve never seen pilau like that. I can’t recommend this place, it was rubbish.

Literally the King of curry!! Never had food that tasted this good, no where else comes close. Ali our server was top class, very attentive, polite and friendly. Highly recommend the Charsi dishes (chicken is my favourite with medium spice) and the meat chops are stunning!! Thank you - as always

The napkins say ‘King of Curry’ and they are not wrong!!! By far, the best Indian food I have ever tasted. My wife and I have been to the ones in Newcastle, Manchester, York and Leeds and the food and service is always faultless! Ali at the Newcastle restaurant was fantastic, he could not have done more for us. Would absolutely recommend.

Been a regular at Akbar for over a year now and have not had a bad experience, after today I’m not sure if or when I’ll be back the atmosphere was off the staff seemed preoccupied, ,service a lot slower for us than usual but other tables seemed to get preference ,and it pains me to say that the food wasn’t up to the usual standard

Awesome tasty food, great service by the attentive Ali only slight problem was the screaming children on a big table but that’s obviously not the restaurants fault. They left after 20 mins so no harm. The cider bottles could be chilled though :)

We came to Akbars after a long time and really enjoyed our dining experience. The tadka daal was delicious. The service was exceptional and we had a great waiter named Zaryan who was very attentive for the full evening.
