Sadly we won't return and only visited this time because a family member assured us they'd upped their game. The restaurant offered very few cakes and we're uninspiring in their display. My husband picked up a tray and upon arriving at the till the waitress asked what he wanted. He asked for two scones and she simply said 'tray'. He was unsure what she meant so showed he had picked up a tray. She held her hands out across the counter to which he guessed she meant for him to hand it to her. She made no effort to stretch herself indicating he needed to lean further over towards her. She then rested the tray on the staff side and paid out scones and drinks, then handing it back to my husband. She was rude and unhelpful. It would make more sense to have the trays on the staff side of the counter! The tables in the restaurant were festooned with dirty cutlery and customers were clearing spaces to eat themselves. The chairs, conservatory style, could do with a deep clean. I guess as it's the only garden centre in the area they don't feel it necessary to try very hard. We won't go back.

This place is to be avoided. Very slow service and overpriced food. If you enjoy listening to screaming children then you will like this place as there is a soft play area. It’s very sad because it used to be a nice cafe.

Had an amazing cream tea. Phoned to book before as advised on the website. Table was reserved in a corner overlooking the garden. Comfortable chairs. Fully aware of our booking and very attentive. Fresh sandwiches, cakes and scones which should be expected but not always the case at hotels/restaurants where I have had a cream tea before. Free top up and a great selection. Thought they had under charged as I had previously looked on the Doddies website rather than the Whyvale.

We have been fairly regular visitors over the years and it used to be a well run clean restaurant with good staff. But oh dear...we are here today mid afternoon tables not cleared or cleaned and it looks tatty. Shame it used to be so nice.

Thankyou Wyevale Garden Centre for a lovely morning spent having breakfast with Santa. From the moment we arrived we felt well looked after & Santa’s Elves were sweet with my 2 grandsons & it was all incredibly well organised. The breakfast arrived promptly & was delicious & the two little boys loved the soft play area. There was a biscuit for each of the children to decorate with squeeze icing tubes provided & Santa came round & spoke to every child. To finish the morning off each child received a present from Santa in his grotto. The boys enjoyed every minute of it & so did Granny!

Booked here for an informal Christmas lunch for four, as one of our family members was off to work in Korea the following week and so would miss this year's Christmas festivities. We arrived early to find that the table we had reserved was already prepared and we were offered very welcome teas and coffees while we waited. Our order was not the easiest to accommodate since one of our party is vegan and another is gluten intolerant. The staff very patiently exlained the choices from the menu that would be appropriate and so aided our selection. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, and very tasty. As for value for money, I have in the past paid almost twice as much for a Christmas lunch in pub restaurants and which were nowhere near this quality - Our thanks to all the restaurant staff at Wyevale who are doing a brilliant job!

Stopped here for cup of tea about 2.15 on Sunday 21 October. Ladies toilet cubicle overflowing but no out of order sign. Went in cafe and greeted by sign saying that " to enhance my experience some hot foods unavailable today". This set the tone. Couple of people in front of me and it was soon apparent that people behind were asking for refunds as food had not turned up for over 30 minutes. They were told to go to front of garden centre but they pointed out they did not have receipts showing order. Staff member clearly disinterested. Another staff member took my order for 2 pots of tea totalling £4. After a while she eventually took my £10 note and gave me £5.10 change. I pointed out error and after a huge sigh she gave me correct change. Sat down and spotted used trays trolley completely full and parked over fire exit. Young girl collecting trays from table but ignored the trolley. Found a long grey hair in my tea clearly from person who served me.

We came here in the summer, had the macaroni cheese which was a disgusting gloop, inedible. Could have been a bad day so tried again today - cheese & caramelized onion chutney toastie. First the bill was wrong, we'd been overcharged although they remedied that ok. The toastie was toasted to the point of being burnt on one side, untoasted on the other. There was no caramelized onion chutney, just chunks of raw onion. Very disappointing. My advice - shop here (it's expensive though), then have a much better quality lunch in one of the nearby country pubs.

The food in the cafe is good with a reasonable variety, curry choice is usually good. Plenty of seating and a small soft play area for a small charge. But the service is terrible. Almost half an hour for food order to be taken, there must be a better system than this. God help them when it is busy.

I was taken to the Wyevale Garden Centre in Lewes East Sussex for a lunch. It was a Thursday and they do special deals for over 60s. A dinner, dessert and coffee or tea for £9.50. Which we thought was a good deal. I ordered the chicken and vegetables pie with mash and fresh vegetables. My friend had shepherds pie and fresh vegetables. When they arrived they really lovely and hot, mine had fresh carrots, peas and fresh cabbage. The portion size was really good. My friend had shepherds pie and hers was amazing. The dessert were lovely. I had ham rolly polly with custard. We thoroughly enjoyed all of it and will be returning very soon.

Went for an early Mothers Day outing with 2 disabled people. No wheelchair in sight upon arrival, when in most garden centres they are displayed prominently. Went inside to ask where the wheelchairs are, got told to go haul one out of a shed myself. I managed to manoeuvre one out despite the sizeable step up into the said shed, which wasn't even open for customers and wasn't signposted as the location for the wheelchairs.

What a dismall Wyevale Cafe, dirty tables, miserable staff. Long wait to order, even though not that busy. We visited for a light lunch today, 1st time in ages we have been here, and I think the last. Could not have the main/sweet I wanted. Ended up having expensive /sweetman slice of cake and ginger biscuits. People who did order food appear to wait ages for it. The disabled parking spaces are in totally the wrong place, very tight access and the entrance was awash with water. Very, very disappointed with total visit!

Came here when visiting the garden centre which we have not been to for some time. We had tea and sandwiches. Poured one cup of tea and not enough left in the pot for a second cup so asked for some more which they did but blamed the size of the cups which were not that big! Sandwiches ok, fresh salad with it but had to ask for forks as none left out plus the knives were dirty. Felt for nearly £16 not good value and better going to a local pub or cafe in Lewes.

We just stopped by for coffee and an ice-cream. Americano coffee was very good. However, we had to wait quite a while to be served as there was just one person at the till and making the coffees and collecting the ice-cream. There was also a waitress, presumably in the back, making up the dishes. I think they need extra staff on Fridays.

Visited with two other people for a light lunch. Although not that busy, numerous tables were needing to be cleared of trays and used crockery and plates. The surface of our table was sticky. We had ordered 2 toasted sandwiches and 1 wrap. The food only took about 10 minutes to arrive and the toasted sandwiches were hot and well filled. However, the wrap was very small and lacking in filling, therefore not good value. Will probably visit again for garden products and EWM, but not to eat.

My Daughter took me to lunch here. Not much choice for vegetarians so opted for a jacket potato with brie and butternut squash and my Daughter had a sandwich wrap. it took about 25 minutes to arrive and my potato was hard and luke warm, I could only eat a little of it as it was just too lumpy. The Waiter put it down and almost ran off, as if he knew if wasn't up to standard, My Daughter said her wrap was "ok", but we both decided we would not eat here again, as not only is the food not good, it is vastly overpriced.

Getting food here is an almost comical experience if you are feeling patient and utterly infuriating if you aren't. There are way too few staff and they all seem either new or have a slow motion glaze on them which means they saunter about deliberately oblivious to the ever growing mass of people queuing up, totally unfazed and unapologetic as they wander about very slowly and sometimes apparently quite aimlessly, with no sense at all of wanting to try and help you not to spend your entire afternoon in a queue. I have been here many times as my daughter likes the soft play there and it is always the same. If i ever get anything to eat, i can't taste it I am so angry. Most of the time I don't bother to get anything unless there is absolutely nobody queuing. Even one person ahead of you produces an enormous wait. And even if you are the only person, it is like some surrealist movie.
