WP Fish and Chips in Hammersmith and Fulham

What has happened to wtf. We used to enjoy the fish and chip dinners it used to be the best in the area. We have also tried their branch by Acton Town station But both of them have gone down since the pandemic The fish in the Acton had a unusual taste and if it was cod I would be suprised The same in their Hammersmith branch this is not cod they are selling and shouldn’t be selling it as cod I think they are sourcing a fish they are passing of as cod I’ve will not be going there anymore in the future get back to selling good fish and chips what you used to

Can not fault this place. OMG FRESH fish it was the boom...service was really good. Hot food me and my partner had a great experience here..rock or cod I definitely recommend

This is a review of the Brook Green branch. I ordered cod and chips to take away for £15.50 and it was cooked exactly right , nice big piece of succulent cod with crispy batter, slice of thick lemon and plenty flavoursome chips.

WTF is right….They should not have served such a meagre portion to a child even. Never in 24 years of living in London have I been served so little fish. I ended up scraping it off the skin with the side of my fork and it wouldn’t have filled a quarter cup measure with it. I suspect they fobbed it off on me as I was collecting to take home. I had to get up mid-meal to cook a large helping of veg as I could see I’d be hungry and didn’t want to eat the pile of chips that could have fed a family of 4.(probably hoping I’d not notice there was no fish). I paid over £17 for a pile of chips. Didn’t even include a slice of lemon. Never again.

I visited with family and ordered food to takeaway. Once leaving we realised that our order was wrong so we returned to the shop to rectify. It turned out we'd been OVER CHARGED as we never specified we wanted the 'lunchtime special' cod and chips even though it was lunchtime. Why would we need to specify? They'd also forgotten to give us our mushy peas. The man who took our order was very defensive and aggressive, blaming his colleagues for missing items and blaming us for not specifying. Eventually he began shouting and became VIOLENT towards us and started banging the counter in anger! At this point I was in tears crying, all the other customers were staring and the other members of staff were avoiding eye contact and staying silent. Apparently he was the manager, I wonder if he talks to his team like that? I will NEVER be returning. What kind of person treats people like that especially when they are the ones in the wrong?! The food is nice but very overpriced. Customer service, abysmal.

Popped in on the way to a concert. Food was lovely and so fresh. Huge portions. Really lovely guy serving. Would definitely go back if we come back for another gig

Been to this place many times, it has never disappointed me. Excellent fish, freshly fried and light, fluffy chips. Good sized portions and friendly service. I always call in when in Hammersmith. I'll be back soon!

Like so many places post pandemic the standards have gone down while the prices have gone up disproportionately. None of the WTF remaining 3 restaurants buck this trend and this one which used to be our 'go to' is now our 'stay away from'! We do still go to the Acton Town branch where continuity and quality especially the lunch specials are still ok.

Looks great and it is great lovley food, and nice surroundings. I walked past it before but made a note thinking it looked nice so mafe a point of visiting. All is BRILLIANT!!! Superb food. . . . . . But HOW MUCH? I visited on my own. One person. I ordered cod abs chips to eat in. And a bottle of water. £21.00 Yes 21 pounds! Extortionate!!! And the only water was glass bottle mineral water!! I would of been happy with 1 pound plastic bottle Buxton water. £21 !!!!! I would of given it 5 STARS. Nice food but not worth twenty 1 What the Fish pounds. I will not be returning. Which is a shame.

Second time coming as first time around was great. Came with my mom who is in town visiting, Food was great both in quality and taste. Only reason I’m downvoting this time around is because the lady waitressing and cashing up added the “optional service charge” without consulting nor explaining to me. It was a poor attempt at being sneaky and sly with one’s bill - which FYI. NO ONE APPRECIATES.

Visited the Acton branch during lunch time. I ordered haddock and chips take away. I thought at £17 it was going to be large and tasty. Unfortunately it was neither. I have had better and cheaper to be honest. They did have a smaller version for just under a tenner if you wanted it. The service was polite but the wait was long. No tarter sauce was offered. Would I visit again well not at those prices.

The food was excellent - best chips I have eaten for some time. Unfortunately the service was poor, as the staff seemed to be more concerned with dealing with takeaway orders than people sitting at tables. The main problem for me was the high level of noise, though I couldn't be sure if it was coming from staff members or other guests. I would have had a dessert (in fact only cheesecake was available), but by the time I would have been ready to order it , I just wanted to get out of there to escape the noise.

Cela fait plusieurs années que je viens y manger quand je suis à Londres. C'est, sans doute, l'un des meilleurs Fish and Chips de la capitale. L'endroit est sympa, les serveurs toujours très accueillants et agréables. I have been eating here for several years when I am in London. It is, without doubt, one of the best Fish and Chips in the capital. The place is nice, the waiters always very welcoming and pleasant.

I have used this restaurant a few times when staying in a hotel nearby. Of the last 3 times I have been 2 of the fish have been dreadful. Cod first time and plaice today. The worst of it though is the total disinterest when the staff see an almost untouched piece of fish. I was asked today "how was it" and after saying it was bloody awful the waitress laughed and presented the bill! Avoid at all costs.

It’s a huge disappointment that the excellent East Sheen branch of WTF has closed at the end of April 2023 with zero notice to customers. The staff are excellent as are the fish and chips!! Why has this happened please and when will it reopen?

A really enjoyable visit here for my lunch. Food was excellent as well as interesting conversation with owner. Will certainly visit again and would recommend to visit.

I have been coming to the brook green branch for several years and I've always enjoyed the friendly staff and the excellent fish and chips but after my recent visit where one member of the staff was so rude to me while serving me and cut into my conversations and frankly I found aggressive as I was deciding whether to eat in or eat out as it was a nice day. All she cared about was whether I wanted salt and vinegar and did not let me finish my conversation Very rude I'm such a pity as is not a very busy establishment and I think this kind of behavior we'll put people off going and indeed I will not be going again.

Wow fantastic fish and chips, we visited the Brook Green restaurant, friendly staff, best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Visiting London worth the visit.

They made us go trough a horrible moment with the check, we had to go trough the films of the camera only so they could see that we were saying the truth about how much did we pay with to have our change back. But the food was good.

Friendly staff gave great service. Fish and chips were up there amongst the best. The RAKI gave it the 5th star, served with a smile.

Just been to WTF on an impromptu visit and was very impressed by the food and the helpful staff. I would definitely recommend a visit to the restaurant and will hopefully be able to return soon.

A mixed experience for us: The cod and chips that my husband had was lovely - a hot, generous portion and plenty of chips. The cod was lovely. However when I was trying to explain my lactose intolerance the server thought that I said I could not eat 'batter' when I was saying 'butter'. As a result my choices were very restricted and I ended up having the salmon and new potatoes. To be honest the salmon portion was not massive, the potatoes not very, but the side salad was really fresh. In all honesty, they need a clear allergen menu available that the customers can read for themselves.

Open until late at night, great food, very good service. Would definitely recommend! Worth the trip out to Hammersmith.

Have used WTF regularly particulary Acton Town but this evening was absolutely atrocious. The chips were old and dried out, the 'delicious' cod was thin and mostly batter, from time of order till delivery was 14 minutes and we live 12 minutes away, clearly not...

We were a group of 6 adults and 7 childrens two nights in a row having dinner and we were treated very well, especially highlighting the good attention and sympathy of the 2 girls who attended us. La camarera detrás del mostrador era sorprendentemente hostil y casi me arrojó la comida, alejándose antes de que pudiera decir algo. Las porciones de bacalao eran mucho más pequeñas que mis visitas anteriores y sabía muy soso. Parece ser un ethos / equipo de gestión completamente diferente incluso de hace tres meses. Visited on a Saturday for a late lunch. Not busy but very clean and staff greeted us on arrival and offered us a choice of tables. We ordered Haddock with chips plus saveloy, chicken pie and chips. Food was cooked to perfection. Not greasy and very hot and fresh. Nice that they serve draught beers as well as other beverages. Toilet was spotless and clean. Staff welcoming and friendly. Very reasonable prices for the area. Disabled access throughout. Will definitely return.

The ingredients were fresh and cooked to order but the cook clearly has insufficient experience to be working here. Was the fat too hot, I suspect not, the chips were simply dry and overcooked on the outside as was the batter on the fish. Couldn't help but notice another couple left half the plate, come on its fish and chips get it right. Eat here quite often but not enough consistency.

Paid for my food in advance. The woman supposedly being a waiter was so horrendous to me for getting my own salt and vinegar I had to leave for fear of what they would do to the food. Really bad attitude.

We visited Hammersmith specifically to try out this restaurant having read a review on Tripadvisor. The rancid smell as we approached the restaurant from a distance of 100 meters or more was enough to dissuade us from dining there or anywhere else that evening. No exaggeration - it was horrible

Live locally and have always liked the look of this place. Hadn’t had a chance to visit but recently, after a family trip to the fair nearby, we called in for an early dinner. It was only 4:45pm and the restaurant was very quiet.

A very nicely decorated fish and chips restaurant and the dishes are freshly made, both fish and chips. Highly recommend the special grilled hadock with spinach and mushroom. Very easy to find and very modern and cosy atmosphere. Also it's not overpriced for the good location it has. They can also do takeaway or delivery, very busy but well organized.

When visiting London we visited here as it was just across the road from our hotel. A very ambient and busy atmosphere and no free tables but it was warming and there was something about this place so we decided to wait. Within a few moments we were seated to our table and very quickly the waitress cleaned the table. We all opted for the fish and chips with a side order of mushy peas. The fish was amazing! The kids also agreed! The batter was cooked to perfection and the haddock moist and just flakes away. There was a lovely gentleman waiter, who came to ask if our meals were ok, and he was also quite entertaining for my youngest daughter. The atmosphere was perfect and although busy and no tables we did not feel rushed and were able to enjoy our food.

Five dishes of fish foods including plaice haddock specialities. All dishes were served timely with tartar and ketchup. Fish was fresh and tasty. Chips a bit bland, though. Gets quite crowded at evening time, so a reservation might be a good idea. Well worth of visiting.

Came for lunch and was not disappointed-from the start this appeared to be not like your ordinary fish and chips shop. Everything was very clean and airy, staff were very friendly and there were plenty of items on the menu, including burgers for those who aren't a fan of fish. We also had some scampi and calamari which were both fried perfectly and were nice and crispy. Prices very decent for Hammersmith's high street-overall, if you're looking for some great traditional British food, this is the place!

Fish was fine, not very good so we're the chips, standard. Worst mushy peas I've had in my life, watery and flavourless. BTW, they add the tip to the bill and they run the full total on your card without telling you. I won't be coming again. Much rather go to The Catch at the other end of Chiswick High Rd, better service, much better fish

Good fish and chips. No nonsense. The small lunch plate is good value, service is nice and takeaway cooked to order so the fish is nice and crispy. Sometimes the chips are a bit of a let-down, hence not 5* rating.

I've been here now three times and I was always struck by the freshness of the fish, the excellent batter on the fish (light) and not overwhelmingly greasy, large portions of chips and peas...it's lovely. What's not to like? If you have a hankering for fish and chips, this is the place to go. It does get busy but you can always take out if there's no place to sit. Plus it serves alcohol. Wine and beer...good for families, or for a date or frankly anytime.

At the entrance to Ravenscourt Park in Hammersmith, on King Street, is this lively, trendy chippy; Fish X Chips, also known as What the Fish, or mischievously shortened to the eye-catching WTF.

Chips are hit and miss but fish is fine. Not much competition this side of H&F; but would eat again if in the area.

Para ser justos, el pescado aquí siempre ha sido bien cocinado, pero he estado aquí con bastante frecuencia y todavía estaba muy decepcionado en mi última visita para descubrir que todavía no pueden dominar el arte de cocinar papas fritas. Como de costumbre, son pesadas e indigestas, papas de baja calidad y poco cocidas. Se necesitan porciones más pequeñas y de mucha mejor calidad. Ahora me he rendido. No puedo entender por qué el lugar está tan ocupado. ¿Hay algún lugar local donde pueda obtener buen pescado y buenas papas fritas, o es este el mejor Hammersmith que puede ofrecer?

Una cálida bienvenida en Nueva York con un camarero encantador y amable. Teníamos eglefino, papas fritas, guisantes y salsa de curry. El pescado está preparado a pedido, justo lo que nos gusta, y las patatas fritas eran la perfección. La salsa de curry era un poco picante pero tenía el sabor clásico y los guisantes eran realmente buenos.

When cravings for fish and chips start there is no other place that comes to mind other than this friendly Fish X Chips. It is great not only for fish and chips but also for meeting up friends and spending a time out.

I had spotted this place so many times driving into and out of town and having spent my 20/30s living in Grimsby ( the premier Fish 'n Chips town! ) as well as frequent visits to other famous F&C; locations.....the original Harry Ramsden's, Cerruti in Hull, Whitby, Scarborough, and Geal's in Notting Hill ( when I got posh!).. I earnestly hoped that this place in Ravenscourt Park lived up to the favourable comments.

Fish x Chips (sic) just by Ravenscourt Park is an excellent, unpretentious neighbourhood eaterie with friendly service excellent fish (it does takeaway too.) Spotlessly clean and very good value. .

Fish and chips vicino al Premier inn dove soggiornavo. Posto pulito e cibo veramente buono. Ottima birra e prezzo molto economico (13 sterline a testa per una buona cena). Piatti anche per i bambini. Orario tipicamente inglese per cui prima delle 19.30 molto pieno dopo molto più tranquillo.

The bestest fish & chips I’ve ever eaten! This restaurant has a really nice atmosphere! The staff are excellent, specially the girl who attends at the table. She deserve to be recognised for her excellent attendance.
