Woodworks Cafe in Flintshire

Woodworks Café Lovely venue. Very engaging friendly staff! Our experience was very pleasant. The only criticism is that the cafe reception area is very cramped. There were a couple of card stands which would be better placed somewhere else especially when there were two queues of customers - one waiting to be seated and the other queuing on the way out to pay. It was a little chaotic to say the least!

Our regular monthly meet up. although I visit in between with another friend. Food is always good and well presented. Have had the pleasure of having a delicous afternoon tea on another occasion

I was enjoying my falafel salad, when I spotted a large bug in the salad with two large tentacles, it was barely alive, I notified the waitress who was very apologetic and went to report the incident to the chef. I was very disappointed with the chef's remarks which were passed on via the waitress. It must have flown in to the food he said! It was obvious that this insect had been washed with the salad and dressed! I was offered another meal, but as you can imagine, I didn't really have an appetite by then. So disappointing, thatthe chef reacted in such a defensive way, and didn't even bother to come and speak to me.

Thought we’d call here while in the area, hadn’t booked but managed to get a table. An unhappy looking lady eventually came to take our order, then we waited ages for our food. Meanwhile I had to swap places with my husband as I had a terrible draught on my back and neck from the open door in the other room. The breakfast was ok but it was smoked bacon , and the black pudding wasn’t the nicest. We didn’t enjoy our coffees either, not sure what brand it was. The phone kept ringing and was very rarely answered. There was a young waitress on who looked even more miserable than our server, giving the place a depressing atmosphere. As we were leaving, the waitress from the other room caught our eye and passed the time of day and seemed the most pleasant person in the whole place. Thought it was expensive for what it was too. Wouldn’t go again for brekkie.

My friend's allergies were treated with great care. Time was taken checking ingredients and her meal was tweaked until it was allergen-free and substitutions were acceptable. Thank you. Nice food in pleasant surroundings. The plants outside were well-kept and displayed and the staff helpful.

Worst breakfast I had ever eaten. Cold beans. Dry bacon. Cold toast. Dry black pudding. Tasteless sausage’s. Was not worth the money.

Party of two: Came here without booking a table and was surprised how busy it was. Staff advised us to hang fire and that they would sort a space for us both to sit. Rather than wait for the staff when a table became available we took it to be informed that it was already booked for the next party, ok i guess fair enough. We eventually got a space which was ok, not ideal as it was more a space by the wall with two tall seats and space for our drinks but hey ho we didn't book so fair enough i guess. Service was ok, the one member of staff who gave good service was a lady called Dawn who was polite and genuine and i had a good chat with her at the end of the visit. As it was a drinks visit my partner had a tea which she said was nice and i had a cappuccino which was okay but i have had better. Would i come here again, yes.

Cafe Staff Review Only: On entering the cafe around 3pm, the whole area on one side was free but I was told I could sit next to a very large table of around 8-10 people by the end which shocked me as the whole cafe was available. It was too noisy and I asked if there was anywhere else to sit - I was told I could sit outside in a pod!!! Wtf?! There were over about 15/20 free tables and was ushered to a loud small corner where obviously the staff didn’t want to walk further than they needed to. I said forget it I’ll go somewhere else as wanted just a coffee and a bite to eat not so loud! Seeing the reviews on here re staff makes me realise I’m not the only one. It’s a shame as I want to use the garden centre to fill my empty canvas of a new garden but looks like I’ll be off somewhere else. Daleside where I’m sat now has ample seating , not told where to sit and the cafe staff appear v friendly here! Daleside Hawarden- go there!

Just tried to book a table for 2 people for coffee and cake for tomorrow as per instructions on the website which states bookings are to be made 24 hours before. I tried using the online booking form which doesn't work. When I finally got through I was spoken to by a very curt and unhelpful lady. I know its a busy time of the year but Customer service should be pleasant all year round.

A lovely time with my mum and dad at the woodlands garden centre on Wednesday we all had turkey stuffing and cranberry panini was delicious and excellent quality the staff also were very attentive, my Mum and myself attended the wreath making workshop where you get a hot drink of your choice and choice of cakes , what a lovely afternoon we had making our wreaths the lady who ran the workshop made it so enjoyable can't recommend it enough and can't wait to return!! Thank you for a lovely experience we really enjoyed it !! And our wreaths look fantastic!

Called today for breakfast, having been several times before my husband choose the big breakfast and I choose the smaller one, excellent quality of food so tasty! We also had coffee which was up there with the best I’ve tasted and in a mug which I love, would definitely recommend eating here. Staff are very accommodating and pleasant

The Woodworks cafe is by far my favourite place to go for lunch and/or just to meet friends for coffee. It’s so popular that booking is definitely advisable to save disappointment, but I should point out that the staff do their utmost to accommodate those who do decide to go on the off-chance. You can eat in, or if you prefer to eat outside surrounded by greenery there are a number of lovely gazebos to choose from. I have been going for a good number of years and have never failed to receive a warm welcome from the management and staff. In fact I’m greeted like an old friend now, and since the lockdowns it’s not unusual to get a phone call from the manager, Fiona, to check if everything is ok. She started doing it then and still does when she’s noticed I’ve not been in for a few weeks. This is so thoughtful, touching and very much appreciated. To access the cafe you have to walk through a fabulous gift shop which is certainly worth a look around! A member of staff always escorts you to your table and then advises as to the delights of that particular day’s specials, which are of course in addition to their usual fare. A particular favourite of mine; a baked jacket potato - which is a proper oven-baked potato, not a microwaved one! - is offered with a range of fillings and always comes with a generous portion of freshly prepared side salad. My favourite coffee, a latte, is always served hot and strong, and they even do a loyalty card! Collect 7 stamps and you get the 8th tea or coffee free. Brilliant. They offer a fabulous choice of cakes, but without doubt the freshly made scones are definitely *the* ones to order as far as I’m concerned, either to eat in or to take away for later. The scones come with portions of butter, jam and a pot of delicious clotted cream. The ambience there is really lovely, and the place is always spotlessly clean. I’ve never once sat down at one of their tables that has needed cleaning. Cutlery is brought to the table once the order has been taken - I only mention this because a personal dislike of mine is seeing cutlery in pots already on the table! In all the years I’ve been going nothing has ever been too much trouble for the lovely staff no matter how busy they are. I’ve always received service with a smile and a friendly attitude. Lastly, for anyone who likes the welcome of a log fire, well this is definitely the place to go, especially as it’s getting close to that time of the year when a blazing log fire will be burning away in their huge log burner. The quality and quantity of the food served here, together with the always warm and friendly welcome from the hardworking staff is more than enough for me to keep returning as often as I do.

A nice relaxed atmosphere with a menu for all tastes using locally sourced produce, whatever we chose it's always of top quality and really tasty with ample potions. The Woodworks Cafe team are always very obliging, friendly and always give us a great welcome. It's very popular with a respected reputation, so booking is always recommended, Mold is a thriving couny town and Woodworks Cafe is certainly one of the jewels in the crown! Well done to all at Woodworks Cafe!! Highly recommended.

Visited this place with family were were visiting. The shop area before go in was lovely. Then you hit the cafe area and what can I say. The lady that took us to our table was miserable. We sat near the kitchen area only to hear staff bickering not something I wanted my young family members to hear. Staff not happy which the atmosphere spilt out into the cafe area. It’s a shame the lady overseeing the cafe seemed to be the problem according to the staff well that’s what we heard! The food was ok though overpriced or the quantity you got but apparently local produce is expensive. Given we had visited on recommendation I wouldn’t bother again purely that I don’t want to sit and listen to work place issues on my weekend break

Booked a table for lunch, arrived on time, no-one seemed interested in taking our order so we left. Also a very noisy environment.

Lunch in The Orangery on Saturday 9/9/23. Chose two course menu for £25. I had beef ragu which was average. My wife had seafood pappardelle. Very disappointing - 3 prawns, no pollock and little salmon.Looked as if they had missed off the sauce so pasta was dry. left two thirds of it. We have been coming here for 15 years as we live in west cornwall. Only second time in Orangery and disappointing both times. Food was better in old restaurant as was the value for money. No point in investing in new facilities if the standard of the food you offer has declined significantly. Suggest you review your food offering and the kitchen staffing, it's not good enough currently. We won't be back in a hurry!!!

Called one morning for breakfast with daughter on way back from a early hospital appointment. Really quiet and probably due to the price increases! To be fair everywhere is doing the same I see, but there will come a point in time whereby something will have to give out eventually… both myself and daughter ordered a breakfast Bap ( have had in the past and was spot on) but this occasion although stated a bap on Menus… we received sliced bread instead? Bread tasted awful! Really cheap doughy bread! The fact that their prices are up and also not a true description of the menu items… perhaps would have been better had they used a good quality sourdough instead if substituting the said bap! I did not say anything at the time ( staff are very pleasant tbf ) but if I were to return I would now ask on ordering if it would be the bap as advertised and not cheap sliced bread.

I’m usually a big fan of the Woodworks Cafe, but I went last week and was so disappointed. The quality of the food was average, they’ve put their prices up, and now they no longer use free-range eggs. The service is still friendly, always a plus point. I won’t be returning unfortunately.

Been here before, for breakfast. That was absolutely brilliant. Today, however popped in for coffee and cake. Service was excellent , we were offered a seat within minutes and served within 5 mins. My apple pie was lovely. The garden centre itself is a bit different than others as it has more than just garden furniture . It specialises in lots of other wood products such as sheds and wooden containers for plants and trellis as well. This garden ctre is 11 miles away from where I live but well worth a visit.

Came for a Saturday lunch with a friend. We sat outside in one of the gazebos, it was a pleasant experience. We both had jacket potatoes, then we both had gluten free scones with jam and clotted cream. I will be returning.

Excellent visit today as usual. Staff always friendly and helpful. Food was very tasty. Reduced menu at the moment but still plenty for everyone's tastes. Love the outdoor area with the mini gazebo style wooden seating with the addition of heating makes them cosy even on a cooler day like today. Would definitely recommend and will visit again soon.

We called in for a bite to eat, table for two after someone else had cancelled!!We were taken to our table, seated and menu's brought out. Specials were Chunky Veg Soup and Turkey Dinner, two Turkey Dinners we said in unison. A little while later two Turkey Dinners arrived, roast spuds, turkey slices, very tasty pigs in blankets, apricot stuffing, parsnips, gravy and a bowl of veg, sprouts, carrots and broccoli. So tasty we could go back every day for another feast. We felt very safe here, everyone walked round with masks or face shields. All tables were sanitized as people left. Will be going back again very soon.

Booked afternoon tea at the garden center. Never been before but a friend recommended it and said how lovely it was.Its a small venue, and wooden tables spread apart and with dividers between, all very well done. Tables are sanitised after each guest and everything is very thoroughly organised by the lovely, friendly staff.The afternoon tea was lovely, a selection of fresh sandwiches, and the most delicious scones! The assortment of cakes was varied, including carrot cake, bakewell slice and lemon drizzle - all fab!what we really appreciated was the lovely friendly staff, especially our waitress who's name I didn't take not of, but in fairness all staff are polite and friendly and I would certainly return again.The garden center has a small gift shop, with a nice assortment of gifts and it makes for a lovely couple of hours out in a safe environment.Thank you .

If you want to eat delicious, we’ll cooked, locally sourced food in safe surroundings then this is the place. We had the palette breakfast was really tasty and well cooked. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We always book as this place can get busy. They make their own cakes and you can take them away if you can’t manage one after your meal. I’d definitely recommend trying here.

Absolutely perfect! After shielding at home was amazed by the cleanliness, the staff but the main thing was the CAKEs & SANDWICHES ! they were amazing so fresh ! We have visited a few times before and have always had an excellent experience. We thought we would go again this week to support after lockdown.The afternoon tea that we ordered was equally as scrumptious as usual. It was obvious that the management and staff had worked hard to re-open with safety in mind. Fabulous cakes! See you again soon.

Used to go often for afternoon tea but today was a let down scones and cakes not as good as they used to be. Clotted cream and jam in small tubs not very nice. It will be a long time before l go again if ever.

Lovely seating area outside in little individual huts.Started coming here for their cream tea and each time we are in Mold we are drawn here. They also offer an excellent choice of cakes, also sandwiches (we haven't tried them yet)Price for a cream tea is £4.25There's plenty of parking outside and the entrance has a ramp for the disabled.

We came here for late breakfast - friendly service, excellent food - as good as it gets. Hope to visit again one day.

We recently attended a family gathering in my father's home town of Mold, and I ordered the buffet from Wood works cafe. I had been introduced to the cafe by family members and it had already become a favourite of all of us. The breakfasts, coffee and lunches are all excellent!Fiona and her team were really responsive to our needs and delivered a huge buffet to the venue, free of charge. There was so much food and it was all freshly hand made and really delicious. It was also excellent value for money.Mold offers lots of excellent places to eat and drink but, if ever you are passing through, Woodworks is to be recommended for a great breakfast/lunch/afternoon tea menu or, if you ever need it, an amazing buffet!Many thanks to Fiona and her excellent team! We will be back!

As part of my birthday present a friend got me a voucher for afternoon tea at this cafe, which is attached to a garden and woodwork centre.The environment was very pleasant, and I could imagine sitting outside in summer in the garden area. The food was great quality and so plentiful it took ages to chomp through it all, and I had to have a doggy bag as no way was I abandoning the remaining cakes!!The service was excellent and they kept popping back to see we were ok.Had a look (or a waddle) round the rest of the place when we finished, and there is a marvellous shop selling homeware, handbags, cards etc that I could have stayed in all day spending money I don't have. They also have a huge warehouse of great garden furniture made out of top quality wood as well as the garden centre. Lovely place and I'm coming back.

Had been told good things about The Woodworks Cafe and visited for lunch. It was busy when we arrived and we hadn’t booked, but we were fortunate to be allocated a table in a cosy corner. There was such a wide range of options we were spoiled for choice. We were quickly served and didn’t have to wait long for our meals. The food was delicious and fresh, and very nicely presented.Right in front of us was a wonderful selection of cakes under glass domes....that were impossible to resist! All, in all, a tasty treat and we look forward to returning.

Visited the Woodworks Cafe after reading the reviews on Trip advisor and wasn’t disappointed the staff were very friendly and helpful. From the outside you could not imagine how lovely it is inside. We arrived early for Breakfast and he was already busy with lots of tables already reserved. We were given a table quickly and left along to pick our food. It arrived piping hot and was deliciousFrom the outside you you would not expect such a lovely cafe, it’s almost hidden we nearly drove past. But it was worth the visit .

On 4th Jan 2020 we went here for breakfast after reading the amazing reviews here. What can I say? The food was of outstanding quality the staff were friendly and we left full to the brim. For 3 breakfasts it came to around £35 which in the area was pricey as we did get a breakfast (of lower quality) at another place close by the next day for a lower price aside from that it was amazing

Visited the woodlands Cafe for breakfast on 11 Dec 2019 as it was recommended by my son who lives in the area! We ordered 2 small breakfasts and they were enough for us as we are not big eaters! the food was lovely quality with quality ingredients! also very good coffee! 5 stars from us! Highly recommended

We ordered Christmas Lunch a few weeks ago, there was 4 of us but one was Gluten Free but no problem. We arrived and was shown straight to our table, as they knew our order we were served with efficiently with our starter, which was excellent, then had to wait a few minutes before our main was served, the meal was excellent, very hot and very very fresh you could taste what you were eating. only one person had a sweet, then a plate of delicious sweets were presented and tea and coffee. We could not have wished for anything better. We could recommend Christmas Lunch to one and all. Thank you so much.

On the whole good apart from a server with an attitude so spoilt lunch politely asked a question about veg only to be told “ we don’t know what there is we just deliver to table” then reported us for being rude, a member of kitchen staff came out wouldn’t listen to what we had to say and dominated conversation.

Visited the cafe having heard good reports. The eating area is part of the garden centre shop with tasty, relaxing decor, rustic furnishings. The interesting menu changes from breakfast to lunch midday ; the food is tasty served in a friendly atmosphere. Worth the drive out of town for a pleasant change.

popped into woodworks garden centre cafe today to try the breakfast. Wow it was exceptional , everything cooked to perfection and the ingredients also outstanding quality. The eggs wow, unbelievable. Service was exceptional in every way also. Fabulous morning and breakfast. Highly recommend.

35 cyclists landed for lunch today. Staff were amazingly friendly and even had secure parking for our bikes. Food & drink delicious.

Called in at the Woodworks Cafe on a Friday morning for a bite to eat. Quite busy, but still managed to get a table. Decided to have the large vegetarian breakfast. Breakfast came with toast, but no drink. Had to order a coffee separately. The breakfast was very tasty. The coffee was very nice. Decided to have a piece of cake and another coffee to finish off.

Booked a table for 6 online (recommend that you book in advance) - arrived with 8 adults and 2 toddlers - not a problem. Friendly staff, great menu choices, (with plenty of options for all tastes and appetites). Obviously a very popular place because it filled up while we were there - stayed for two hours! Lovely shop and garden centre.

I am so glad that a family member recommended this little cafe . We loved the breakfasts and the milkshakes they were so nice ! Catered for vegetarian and there was lots of choice :) I will be returned and I’ve recommended it to my friends already . Lovely to walk around shop and outdoors after :)

I visited the cafe today with my daughter who was vsiiting from abroad, for her to try a slice of carrot cake. There was no carrot cake available but the staff went out of their way and baked a cake that afternoon and kept 2 slices aside for me to pick up. They stayed late after closing until I arrived to pick the cake up. My daughter arrived home and she agreed the carrot cake is the best around. Thank you very much.

Went to this cafe after seeing a gluten free afternoon tea advertised online.

Frequent visitor to Woodworks and it never disappoints. Super hot late, tasty welsh breakfast and attentive service, what more could you ask for!

Anyone who visits Mold and enjoys good reasonably priced food would do well to visit this excellent café in a well stocked Garden Centre.
