Just back from afternoon tea. Was absolutely amazing. Staff were friendly and the afternoon tea was the perfect size and price. Highly recommend this place for food or just a cup of coffee. Sometimes the best places are right on our doorstep.

I don't go to Flint very often so until I was invited to a work meeting at The Old Court House I wasn't aware of it's existence. I ordered a sweet chill chicken salad which was really tasty and not just made up of a pile of iceberg lettuce. This was followed by a very nice slab of carrot cake and my first ever pumpkin spiced latte. As always I found myself envious of someone else's meal...the full breakfast looked like it might well have been the best cooked breakfast I've never had so if (or when) I find myself back there I know exactly what I'll be ordering.

My friend and I called in for a cup of tea and piece of toast. We were both shocked to see the very small piece of toast that we both had -at £1:10p each.We both agreed it was the smallest piece of toast that we'd ever had in a cafe.I did mention it to the waitress but obviously she was only serving and not responsible for it. The cafe was pleasant enough but I won't be returning.

What a find and my waist band will be forever greatfull that we dont live closer. This cafe has a really friendly almost family feel about it. The staff were lovely and the food was amazing . I literally could not fault it. The coffee was as good as Ive had anywhere thanks to a machine i would expect to find in Italy not Flint !! The history of the building is interesting to boot. How many times have you had your breakfast where witches were tried ?

Been meaning to visit here for some time after hearing about good reviews. I had the large breakfast and could swap items for others. (Tomato’s for egg). Wife had the highly acclaimed Welsh rarebit breakfast son had the under 12 breakfast. All demolished it! On this visit I couldn’t fault it. Coffee was hot, juices were cold. Relaxed environment with friendly staff. Breakfast was top notch. Would onwardly recommend and certainly visit again. Thanks very much.

I had the breakfast Welsh rarebit which came with a very good quality sausage and easier of bacon, delicious on this toasted brown bread. Americano was also very good, Just what I needed! It's about half way up Flint high street, access through the front and side. Side access easier if you are disabled and the cafe is also dementia friendly which is nice to see. The staff were all lovely and happy

Despite being very busy the ordering at the till was swift. My cup of tea was being served to me before I had even sat down. It was piping hot too. Delicious homemade vegetable soup served with soft fresh bread was also served very soon afterwards. Plates were cleared promptly after we’d finished eating. I shall be returning very soon to try the delicious looking huge Welsh Oggies that were on the counter. The cakes looked nice too.

I like to support local business and Caffi'r Hen Lys has become a favourite of mine. I've a requented the cafe many times and I can't fault the food and the staff are friendly. You order at the till and your order is brought over to your table. On the upper floor of the building there is a community meeting space which will be available for hire and there is also an office space. Events are held here such as table top sales, kids parties, conferences etc. History of Hen Lys, the Old Courthouse and dates back to the 17th Century and is Fflint's second oldest building after the castle. In 1665, Dorothy Griffiths of Llanasa was tried for witchcraft – facing the same judge who presided over the trial of Charles I who was executed for treason – however against the odds she was found innocent.

I needed to find a quiet place for a coffee and a conference call. There were a few people in the café and I asked if there was a quiet corner so I didn’t disturb the customers. The lady working there was very friendly and said I could use a vacant meeting room upstairs, she also gave me a run through on the history of the building. It’s as old as the castle and was host to the hanging of a few witches I think! Anyway if you need a meeting room it is worth checking here ... not sure on prices but I’m sure a quick call would answer that.

Lovely warm welcome, great service - speedy, polite, thoughtful and thorough. Nothing was too much trouble. Ordered at the till and paid on card. Had the full English which was good, but the sausages lacked a little flavour. Well cooked and piping hot when it arrived. We also had some tea, which came with extra water but only one tea bag, which meant the second round was rather weak. Would come again. There are two steps down into the cafe with railings. Outside seating is an option. Nice selection of cakes and tarts, also fresh fruit juices and cold drinks.

We ordered two welsh rarebits with garnish. Sadly whilst the rarebit was really tasty the quantity of it was disappointing: one small round of bread with the saddest salad I've seen in years. This place surely has the potential to become a gold mine but for visitors to Flint it just doesn't seem to have reached its best yet. There's a long staircase to reach the toilets on its upper floor.

I often call in for a coffee and always find the staff, friendly and happy to chat if they have time. The food is cheerful and quite often enjoyable, if I’ve had any issues they are always quickly and easily rectified without fuss. The only negatives are that the upstairs room, looks dated and needs sprucing up without the bench seating. Plus the opening hours, my children (especially winter time) love a hot chocolate and cake after a long day in school and unfortunately closing time is 4pm meaning we always have to go elsewhere which is such a shame. Children are welcome and there’s a good selection of food on the menu.

I love The Old Courthouse, it's the nicest cafe in Flint with tasty food, comfy seating and friendly staff. It's been renovated beautifully (as the name suggests it IS actually an old courthouse) and has interesting information about it's history. I always head here first if I'm after a coffee. About time we had a good little coffee shop in Flint....coffee is always hot and good, even get a special offer occasionally, like free cake with a large coffee....what's not to love. I have visited a few times, usually just after I have come out of working in a busy kitchen, and the staff have always been friendly...not gushingly so and that's fine. They do a good job, bring the coffee and cake to the table, always with a smile.toilets are clean, well maintained and well stocked with the necessaries .....I always think if the loos are clean, kitchen will surely be too!the cafe is kept clean and tidy....what more can u ask for .

Myself and hubby went for a visit whilst shopping in town. I had been there previously with Mom and enjoyed the strong coffee (I love it!) and the Toasted teacake. This time hubby noticed the apple pie and that is what he wanted. It came warm with lovely warm custard and pouring cream (yes he asked for both..). He wolfed this down and basically told me this pie was better than mine! not only that but caught him trying to lick plate - not a good look for someone of more mature years... We have been back and have had paninis,Their "wrap bread" toastie sandwiches and the Doorstop Welsh rarebit - always scrumptious - will be back soon

We called in for a quick to bite to eat to get out of the rain . We had Welsh rarebit which was really tasty and coffee and a speciality tea, both of which were good. The lady at the counter who I later discovered was the manageress was quite abrupt and whilst we were seated we could hear her having a " discussion " with a male member of staff , this seemed inappropriate when customers could hear her. Would we go again ....maybe, the food was good but don't like being in an uncomfortable atmosphere .

Impressive remodelling of a derelict building has brought the old courthouse back in to life as a coffee shop. Coffee choice is excellent and they serve speciality teas too. Food menu is simple but very good quality - served without long delays. The staff are friendly and helpful, with one exception who I've figured out becomes ruder and more "un customer friendly"" the busier it gets.
