Update: the WoodStock reached out to me to email them (see below). But no idea why as they didn’t respond to my email. Where to begin. We’ve been to the Woodstock a few times and always had an amazing experience so decided to go for our anniversary. Unsure what’s happened to the place. The speed and quality of service was shocking. We had Booked a table for food and drinks for 5pm. The place was not dead, but not busy. With a few tables taken outside and only one inside. When we arrived we were stood waiting for a few minutes with several members of staff walking past us before my wife decided to go to the bar to ask. After she waited a solid 5 minutes and was at the front of the bar. The waitress decided to ask the people behind her to walk around her so she could serve them, completely ignoring my wife. By this time I grabbed another member of staff who managed to find our table and a high chair for our baby. Without being given a menu, the server came along after quite a wait and took our drinks orders, and then upon his return with the drinks asked if we’d be dining with them today, (we’d booked for food) we said yes, and he asked what he wanted. Still without giving us a menu, at which point I pointed out we hadn’t seen a menu and were given one. We were left for quite a long time to decide. Which would have been fine usually, but we’d already been waiting a considerable amount of time. After we finally ordered the food came out promptly. It was very good to be fair. Small portions for the price but tasted great. We received no check-backs during our meal. When we finished eating we asked for the bill, which was brought quite quickly and we asked for the card machine when the bill was received. Over ten minutes later we had still not received the card machine so my wife went to the bar to pay while I looked after our baby. She was ignored once again until the server finally came back to me about 15 minutes after requesting the machine. Honestly, just completely shocking and felt like our presence was an inconvenience to everyone there. We won’t be back.

Food is a scam. I ordered the 'slow cooked' steak pie for £18.50. I've never had a steak pie in Manchester at that price before so expected good things. I was truly shocked to find out that it was nothing more than the cheapest frozen pie containing approximately one small lump of meat. I returned it and received a full refund. I'm amazed the pub thinks they can get away with this charging obscene prices for lack of any kind of quality. Edit: The Pub have now commented that I ate most of the pie before returning it, however all I did was cut into the pie and didn't eat any of it, which I think proves my point. To them it looked like someone must have eaten the contents.

Very disappointed. Searched "the best sunday roast in Manchester" and this pub came up. Why? I don't know. It was my girlfriend first sunday roast as well and she didn't like it at all. Food came cold and tasteless. Also extremely small portion for the price of a roast.. totally not what I expected.

Think overall not a great place considering all that Disbury has to offer, would advise looking more in to the town Centre. This Mitchell and Butlers is over priced for food that is clearly just stuck in an oven/fryer straight from the freezer. The highlight was the £8.50 miso chicken skewers- which was probably the equivalent of a 1/3 of a chicken breast on a poor ‘salad’ with a cheap sugary miso imitation sauce. All of the portion sizes were tiny - even for small plates and not representative of the prices charged, with most of them being at least £8. Overall not particularly impressed.

Food & drink badly overpriced -- had the steak and ale pie for £18 which was nothing more than a frozen pie with very little filling chucked in an oven served with some mash and greens. 2 cask ales and large glass of wine £25 is easily most expensive in Didsbury. Shame as I live on the same road but rarely come in as value for money is so poor

I don’t live in Manchester anymore but my family do. I took my family out for dinner & chose the Woodstock for the sunny garden & a few past visits. I was extremely disappointed with my experience tonight After placing my order for 3 adults My sister ordered for her and her son As the food came out we started to share the starters between us There was a prawn starter that I hadn’t ordered but presumed my sister had When everyone else’s mains came I waited a while then realised that the prawn starter Was given to me instead of the prawn linguine that I specifically ordered when I raised this with the waiting staff they didn’t say sorry for the mistake and wasn’t bothered I re ordered my main. When it came I was happy to pay the extra difference but said that wasn’t wanting to pay for the prawn starter that I hadn’t ordered The staff just took the main away. I was left to feel I had done something wrong & hungry I went back in to speak to the staff to see what they thought had gone wrong with this order He knew what had happened and when I explained how I was made to Feel I finally got an apology for the mistake Not great customer service I work in hospitality and would never make my customers pay for my mistake We didn’t stay for more drinks & will most definitely think twice before returning Poor customer service Food mostly good but the chicken special was mediocre Great garden and stunning building, decor furnishings & fittings

Not the best… I’m sorry to say that my steak pie was basically disappointment encased in pastry. I don’t think the side of cabbage had been washed properly either as it was gritty. Gravy portion far too small for a pub north of Watford. I would’ve sent it back were I not starving following a long walk. Bar service also sluggish. Nice friendly staff though. In no hurry to return, sadly.

This is a lovely pub with beautiful interior, spacious car parking and excellent food. However they are falling down on some of the more basic hospitality skills. I most recently attended with children and despite being told to sit wherever we wanted and order at the bar we were not automatically given a children's menu and these were not on the tables with the main menu etc. So we had to ask for a children's menu. I noticed the children's menu has a dedicated colouring page on the back but we were not given crayons for this when we were given the children's menu so had to ask again. Providing children's menu and crayons should be automatic if staff see children who are dining at their establishment. Also there was an initial refusal at the till to sub a carbohydrate on the plate for anything else of the green veg variety (due to dietary requirements) which i found very strange as this is a very basic concept. We had to wait while this was verified with the kitchen which seems excessive as the sub was a house salad not even a cooked item so was easily replaceable. Part of dining out is being looked after and attended to and we didn't feel this was particularly the case as staff seemed more focused on attending to a table of guests from within their own industry than regular custom which was disappointing. These are all very easy fixes however and would increase the profile of the establishment considerably, especially that feel good feeling you want when your meal is finished and you're on your way home with the memories of the same. Room for improvement. Edit: we visited again today and encountered exactly the same issues of not automatically being given a children's menu despite having a child present and having to ask for crayons for the children's menu as they were not given with it even though it has a colouring page on one side... We actually had to leave without placing an order as the kitchen had apparently run out of crudités and the other options for starters on the children's menu were cabbage(!) or a salad, neither of which are child friendly. The kitchen refused to provide a suitable substitute and the server suggested we buy the children's meal deal anyway but not have a starter which I found unacceptable as you should receive everything you pay for. This establishment is not child friendly based on our recent experiences and as a family with three young children- we won't return. Children are the clientele of tomorrow so providing them with an enjoyable experience is important if businesses want to establish future custom. This establishment should drop its children's menu and serve solely to adults as the menu itself is ill devised for children's palates and staff/kitchen are inflexible with providing substitutes even if the substitution need arises from their own lack of adequate stock inventory. Not good enough. There are plenty of eateries to choose from so we went somewhere else.

It’s a really nice cosy pub and has a good selection of lagers and an okay selection of ales. The food is average though, the prices are quite expensive especially considering the portions are on the small side. Would recommend for pints but not for pies!

The food is just pure art much like the new beer garden outside which glistens in the dark. The staff are always insanely happy and really go that extra mile to ensure the ultimate customer experience. I have seen staff administer first aid to man and dog which shows how well trained the staff are. Unfortunately that particular Man and his dog both passed away after a hit and run by a red mini apparently owned by a local man. I have never waited longer than 18 minutes and 20 seconds to be served at any one time. The disabled toilets are a joy as it has it's own sound system. It's that big that they now hire it out for functions such as karaoke and barmitzvas etc. It also attracts religious people and rumour has it that Jesus has appeared there more than once and he usually drinks IPA. Never a dull moment at this listed building known locally as the Woodstock! Enjoy!

This is very confusing, as when we received the email yesterday, Mark confirmed to us on the phone that the policy came in two days prior, therefore we were not told this as soon as you were aware. Incredibly disappointing. Hi Teagan, I am very sorry how your booking has been impacted by us no longer being able to host self catering events. We communicated this to you as soon as we became aware and it was unfortunate that it was so close to the date of your booking. Many thanks, The Woodstock I would strongly advise against booking any event at this venue! My sister reserved her baby shower here for January 2025 back in November 2024, and the booking was confirmed. However, over the following months, the venue kept making last-minute changes that made the entire experience incredibly frustrating. Initially, there was no minimum spend, then suddenly a £700 minimum was imposed. The deposit also increased from £200 to £250 without any clear communication. We were told we could bring our own buffet, only for them to send a vague email two weeks before the event stating that this was no longer allowed due to a change in policy. We were now required to use their buffet, which offers limited options and would cost a minimum of £800 for just 4 hours. This has been incredibly disappointing, especially given how close we are to the event date. Their lack of transparency and last-minute changes have left us with very few options—either we pay an exorbitant amount for a buffet we didn't plan for or scramble to find a new venue despite having already sent out invitations. This experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I would not recommend this venue to anyone.

Avoid this place for any kind of event booking!! Unfortunately my sister in law had her baby shower planned here for months. With two weeks to go she had to cancel yesterday as they continuously kept making changes. They originally said there was no minimum spend, however changed their minds recently and said there was a £700 minimum spend (not sure who’s spending that on a day time baby shower). They also originally said she can bring her own food and buffet for her guests, again they changed their mind on this and said there is a ‘new policy’ where you can no longer take your own food. Completely understandable that policies change however the professional thing to do would have been to honour what they had originally said.. instead they wanted her to use their set menu which would have cost her almost £800 with two weeks to go. To add to this, they also changed the deposit amount without any clear communication. It’s clear to see what their intentions were here. She had no choice but to cancel and look elsewhere with two weeks notice, not the stress you need when you are heavily pregnant. I work in a similar industry and would personally be embarrassed if I had made any of my customers feel this way, never mind the total lack of professionalism with the constant changes. It seems there is some serious training needed when it comes to their events. Much better places in the area to book, even with 2 weeks notice.

Avoid this place at all costs !! , my sister booked her baby shower back in November 2024 to have her baby shower in January 2025. Two weeks before the baby shower my sister had to cancel as the venue kept making constant changes saying that she needed to spend a minimum of £700 and that she couldn’t do her own buffet. This is absolutely appalling as we were not told about any of this months back. Whilst my sister is heavily pregnant this is not the stress that she needed on top of her pregnancy and having to find another venue two weeks before the baby shower is a very stressful time for her. Also when writing a bad review there is constantly a new review saying how good this venue is for an events this is absolutely disgusting and misleading to people that are looking at booking events.

We held our christmas do with the Woodstock this year and all guests have agreed it was fantastic. The best buffet we have had for many years, and very accommodating staff for various dietary requirements. The whole team from booking to the actual evening were great to work with. Great location, NO didsbury dozeners! We have no doubt we'll book again.

Not knowledge enough about allergies I'm allergic to onions so served me veg with leeks ruined the whole meal no apology felt totally ignored will not go back

Booked a table for my dad's 60th birthday. It took them about 10 minutes to find us a seat even though the place had just opened. Sat down, was given menus and nobody served us for 20 minutes. We had to go up to the till and then was told they were sold out of all the food we ordered even though they had just opened. Went back to our table and decided on something else. Went back to the till to order (because, again, service was non-existent) and was told they gave us the wrong menus so they didn't have that either. Very disappointing for my dad's 60th. We left right after this.

Came here for a Christmas meal. Staff were rude and pretty unwelcoming. Food was terrible and tiny portions, bread burnt, steak massively overdone, chips tasting like cheap frozen stuff. Cocktails rubbish and watered down and cider way too expensive. A 6 pound odd per person service charge is ridiculous especially since it was non negotiable. Went home hungry

We reserved a big table for a birthday for a Sunday roast. We sat upstairs and it was really lovely. The service, (Annie was our waiter), was outstanding, we were really looked after and our every need met. The food was really good.

First time at the Woodstock yesterday evening and what a disappointment. The pub itself is lovely, well decorated & had a great atmosphere, however the same could not be said about the food offerings. I was contacted about an hour before our pre-booked slot to be told they had sold out of the Sunday roasts which was fine with us as we preferred dishes off the main menu. However, on arrival we were then told that most of the dishes on the Main menu had also sold out. The waitress did eventually tell us that the kitchen was able to provide 3 more main options, but again the choice was limited. As time was ticking on we felt there was no choice but to stay & eat so opted for what food was available. Overall the food was good, but the experience was let down with a lack of choice, slow service and food not being served all together.

Had a great stay here! Nice staff behind the desk which were happy to help and great at conversation! Nice atmosphere too which is a big plus. Stayed in a standard room which was still really nice! Especially for the price! Also is close to the train station so travelling too and from the hotel was easy!
