Unbelievably great service, friendly locals, and HEAVY Immaculate vibes, can't wait to go back for lunch today!

I come here every week for the quiz, and have never had a bad experience. Joe and the bar staff are all lovely, and the environment is really nice with consistently fast and friendly service. It's also a very welcoming and safe environment for queer & trans patrons, which is much appreciated. I recommend the Lass O'Gowrie to most people I meet, and quiz night is regularly the highlight of my week

The weekly quiz is great fun and well attended. Joe is a great host and there's always a good atmosphere.

Lass O’Gowrie was the shining star of our night in the city. We had a bit of a disappointing trip overall, but this pub is wonderful. The food was lovely and well presented, there are plenty of different beers on tap, we tried a few different IPAs and they were all delicious. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The building is a beautiful traditional pub with original tiles and nice little terrace. It’s really well kept. Highly recommend

Two of us came in on Saturday. We had 4 pints of guiness and shated some company with two strangers who were very friendly. From St Helens we were looked after by a young lady Aday she was very friendly professional and helpful. Thank you we had a great time.

Favourite haunt in Manchester though it's changed a bit over the years. Love the small room at the back. Haven't tried the food.

Prices have gone up quite a lot since my last visit. Almost £6 for an ale? The young staff need to learn how to pull a cask ale and spend less time chatting. Almost £1 cheaper nearby and always pulled to perfection (britons protection). Doubt I'll be back anytime soon.

Very kind people. They allow us to park in car park while we go and feed the homeless.

Often go here to watch football. Atmosphere is always really good. You can book tables and the beer is nice and reasonably priced. Haven't eaten there so can't rate the food.

Fui a Manchester para una cita y pensé que tendríamos un lugar de comida. Fuimos aquí y solo había nosotros una mesa de 3 y una mesa de 6. La comida tardó 50 minutos en llegar a la mesa y ningún personal había dicho hasta 5 minutos antes de que hubiera un retraso. Si nos hubieran dicho esto nos habríamos ido temprano para llegar al aparcamiento que solo teníamos 15 minutos para comer nuestra comida.

Spent the evening with a large group, spread over several parts of the pub. Hats off to the staff for coping with the chaos that entailed. Always had a smile and a calm demeanor. Pie was a real pie and was satisfyingly filling. Wide range of beer options, had several different and were all good.

Not a tourist pub. Excellent food even at lunchtime. Some creative dishes. Praise to the kitchen. Absolutely friendly staff. Also bring the drinks to the table. Should be honored. Seating is also available on a terrace. Very exciting over the River Medlock and under the railway viaduct. I would love to be my local pub!

Nice and comfy pub close to the city centre. Decent selection of beers and the food is excellent! Can get quite busy and a little noisy at times though.

llegó un viernes por la noche ( 22 de noviembre alrededor de las 20: 00 ) y subió a la barra, sin clientes esperando, el camarero me ignoró y conversó con los clientes durante siglos antes de decidir servirme. luego al sonar mi bebida, tuve que preguntar TRES veces si podía usar mi descuento estudiantil porque las dos primeras veces le pregunté que comenzó una conversación con los mismos clientes a mitad de camino. fui camarero durante dos años y no habría SOÑADO con tratar a un cliente de esta manera. dígale a la mujer detrás de la barra, pelo corto y castaño en una cola de caballo, para aprender un poco de servicio básico al cliente! !

amazing service!! very lovely lady behind the bar , rosie , and prompt food service too! portions are much bigger than i thought and could hardly finish dessert! would definitely recommend for anyone in city centre looking for good service & hearty food. pub is also currently very christmassy & is a great place to end the evening after a long day of christmas shopping!

Fui habitual durante muchos años, pero después de un largo descanso recientemente visité un pub que alguna vez fue favorito. Atrás quedó el acogedor bar ahora reemplazado por un diseño elegante que no se vería fuera de lugar en un bar de hotel corporativo. Atrás ha quedado la micro cervecería a la que se podía mirar a través de una ventana produciendo las maravillosas cervezas LOG. Atrás quedó la luz de gas, una pérdida tan triste. El pub ha perdido su encanto para mí y probablemente no vuelva. El progreso no siempre es bueno.

Good selection of beers and ales (although quite pricey), the food was unfortunately the standard across all GK pubs I've been to - overpriced and underwhelming. Went on a mid week evening so lack of atmosphere to be expected, but the design and layout of the pub is nothing to write home about.

A really nice pub which is hard to find these days.The bar staff was quick and helpful. This place takes Cash and card best of both worlds. You can smoke here on the terrace which is above a river which was nice to have a drink outside even in November will go back to this lovely pub again.

We just moved to the neighborhood and our local pub is Lass O’Gowrie, across the road. The atmosphere is fantastic and instantly welcoming. We had signed up online when checking out the menu and received a voucher for a free cider so went to redeem them and enjoy dinner. The barmaid had difficulty with the vouchers so we will use them another time. No big deal. We ordered steak and ale pie but they were out so went with the scampi and the chicken katsu burger. Both were absolutely delicious. We had a great time but it was disturbing to see a barmaid spray insect spray on bar fruit that was behind the bar which had fruit flies around it, with the lids open, possibly to be served in drinks? We made a mental note not to ask for any garnish in future. Other than that, a great pub, delicious food with an excellent variety of options, terrific atmosphere and friendly staff.

The management is very poor and the service is poor the food came out cold

Absolute delight! Had a lunch deal with a sandwich+drink for 8 pounds (+2 if you prefer beer + 2.5 if you crave a side of potato) and my husband had a delicious pie. Fish in my sandwich was juicy and crispy, pie was amazing as well. Let alone the beer and the atmosphere of the proper English pub. Definitely recommend.

We called in to have a drink, it was early afternoon, so not many people in there at the time. Very spacious, looks a lively pub, will definitely visit when in Manchester again

Everything was great ubtil bouncer decided my cargo pants (clean ones and branded) are joggers and asked me to leave. Another case of terrible power hungry bouncers causing issues that don't need to be an issue. Having a sia badge shouldn't give you the authority to decide if someone is classed as incorrectly dressed when have worn cargos into venue many times before 👌🏼 won't be returning due to ignorant bouncers but staff great and Guinness is best in Manchester. Aware of the rules for dress code due to location but you're a pub, not a bar or restaurant. If you don't like a bad review due to poor door staff hire better door staff as they're the first representative most people come into contact with within your establishment. A review is based on my experience and your door staff ruined my experience so I will not be removing it for the sake of your business reputation as you employ the door staff. Improve, don't request reviews to be removed.

Well it's a lovely pub but makes it amazing its the staff they can do enough for you, assistant manager Naomi is so attentive and friendly 😀 I loved her..but a mention goes to Jordan who is a fountain of knowledge of the area and was so helpful. For the days we were it become our local , beer was good to...cannot praise enough really

Amazing historic and interesting find on our first visit to Manchester 😻 - Outside area a treasure above the river with the history of the industrial revolution flowing peacefully below a nice outdoor area to enjoy a drink with the menu for good pub food. Inside I found very helpful friendly staff - especially smiley kind Naomi who found us a table seat 🥰even on popular busy quiz night 🙏 A bonus is the pub accepts Blue Light card 😁- then to top the evening, an amazing selection of nice wines by the glass - so toasting this local feel pub with a very pleasant glass of Picpoul De Pinet ! 🥂 If I lived here I would be a regular ! !

Lovely place. Never been in before so was slightly apprehensive about our visit for a works day out. We had ordered a buffet for 12 people, everyone said how nice it was. There was a good verity & there was plenty of it. The service was extremely good, the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We highly recommend the Lass O’’Gowrie & will definitely return ourselves 10/10

The Lass has been a favourite bar of mine for several years, from the good old days when the BBC was there before the new office developments have now been built. I don't think the original brewing facility is there anymore but there is now an outside terrace built over the adjacent river which adds a further option to sit outside, a benefit when the weather is currently wonderful in Manchester. The beers on offer are still as plentiful as I've recalled and with guest ales always on offer for visitors to try. There is now YES, the music venue directly next door which is always full.

Great lunch deals: Mon-Fri noon-3pm: £10 for a hefty sandwich + ANY of their ales/ ciders (£6-7). Soft drink lunch is just £8. Tell this to londoners.

Popped in before heading home on the train. It was quiz night and the quizmaster was great. Good selection of beers.

First visit here in almost 30 years. Oh the shame. Now owned by Green King! The pub has changed, not for the better. Perhaps rose-tinted glasses back then, but it has lost all its charm. Gas lights, gone, the lovely bar area and own brews gone. The only thing that had not changed were the lavs! The pint of Cwtch from Tiny Rebel was not up to scratch. Won't be back

Very nice pub with a good range of cask ales. Definitely worth a visit.

Not a place to come for food. We came for the roasts. The Yorkshires were stale and the gravy was oily. We also had a pie, and it tasted very odd, especially the pastry. The inside was fatty as well. The mash also had weird rubbery lumps in it. The waitress was lovely and very helpful with our issues though, and I can't give her enough praise.

Music bar where you can also eat very well. It's a bit noisy, but that's normal in houses like this in England. The live music, while well-intentioned, prevented any opportunity for conversation.

If you go here, just do yourself a favor and order the Karaage Sticky Chicken.. soooo good. Service was good and quick. Cod Goujons were also very tasty

Unfortunate they didn’t have sandwiches, but the pie was good as a fall back. The sticky chicken small plate would get 10 stars if I could.

it’s still a lovely little pub but it has lost some of its authentic pubbiness on this visit… Genuine advice to the management - a bit more of a relaxed approach at the bar would go a long way. Maybe reintroduce barstools too to create a convivial atmosphere. Today it felt a bit like I was queuing for a McDonalds drive thru.

Home game and Sunday roast, it must be good! Unfortunately, all the roast beef was sold out, but the chicken was a surprisingly good option. And even though we weren't able to attend the football match, the atmosphere was in high spirits! Nice staff who made sure we had a good time, I'd love to come back here!

Pretty busy, but was 17:30 on a Friday night - 2 tables free though!!. Stopped in for dinner prior to Peter Kay. Had the vegan pulled mushroom chilli - delish even though I'm not vegan, and partner in crime had the cheese and bacon burger which was demolished quick smart!! Staff smiley and friendly. Well worth a visit, whether just for a drink, or for food.
