Fabulous evening -food was amazing, served hot and on time. Everything was presented well and all our group really enjoyed the evening. We were a group of 30+. All the small plates were really tasty.

Really enjoyed the newly refurbished JW Lees flagship bar. (Used to be Duttons) Lots more choice of their own ales available and great decor with pictures showing JW Lees from many years ago.

Didn't eat here but it's a nice place to stop for a drink

Group of 4 of visited. First time here since it opened as Founders Hall. Didn't have to wait too long after ordering food I ordered the chicken, leek & tarragon creamy pie with chips & mushy peas - wasn't overly impressed - hardly any leek, certainly not creamy quite dry. Everybody else enjoyed theirs - will try something else next time. Music was abit loud tho for while we were trying to chat & catch up. Would go back and give it another go...

Great new venture from local Lees brewery, showcasing their core and seasonal products in a modern industrial bar/restaurant. A big improvement on Duttons as the focus on beer has increased with the food complementing this. 7 in total on cask - the Black Rose milk stout is a gorgeous drink, like a dessert beer. Worth a look.

Dog friendly, pretty good Sunday roast. Good cask beer. Music could have been a bit quieter but we were sat quite close to a speaker so might not have been as loud elsewhere.

Great food and drinks .....you must give it a try if you can. 😉

Great range of JW Lee's and Boilerhouse beers, very good looking, will revisit review after a month due to works still being done.

Margin driven outlet to the expense of food experience

Food excellent and great value. Kids portions very big. We had the Sunday roast and is very very good.

I generally much prefer the older traditional pubs of Manchester but Founder's Hall is a very impressive new addition. Top range of ales and - very unusually for a Manchester real ale pub - an excellent place to eat too.

Founders Bar opened on 21 February 2024 replacing Duttons - same brewery JW Lees. Large cask selection all brewed by Lees - I’m on the Fallen Again Golden Beer described brilliantly by Untappd as watery and smooth - by far the worst pint of the day. Will probably do well with tourists but there are too many better alternatives all close by for locals to drink in. Can’t comment on the food.

New place recently open. Really nice vibe, nice team and not ridiculously expensive for central Manchester. I didn’t try the food, just went for after work drinks

Absolutely fantastic!! This was the honestly the BEST lasagne we have ever had. You could tell that it was definitely homemade and it was only £13.45!!!! We are from Sheffield and travelled to Manchester for the Christmas markets, so was surprised we managed to book a table! The service was great and the personalised welcome plaque was as a nice touch. We are already planning on going back to Manchester just to come back here for the lasagne!

Had Christmas dinner with work colleagues today and the lady who served us smiled throughout the service which was so nice. All the staff who served us were really pleasant again which was great customer service. I think it was the landlord who also checked everything was running smoothly. The room was great and atmosphere Christmassy with Christmas crackers with fab bad jokes! Oh and the plates were warmed … attention to detail … nice!!!!

We were trying to find a fairly quiet place to have a drink and a chat - a difficult enough task to find on a Saturday night leading up to Christmas - but this was good m.

Nice bar in central Manchester. Only stopped for a drink which was reasonably priced and great service. Nice atmosphere with plenty of seating.

It's a bar in Manchester city centre, like so many others, staff are good and prices are average. Nothing here to make you go back again, I will say I have not eaten here, so this review is about drinks. If I'm passing and fancy a drink, I'll go back again. That's about it.

Large Lee's pub opposite the Town hall. A great selection of real ales and lagers. Good food menu at reasonable prices for the city centre.

Always love starting my Saturday or Sunday here with fried white bait and a pint. Friendly staff and nice relaxing place.

Only marked atmosphere down a star as it wasn't a busy time of the day whenever we where in. Food really good, and Manchester craft ale spot on. The barman let me try a sample before buying, nice fella. Always call in here when visiting Manchester.

Eating drinking established opposite Manchester Town Hall. You can sit outside and watch the world go by

Went for breakfast menu (received a small A5 menu on a board) but found it much reduced, overall though what was available was tasty and reasonably priced. Friendly service to boot. No Eggs Benedict or Eggs Royal which I normally get so ended up with American pancakes.

Price is good, £15 for two whiskey mixers and garlic bread, but the service put me off. If the staff smiled I think their face would break. Don’t know if that’s the job, company or just himself. But I would like to be welcomed and not just grunted at.

Went in yesterday for a couple of drinks before getting hitched and the lovely staff invited us back after ceremony for a bottle of Prosecco on the house Absolutely lovely of them xx

Visited as part of a large group from work and company spent a huge amount of money. Service was prompt but humourless. Food was utterly forgettable and my dessert (roulade) looked like it'd been in the fridge for a few days and the cream was on the turn. Had I been paying the bill I'd have been very unhappy. Can't recommend.

You know what you get with this place. It is a down-to-earth, friendly establishment that offers good food and decent drinks at reasonable prices.This latest visit was on the outside a Saturday teatime and it was packed! Just about every indoor and outdoor table was taken but a member of staff helped us to get seated. This was typical of the great service we have always had here.Try and get an outside table if you can as the views are fantastic. Here you can see all the historic architecture around the town Hall Square and there’s always something to watch going on around the area.

Stopped here for a drink and would have returned as a nice outside area and service was good. The problem being, husband ordered a Bulmers, he didn't think it tasted right, had a look at the bottle and although in date, the best before date was for August this year. I know this is probably stock left from when they have been shut but it needs checking, if you are going to charge £5ish and the best before date is approaching you need to taste it, or give people the option and sell at a lower price. I know everyone needs to try and gain income back but not at the cost of quality, surely.

After a good morning in Manchester it seemed a good lunch stop. We ordered a cheese and onion pie and prawn and chorizo linguine. We were assured the pie was fresh. It probably was at some time but not when we got it. It had obviously been warmed up for some time as the edges were hard. The linguine was tasteless and the bottom of the dish greasy from the chorizo. When we mentioned how disappointed we were with the meal the response was "sorry". Not an experience to be repeated probably one of the worst meals we have had.

Myself and 3 friends visited recently for drinks and a meal. Myself +1 had "linguine. with summer greens with cherry tomatoes, spring onions and veg mozzarella". I think the person who prepared mine must have got bored with preparing mine, as had florets of broccoli, some sugar snap peas (the best part), and tiny, halved (as small as my thumbnail) anything but fresh, tomatoes, with the rest. missing. I would like to say the linguine was lovely, but it was cooked in so much oil that it slid all over the plate. Then there was the portion size, or lack of it. I was jealous because my friend had a large mushroom and the cheese on hers! The other 2 meals were scaled back as well. Having said this, the staff were marvellous. Took the trouble to find us seating outside, and were constantly cleaning tables. If only the food was half as good as the staff it would be fantastic. Come on Duttons you can do better than this. Would return for drinks but not food.

Five stars for excellent service . Its a typical English bar - quite big with lots of varied seating - booths indoor , outside tables . The staff are very friendly and helpful . Its a safe bet for a drink. The massive £330 million renovation project started in 2018 to the Town Hall will reduce footfall to Duttons until 2024 ! and is currently an eyesore- I hope they are getting business rates reduction from the Council . Hospitality and retail will suffer from this upheaval - was a six year project really necessary ?

Popped in for pre dinner drinks. Staff were very stretched and testy. Despite wearing masks we got told off for not waiting to be seated! Not our fault no one on the door Once we had sorted that we tried to order some cocktails but were told they were all off as they were missing a lot of ingredientsChatting to our bar tender he advised it was a nightmare with staff shortages and all those working having to cover extra shifts and we understood our frosty receptionPlace was quite busy but should have been busier but only if it’s properly staffed and managedDisappointing!!!

Location fine, staff fine and sat outdoors. Had Penang veg curry - tasty enough but minute portions and I felt it was not good value for money at all.

My friends and family visited yesterday the waitress was rude left us sat waiting for drinks for a hour, then we had to pay before we received the food.When the food came its was over cooked and also cold I think it had been left out, we won't be going there again.

Staff let anyone walk round inside with no mask on and especially groups of 3 or 4 people. We felt at risk👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 They were more concerned about taking your money before you got your drinks??than protection from covid.

Went into duttons for a few bevys, was greeted warmly by the manager Matt and served by the lovely young lady Elsha. 10 out of 10 stars. Would be recommending to everyone.

Table booked for 1.15pm, arrived and ordered before 1.00pm, Food arrived after 2.00pm. This despite the restaurant being only half full. Limited menu is just that, and when food arrived it was just awful. We will not be going here again.

Servicio absolutamente fantástico. Alex fue brillante organizando todo y luego el servicio del día fue fabuloso. La comida era deliciosa. Volvimos al día siguiente para otra reserva y el servicio fue igual de bueno.Todo el montaje debido a COVID fue brillante, con mucho distanciamiento social y muchos desinfectantes de manos disponibles.Definitivamente lo recomendaría y definitivamente regresaré.Gracias Alex por todo.

De principio a fin, fue un placer tratar con este lugar. Desde la reserva de la mesa por teléfono hasta que nos fuimos, todo se gestionó de manera brillante, especialmente el lado de la seguridad.Fuimos calurosamente recibidos por uno de los muchos camareros profesionales que llevaban máscaras y nos llevaron a nuestra mesa. El personal fue muy atento e hizo todo de manera profesional y segura. Trajeron bebidas a la mesa y nos revisaron regularmente para ver si necesitábamos algo más.Hacía bastante frío, pero todavía nos sentamos afuera debido a los calentadores de patio que tienen allí. Los alrededores del ayuntamiento de Manchester y Albert Square son fantásticos y es un lugar encantador para tomar un par de copas.¡Enhorabuena a todos los involucrados y es genial tener de vuelta a Duttons!

Just your average Irish bar but a very friendly bouncer on who made sure everyone was logging on the system and sanitising.

Had a great time here last night. Had an area reserved and buffet for 12 of us. From Alex who dealt with my initial enquiry to Ed who looked after us on the night, it was all fab. Food was excellent and there was a lot of it. Wouldn’t hesitate to go here again for another celebration. I also asked for prosecco to be ready for when we got there and as soon as somebody arrived Ed appeared and poured them a glass ! Just lovely.

Went in for the first time. Went to order 4 drumstick cocktails the manager with longhair said in a patronising tone said do you think you should have a water er no. Its rude. I have been out for 10 mins what a joke.

Huge place right on Albert Square, really friendly staff and great selection of British beers in this J W Lees pub. I loved the MPA and the Manchester Craft Lager was good too. We had some sharing platters of food which were very tasty.

Went there for late breakfast on a Friday before Christmas.It’s very centrally located on lovely Albert Square (where there was a cosy Christmas market).There is a typical English pub-restaurant atmosphere.Welcome, which took some time, was ok.Ordered the vegan and vegetarian breakfasts. They were ok but not special: baked tomatoes had little taste, the scrambled eggs were very dry, the falafels were too dry too, ... I asked to change the white toast (which had butter, which is not what I like as vegetarian) for brown toast. It was possible but cost 1,5 Pounds.Service was OK but not all waiters were as proactive and ‘present’ as one of the three who served us.You have to pay before you get your order, which we didn’t like, and which we also found annoying as we wanted to order something else (like an additional coffee or some more toast).We wanted to order two fresh croissants from the breakfast menu, but the waiter was surprised as they never have had these he said. Really!?Price was ok for the generous portions.

I was very disappointed with the meals we ordered. The pasta and meatballs were not worthy of a cheap children's meal. Presentation was poor, taste was bland and largely flavourless, side salad was limp. Would definitely not recommend. Absolutely not worth the price paid. Must try harder.

Booked a table for 12:30 and arrived early as was on lunch break and wanted to make sure we had ordered. We sat down at 12:20 ordered drinks then AFTER ordering drinks were told there was a 45 minute wait which we were both shocked as had only just past lunchtime. Ordered regardless and hoped for the best. Didn’t mind but would have preferred to be told on entry or before seated/ ordering drinks as felt it was too late. Food arrived 30 minutes later but the most off putting things was everyone swanning in from the Christmas markets in and out of the door, using the fire exits and leaving doors open to use the toilet. Staff did not care and were extremely rude asking for our payment whilst we were still eating. Seemed like they wanted us out and in with the next. Never return, no hospitality at all

Fab location for Christmas markets lunch was booger’s burgers and steak baguette with a beer and a wine service was quick food hot and tasty

Our experience on Saturday was absolutely terrible. The service and wait for food without any notification to allow us to make a choice was unacceptable. We dined at 1:00 - how did it manage to be so slow at getting food out that early on - the next table to us said that they ordered at 12:00 and there food came after we sat down at 1:00pm. The food itself was of poor quality - black pudding fritters had no batter - fish that had too much and tasteless -and they should be ashamed of the thimble full of brown salty water masquerading as curry sauce. The wait for the toilets and the state of them was shocking - I went after starters and had to queue for 15 mins - I expected my main course to be served and going cold but actually waited further for it to be delivered after returning to the table (!) I believe that it is a massive mistake to allow visitors to the Xmas markets to use the conveniences (as advised is the case by our waitress) at the cost of paying, eating customers. The constant stream of people past our table made this - without a doubt - the worst dining experience we have ever had. Bad service, bad food and disgusting rest rooms - We will not be back to eat ever.

Great location, Duttons is across from the Town Hall and Albert Square. I like sitting undercover outside and watching Manchester pass by. On this occasion watching the Christmas Market shoppers. Pick a table and order at the bar. Service a little vague but quick enough. I sat outside and they put the heaters on (for me?)

Stilton cheeseburger and fries....fresh, tasty, hot, .... better than McDonalds, but treble the price! Good service and friendly staff.

Breakfast was lovely and it’s a nice bar/restaurant. I would have given 5* if wasn’t for one member of staff, it felt like we was putting her out.

Just popped in after a mornings shopping. Two courses and a bottle of wine, very reasonably priced for town. Meals were really nice, well cooked and plentiful for a lunchtime meal. We were excellently looked after by Olivia, lovely smile and a bubbly personality. Good selection of beers for the more discerning. Recommend for a pit stop when visiting the Christmas Markets.

I’ve been to Dutton’s at various times during the day with varying groups of people and it really is a venue for every occasion. Ideal for a quiet business meeting in a comfortable environment, a night out with the guys or a weekend breakfast/brunch with the family. The staff and management are approachable, professional and friendly.

I would just like to say how the atmosphere was great the staff were friendly and attentive and worked really hard on Friday night for our bosses leaving do and would like to say a big thank you to Riki and all the staff for making our night special

Place looks great so went in to eat, music is a bit loud so we asked for it to be turned which the staff did, they soon turned it up again, you have to order at the bar then wait an absolute age for the food to turn up at your table and the place wasn’t busy. The meal was slightly undercooked and certainly not up to decent standards, we tried a pudding as well, got bored waiting for it, had to remind them we had ordered something, so not the best of service, would we go back... no.

£13 for seafood pasta that a birds eye microwave meal would beat. Not much more to say. I guess thats why they had room on a saturday night without booking.

Venuti in 5, solita pulizia all'inglese col tavolo appiccicoso, ordinato il doppio burger Duttons (buono, carne cotta a puntino, salsa non troppo saporita), l'agnello (gusto solo menta) e il fish & chips (fritto asciutto ma complessivamente abbastanza insipido). Birra Manchester Pale Ale per tutti, abbastanza leggera e gradevole.

When old work colleagues suggested a meet up in Manchester, Duttons was the obvious choice.

Regresé a Duttons en Albert Square en un caluroso día de verano y nos sentamos afuera viendo pasar el mundo. Acababa de visitar The Hidden Gem, también conocida como la calle R. de Mary. Iglesia construida en 1794 y escondido justo detrás de Dutton en la calle Mulberry, definitivamente vale la pena una visita. Tuve una selección de deliciosos sándwiches y un gran aperol spritz. . . . . maravilloso

Llamé a Duttons ayer porque estábamos en el área con un grupo de miembros de la familia y caminábamos por Albert Square. Vimos la encantadora área de la terraza y decidimos aprovecharla al máximo en una tarde soleada y encantadora, pasamos más tiempo de lo planeado tomando un delicioso almuerzo relajante y algunas bebidas. Nuestro joven servidor Jack fue muy profesional y educado. Recomendaría.

Visited the Dutton on a Saturday for food and drinks made very welcome by staff. The food was lovely and fresh.our server Henry was was great very professional in his job always asking was we ok with everything. Would definitely recommend this pub for food and drinks.
