We ordered via Deliveroo and then telephoned to confirm that our order would be gluten free. Our order arrived with two items that contained gluten! This is poor customer service and should not have happened. In addition having called in to say that we were gluten free, this was clearly ignored and topping up the rice portion would have been a kind gesture towards keeping customers happy - and yet there was no consideration and gluten items were added instead. Total order exceeding £35 and was not worth it at all. Woodlands Hampstead please review your practises and policies because they are losing you customers as is your attitude. FYI - had we eaten the gluten items we would have been very ill. You need to pay attention to allergies or don't produce a gluten free menu.

We booked a table midweek and it was a nice warm atmosphere in the place. We got some drinks -loved the glasses the waiter gave us! We’re trying to eat more veg and were explained the menu nicely by the staff. We ordered the Mix grill and Keema Dosa to start and thought they were excellent! But the best dish for us was the Paneer Tikka Masala! I don’t eat much Indian (my partner does) but this was brilliant! Lovely gravy -had to order another to take away! Anyway good job to these guys- we’ll be back !

We were looking forward to our dinner at Woodlands in Hampstead yesterday evening after a fantastic meal in their Marylebone branch and a delicious take away from them but we so disappointed. The restaurant was totally empty which was more than strange for 8pm on a Saturday evening. They continually made errors in our order, I ordered from MY vegan menu, that they had given to me but they brought our dish with yoghurt saying I hadn't made the order. They brought a salty Lassi after my friend asked for a mango one. My friend was very specific in asking for a mild spinach curry and was served a dish that was so hot my husband couldn't eat it either. Then to finish off two of us asked for a Chai tea with NO sugar, well as you can imagine, it was sickly sweet. On top of all of that, they didn't change the cutlery and at the end of the meal they left the table covered in food. The food was good, some of the dishes at least, the vegan Rogan Josh was just Jackfruit in a basic tomato sauce, I didn't realise that was a Rogan Josh, or is it not?We didn't pay the service and on exiting the restaurant the manager turned round and commented, "Well, you can't please everyone"Don't quite get that comment, were we just expected to take what we were given and pay?

I came for a late lunch with a friend. Everything we ate was good but I would recommend the Dosas - lentil pancakes. The staff are knowledgeable about the ingredients and helpful if you have allergies. The restaurant was closing from 3pm to 6pm, but I understand that they will now be staying open all afternoon and evening. We found parking in Hampstead is a very difficult without a permit but I understand that staff may be able to help if you call the restaurant in advance.

A great variety of South Indian food with very friendly staff. The location means you don't get much passing trade but its well worth a visit.

Called ahead and was reassured there were options. Upon going to the restaurant with allergies of all dairy products and gluten I was given an actual VEGAN MENU with many cheese dishes and when brought this to the attention of the MANAGER he insisted the paneer is vegan to try and prove a point he went a spoke to the chef and then came back and told me if actually was not. He then told me other dishes containing gee were safe. In the end I got something very simple and listed as gluten free, I have been violently sick all night since. The lack of care shown whilst we were there was pitiful. I only know I was given wrongly listed dishes because of my allergies, I just feel bad for the vegans that must eat there on a regular bases and have no idea. I have since checked there uber eats menu and it’s also listed paneer and yogurt as vegan. The owner should be ashamed.

I read a brief review of this restaurant in a "throwaway" tabloid and spent some time looking for it - although it was close to where I was staying, it was off the high street on a side street with which I was not familiar. Worth the search! I especially wanted to eat here because they have a vegan menu - and it isn't easy finding vegan food in London! I was please with my meal (a vegetable dish with a spicy tomato sauce, rice and garlic naan bread), found it tasty with the vegetables perfectly cooked and the naan hot and fresh! I hadn't expected the "heat" of the tomato sauce - although I like hot food, it might have been nice if the menu had mentioned it! Service was excellent.

My family are vegetarian so we researched this restaurant and walked a considerable distance to go there on a cold Friday night two weeks ago. We should have noticed the place was empty compared to the other restaurants in Hampstead but hindsight is a wonderful thing. I cannot think of anything positive about the experience so will not waste your time. My biggest gripe was the compulsory 12.5% service charge they applied to the bill which wasn't even printed on the menu or or the entrance. When I queried such a charge the waiter said it was compulsory and I must pay. I will never, ever go into this place for what was such a poor experience, over inflated prices and lack of transparent practices.

Staff spend most of their time chatting at the bar. They forgot the beers, had to remind them after waiting for 10 minutes. Poppadoms didn't appear either. Had to ask again, they eventually came with our starters (rather than as an appetiser) and one was burnt. Then waited a further 40 minutes for our main courses which again we had to ask for. Meanwhile delivery drivers coming in and it picking up deliveries. It's curry, it's not complicated. Better to order through deliveroo and enjoy the comfort of your own home. You'd at least be in with a chance of eating when you'd expect to eat then.

After looking for a vegetarian/vegan restaurant to visit in London we decided on Woodlands. The menu is particularly good at providing very clear information for any food allergies that you may have. In addition there is plenty of choice on the menu. The waiting staff, Sadhia and Ajay, were really friendly, helpful and explained the food options happily for us. We had to get up to order our drinks even though we were the only two people in the restaurant. The food arrived fast and it was really tasty. We especially enjoyed the Dosa's we ordered. We also had the Vegetable Jalfrezi which was nice and spicy. We got up to pay rather than paying at the table and realised the day after that they had added a £7 service charge to the total. We didn't get an itemised bill nor did they inform of us this charge, so we tipped £5 on top of that. We feel that this service charge was excessive and after leaving a tip also they should have let us know. Otherwise, the actual cost of the food itself was reasonable.

I had dinner at Woodlands tonight with my boyfriend but we ended up feeling slightly freaked out by the service. Firstly one of our main courses didn't arrive and so we politely asked the waitress where it was. She didn't understand and just said they were a vegetarian restaurant and they don't do chicken (!) As we are both vegetarian we knew this but got there in the end by pointing to menu etc. The main eventually arrived a long time after everything else. Then we asked for a box to take extra home and she started clearing everything away - my boyfriend had to take the dish from her to make her understand. After this the table wasn't cleared for ages. The final straw was when I went to pay by card and the waitress requested we pay £10 or £20 by cash, which was weird enough but when asked why, she replied for "window cleaning and petrol" (?!!!!) which we had to get her to repeat twice as we couldn't believe how rude this was. Very dodgy - maybe tax avoidance? Finally I just paid the whole bill by card - almost £50 (no alcohol) including a 12.5% service charge and got out before anything else went wrong, I feel cheated and ripped off!It definitely wasn't worth the price paid - go to Southall or Wembley for better South Indian food at the fraction of the price; we certainly will be in future!

We decided to have early Sunday dinner here since we are familiar with Piccadilly branch. When we arrived at 18:30 we were the only diners there and when we left at 20:00 we were still the only diners. I think it is a shame because restaurant is not as bad as other people described it. We ordered thali, dosa and paneer dish and all dishes were really tasty and hot (some reviewers complained about cold food). Service was helpful and the only negative I can say is they did not have any fresh juices available. I wouldn't take there my partner for romantic dinner, it is too ordinary for that, but is perfectly fine to satisfy your curry cravings. And in my opinion prices are completely acceptable too. I am also not fan of having service charge added to your bill automatically but it is your choice if you pay it or not.

I decided to take my family here for a birthday celebration. The food overall was actually pretty good. Upon opening the menu, we found the entire wine list had been scribbled out and likewise for the entire tandoor section. From the items remaining on the menu that hadn't been scribbled, the first several dishes were out of stock. For starters we ordered paneer pakora, cashew nut pakora, a chaat and idly, all of which were tasty. For main course we ordered paneer tikka masala, Bombay aloo, channa and Dahl, the first disappointment was the paneer dish delivered was in fact paneer makhni, not tikka masala. Secondly, there were literally 6 small pieces of paneer in the main course portion, we had to order 3 portions for each person to get a couple of pieces. The other dishes were good in quantity and taste. What really let the restaurant down for me was the service. Besides the waiter being rude, our meal lasted 3.5 hours due to the extreme waiting periods, even though the restaurant was empty. Our empty plates and glasses were also left on our table for over an hour in between course. The waiters were simply not interested. It's a real shame, with the right management, this place has the potential to be a real gem.

The restaurant was a bit quite this made me have my reservations but I was wrong. There was even a surprise dessert as one of the members in our group was celebrating their birthday. The starters were quite expensive to what I thought they be, however this is Hampstead!!

They use fresh ingredients to make the most delicious authentic recipes. This is among the best Indian food I've ever had. (And I've had my share.) they offer a wide selection of vegetarian dishes. Highly recommended.

This place is bad, can't believe people have given it good reviews. We went on a Saturday night and alarm bells should have rung when the place was empty. The food was poor and the beer they brought me warm. If you want this kind of food head to wembley.

A beautiful Indian vegetarian restaurant located in hampstead. They are specialised in South Indian food especially dosas. But their North Indian curries and chats are equally good. Service is attentive and friendly.

If you are fond of having South Indian food such as Dosas of various varieties with salty butter milk, this is the place to go.There is other food too such as vegetable dishes, but South Indian food will always be freshly prepared. It is only the batter which has been prepared before hand. That is necessary otherwise the dish cannot turn out crisp and flaky, which it is supposed to. The batter is then spread on a hot metal plate with sprinkling of water to check whether it is hot enough. You can always specify the degree of crispness and the amount of cooking medium as per your taste. I personally like South Indian fare, so I enjoyed the serving here. The accompanying sambar I.e. The lentil based mildly spicy liquid dish was, in my opinion, too less. The menu mentioned that there would be extra charges for additional quantities. Now, dosa cannot be enjoyed only with the coconut chutney. The sambar has to be, in my opinion, in copious quantities. In India, we can get as much additional serving as we like. When queried, the helpful Manager said that mostly people do not eat it and it is wasted. Let me tell you. Do develop a taste for it. It is not too spicy. But it was indeed tasty. You will then be only too happy to order more. We were offered complimentary additional servings.Finished off the lunch with chai. A magnificent Indian milk based tea, a gift to the west.

The food and service was so nice in my previous visit that i couldn't wait so long to come again. The manager suggested me to try new varieties which was really awesome. I wish I could come here everyday for both, lunch and dinner!!! Just one drawback that the restaurant do not serve tandoori items in weekdays. But I just love this place. All the best.

In short - no atmosphere, nasty service charge, dirty toilet, reheated food & overpriced portion sizes. AVOID!The restaurant was empty save for one other table when I arrived - absolutely no atmosphere. I should have left then. Proceeded to look at the menu, when the food arrived it was clear it was very expensive for small portions. The waitress didn't seem to know anything about the menu and had to call the manager over. Half my meal arrived within 5 minutes of ordering so it was clearly just reheated. It was taken back until 10 mins later my full meal arrived - obviously reheated for a second time. The portions were small for the prices charged. The dosa was pleasant enough. The Channa Masala is amongst the worst I have ever tasted, and had the most repugnant aftertaste - it tasted like a ready meal prepared days in advance and left to stagnate. I had to drink glasses of water to wash it down. The lemonade was grossly overpriced and served luke warm in a small grubby glass. When I had paid my excessive bill of £20 (I was aghast at the £2.50 service charge!!), I asked for the bathrooms, the staff were clearly disinterested once I'd paid my dues and I was vaguely told "downstairs". There were no signposts upstairs or downstairs for the toilet and when you did find it, you were almost walking into the kitchen as it was right beside the kitchen door, the bathroom was clearly used by the kitchen staff as it was dirty (and had a urinal beside the sink), and I couldn't wait to get out of there. Horrible end to my afternoon in Hampstead.

We dined at the Woodlands last Saturday and yet again found the dishes fresh-tasting, innovative, and among the best Indian vegetarian food we have eaten in London. The manager and his staff are friendly and attentive. We thoroughly recommend a visit.

Mediocre food, zero service. Two non-Indian waiters clueless of menu and dependent on a 'manager' who was abrasive, confrontational and clearly unhappy with life. Impossible to order food! When food came, wasn't what we had expected from description given by manager to which the response was fruitless. Mains were dosa and dal - very average and lacking flavour and presentation. Dessert quite frankly was boring off the shelf quality. Overall awkward place and awkward staff. Note, the non-Indian waiters were nice but almost enslaved by their manager as he would permit them to do very little as we observed; in the end I challenged the service charge which prompted a fear-like response from the poor waitress so I retracted out of sympathy. Sorry, sad place - for quality Indian food, pls go East London, cheap, simple and tasty. If you know the place and menu and you're happy with substandard quality & service, this is fine - alternatively if you want to try something new, don't gamble your hard earned cash on Woodlands.

We popped into the Hampstead branch for a quick bite. The aloo papdi chaat was crunchy and fresh. We ordered the London Royal thali to share and enjoyed this. The idli, dosa and saag were all really nice. Everything was served really fast.

We love vegetarian Indian food, and since this branch of Woodlands opened some years ago we often (regularly) go for Sunday lunch. The food is always fresh and delicious and the staff have always been kind and helpful. Feels like family. Not the cheapest restaurant in town for sure, but somewhere reliable and a bit special. Have also taken many friends over the years who have all enjoyed it.We will continue to visit - we have probably been 100 times - that in itself speaks volumes!

I took my office colleagues (group of 15) to this restaurant for lunch and pre-booked the place in advance so that there are no surprises. We looked at their website and decided to go for "Piccadilly Lunch Offer for £7.75 each" which is clearly advertised on their website.http://www.woodlandsrestaurant.co.uk/menu/piccadilly-lunch-offer.htmlWhen we reached there they said they have stopped doing this offer looking at the large group and refused to comment why it’s still advertised.Piccadilly Lunch Offer MenuLunch Thali 1 - consisting of Sada Dosa, sambar, chutney, Pillau rice and vegetable of the Day. £7.75Lunch Thali 2 - consisting of Papad, Channa masala, Potao puriyal, raita, chutney and salad. £7.75Lunch Thali 3 - consisting of Papad, Tarka dal, potao puriyal, raita, chutney, steamed rice, and chappati. £7.75We all end up ordering from the A la carte menu and it took them so long to serve us.I won't suggest you to go to this place in large groups especially if you have only 1 hour lunch break. Also food wasn't great and we end up spending too much money for something which wasn't nice.Personally I won't recommend anyone to go to this restaurant if you fancy Indian food as there are other good restaurants in the vicinity you can try.

We booked this Indian restaurant with little to go on but location. When we arrived we realised it was vegetarian, which we weren't expecting, but decided to give it a go - and are so glad we did! The service was excellent, even though it was clear one waiter was a novice and it was quite busy. The food was delicious, the flavours really stood out and every one of us really enjoyed our meals. It has converted me to vegetarian Indian cuisine, will definitely visit again when in the area.

i gave this place 3 * as the food was delicious but there was no atmosphere as no one around. a bit expensive but nice portions. double check your bill. we ordered Falooda with pistachio ice cream and were told there was no Falooda, so we said we'd have the ice cream on its own. it must have been stale as couldn't cut into it for 5 minutes. nothing special. but they charged us £5.50 for a tiny scoop even though there was no Falooda there. cheeky!

4 of us turned up one Thursday evening at 7pm. The restaurant was empty. Our order was taken by presumably the manager and was helped by a young waitress with poor English. Poppadums arrived and were borderline - slightly chewy and a bit old. A mound of bhel puri arrived, but unfortunately the puffed rice was also stale and chewy and so wasn't eaten. The manager seemed busy flirting with the waitress behind the bar and didn't check on our satisfaction with the starters. When the waitress came to clear away the plates, she was told that we didn't want it because the puffed rice was stale. For main courses, we had the Woodlands Korma, a Rava Masala Dosa, a Thali and a Raj Kachori. These were fine, with some distinctive flavours identifiable, rather than an amorphous blend which was appreciated. Unfortunately when the toilet downstairs next to the kitchen was visited, it was found to be filthy with caked on excrement, the sink cracked and hairy, with clearly a long- term leak underneath dripping into a bucket. Extremely unsanitary indeed. When the bill arrived, we found that £16 had been charged for the single glass of wine, the bhel puri was still on their and a 12.5% service charge added. Querying this, the manager apologised for the wine error, but challenged our refusal to pay for the uneaten stale bhel puri.Overall then, NOT recommended and 4 customers who will not be returning.

We were surprised when we entered the foyer and were directed through a traditional bar to the dining area, I guess previously where buffet breakfasts were served. All the staff very pleasant and helpful. Meal was good (we had a Groupon) although the samosa starter could have been hotter. Lamb Rogan and Butter Chicken very tasty. Poppadoms were strange, 1/2 a proper one then tiny crisp like ones. Rather strange tat they also did take away.

It's a take-away. The food is good, the prices lower than average, the reliability, in terms of things being ready when they said, has also been good. But the consistently unpleasant reception by the ...owner? got to be too much for me, and I will not return anytime soon.

Tuve unos bocados y me fui.

Nunca he comida cocinada tailandesa antes y me enteré mucho.
