This rating is based upon it being a standard Sizzling pub; it's a great pub for what it is. The food was enjoyed by all of us (2 kids meals and 5 adult meals, all different) and reasonably priced. It's not a fine dining establishment and it's not a cosy village pub, but it doesn't sell itself as either. The staff were all lovely and accommodating and if you like Sizzling pubs this is as good as any

Called ahead to advise we were attending with my children who have special needs and was served by Carla and Laura who made sure we had a lovely visit and who both were extremely helpful and catered to all our needs and were lovely in making sure our kids were comfortable. Will most certainly be back :) and would strongly recommend this lovely local friendly bar/restaurant 10 out of 10

Very good value food nice came again today and my gammon nearly raw so sent it back brought me same piece out cooked more which not really a problem but my chips egg n peas were clap cold not very good really

Starter wrong mix grill steak was very small Lay it on chic chicken like rubber bbq sauce, not on burger, as in description on menu cheese sauce served in a side pot just like the bbq

An excellent well run and good friendly family pub. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Normally good value food and reasonably priced drinks. Absolutely brilliant home cooked food, always hot and great value for money.

Ordered 6 drinks on arrival for just over £25 with a 25% voucher and said to the girl who served us we also had a voucher for food also, she pulled the drinks…no problem. But once we tried ordering food 10 minutes later she said they haven’t been taking orders for the last hour due to the high demand of orders. I said we would wait but apparently no more orders are being taken today and said this is at 7.40pm. Why didn’t she say this before we ordered the drinks and we could have gone somewhere else before it was too late. Very unprofessional and we won’t be coming back.

A nice pub with a good atmosphere and the food was okay,but very inconsistent the way the food was served,all the meals came out at different times,needs improving.

Kelly was an amazing waitress she served me and my friends countless times and always had a smile on her face and a joke we had a really good laugh when I asked for a margarita and she asked me if I wanted a pizza and offered me all of the options it made my night. Kelly was the highlight of my night!

Come here a lot but yesterday visit was poor the food on one of plates were covered in grease And there not normally ( partner orders the same every visit) Chips where under cooked and tasted funny Good atmosphere

Kelly Carla Linsay made a very special effort to accommodate all 4 of us . Very helpful with food and allergies information as all of our group are animal lovers and we don’t eat meat or dairy.

Very slow service, only 1 person behind the bar at times. Food was overcooked, I had a burger & all I could taste was burnt meat. Won’t be going again any time soon

Staff excellent steak very chewy.service not so good due to shortage of staff.they need more staff eg glass and crockery collector. More bar staff needed. Spent almost of time waiting for staff to serve.

Couldn’t have been more disappointed. Slow service, chicken burger rock hard. Rib had about 1ml of bbq sauce on it.

We come here quite often and been tonight with family for my son and husbands birthdays. It was a brilliant friendly service despite how busy they were. Nothing was too much and the food was very nice and piping hot and we all enjoyed it. Thank you Carla and Ellie.

Went there today for lunch, ordered a large Scampi, mushy peas and chips. When it came the chips and peas were stone cold, not one member of staff came back to ask if everything was OK, couldn't get the attention of anyone so I left the meal. When they came to clear the table the staff didn't ask why everything had been left, when I questioned this their response was that a lot of customers do leave a lot of food!!!!!! Really? a lot of customers leave a lot of food and they don't even bother to ask why?????????? If that's the norm then I certainly won't be eating there again, asked to speak to a manager and told there wasn't one, asked for contact details for the head office was told to Google it. Wow, this is truly customer service at it's worst If you are thinking about eating here, do yourself a favour and don't.

I had high hopes for The Woodcock, but the meal was a letdown. The mixed grill was bland—dry chicken, mushy sausages, and gammon that was just average. The steak was decent but small, and the chips were pale and undercooked. The onion rings were especially disappointing: limp, greasy, and barely crispy. Dessert didn’t improve things either—the microwaved, soggy apple pie was a final letdown. For the price, the quality and portion sizes were very poor. I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Big party of us celebrated anniversary/Christmas get together and it was great.

It was ok, nothing to shout about tho,small portions and the chips were cold,took 15 minutes to pay as they were having problems with the gas for beer but couldn't be arsed to come take money. Not somewhere I'd go again

Called in the woodcock today for lunch and may I say it was absolutely 💯. The food was delicious compliments to the young lady chef named Kelly. Affordable food very calming atmosphere . Call in I promis you won't be disappointed.

Shame they have bad staff. Food had usually been lovely 90% of the time. Just rang to book a table. Told fully booked until 7, tried to then book for 7 and was then told nothing at 7 so went for another time, Was asked to hold, then somebody walked over and hung up the phone and will not answer the phone now. Second time since new management took over having issues with poor service from them. Used to be a lovely place and nice staff and would go down every so often but after this we won't be back there again and will be telling people to avoid.

Went for a family midweek meal , we have been here afew times and never had a bad meal/experience.. tonight's meals x5 were all spot on , the steaks were cooked to perfection, staff are always friendly too

We have just had a family meal, 8 of us . The food was really tasty and came out all together. The variety of food is excellent, and a very relaxed vibe. Highly recommended and we will be going again, and thanks to all the staff, really made us feel welcome. 5 start all the way .

It was a quiet night service was very good food wad lovely and hot .

We came 27th September for an anniversary meal. The staff we amazing and went out of their way to look after us, the food was delicious too. Again today we brought more friends out for lunch. Yet again the staff were wonderful and food delicious. This has now become my go to place for food.

Excellent service the food was excellent can highly recommend this place This is the 1st time here driven passed loads of time while working and often wondered what it was like now I know a real credit to the woodcock

An amazing steak cooked to perfection, credit to the chef and a really enjoyable meal and atmosphere. We will be returning another visit in the future.

Lovely place, lovely food, lovely surroundings. Just let down slightly by the unfortunately long waits for the food, but heard something about them being short staffed, so can be forgiven for that. Still an enjoyable visit, though

Id like to share my experience of this establishment. The Woodcock is a sizzling brand pub, this is a chain pub brand but dont be fooled into thinking this a ping ping food standard . My favourite dish there is a sizzle plate chicken tandori ( with extra chicken skewer) the plate arrives sizzling away with veg ie: onions peppers etc topped with lovely tender chicken . The kids say the burgers are the best around , lovely meat and cooked on a genuine flame grill . Steaks are a must here , cooked to order and dont be frightened to return it if its slightly under/over done . I'll conclude this review with the staff , the staff are genuinely friendly and helpful unlike some places in the area that seemed to be forced smiles . Highly recomend The Woodcock in Farnley .

Had a lovely meal (SALMON)a very welcome change from crummy burgers and poor excuses for menus liked this pub very much possibly one small negative parking a little difficult

Nice place good food. Didn’t bring out mushy peas with fish and chips and couldn’t get the free drink for some reason. Otherwise a good place to eat.

It’s cheap and cheerful food but done well, no complaints about any of the 6 meals in our party. Staff friendly and helpful.

Had lunch with friends here yesterday. Welcomed on arrival by a friendly member of staff who showed us to our table which we had previously booked. The attentive service which followed could not be faulted, the food was excellent - and was amazing value. We will be back!

Once a month the bubble car gang have a get together, a bit of food, a drink, and a drive in our beloved bubble cars. Since the demise of our last venue we have been looking for a new home to meet, and this might just be the one. Great food, good portion size, and quick arrival from ordering to serving. And it was hot! (Our last venue chucked us out because we complained the food was cold). Plenty of car parking, and, well, what's not to like with that lot. Already booked for next month. We'll be back.

Great friendly atmosphere. Loving the new refurb and great food and drink selection. Friendly lady behind the bar put raspberries in drink as you had run out of cherries. All staff were lovely and welcoming. We wanted dessert at 8:05 and the chefs went above and beyond to make them even tho they couldn't be ordered on the app. The chefs even brought our dessert out

Lovely food and great service . We were there on a really busy evening and the chef ( Leon ) was alone in the kitchen but at no point was our meal delayed. Our server Cara or could have been Carla was very attentive and polite nothing was to much trouble. 2 other servers Katie and Laura where also kept busy but had a smile on their faces through out . This is my 3rd time eating here in the last 3 week and every meal has been delicious. There is a lovely atmosphere here even on really busy days.

Never been walked in and the place smelled lovely and clean, I am very fussy with food it was just how I liked it!! Which is very unusual as I have to ask for things taken off or things added. The staff were lovely expecially Claire thank you, you will see me again.

The food is very good and value for the money. I have been back to the woodcock a few times and have never been disappointed. I have recommended to friends and family and they too been impressed with the quality of the food. The staff are very friendly polite and respectful. Overall a very good experience well done Woodcock.

Great place for a reasonably priced meal and drinks. You can order from your table so you never have to leave your table. Good service and good price.

The staff were great from start to finish. There was a bit of a delay when it came to paying and it wasn’t that busy. However I think there was a new member of staff so it was understandable. The food was the big surprise. We weren’t expecting it to be bad at all but we were very pleasantly surprised as to how nice the food was. Given we had asked several changes from the standard offering, the food was great. The one thing to improve is signage from the main road. If you didn’t know it was there coming from Leeds you’d miss it. We nearly did.

First visit for food. It was very disappointing my partner had super steak. Which was so tough he couldn’t cut it even if there had have been a steak knife which there wasn’t. It was like rubber. I had the boss burger and apart from the bacon I couldn’t eat that either. Definatley won’t be going back.
