Woo Lot in Waltham Forest

Me encanta este restaurante mi chino favorito. He estado usando este lugar durante años. Ahora me mudé a Norfolk pero siempre que estoy en Londres siempre voy a Woo Lot. La comida es de primera clase y el personal absolutamente brillante. The fish was stinking. Probably old fillet. The soup and fried rice was good.

I had sent order though at 4.30pm and requsetd for delivery at 6.35pm. food arrived a hour later was not impressed considering I had set a delivery time with no contact. not happy

The ribs was tough to remove from the bone and weirdly tasted like salty bacon. Everything else was tasty.

I visited this take last Sunday and was not happy with the way I was dealt with. I ordered a takeaway which consisted of chicken black bean sauce and a special fried rice. But when the food arrived the chicken black bean sauce has very little sauce than it normally has. I was told this is how it normally is and I disagreed and said that I order this regularly and it comes with more sauce. The server agreed to give me more sauce and went behind the scenes to get it for me. When I got home and started eating the food it did not taste as it normally does, and worked out that they put warm water in the sauce to make it up to volume. This is not right and I was so disappointed. I would have preferred if they just said that we are unable to top it up with sauce unless someone places an order, this way I would have the choice of what I want to do. But instead I was treated like an animal that you just throw food at, and was not given the respect of a paying customer. This is so bad. I will not be going here in any hurry as this is not the way to treat paying customers. Thank you.

My partner used to live in the area and it was her who introduced me to this Chinese shop, it's the best I've ever tried, the food is great, it's so good we drive from SW London where we live now just to get their food, that's an hour drive, that should tell you how good they are, service is a little slow but that's mostly because how busy the shop is, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for sure.

The takeaway seems to be pre-cooked and boiled with water. Every dish is watery and tasteless.

I’ve been ordering from Woo Lot for many years. I’m guessing that the restaurant is under new management as when placing large orders you no longer receive complimentary prawn crackers. I ordered chicken chow mein, capital spare ribs and prawn balls today. The chow mein and prawn balls are super greasy and have no flavour. The capital spare ribs now have a fragrant flavour that is unpalatable and the sweet and sour dipping sauce has a very thin consistency and is flavourless. What a waste of money! I will never order from Woo Lot again. Anyone know a good Chinese takeaway?

From 15 years we ordering every Friday night from Woo Lot food ,it was our best chinese restaurant but today was the worst one we order barbecue pork ribs they was disgusting the meat was very bad smell and raw not cooked with a very sour sauce on not barbecue sauce . Never ever order anymore food from them.Disgusting

This is our go to Chinese takeaway in Bakers Arms. Though i have admit its even better when you have the time to eat in. The crispy shredded beef is great. Sweet and Sour Pork is excellent. Fully love this restaurant.

The food was smoked and even if I requested no spicy, come spicy and couldn't enjoy it. For me was a waste of money this time.

I had singapore fried noodles this afternoon. Absolutely delicious and good quick service. Food nice and enjoyed it. Little smile and thank you at the cashier point would make bit better.

Always freshly cooked and incredibly tasty. My go to for Chinese meal every time.

Chow mein was burnt considering there double the price to other shops. Our chow meins should not have been allowed to arrive burnt. The prawn balls some were dry and crispy. Overall the pak choi taste amazing

Ordered take away as I pooped in to Tesco . It was ready for me when I came around. Really excellent Black bean sauce based dishes as well as the roasted pork ones. The salt and pepper. prawns were nice but the coating wasn’t as crisp.

I am so disappointed, my sister told me that this was the best Chinese in East London. It's definitely not. Unfortunately, I can only talk about takeaway as I ate appx 30 minutes after taking my food away. 1. Rice BLAND, no salt at all. 2. Crispy chilli beef, felt like chewing sticks/ cardboard - flavour okay texture- inedible. 3. Szechuan chicken, fried chicken clearly not cooked today, or yesterday, it was sooo DRY. The Szechuan sauce was tasty but couldn't make up for inedible chicken. 4. Spare ribs, dry and rubbery despite the sauce. 5. Beef and black beans sauce, 3/5 meet was tender but bland, sauce was also a little bland but definitely edible. 6. Chicken balls very dry and underwhelming. Overall, disappointed that I travelled this far for this. The sad thing was, when I entered, it immediately reminded me of China.

Ordered in deliveroo the restaurant forgot to add my special fried rice and the prawns were like they reheated it and add a really tough batter on top. Food was terrible. Picked off the batter as i would have broken my teeth if i tried to eat them. Food used to be great now its gone down hill.

Very good Chinese food for a very reasonable price

Rather than a restaurant this is like a cafe. Since they have become busy on take away delivery you can wait up to twenty minutes for the food. The staff are really nice. I have to say this is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever come across. Food quality is excellent and it's so tasty. I would highly recommend you try this!

I’ve been ordering here for years… recently the food don’t taste the same no more. The chicken in the fried rice ain’t chicken, maybe cat but not chicken.

Ordered Szechuan prawn, sweet and sour chicken, egg fried rice and spring rolls. The Szechuan prawn had way too much breading on the prawns and not enough chili. I wasn’t expecting any breading (it should be called fried Szechuan prawn or something!) since when I’ve had it before at other places it didn’t. I peeled it all off and it took up 50% of the container! Each prawn was 1/3rd the size once removing the coating, the texture of which was extremely sticky and soggy. The rice and sweet and sour chicken were maybe bit better than average? Spring rolls and chips were not better than frozen. Could be an issue due to it being takeaway but I wouldn’t be keen to go back anytime soon.

Great food and experience, ordered through Uber eats. Had the beef with ho fun and black bean sauce, seafood noodles. Both excellent sized portions and great tasting. Would order again!

Ordered food on just eat app after great reviews we have read. However after an hour of waiting order has been cancelled. Surely if order could have not been fulfilled restaurant should cancel order right away not after an hour of waiting. Disappointing

Was the best Chinese restaurant for many years . We have been eating there for 14 years, knew the old owners. Now , i don't recognise the food and people. The owner sold the restaurant and went to Hong Kong, the head chef no longer there, food didn't taste the same and some receipe being changed, food taste bland. Salt and pepper squid got cheap fried crispy onions instead of good amount of garlic,wonton soup w had different dumplings hard one, mixed meat special was bland and meat selection was shredded, not like before you can actually see pieces of square meat, sweet and sour chicken contained lots of onions veg more than chicken itself. They cutting things down to reduce the cost,but it's effected the quality and originality of the food. Sad to see these changes.

Food is fairly nice, however, the service isn't great. They staff act as if they are being forced to serve cutomers. They need to look around and realise they would not have a bussiness without customers!! Edited: Food is a hit or miss depending on which chef cooks your food. My last order was very disappointing. Typical!!

Always tasty. Have dined in a couple times alone but only during the day when it isn't too busy. Standard service charge of £1.50 when dining in.

Only good experience with this place, either going in or ordering takeaways. We consider it something of a hidden gem because the bare-bones setting comes with surprisingly good food — the opposite of the usual London scenario. I am no expert, but will say this is a cut above the commercial average. My partner has been to China, loved the food there, and thinks Woo Lot is the best match yet. Their two-person menus are extremely good value, a real feast. You will have at least one more meal from the doggy bag. Service is unfussy but efficient. The kitchen team is working non-stop, but remains unintrusive. No idea why the less than flattering reviews, for it contradicts our experience.

Honestly given all the great reviews here I feel like I must have eaten at the wrong place (I didn't). Every dish I ordered was so unbelievably bland! I just have to believe it was a one off. Hope you enjoy yours better than I did.

I ordered from woolot and the food arrived i ordered salt and peppered prawns that tasted like the prwans was off and the batter wasnt Seasoned and had a funny taste,the special fried rice was bland with a horrible taste always and sea spice chicken was under cooked ,special chow mein was oily very very disappointing couldnt eat non of it a complete waste of money i bought the food for a birthday day dinner not too mention money is tight hungry and broke now . I WANT MY MONEY BACK it was very slap dash you dont know any ones circumstances and even if your tired,cant be asked not in the mood you should always cook with consistency and enthusiasm to your up most best.

Ordered a crispy duck but was disappointed. Not crispy at all, very fatty. I believe it was not freshly cooked. I ordered a lot from Woo Lot before and usually I am a happy customer however this time around I wish I never ordered.

The prawns were completely gone off. Not even my cat would eat them and the food was well overpriced for the amount received

SSprawns cold and sauce Congealed.Rice cold.Very upset.1st order for a while.I don't have a microwave and obviously cooked hours earlier and left to stand.Thats how sauce is congealed and not runny.

Got Egg Fried Rice, Beancurd in Black Bean Sauce and Chips (3/5). They were all kinda bland, but not bad exactly.

The fried squid was very poor quality and sickly . Couldn’t eat it, I would not recommend this on the menu!

Whoever made my food on Friday the 1st of December done a amazing job. Seasoned to perfection. Everything was perfect.

Every single time I order , the food has a low standard. Very different , and it don’t make sense. As I know the restaurant for 10 years now. I guess I have to drive to the restaurant every single time I want their food.

The driver can't read a map and his delivery took way longer than needed dispite getting out of the kitchen on time! We saw him on the map taking several usless detours. And upon arrival, he didn't apologize or give an explanation!!

Food was terrible. Ordered chicken in curry with rice, curry was watery and tasted simply of Pepper. The chicken in black bean sauce was a joke, there wasn't a hint of black bean sauce. Honestly for the most part could not even the differentiate between the two dishes. Atleast the chicken was cooked, but was white absolutely zero seasoning. Cannot recommend.
