Wok Star in Waverley

Easily the best Chinese in Haslemere and the surrounding area. The food is consistently delicious with great portions sizes too. A delivery option would be amazing & accepting card payments a plus, but they're just minor niggles in the scheme of things.

Love it here so much. We're big fans of getting one of the set meals with Singapore Noodles and Crispy Chilli Beef to go with them. It's very reasonably priced and if you ever see her out of the kitchen Fan is such a lovely person.

Great place. The rice portions are ooh yes size. Great place and only one i use in the area just due to the great chicken fried rice portion lol simple but i like. OK May 2024, still go here, great chicken fried rice and chicken curry, free bag of prawn crackers, rice and curry has lots of chicken breast in them. Why I still go here. 5☆

Visited for a take out having looked at the options online. Since the nearby Good Earth has closed I think Wok Star and one other are the only options in Haslemere. The food seemed decent and freshly cooked, nothing fancy but what you’d expect. Premises clean. Parking nearby a potential issue especially early on a Saturday evening. The only real downside was that they were very busy, on our visit, with waiting times anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour, but I suppose being busy is perhaps a good sign rather than a bad one?

Wok Star special fried rice was excellent as was a chicken curry. Will definitely return!

The food was OK, but well short of good. The star was the mixed vegetables in Szechuan sauce : a good mix of vegetables in a decently spicy sauce. The other part of my order should have been a mixed container (D4) : sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style + beef with mushroom + rice. The sweet and sour chicken came as balls not Hong Kong style. HK style is a dish with colour and texture variety, just balls is very dull and plain. The beef and mushroom lacked flavour; this should have been an unami bomb and wasn't. If they use mushroom soy sauce in the sauce they need to use a lot more. I was looking forward to eating strongly flavoured, interesting food and mostly got some fairly bland fare.

Good food and reasonable prices

Might be the best Chinese takeaway I've ever had. Definitely get the salt and pepper squid. Been a few times now and food is consistently good.

Order a takeaway tonight first time from here. Unfortunately It wasn't great I should of checked the order in the shop as part was missing when I got home. They should pay more attention when packing. The food wasn't very good not horrible but bland not a lot of taste shame as the name of the shop is really cool.

The only chinese takeaway I know of in the haslemere / godalming area with a full marks 5 out of 5 food hygiene rating, so you know you can eat here and expect to wake up the next day.

Quite expensive nowadays, the service is relatively quick. It's not bad but could be alot better.

Very nice takeaway. The food was good quality and didn’t take long to be prepared. Reasonable prices too. The prawn balls were nice and crispy, not fatty or greasy.

Well, I first visited Wok Star a couple of years ago and left them a 5 star review. I visited tonight and wish I could leave a 10 star review. They are by far the best Chinese in the are for service, quality, taste, and value for money. I really can't fault them. Lovely food. Will definitely be going back again.

Wok Star comes up trumps again! Usually get a meal for two once a month but treated myself tonight to a set meal for one - got enough left over for lunch tomorrow so excellent at the price. Only drawback (though knew about this in advance) cash only at the moment. Highly recommend the food and service.

This was my first time ordering Chinese in Haslemere. We ordered king prawns and cashews for myself which was superb and also To fu and mixed vegetables for a friend. The service was fast and polite and our meals absolutely yummy. Thank you so very much Wok star.

We were recommended this place as a good Chinese takeaway, unfortunately it wasn't good. Food ended up in the bin. Not sure how it's garnered good reviews, either we hit a very bad day or those who patronise have never actually tasted good Chinese food!

No frills reasonably priced Chinese Takeaway, order taken promptly and the food was packaged neatly and still piping hot after a 10 minute drive, tasty and we would order there again.

This is an excellent Chinese take away. Be prepared to wait a little on a Friday or Saturday evening as they can be very busy. Pleased to say they have removed their surcharge policy for cards, that was rather blinkered methinks!

I took my friend in for a takeaway. He specifically asked for "no seafood" in any dish!!! Especially the special fried rice. (Due to life threatening allergies) When we got home and started serving up this dish it was full of prawns. Upon calling to complain and request a refund the owner seemed to question us and refused to refund us. I will be taking this dish in there tomorrow!!!! Rude owners... best avoided

We fancied a take away and hadn't had a Chinese for ages. Had always used the Wok Star and been pleased but this was very exceptional. We'll be getting another from here very soon.

Had a very large order for Chinese and really wanted the best so went the the Wok Star where we had never tried before The entire order was done fresh and surprise surprise did not take long We were all so amazed at the portions and the Food every dish and there were many was simply delicious The very large Prawns soft and tender Not one fault could be found in the entire order and the prices very reasonable In conclusion I have to say that this has to be the very BEST for Chinese Food in the Haslemere Area BRILLIANT FOOD SERVICE and PRICE

I am a refugee from another take away which has really gone down hill, and am the better for it. The menu choice is excellent, the prices are very competitive and the service is always spot on. I am a huge fan of the meals for one, under £8 for three dishes is a great option for single meals. Thank you.

I absolutely love this chinese .....use it all the time....however my only grumble is my favourite dish spicy shredded beef is very short on beef...to many vegetables ..

We always choose Wok Star for our occasional family takeaways, and it never fails to disappoint! The lemon chicken is our personal favourite, with the sauce on the side for your own choice on how much you want. There is a delicious range of starters, and a great menu selection that leaves you wondering what to have next! We definitely recommend this to anyone in the local area!

Creo que los niveles han decrecido. rollitos de primavera de vegetales eran muy decepcionantes, casi como habían sido congelados, hasta muy recientemente, verduras con salsa de soja negro no tienen mucho sabor, pato crujiente grasosa. La enorme cantidad de galletas saladas de gambas no mejoran la situación. Mi esposa dejó el menú.

Ordered; BBQ ribs, spring rolls, plain chow mien, shredded chili beef, chicken in black bean.Service - great, very clear and quick.Food:BBQ Ribs: Soft and served in what seemed like a cup of oil & bbq sauce! Spring rolls - nice but content was more like mushy potato and rice.Plain Chow Mein - smelt like worn damp socks and no taste Chilli beef - very nice best part of the dish Chick in black bean - more onion and peppers than chicken. Chicken did not taste like chicken - more like a soy replacement!Good Earth on the same road is head and shoulders above this place.

I was in on a hot day, so there where inevitably a lot of flies about outside. As I came in to pick up my order a fly came in through the door. The lady at the counter squashed it with her hand, took my money, went into the kitchen end brought out my food! The food itself is even worse than the hygiene, greasy, chewy and quite sickening.

Portion sizes good. Reasonable value for money. Good range of food - but I guess that's similar to most Chinese takeaways. Have tried the others locally and this is the best. Can get quite busy on a Saturday evening, so don't expect a 15 minute turnaround on orders.

We stayed in the area for 2 weeks and kept coming back to this takeaway. The food is the best Chinese food we've ever had, exceptional quality, great value, large portions and the service is brilliant too. I wish we could take this take-away home with us!

This food is so yummy! The best tastes and textures! Hot and large portions, with bulging lids! Quick takeaway service. They even bring it out to you if you're sitting in you car waiting outside! You aren't restricted to only what's on the menu. If you need to swap anything, or make up your own meal, they can do that without any hassle! They have never given me the wrong food.Couldn't be better overall! .....(and no I'm not getting paid to say this) ;-)
