tried to put an order in to collect gave name kept pretending he couldn’t hear us growled and put the phone down on me this was ridiculous

Ordered chicken & cashew. Ate one piece of chicken and pushed the rest aside. Totally inedible. Rubbery & slimy. Clearly frozen, not fresh. Mushroom definitely frozen too - very odd taste almost chemical. Definitely give this one a miss.

Read some mixed reviews but honestly couldn't fault the place. Ate here twice whilst on holiday. First time we had the new honey and chilli chicken with chips and a chicken fried rice. Both were delicious! Fresh, hot and tasty. Same again when we had beef satay with fried rice and a chicken chow mein. Would thoroughly recommend!!

Never,again. Bought a takeaway dinner last night. Chicken and ham fried rice, special fried rice,and Mongolian chicken. The fried rice dishes were just OK. Tge Mongolian chicken was disgusting. Since when was the over powering taste of cumin associated with Mongolian chicken? Shouldn't have been any . The texture of the chicken was slimy and I'm not convinced it was cooked properly. I ate a tiny bit but just couldn't force myself. My father in law also tasted 1 piece of chicken and decided it was disgusting. Interestingly we have both been very unwell today with sickness and diarrhoea. Very sick indeed. Sadly we disposed of the awfulness so aren't able to have it tested but I will never order from here again.

I never leave reviews but this deserves one. Hands down the nicest, freshest Chinese food we have ever eaten. We all agreed it was delicious. Fantastic food!

Don't use.Sadly didn't read reviews before takeaway!!!!! Ribs ok. Chicken and prawn Tom Yum,meant to be Thai soup like dish. Was a mix of tasteless overcooked prawns and slimy rubbery chicken that was inedible,Tried all of the pieces but had to spit them all out.Simply the worst food experience of my life.

Glad to see this place is open again after being closed for family bereavement. Food delicious (lemon chicken, fried rice and Singapore chow mein) as always. We ordered ahead and collected this time as we knew it would be busy. I like how the kitchen is open and you can see your food being prepared in front of you and staff are always friendly. Don't understand the bad reviews as we use this place frequently and never have an issue.

This is my first negative review but it’s well deserved! Bought a carry out on Monday evening and it was disgusting. Sweet and sour chicken was tasteless and barely edible. Chicken and cashew nuts went straight into the bin! Mushy chicken ! Yuck ! Very very disappointed.

We had a meal delivered to our rented caravan in elie we all enjoyed it .it is not the first time we have had a good meal from them..very quick delivery.

I would give this a zero if I could Spring Roll, stodgy mess of beansprouts a single hard prawn being the only other ingredient BBQ Ribs disgusting over cooked and inedible meat in a sauce that looked and tasted burnt. Lemon Chicken, hard to mess up so it was passable. Chicken green pepper in blackbean sauce, watery and flavourless Fried rice, flavourless For £31 including delivery we feel robbed and properly ripped off. Dont waste your money. Wish I had read the reviews before ordering!

Went here whilst holidaying locally. Ordered BBQ ribs and Special Chow mein. Chow Mein was poor. What appeared to be a big dollop of egg White on top. The sauce was extremely salty and the noodles overdone. Still edible though. The ribs on the other hand... Over cooked and smothered in a strange black sauce that looked like old engine oil and wasn't far off in taste either. Bitter, burnt and neither sweet, savoury or salty but just nasty. To be avoided

Needed a quick fix, as we were on a self catering short break. Starters were passable, but mains were watery & runny, with very little substance. If you have more time, pass this one by as there must be better Chinese takeaway establishments in the area...

Picked up a takeaway today. Barbecue sauce on ribs was an almost black thick and greasy, no barbecue flavour what so ever, both ribs and sauce very salty. My main went in bin, grey beef in an indescribable sauce, nothing like the Peking it was meant to be. His was like mine, bland and uninspiring! What a waste of £23. Drive on past this place and spend your money on something decent! Marked it a one only because I couldn't give it zero.

Tried there chicken black bean sauce. It was pretty disgusting with rubber chicken with a layer o slime absolutely horrible. Never again

Went here for a takeaway Chinese dinner on two occasions within a couple of months. Tried a range of dishes including special fried rice, chow main, beef and black bean sauce, sweet and sour dishes. All fantastic. I can honestly say the best takeaway Chinese food I've ever had and can't wait to return.

Ordered delivery very prompt and food was ok , reasonable prices as well, would recommend, and would use again

We were staying at St Monan’s holiday park and called Wok and Spice to place a large order for 14 people. We received exceptional customer experience, both over the phone and in person. The food was ready on time, tasted delicious and was piping hot. The gentleman who served us was beyond grateful for our business, thanking us on several occasions. Wok and Spice, we’d like to thank you too. Highly recommend you try it.

We ordered a delivery. Food was quite nice, although the chicken wasn't great. I think it may be that they use chicken thighs rather than chicken breast which is a bug-bear of mine! prompt delivery.

Gem of a takeaway in a small idyllic village. We were staying in local caravan park and ended up eating here most nights as it was so nice. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area.

What a meal. Ordered for 15 people to be delivered. Ready quickly,ordered loads off menu. Everything came piping hot. Service when we ordered was great. Would highly recommend. Delicious 🙂👍🙂

My family and I are on holiday and took a chance on eating from this place after seeing mixed reviews. It was one of the freshest and tastiest Chinese we have ever had, the whole family were raving about it. Would thoroughly recommend.

One of the worst Chinese meals we’ve ever had. Chicken satay inedible, chicken looked undercooked, watery sauce. Wok n spice noodles tasteless, only decent meal in 6 meals was honey chilli chicken, everything else a waste of money. Do yourself a favour and just get a fish supper!

Last night of the holiday called for take out and a movie. Dads first experience of Chinese in many years and not disappointed. Food was fresh, lovely chicken breast in dishes, good sauces. Will definitely use again.

Just had 2 vegetarian spring rolls they are the worst spring rolls I’ve ever had anywhere, only 2 ingredients Bamboo shoots and something about couldn’t describe no carrots no Chinese cabbage totally bland.

The Wok & Spice is a good takeaway. There is always something I fancy, and I've no complaints about the portions or the quality of the food, and the prices are OK, but ... having been a customer for nearly two decades, it is noticeable that not much has changed in that time. Even the photos on the wall have been there for fifteen years. That isn't totally a bad thing. Knowing what to expect and not needing to consult a menu has its advantages. But on the other hand, a little excitement, something new on the menu, a little more often, wouldn't be a bad thing ...

Visiting St Monans on holiday, and there were very few places open on the evening of our arrival.From the outside, the place doesn't look to be the most appealing...'functional' would best describe its appearance, but the menu is extensive and pretty good value.We had a selection that included lemon chicken and mini spring rolls - all piping hot and tasty, although if there was any criticism (and it would be splitting hairs) the chickne in the lemon chicken felt a bit 'processed' (spongy ... a bit like quorn or similar).Main dishes came with rice or chips as a side, so probably don't need extra sides unless you're really hungry.However, that didn't detract from the overall experience, which was jolly good value - and certainly would have been worth a second visit had we been staying longer.

Food was mixed. Curry was good as was the chow mein and ribs. Chicken and mushroom was a little bland as was the satay sauce.

The food is actually pretty decent (ignore other reviews to the contrary) but the appearance of the place lets it down and I suspect puts people on the back foot. If I’m honest I suspect that the lack of competition (it’s the only carry out dinner venue in town!) has meant its survival, but with a little bit of a facelift I think the owners could do a lot more to maximise on its potential market. It’s a decent value for money run on the mill Chinese.

On holiday and decided to try . I ordered a chicken dish. The chicken is very plastic and strange in texture, it’s taste was worse. I picked the chicken out of the dish and ate the vegetables and sauce , which was average at best. My husband ordered a beef dish, the beef was ok but a bit chewy, and the dish edible but nothing special.

On our last night of holiday we decided to get takeaway and as the wok and spice was closest we went there and to be honest I wish we hadn't wasted our money. We had the special meal for two and the only thing which was edible was the prawn crackers and the fried rice. The chicken Thai curry resembled sick and tasted of nothing but salt, the special foo yung had the strangest of taste and smell even the dog refused to eat it. Probably the worst takeaway we've ever had

Btw I'm such a picky eater and I've ordered from wok spice on a regular basis! Popped into the shop tonight on my way home from work with my partner for three separate meals my partner ordered and I ordered for my sister, then it came to me I asked what he would recommend bareing in mind I normally order fried rice with peas and bbq sauce and I'm not good with nothing to spicy and he tried to guide me best he could bless him in the end i told him I really liked the chow main but it has to much chicken for my taste I prefer more veg and noodle than chicken, in anything I prefer less meat as im not a meat big meat eater. Well... tonight has been the best chow main I've ever eaten in my life. Thank you so much for listening to me go on and on and making my chow main to my own exact taste! I work in a take away Nd know exactly how much of a pain in the arse I must have seemed but truly am grateful

i have a caravan a short walk from this carry out . I have always found them quick and consistently good. Only ever collected as only 5min walk . Staff very friendly.

The food served for takeaway is quickly prepared and always good Plenty choices from the menu and good choice for set meal menu

Called early in the evening (about 5.30pm) for a take away to be delivered. After hour it hadn't arrived. After 2 further phone calls and some obvious excuses the meals finally arrived. Driver got little tip (blood sugar too low at that point). When checking contents discovered a missing item. My invalid father wasn't amused I can tell you. I drove out to the premises to complain got the missing item easily enough with an apology but little else. Food was of acceptable quality but nothing special. Moral is order there or by telephone but pick up to ensure you get what you ordered.

Literally just call for a delivery and got the nicest man on the phone! Not acyually received my food yet but just wanted to say how nice he was 🤷‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Excellent service. The quickest ever encountered. Great food and friendly staff. it is well situated on the side of the main road and has good opening times. The menu is varied with a number of different dishes that I have not seen before on usual carry out menus. Grewat for teying new flavours.

After 3 hours the food eventually arrived. it was cold and the driver said he had been called out when he wasn't on call. Really bed outcome.If you dont have the staff dont promise the time and stop letting regulars down

Have had food from this takeaway before and the food was ok, edible anyway. Not so this evening. Three out of 4 of us could not eat the ‘chicken’. Discussion and dubiety ensued as to whether it was chicken or not. I, for one, was not convinced. Won’t be back

Two out of three chicken dishes ordered were not chicken! Note the sign outside and the menus extolling the virtues of ostrich meat. Well that (I hope!) was what they substituted for chicken. Rest of meal for six of us was to a good standard but personally wouldn't go back nor recommend it.

Excellent meal for us all.better food than the campsite restaurant well recommended only got one thing wrong sauce on my special fried rice after asking for no sauce but meal was delish

We stayed in Elie for the weekend as a family , there was 10 of us , this was the only chinese takeaway nearby , the food was made quickly and wasnt too bad not the greatest , chicken is very processed and curry sauce watery but not bad.

First time I have tried this place. Usually stay in Anstruher. Tried here. Phoned in order and very clear and helpful. Collected in 15 mins as they promised. They are, however, still charging 50p for using your debit card! You are no longer allowed to charge for using your card as from 13 Jan, 2018. The guy who served me said he hadn't been told about the charged being scrapped yet, but was aware of it! Would go back for the food but would refuse to pay the card fee if he tried to charge me!

Had a takeaway for 10 people. Everyone enjoyed their food! Been a few times when staying in East Neuk for New Year and always been good

Rude telephone service for ordering a delivery. We ended up collecting the food and wished we hadn't bothered. Meat was questionable and sauces were thick and gloopy without flavour. A very poor meal, would not recommend.

We order from Wok and Spice usually once a month and have found the food to be consistently good. Delivery is quick and never had items incorrect or missing, the Chinese roast pork chow mein is especially good but avoid the chicken.

I am trying to not be too harsh but I am really struggling. Note that I generally do not post negative reviews as you will see but this was really really bad. I am genuinely shocked that others here say this is 'the best Chinese' etc etc.

Food service top nosh .....food was delivered with in the time and piping hot and taste was just out of this world we where party of 5 and everyone said it was superb.

Truly the best take away we've been to. You have to go and have anything with ostrich, it is beautiful and tender. It is really nice to be able to see the chefs prepare and cook the food in a clean kitchen and not just be handed a bag from behind a greasy curtain. I had the Ostrich Raffle (chilli and garlic noodles) it was amazing and have already told someone in Falkland to go and have it as well as friends back up in Aberdeen. The wok and Spice is a must every time we are down in Fife.

Waited 2 I/2 hours to be told on our second phone call that our food hadnt even been cooked yet....

We ordered and had slot of difficulty communicating. My husband waited outside our property for over an hour so the delivery driver could see him. Despite this and giving our postcode, our food didn't arrive. Very unimpressed.

Called earlier this evening to place an order, had 3 basic meals (not a big deal) at around 7:30pm after an hour and a half we called to check on our order, and we're rudely told it was on its way, another hour went by so we called back up and we're told "it left 45 minutes ago to be delivered" and when expressing that we were unhappy with the service we were hung up on!

Ordered on a Sunday at 5.20 expecting to wait possibly an hour but after 1.5 hours I called them back to be told" He's away delivering but I'll cook yours now, it'll be there in 20 minutes." A full 45 minutes later it arrived. I asked for a discount as we had waited 2 hours and 15 minutes. We were told he couldn't do anything about it so I told him to take it back. A £36 order and they couldn't give a dam. We've had to wait a while before but thats a joke. Won't be back!!!

Read some mixed reviews on here before deciding to stray from our tried and tested take-out in St Andrews when we visit the East Neuk.Positives; meals were prepared astonishingly quickly so much so I thought I was leaving with someone else's order. Lots of fresh vegetables used in dishes and seemed good value for money, under £20 for three meals...Negatives; two very bland meals, we struggled to identify which was satay and which was Tom yum. The chicken had a very watery / gelatinous consistency and every bite felt like a game of potential Russian roulette. I was fed up dissecting and inspecting each piece so didn't risk it anymore and gave up half way through. The third meal was a chow mein which was decent enough....overall almost half of our meals ended up in the bin. Free prawn crackers were provided, but were quite different in taste and consistency to any others I have ever tried.Have to take issue with other reviews stating ' best Chinese in Scotland' disagree, more like best Chinese in St Monans. Another claimed they would make a 130 mile round trip especially from Glasgow for a meal....wow...more money and time than culinary sense there! Perhaps we were just unfortunate with our choice of meals as others have enjoyed theirs more than we did ours, however, not prepared to be disappointed again so won't return.

My family and I arrived in Elie for the weekend and stopped here at about 18:45 on a Friday night. We only waited about 10 mins, 15 max for our food. The food was delicious and great value for money. 2 sweet and sour chickens, pork sweet and sour, king prawn curry, 4 x rice all for £25. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area and looking for a take out.

Our first visit to the beautiful St Monans was a let down in the food department. Our first night of stay we decided to get a curry from this establishment but unfortunately it was an extreme let down. The place was busy and the food did smell nice but the chicken curry was the worst we had ever eaten. The chicken was like square shaped and as for the curry sauce, it was more like a soup texture and awful taste and we've had hundreds of curries in all different places but nothing like what we were served there.Only one bubble as the chips were the only item worth eating!Need to up their standards when it comes to making an edible curry!!!

Had a takeaway from here in April and the food was excellent. Would deff go back. Fast and friendly service.

On the way up to our sons family in Crail we dropped in to pick up a carryout. I must say they have a huge menu to pick from .The shop and kitchen is open plan so you can see your food being prepared . We dropped in just before 5.00pm and just got in before the rush .There is a very small waiting area and some customers had to wait outside on their orders . Obviously a well used by locals and travellers alike . The food was superb and only took 6 minutes to cook as we were the 1st ones in the shop

This is a regular for us, yummy spring rolls, little and loads. Sweet & sour is lovely with big chunks of pineapple. Good sized portions. Delivers to Elie, but can take a while so plan an hour for delivery.

Ordered a taka way as we were staying in st monans. It took an hour to come and when it did it was luke warm. Not too impressed!

We were on holiday in St Monans for 4 nights this week and had two meals delivered from Wok&Spice. They were delivered quicker than we could ever have anticipated and the food was piping hot and lovely! Excellent, would recommend highly!!!

Never disappointed with the quality of food .... cooked fresh in front of you... I wouldn't go anywhere else.

After meeting a Scottish person outside the establishment I learned that "bogin" is Scottish for awful. My word, that's so true for the food here. Burned and reheated fried rice, dodgy chicken and a sauce that was gluey and an odd colour. Stay away!

Now I must for the benefit of fairness, start by saying I have no scientific or medical evidence to support what I am about to state, but I know when something has gone awry with my body and I can usually pinpoint the cause.I ordered three meals from this establishment on xmas eve and I must confess I really enjoyed my special curry as did my wife hers, but I wasn't so keen on the chicken szechuan I polished off that my daughter left.About 3 hours after eating the meals both my daughter and I came down with severe diarrhoea. Hers was short term, but mine continued throughout the night and has continued into Xmas Day and I'm not sure as I write this, whether I will be able to leave our hired cottage to go for xmas dinner.I strongly suspect the Szechuan was the culprit as my wife suffered no ill effects. We watched the meals being cooked and they did seem to be cooked quicker than the time we have experienced in other carry outs.May have been a one off but only fair to warn you.

The Wok & Spice have an extensive menu to choose from and we have found the standard consistently very high. The Special Fried Rice is my favourite but we have enjoyed everything we've tried so far. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the waiting time is very short. Highly recommended.

Excellent little Chinese carry-out with a very wide ranging menu. The ostrich was delicious. Easy parking for collection and speedy, pleasant service.

This little gem of Chinese takeaway was a brilliant find. Food was fresh and tasty and you could see it being cooked. Kids got a lollipop and were made to feel special. Prices are good-would highly recommend

Ordered food at half 7 for delivery was told 40 minutes which seemed reasonable only to fone a hour later to be told it was goin to take another hour so 2 hours later get the food and never even got an apology totally rubbish customer service and will never eat from there again

Seemed popular by the amount of people going in. Thought we would give it a go whilst on holiday. Young girl on the till looked vacant and was more interested in using her phone than serving customers.Ordered chicken thai curry and a spicy chicken dish with fried rice. Actually smelt quite nice but thats where it ended. Don't know if the chicken had been boiled or dragged out of a washing machine mid cycle? Vile in consistency and taste, neither of us could eat it. We actually wondered if in fact it was actually chicken? Even the dog turned up his nose! Complete waste of money.

Fresh friendly and a good wee takeaway! Staff were polite and busy at all times-were good with the kids and a sweetie to keep them occupied while we waited! Food was a good high quality and we all enjoyed as well as visiting a couple of times while on holiday! Good selection of meats to chose from for your dishes! Ordered a meal for delivery and were very pleased with the speed of delivery, the food taste and the portion size. Unfortunatley when we asked for the delivery we were not told there would be a charge for our area which came as an unwelcome surprise as we are not very far away. Will use again as a takeway though!

Ordered a takeaway for eight people which was ready within ten minutes! Never known service so quick. Lemon chicken to die for and couldn't fault any of the other dishes

In all honesty the food here is more than reasonable . However no more than 6 people can fit inside it's tiny interior and its often a case of order and get out and join the masses in the car park whilst other people try to order. Once you have fought your way inside you still have a wait as the phone constantly rings. The food at the end kinda makes it worthwhile. But curry wise remember that this is not a chinese but malaysian so the curry is sweet tasting with a spicy after kick

We had 3 different meals that were edible but not up to the standard of other similar places we have used at home or on holiday. The beef was really tough and chewy and the chicken seemed to be the cooked frozen breast kind you get in supermarkets.The rice was very good and the chips were freshly fried. Good selection of vegetables in the dishes and a free portion of prawn crackers came with the food. Was OK but I would not use it again.

Have now had 2 meals from Wok & Spice and really enjoyed both. Great variety of dishes including some not found on the vast majority of takeaway menus. Service is speedy and the staff are very friendly. Definitely worth trying if you are in the area.

Had a good selection of dishes for our dinner from Wok and Spice! The best, Salt n pepper chicken was lovely but they need to review their recipe for Kung Po beef, this was not to our taste at all. Sweet instead of spicy, very odd flavour! Staff very nice and food piping hot.

Good range of menu with some unusual dishes- e.g. Ostrich. Always delivered hot and fresh although sometimes you can wait a while for delivery beyond the estimate.

I have been visiting the Wok and Spice for many years, since visiting Elie as a young child and more recently as it's just up the road from my Dad's house in St Monans. It is consistently one of the best Chinese takeaways I have ever been to. Food is cooked fresh to order, in front of your eyes if you go in to collect it. Menu is extensive, including the odd addition of Scottish-reared ostrich (highly recommend the ostrich chow mein!) Service is always friendly and it's very reasonable prices for the portion sizes and quality. Highly recommended to anyone staying locally who can't be bothered to cook! :D

If you are in St Monans you must go here, it is fun to watch your meal being prepared for you, prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. The variety in such a small place is astounding including ostrich if you dare
