Not made welcome even though we were a party of 14 all spending money

Great atmosphere n friendly pub.

Hannah is the dogs danglers, funny, hip, gets on great with all the punters - especially Terry. Serves with a smile on her face and especially knowledgable in 18 century french poetry. Merci beaucoup xxx

Now then. I can't fault the bar staff .... and perhaps I was very unlucky but visited the pub earlier this week at about 5pm. Goodness me! The patrons were certainly 'characters'. If they are typical clientele then this pub is to be avoided. It was like something out of the American Werewolf in London. If you're unfamiliar with the reference, they YouTube the scene in the Slaughtered Lamb.

Wonderful pub. Great characters and friendly faces. The highlight of this pub is the fantastic staff, the food cooked by Amanda was delicious. And the drinks served by Elenor and Hannah were perfect. Can’t praise it highly enough had a wonderful time in the beer garden.

Nice pub next to canal nice food slightly disappointed that only one hand pump was available.

Long wait for food. One lasagne burnt. Two lasagne barely warm. Bread burnt. Salad was just a handful of rocket placed on hot plate so immediately wilted. Food awful although Loaded chips were ok. Barmaid pleasant and helpful.

What an excellent place if you are in Lincoln visit. Great pub with atmosphere reasonable come for drinks but eat as well food great quality and well priced One of standouts was customer care as well especially by Ruby who went out way not only service but so polite and friendly. So if in Lincoln visit the Witch and Wadrobe you won’t be disappointed

Eleanor was amazing, did everything possible to make our time there as enjoyable as possible. It was only beaten by the fantastic food that Amanda cooked. Brilliant atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks.

We only went in for a drink, but were disappointed with the state of the inside. Old but not in a historic way. Which is a shame given the outside and location. There are much nicer pubs in Lincoln.

Unusualy for a Masons pub there did not seem to be any Management control and a great dependence of it being in a good position to attract customers. There was no Marston beer on tap, only one member of staff on duty who had to deal with serving drinks, taking food orders and waiting on table and dispite trying hard could not cope. Add to that there was only one clean wine glass and no gin glasses at all available it really was a bit of a joke. And don't expect a good meal, I am sure it is a local problem as I have been to excellent Marston pubs in Lincolnshire but this was bad.

Is a Marston's pub so you know what to expect from a selection perspective. That said, the pint of Pedigree I had was absolutely divine in terms of the temperature, pour and flavour so credit to the staff for getting the fundamentals spot on. Service was a bit slow but I could have just come in at a bad time. Staff very friendly and pleasant! Went in the beer garden at the rear but was confused if I could have gone out front and sat on the tables by the Witham as a sign said not to. I didn't try the food.

Had a coffee in The Witch And Wardrobe last week and was pleasantly surprised. I hasn't been in the pub for years. In another life The Witch was the opening act in many a night of alcohol fueled fun. My judgement was clouded by those nights all those years ago. Nowadays my kids are the same age as I was when I was tumbling to and from the bar. However, lunchtime on a Wednesday and the pub was welcoming, clean and tidy and very comfortable indeed. The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our coffee before we headed off, all rested up. By the way, it was fantastic back in the day. It's just as good today though for totally different reasons.

Called in for a drink on the way to the theatre. I was served by Ruby, who was very chatty and made me feel very comfortable.

What a cracking, quirky pub! Was greeted by Gemma who kindly sorted out a table for us and took our drinks order. After making our food order, she explained that Ruby would be taking over as her shift was about to finish and to call her if we wanted anything, which we did. She was also attentive. The food and drink was very good and reasonably priced, especially the drinks. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly. Would definitely return.

Pleasantly surprised, went with my family and we were served by Ruby who was lovely and welcoming, will definitely go again 🙂

Arrived with a group of mates to be greeted by Amanda. Very helpful and pleasant. Tables reserved and drinks got we sat down. Amanda then went from the bar to cook our dinner and was replaced by an equally very pleasant and helpful Hannah. Steak and ale pie was delicious. We then pondered desserts. Mentioned apple pie to Hannah who vanished off to the kitchen, and came back with the amazing news Amanda was going to make us apple crumble. What great service. Seven of us enjoyed this great service and very nice it was thanks.

Calls itself a village pub in the city centre and I thinks that is a very reasonable claim. Went there twice on a recent break and it was clearly frequented by locals on both occasions but they were friendly and welcoming as were the staff that served us. It’s certainly a no-frills pub with no gimmicks and none the worse for that. Would most definitely visit again if in Lincoln. Beer was good and there is a jukebox on which some great tunes were being banged out. Two very pleasant visits.

Looks like an "old man pub" from the outside. There are clearly regulars, but friendly to outsiders, child friendly during daytime too. Comfortable, great prices compared to Cosy Club/Botanist, a literal gem on Lincolns canalside.

Great atmosphere, had some lovely fish and chips. Lovely staff, I think her name was Hannah who was particularly friendly.

Called in here for a couple of drinks I think it's a punk bar very friendly staff and locals . Nice bar . Right beside the river had my favorite drink neckoyl too

This pub has a really great atmosphere and we come in every week. The staff behind the bar are always friendly and up for a good laugh. Hannah normally serves us and remembers our order. She's brilliant always go above and beyond

Wonderful little hole in the wall pub. I will be coming back as I think I found my favorite place now... and they were not serving food when I got here, so I am going to have to come back and try the food.

Popped in the Witch and Wardrobe for a drink, it is a lovely old building next to river in centre of Lincoln, ended up staying for nite to eat. Staff were lovely and friendly and next time we are down we will definitely visit again. ❤️

Fantastic place, great food and drink, I especially like the grazing boards. Dog friendly as well. Close to the town centre along the river. Staff are welcoming and accommodating. Very competitively priced and worth a visit whatever the occasion.

We popped in for a light lunch and was not disappointed, Lovely friendly atmosphere, Gemma the lady who served us was lovely and welcoming I had the loaded tortillas with pulled pork which was delicious and hubby had the steak sandwich which he said was 'very tasty' cooked by Tess :) I had a glass of pinot (was a good one) and hubby had his usual a glass of Inch's, shall def return

We went to lincoln for weekend with friend's and had a fantastic time. We popped into the Witch and Wardrobe and had a sharing board for lunch which was great, the staff were lovely and pub is on side of water with seating outside really close to town centre, I would hughly recommend, 5 stars from me.

I came visiting from Scunthorpe to see my daughter, and was told by a friend that this was the only pub in Lincoln serving Mindgoblin IPA, my absolute favourite!. Unfortunately this wasn’t true, but the pub still had a great variety of drinks on offer!...

Old fashioned pub, and the staff are all really friendly and helpful in an unpushy way. Young guy working was rely great and nothing seemed to much trouble so big thank you. We both had the steak sandwich and cheaps which were really nice and...

I refer the management to the review I originally posted on 25th June 2023. On revisiting the premises again as promised I have found that there has been very little change. I strongly feel that the management may have the ability to run the premises...

Yes it was a brilliant night and staff are friendly and helpful and polite towards us customers and regulars enjoyed themselves .

Nice pub near the river. There are tables in the front and a small courtyard to the rear of the pub. The staff are friendly and the food comforting. Prices are pretty reasonable.

Went on a Friday night bar staff not very cheerfull must have been having a bad day !!

If you want a quiet drink it's not for you but if you like a lively pub give it a try. Didn't have any food.

A good little pub along the waterside, if you know where it is 😁 Nice friendly staff who served some good beer - even with a broken arm 😁 The TV was on but no sound, but still managed to watch the rugby. There were several areas inside to sit and about four tables outside by the water, very nice in the sunshine for a quiet pint 😁

The fish and chips were right up there with the best Ive ever had in Lincoln but at a fraction of the cost. The Chef came out and asked us about the meal and was friendly and sociable. Great little venue with an olde world...

Great location on the river just away from the city centre. Didn’t eat , sat outside for a couple of beers. Staff were helpful, the facilities need a wizards touch.

Haven't been in here for good few years but decided to go for lunch whilst up town as under new management AND we had lunch and the food was amazing.Deffinately our lunchtime venue now.

I went here with my Daughter who is gluten free, the chef was so accommodating and offered a range of options. He cooked her a curry which she said was lovely. I had the roast beef Sunday lunch and it was stunning. Would definitely return...

If you're going to advertise a duck race to start at 1400, then it would be nice to not start it 20 minutes early. Four disappointed kids, so thanks. Looks like it would have been fun to be a part of.

Situated in a great location in the centre of Lincoln City. Bar staff were very pleasant when ordering drinks. The food experience was not so good. Food took a long time to come. The starters and main meals all came together (which was not requested, and staff never informed us it would come this way). It was all very disappointing and we would not eat here again. Management needs to review food delivery and overall quality, which was average at best.

Outrageous someone who thinks they can buy chips elsewhere and eat on their premises even though they bought drinks, when the pub serves their own gorgeous chips and meals And management here are lovely As for flies outside that’s out of their control just go inside if that’s the case don’t slate them Great pub friendly team good food And no I do not work here Hate seeing businesses being slated When your experience is nothing but good for this pub

We only stopped for a quick drink when visiting the town centre. Inside the pub was quirky and the opened up staircase was a nice touch.

I had the pleasure of visiting this pub and was truly blown away by the warm welcome from the landlady and landlord. Their genuine hospitality created a fantastic atmosphere that instantly made me and my family feel like regulars. The food was absolutely amazing! Each dish was a burst of flavor, clearly prepared with care. A delightful experience all around, thanks to the welcoming hosts and the mouthwatering food.

Very cosy and comfortable pub with good food and very welcoming staff. All the right aspects of a typical English pub. Would recommend 👍
