Wishing Star in Shropshire

This is one of the best chinese takeaways I've ever used. I travel 10 miles to get there . Always lovely food ,plenty of it and at a very good price .

Food was practically inedible. Noodles looked ‘old’ and re heated. Salt and pepper chips were wet, slimy, most of the chips were black / green. Chicken balls were saturated in a thick greasy batter which had a few wet layers. The joy and sour soup literally smelt like sick ? Was off? My husband said the worst he’s ever had. The worst food from a takeaway we have had for years! Won’t return at all.

I ordered a chicken shezuarn which was inedible as it was a sweet and sour chicken with undercooked chicken, the cashier insisted it was the right meal so I asked her to dispose of it , the chicken curry was also undercooked (pink) and the curry sauce was awful. We will not be returning to this takeaway . Also I don’t like the cash only system????

This is a busy Chinese Takeaway in the heart of the town. The portions are very generous and prices competitive. We especially enjoyed the chicken and mushrooms in black bean sauce. A couple of tips 1) This is a cash only business so make sure you have some, there are cash machines nearby if you forget. 2) It does get busy at peak times so I would recommend placing your order in advance by telephone to avoid a wait.

Was lovely food my daughter went it and came back with no change they us wrong order over charged me

Beautiful fresh food but the curries are way too salty and the chips are awful, such a shame it lets them down!

Great food, quick and very tasty. Price is the best around will be coming again. Had the beef curry and fried rice best I’ve had for a long time

The flavour in the food at this Chinese is brilliant, the only thing holding back a 5 star review is the chips are often cooked so many times they are mostly hollow! Please sort this out! It's a shame to have such nice food and awful chips!

We have always visited Wishing Star and not had a complaint however we then tried their crispy duck and it was pretty awful, not crispy and very slimy. If you don't want the duck give them a visit!

The food was lovely, large portions and would definitely recommend. Friendly staff. Cash only though.

Without a doubt the best Chinese in the Telford area. Full of flavour, excellent value for money. Shame they didn't deliver.

We had a very large takeaway order for a family party. All food was piping hot when we got it home which is 15 minutes away. Lots of different dishes, all cooked to perfection. The prawn toast was lovely, as was chow mein, both vegetable and chicken varieties. Lovely Chinese curry and steak in black bean sauce was cooked to perfection also. Highly recommend and will definitely use again.

Ordered beef and mushroom curry, chicken and mushroom in black bean sauce rice and chips I have put some curry away for the next days dinner! Great food great service with piping hot food.... Use again? Most definitely!

Amazing! Lots of sauce with the mains which normally in other places it’s just full of extra veg! Never any issues.

Really enjoy their meals but don't go every week simply because of the insane amount of salt they use. Every time we go we have a night of severe thirst. Food quality is great but please reduce the salt

100% the best Chinese I’ve ever had, including both restaurants and takeaways. The service is quick, staff are always friendly and polite, the food portions are decent sizes & taste so fresh and delicious. I recommend the salt and pepper chicken

Bet Chinese Iv ever had! Visited a few times as was working away from home it was by at best food I’d ever had! Lovely customer service and food was ready promptly!

Have always used wishing star but the last twice the food has been well below average. Far too much salt resulting in the last lot ending up in the bin. A shame really.

Great takeaway, our favourite in Shifnal. Food always piping hot and tasty. The duckling dishes are particularly good.

Third visit to this takeaway great food with a warm and friendly smile, would highly recommend all food was freshly prepared and the meat and produce were not frozen Kung poo beef was hot and spice and did not disappoint

Very average food, can't pay unless cash, hmmmmmm, food is not great. There is a better alternative 100 yards up the road. Don't go - save yourself the pain!

Yo no como llevar muy a menudo y en la que rara ocasión han tendido a usar Minhs, mi plato favorito es el curry de pato chino. Hace un par de noches estaba fuera con un amigo para unos tragos, él estaba llamando a la que desean estrellas en el camino a casa, así que decidí acompañarles con él en vez de llamar a Minhs. La primera diferencia evidente que era el precio. £5. 60 en contraposición a los 8 libras. 60 pago de Minhs. La segunda diferencia evidente que era el gusto, inmensurablemente mejor que Minhs y, finalmente, la cantidad real y la calidad de la carne en el curry al menos el doble de currys Minhs, cuya salida siempre están acolchadas con cebollas, champiñones y pobre calidad de carne. Estoy sólo lamentamos no descubrir esta joya poco antes. Que deseen estrellas en todos los aspectos.

House special chowmain was amazing. Spare ribs were also tasty. Chips were not greasy and prawn crackers were fresh. Good value friendly staff. Very clean take away.

Had some awful meals here but it's local so keep going ordered food Said ten mins should of told me why food was warmed up just awful

This is my favourite takeaway by a mile. The food is alway hot and very tasty. The crispy chilli chicken is amazing. The staff are always polite and welcoming.

Always used Jade House in Shifnal before but decided to give it a go, the Cantonese Sweet n Sour Chicken is lovely, although it is a very bright colour and the Barbecued Pork Chow Mein is very tasty, it could do with a bit more sauce

Always get a good hot meal from here, but it does depend on the chef of the day. Tend to put a lot of onions in everything but still usually good value.

Yo soy muy exigente en lo que se refiere a la comida. Los que deseen estrellas no me decepcionó, la comida estaba caliente y sabroso ... son muy complacientes tanto si tienes cualquier necesidades de alimentos (no como gambas o champiñones) y estaban dispuestos a hacer una comida con!)

Friday night is take-away night and the best around is The Wishing Star. I really like vegetables and you only have to ask and they will make up anything to order. My favourite is mixed vegetable in lemon sauce with fried rice. Friendly service and great value for money. Enjoy!

This place, despite being collection only (I think delivery could be organised), is absolutely fantastic, the staff are really friendly and the food is always yummy, the portions sizes are huge, and not too greasy. If you're looking for a tasty snack and you don't mind visiting the beautiful little town of Shifnal definitely pop by. So So Good!!!

Never been disappointed meals are excellent . Good choice and friendly staff. All the dishes are excellent with free prawn crackers as well .

The food is so nice here now and the lady in the till is very friendly. Not too greasy, very salty although I suppose this is what you expect.

We've had takeaways from here for many years and although the business has changed hands during this time the quality of the food and speed of service remain high. The chicken in hot and spicy sauce is particularly good.

After numerous visits to different Chinese/ Cantonese takeaways around Telford and surrounding areas, I always find myself back at Shifnal's Wishing Star. I miss Steve, the old owner. But the food is still up to a really good standard. Great prices. Great menu. Great food. I used to live in Shifnal so I used this a lot but now I travel from Trench and still worth traveling the 6 mile. It's cheaper than Minhs and as good.

been coming here for years now and can say every time the food had been amazing. This is a Chinese with a very good menu to choose from. Lots of takeaways around shifnal but this is the best. Decent portion sizes and good value for money. Well worth a visit ;)

Following a family bereavement, I happened to visit 'Wishing star', and found that the service is impeccable, the food is brilliant.. Friendly, what more could you ask for <3 :)))

We use this place about once a week. Very friendly and efficient young lady serving, tasty food well packed. Prices reasonable. Very good takeaway.

Tried a number of local Chinese takeaways and thankfully found Wishing Star to be streets ahead on quality and value! The staff are really friendly and there's never a long wait for food.

Used to love this Chinese but the last couple of times the food has not been as nice- quite greasy. There also used to be a man on the desk who was friendly but now there is a woman who doesn't talk to you unless she's shouting your order at you! Shame might have to change to the other Chinese in the village.

Always greeted with a smile from Steve at Wishing Star, only Chinese I will buy from. Great value for great Chinese food.

Wishing Star is centrally placed next to Odfellows 'wine bar' (expensive pub/restaurant with airs and graces, really), and serves a wide range of Chinese food for takeaway. Decent portion sizes of good qualty food, nothing special but perfectly acceptable.

We regularly eat from this takeaway. The food is excellent and the service is efficient and extremely friendly.Highly recommended.

We started ordering food from here when the rival chinese takeaway kept messing up our order and not apologising. Never looked back, lovely food, reasonably priced good service and friendly.

I really cant say how many times I have eaten food from here! It is easily the best takeaway in shifnal by far and Im not the only one who thinks this. The majority of people in shifnal eat from here and my own dad drives 20 miles just to get food from here its that good. Steve is a fantastic server/host and is friendly to every single person who comes through his door. Food is tasty and perfect each and every time! I strongly recommend a visit!
