Wish You Were Here in Southend-on-Sea

Anson Court Care Home Review. We visited Southend-On-Sea yesterday with residents/family members and staff. unfortunately we were let down very last minute from another restaurant. Wish you were here was literally our live saver, trying to find somewhere last minute for 34 people is not easy. Jade, Lee and Lacey were just wonderful and they couldn't of been anymore helpful. As a big group with lots of wheelchairs we literally took over the whole restaurant. The food and service was amazing and we couldn't of asked for anymore. Once again ladies, thank you so much. We will definitely be back :-)

All I can say is wow the staff here are amazing the food was spot on and not over priced we was a family of 2 adults 2 children and can honestly say over the 2 day stay at Southend this was the place to go for us. Its abit out of the way from the all the attractions but that was fine as our hotel was abit further out first night we found this gem the food was fantastic and on the rest of our stay we did go other places but this was by far the best inside for breakfast on the last day of our stay it was the most cleanest place we enjoyed every moment. I believe its a family run business but will defo come here again in the future food was spot on and portion size was fantastic thankyou.

Beautiful uninterrupted view over the Thames estuary - Seaview - very very clean award winning loo - accessible - roomy - also do cream teas and lovely ice cream - independent business - first class staff - will return

Went here yesterday with my bf and for our food time at Wish you were here. It was a great experience. The decor is amazing and the table we had had a great view of the sea and the pier. The food was so nice and fresh. I had the ham salad and my bf had chicken nuggets and chips and beans and we both loved the food. The service was really good and the staff members were great. Completely recommend if your in the area after a great walk. Solid 5/5

Great friendly staff. Lovely fish & chips in superbly kept environment. Do not expect cheap & cheerful here .. it's all about quality and you get what you pay for.

Very rude service. Manager ruined our night without hesitation from beginning till end, she was very rude. Won't go back there and won't recommend it to anyone. Price of eat-in very high too.

We ended up coming here by chance after other places were fully booked, I didn’t even realise they did dine in. The food was very reasonably priced and tasty. Everyone was happy with their dinners. After our meal we were allowed to stay for the fireworks and had the most perfect view. They turned off the lights so we could see them without the reflections in the windows. We couldn’t have asked for a better spot! Why stand in the cold when you can have dinner and watch from the window?! I was very impressed to find they have a disabled accessible toilet, it was also the cleanest toilet I had found all day! When big places like Kingpins don’t even have basic disabled access, it’s fantastic that such a small place has put in facilities.

The staff including the manager is rude and absurd. I was here with my wife and daughter and had two fish and chips meals and they refused to give my youngest a spare fork 🍴 unbelievable!!!

Not been here for a few years (pre Covid). Fish and chips were just as good as we remembered them. The location and view were very good. Staff are helpful and happy. Only negative, the onion rings were a bit greasy. Would recommend the fish and chips and woukd return.

We stumbled upon this place on a very miserable new years eve lunchtime. Thankully the greeting from the staff was a lot more welcoming than the weather. The cafe/restaurant itself is very light, bright, clean and fresh with a well looked after toilet. My family all had burgers, chips and nuggets which were very nice and I had cod and chips. The fish was big, with a good crispy batter while the chips were chunky, crisp on the outside but soft inside, perfect. I washed it down with a cup of tea. I'd imagine the location sells this place in the tourist season but what I've mentioned sells it even on grim days

We had a portion of chips, onion rings and curry sauce from here when visiting the beach and everything was bang on taste. It looked hygienic and very friendly and polite customer service. Affordable and quick food. £4 for a large portion of nice crispy chips. you can't go wrong with that. I'll visit again whenever in the area.

Went here for dessert - wow what a friendly run place and the owner so nice and warm. Desserts were amazing and place is kept real clean

Super friendly family run cafe, during an evening stroll we stopped for some doughnuts 🍩 chefs kiss compliments to the chef they’re were delicious :) fast service and tasted amazing :) highly recommend

We held a charity bike ride from London for BOSP, finishing at Wish You Were Here. Some of the other local places did not wish to accommodate such large numbers of cyclist, where as the staff here were welcoming, the food was fresh and tasted great. All the riders (including those who were wet from the rain) were made to feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. When the sun eventually came out, you also got to appreciate the views from their restaurant. I will definitely pop in again with the family this time.

Friendly staff and good fish and chips, the waffles, ice cream and Biscoff Sauce was tremendous. The venue is new and clean and it is a great location right on the beach.

We walked along the seafront and found this pace by accident. It is immaculately clean and the staff are lovely! Food was very good and cooked to order. Def recommend and this will be our first choice next time we visit Southend.
