Winning Post in Richmond upon Thames

Quite disappointed in the steak I was served today. I know I asked for well done however it was burnt on a good proportion. We weren't asked if everything was ok with our meal either. Don't expect this for the price.

I came here with my family, I ordered the Signature Burger and it did not disappoint. Super flavorful beef, melty cheese, and fresh toppings stacked just right. The bun was soft but sturdy, and the sauce tied everything together with a nice savory kick. You can tell care went into building this burger, nothing felt thrown together. Definitely one of the better burgers I’ve had in a while. Jack was great too, he was super friendly and made sure everything was perfect. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!

I came here with my partner and our two year old today, as soon as we walked in we was greeted by a really lovely, friendly lady, as we sat down she came over to us almost straight away to take our orders for drinks. The service was so fast, the food was delicious, and the portion sizes were big which was great! We then had another two staff members come over with lovely customer service. So polite and checking if everything was good. Which it was. They all also made my two year old smile, everyone really was so lovely and accommodating. The atmosphere was so calm and welcoming. We are definitely going to recommend this place🤍

Wow, the Steaks are amazing, the Katsu Chicken was also very tasty, staff are fantastic very attentive, nothing was to much trouble for them, Will be back again

As usual staff are brilliant, kind, helpful but half the stuff was off the menu due to Mother’s Day had to have roast each and the potatoes were definitely frozen roasties they wasn’t nice at all , no cauliflower cheese (make enough to last) it was 6pm ánd they said every table was booked for the evening so they was expecting a lot more diners for the evening settings .. usually so much better I appreciate it was busy but to let food standards drop that much isn’t good

We had a table for 20 and Sharon looked after us superbly. Food was great and Sharon was brilliant at looking after such a big group like us. Will definitely be back.

It was a great experience. Everyone was very friendly. They were hosting a party in another area that finished before ourselves and everyone was extremely happy. We were 6 people. 4 adults and 2 children

Arrived here on Saturday afternoon for a 2 night stay in Premier inn next door. Great selection of beers and lagers. Breakfast was good on Sunday morning and the staff were great, Sharon in particular was very polite and helpful with local knowledge of the area. Would definitely recommend this pub for a few drinks or an all night stop with food

Came for some food with my friends, chicken sharer and the burgers were amazing, service from Beth and Jacqui was great, they had the rugby on too, always a bonus!!

We had booked for lunch, prior to visiting Twickenham Stadium. There was a special lunch menu available, only. I opted for the gammon and pineapple with chips. The service was super speedy and the food was piping hot. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a fresh pineapple wedge on top of my gammon, rather than the usual ring of tinned pineapple. The gammon itself was amazing and not an ounce of fat on it. The only slight downside was having to drink out of plastic cups but I guess that's a sign of the times. Highly recommended and would definitely visit again if we are in the area.

£9 for a child's sprite and a coke both full of ice and lemon. What a total and utter rip off. Then got told.they do a limited menu of rugby days. Shame Premier inn didn't tell us that. Paid our rip off drinks and left

Had my wife’s birthday party here, absolutely amazing staff, every detail catered for, pre ordered the food so no one missed out on there food choices, staff caring and attentive, everyone enjoyed the meals and reasonably priced drinks were also well priced thank you Kerry and the team for making my wife’s birthday special, if I were to make one recommendation it would be some background music but thank you all fantastic day

On Friday 28th February 2025, I had my sons wake in the breakfast room at the winning post. The food was outstanding and the staff were exceptional and very professional. I cannot thank the staff and management for the support and hospitality that were shown to me and my family. Thank you everyone. I would recommend this place for any function that you might need. Fantastic Pre & Post-Match Spot – Great Food & Atmosphere! We stopped at The Winning Post for drinks before the England Rugby game in the Six Nations and enjoyed the warm, relaxed atmosphere. After England’s victory over Scotland, we headed back, and it was the perfect place to celebrate. I shared the Tomahawk steak with my wife, and it was cooked to perfection—full of flavour and beautifully done. The food was top-notch, and the whole experience was enhanced by the welcoming vibe and great service. Whether you’re stopping in for a few drinks or a meal, The Winning Post is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back!

The food was great, very filling, but the squid was tastless, The atmosphere was great , and the staff were mazing. I would recommend it to my families and friends.

Popped in for a meal and dessert with my 13yo boy on our way to footy. We were served by Honey who was extremely welcoming and friendly. She helped us decide what food to have, checked up on us throughout, and was an all round great hostess. The food was top notch, great value for money, would 100% come back.

Held my 60th at the weekend couldn't fault staff service and food 35 people attended everyone was happy with the service I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Best birthday i have had thanks to the winning post xx

Visited for sunday lunch recently. Shown to our table by very friendly ladies and served quickly, the food arrived also very quickly given it was a busy sunday lunchtime. Food piping hot and very well presented. The staff are very friendly and helpful and we will be visiting again. Pleasant lunchtime.

The breakfast staff went out of their way to make sure everything was provided over the 3 days we staying, 9th, 10th and 11th January , especially on one day when we were the only guests. Breakfast was filling, well cooked and we had plenty of choice and extras. The waitress at breakfast was pleasant and particularly attentive.

Had lunch at The Winning Post today and it was really lovely - the food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were served by Justin who was very efficient and attentive and made dining there a real pleasure. There was also a meal deal offer for the lunchtime menu which made it even better and fantastic value for money - thank you!!

This time we had Steak, Wow cooked to perfection. Staff are amazing, helpful, the 0% alcohol drinks are amazing too, my favourite the Rum one. We will be back again

This pub is a total gem. Proper cozy vibes, super friendly staff, and the food? Unreal. It’s not just basic pub grub -> everything’s done right, from the stacked burgers to the solid veggie options. The drinks are spot on great beers, wines or even a great selection of soft drinks if that’s your vibe. The staff are legends, super chill but on it. If you want banging food and a proper good atmosphere, this is the place.

Was here for a funeral. Nice food. Good service. Quick staff. Only thing that was a little weird was lots of flies in the bathroom

After my last trip I just had to come back! Had the Katsu Chicken as a main and it was wonderful! Had a side of ciabatta to go with and that made the meal! Well done to all the staff and a special mention to Honey who was my excellent server. Keep up the good work guys!!!

Weeding went to friends wedding there thay got ripped off terribly with the food they paid £1000 for buffet was like kids party food few chips some dried up sandwiches and a small plate of chicken shameful about £100 wothr of food

My daughters wedding was here Saturday and the food was an absolute disgrace for a company called green King thousand pounds worth of food and it looked like £100 worth absolutely shameful shameful

My son had he's wedding reception there I would not recommend it to anyone who is having a wedding my son payed over 1000.00 on food and what he got was absolutely disgusting there was frozen chips which was stone cold sausage rolls which there was a small bit of sausage in there was more oinoin in it egg mayo sandwiches which was something that you would give to kids in a kinda garden jacket potatoes with no butter dry slices of bread burn oinoin rings and about 2 trays of chicken I'm sorry but for that sort of money you would expect more there was not even enough for all the guests that was there please don't waste your money having it there I will be posting it on every site I can find

I went into the public house with my guide dog puppy Harry, my intent was to enquire about holding a wake for my father who recently passed away. I was greeted at the bar by a young lad who said no dogs allowed in the pub, I asked to speak to a manager and tried to explain that Harry was a guide dog puppy, his reply was I am the manager, So with an attitude like that we left. Not the best welcome or experience in this establishment. I will look elsewhere for a venue.

Went there on New year's Eve party disco. Not enough bar staff for the amount of customers. We just made the most of the night.

Lovely meal with my partner. I had Creamy Mushroom Steak and Sundae. Partner had Soup Turkey and Sundae. Food hot tasty and our server Justin was very friendly and attentive. We were not rushed even though it was quite busy. 5☆.

We had an excellent continental breakfast with plenty of choice. We sat in a quiet eating area and we were well looked after by friendly Sharon.

Absolutely amazing visit, not once but twice on Saturday 28 December. Was very busy because of the rugby but food was exceptional and the staff were incredible. The steaks at lunchtime were cooked to perfection, the Malbec was sublime and the staff were friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We even went back again for our evening meal and you have to try the solo burger, didn’t miss the burger bun at all. If they can produce this quality of food and standard of customer care on a rugby weekend they are putting a lot of restaurants to shame. Could not fault them in anyway and would highly recommend.

I’ve been here twice. Once in September with a lot of friends/fanily, and again in December with my mum. The food is great and value for money. The staff are super helpful and polite. I met (staff) Beth in September and Sharon in December. Both of them added to the experience and made it enjoyable. Mum had steak (main menu) and I had salmon with squid as a starter (lunch menu), both of the mains were served on fairly large plates and I felt stuffed afterwards. They have all types of drinks, and it feels like a family friendly pub. So you can come in for a pint or sit down and have some dinner. Con: They don’t do takeaways.

Service from Honey was first class - prompt, efficient and made us feel that she cared. Food was excellent and we would definitely go to The Winning Post pre-rugby again.

We found the server really rude and sarcastic, and really didn't appreciate it, particularly as we were taking my elderly father, who has just been diagnosed with alzheimers, out for a meal. She really ruined the experience for us, and we will not be going back there.

Was staying at the adjacent hotel, arrived quite late but the team at the Winning post couldn’t have been Ben more helpful. Evening meal was great and well priced. The Winning Post hosted our wedding reception in October 2024, and we could not recommend it highly enough. Beth and her wonderful team were fantastic from planning stages up til the moment that we packed up the following day. The food was delicious, the service was faultless, and everyone commented on how seamless our event was. It's a fantastic space that is clean and welcoming, and is a blank canvass that you can add your own personality to. We want to give a particular shout out to Beth, who from the very start was completely transparent and organised - she made the whole day as stress-free as possible. We would definitely use the space again for any future events.

We came last night to celebrate our Works Christmas Party as you advertise your venue as the place to do so. However the hall was cold. Not one Christmas decoration, Tree or piece of Tinsel was to be seen. Not enough chairs for amount of people. The only thing associated with Christmas was the blouse that I was wearing. £25.00 per person 32 people so £800.00 you made by tickets plus the drinks we would have drank and for what..... We did enjoy our night the DJ was ok but as for everything else..........🎄🦌⛄️🎅🎉🥳

Dec 2024 My previous review (below) was from last year. Various circumstances have found me back twice in the last two months as I was in the area and catching up with my Uncle. It is even better than last year. The staff are fantastic at making you feel welcome and well at home, as well as providing great service and nice food and drink. Keep up the good work. ___________________ Very pleasant experience. Standard place to meet my uncle when I’m over from Australia. Always feel welcome in the pub with good service from the staff and very nice meals.

My husband and I ate at the Winning Post last night and our server was Jack. In fact I've been to the WP twice this week and each time we have been served by Jack who is so attentive, happy and chatty. Nothing is too much trouble for him. Every Greeneking needs a Jack

Had an absolutely perfect meal this evening ( Saturday ). Starter, main course and dessert. Really polite staff, great comfortable atmosphere. Chicken sharing platter, chicken wings were cooked to perfection. Steak also exactly as required. Good assortment of choice too. Definately going again.

What you’d expect from a chain pub (green King). Close to Whitton station and Twickenham stadium so pack on match days with great rugby atmosphere great for meeting up before and after games

Great rugby meeting pub with car park, just 10 minute walk to Twickenham stadium and avoids all the rugby crowds found in the cabbage patch etc !

Where to start, Xmas dinner the prawns in the prawn cocktail were very small and some still frozen, the veg in the main meal was frozen and tasteless. Turkey was fine, pigs in blankets were salty, Yorkshire pudding ok. All in all very disappointed will not be going back and definitely would not recommend.

Always a great experience. First time visiting alone, had an amazing burger and then loitered for a few hours and did some work, the team were lovely, checked in regularly but gave me space when I was on calls. Really calm, relaxed atmosphere during weekdays.
