Hi. What is wrong with your prevous advisors? I am an 86yo male and have not been to Wing Yip for FIVE years. After reading the various mails I was in doubt of going. HOWEVER , I DECIDED TO BE BRAVE! The journey from Bury to Manchester was a bit stop and go due to the road works being carried out on the A56. I continued and arrived at Wing Yip. Remembering the comments I drove into their car park on the ground floor and parked in a disabled bay putting my blue badge on the dashboard. The main sign stated that 90mins was the max stay time. No problem. I went into the store and checked the shelves for what I was looking for. Found it within 3 minutes. I then viewed the food fridges but found the prices had risen since my last visit. However, I found the staff to be just as efficient and helpful as I remembered. I accept the prices are higher than I remember, but that is reasonable due to the current increase in all prices over the last five years. For instance daily newpapers are much higher that they were five years ago. Being a pensioner and considering the current expectations, I kept my money in my account and purchased just what I had gone there for which are the same price as buying on the internet. I have decided that the 'nasty' mails which have been shown on the website are written by typical modern people who expect Chinese staff to clean the floor before they walk on it and clean the customers shoes, just to be sure! As I stated, the staff I spoke to were all as respectful and helpful as they possibly could be. I DO accept that I probably won't go there again in the near future simply because I can get the foods which I eat nowadays from stores nearer to where I live.

20 years of patronage spending £13000 to £20,000 on avg, each year with them, but their short sightedness has cost them a further client: For Joe and Jane Public: Be warned - the landowners here have a rather SNEAKY approach to earning money through fines on unaware drivers. - Do not even reverse into or manoeuvre into any of the disabled-bays (FINES applicable) - Downstairs, ground Floor car park is 90 mins limit (poorly advertised n signs oft hidden, behind odd stone pillars). - Upstairs, upper floors of car park, the limit is circa 4hrs ish mins (best be gone by 3hrs 30mins to be safe) Story: So in early May 2024, we attended a Chinese-Community event, attended and part hosted by the Lord Mayoress of Manchester (Yasmin Dar) and the Consul-General to China (Manchester office) as well as other trade associations heads and reps. Our event last circa 5 hours. From what we can gather after speaking with the organisers, many folks were caught out, incl plenty of the organisers by the demand for a £60 fine. **After Appealing the company responded within 24 hours to blag how "everything was above board" (not the experience of their victims, from other reviews)...something we expected...from the tone of Wing Yips client service staff ("err we dont really handle anything, it's the carp park management company that sorts this stuff out"). N.B The company blags an article from the High Court of a few years back, essentially saying: private car parking firms, are allowed to charge upto X amounts "as a deterrent". We were left with either going to the Indy adjudicator...or suing them via a lawyer (neither of which was appropriate in terms of the quantity of money involved)...we ended up paying the fine to close the chapter on this annoyance. It has however, cost the rather short sighted sons and daughters of the original founders of Wing Yip, a further client or several (as the organisers itself said they would not return to that venue at all, for the restaurant or Supermarket (WIng Yip). £60 shared 60/40 or so, between Wing Yip and the Parking Firm...I hope it was worth it..to lose another client (we started to understand better, why the place seemed much much quieter than the last time we went, 2-3 + years ago) who spent £13k + per year for the gain of £60 shared :)! Wont shop here again and looking at the other reviews...we're in good company :)

Visited the supermarket and spent a couple of hundred pounds stocking up. Took the kids to the restaurant and spent £70 on food. Got a £60 fine this morning for staying 29 minutes longer than the 90minutes allowed? There is only a single A4 size sign explaining this?

There is a restaurant Glamorous upstairs of Wing Yip. I went there on 25/2/24 for lunch with a friend of mine. Because we were going to do some shopping later, I parked downstairs for the ease of carrying the shopping. Today I received the parking penalty for £100 for doing so. I called Wing Yip. The woman told me "the car par upstairs has nothing to do with us. You only have 90 minutes to park downstairs. For restaurant, you should have parked upstairs. Call the restaurant if anything". So I did. The restaurant manager says "The entire building belongs to Wing Yip and Wing Yip is in charge of the car park" Wing Yip does not even show any understanding my circumstances. Above all, the restaurant was so cold and draughty that my friend and I ate with my overcoats on. And the standard of food went down over the years. I will not be going back. Horrible business. Despite the bad reviews, Wing Yip keeps its business alive because of the needs from Chinese takeaway businesses. What a shame..

Have bought some fresh groceries (Japanese pumpkins, water chestnut, arrow roots) a few days ago, and today have found that all these were rotten and having bad smell when trying to cook them. Have tried to call the store a few times but just got nobody answered the phone. I am wondering if the management has done any quality control on all your products before selling them. I would advise Wing Yip customers to avoid buying fresh groceries or go somewhere else to save yourself being disappointed.

I am absolutely compelled to share my recent, disheartening experience at the Wing Yip Superstore in Manchester, hoping to prevent others from falling into the same traps we did. Firstly, let me warn you about the shockingly high prices - prepare to be taken aback by how much more you'll pay for items that are reasonably priced elsewhere. It's as if they're capitalizing on the lack of nearby competition, and it's simply unjustifiable. But the real kicker? The car park scam. Imagine our surprise when we were slapped with a £100 parking ticket during our visit, a clear exploit of loyal customers simply looking to shop. This, combined with the store's lack of cleanliness, left us feeling utterly disrespected as consumers. It's clear that customer satisfaction is the least of their concerns. I took the time to verify our experience wasn't an isolated incident by checking out Google and Trust Pilot reviews, and, unsurprisingly, found a chorus of disgruntled customers echoing our sentiments. It's disheartening to see a business disregard its customers' experiences to this extent. I urge potential customers to think twice before visiting the Wing Yip Superstore Manchester. There are plenty of other places where your business and time will be valued and respected. Don't let yourself be the next victim of their exorbitant pricing and parking scams. Consider this a warning to steer clear and save yourself the frustration and unnecessary expense.

We as a family of eight, two cars went to Wing Yip to shop and have dim sum in Glamorous restaurant upstairs. I parked downstairs and our son and family parked upstairs. As I have been there many time for Chinese food shopping with no problems, I have no second thoughts about parking downstairs or looking out/noticing rule and regulation signs. We had dim sum first spent £200 and then shopped downstairs spent £130. My car parking time was 11.30am to 2pm. A few days later, I received a parking fine £60. Called the supermarket, they said they cannot do anything about it as YOU should have read the rule sign, it is not them who gives out the fines but UKPS LTD and its out of their hands, I should either call or email the parking company for appeal. Time limit 14 days from the day of the letter or it will be a £100 fine thereafter. I sent email but no reply, the telephone number no answer, so I have to pay the £60 fines. I believed the parking company have no interest in your story (you should have read their notice!!!) 90 minutes downstairs, 4 hours upstairs. My son was okay thank goodness he parked upstairs. Wing Yip could have intervene as it is their boundary and they instruct UKPS but they choose not to help, I guess. We will not go there to shop or eat again because they treat their customers like fools.

Accidentally broke a bottle of fish sauce. Reported it and continued shopping. Had around £50 in basket. Went to till and shop assistant/manager came to us and said we must pay for broken item. There were no signs up stating this,I asked and he walked away as if to find a sign but came back empty handed and again stated I needed to pay for broken item. Not a chance mate. I left my basket and left the building. Ordered all the items on line at a lower cost and will be delivered. Never shop there again. After going on line I realised just how expensive wing yips has become. If you do shop there be careful and watch the prices, expensive.

Been going for years, so did the same thing the other day. Parked downstair, shopped then had expensive lunch upstair. So parked for about 3 hours in total. Got a ticket few days later for £100 for parking over 45mins. Phoned up and complaint but Wing Yip said it's nothing to do with them, hence it's no point complainting. They said, oh you should park upstair, not downstair!! WHAT??!! Absolutely ridiculous!! What kind of business is that scamming your customers like this?? A car parking business or a shop and restaurant?? Won't ever to there again!! Stay away and don't be scam!! It's ashame I didn't see the previous review earlier!!

Stop going there!!! I will never go there again. spend over £200 for food in supermarket and more in restaurant. one week later, you get letter for £100 parking fine. because spend more than 90 mins for shopping and dinning with them? really? is that how you treat your customer? no warning from store for the parking limit change, not visible sign for the time limited. unfair limited, can you finish you £200 shopping and a dinner within 90 mins? and both restaurant and Wing Yip store say nothing about the complain. worse place to go in Manchester.

We use Wing Yip regularly and although there are some items which may not be the cheapest, they are not too bad. We regularly find things that are intriguing and we buy to find out what they can be used for, last was sweet, fruit vinegar. We top up on all the bottles of soy, oyster, fish, sweet chilli and pouring sauces, these are definitely cheaper here. Used to be the only place you could get gochuchang but even Asda sell that now. Staff always been helpful and friendly. We love the pre made dim sum you can buy and buy a mix of fresh and frozen most visits. Tofu choice is great and fresh herbs like coriander are really cheap, also fresh ginger and turmeric Always good to finish with a visit to the glamorous Chinese restaurant upstairs, lovely food there. Worth a visit and trawl all the isles, try some new things too.

This is not Chinese or Japanese cuisine, it is awful...the salt and pepper chicken wasn't even deep fried and was tomato based. The katsu curry was disgusting. It has actually made me quite ill and spent a lot of the night on the toilet. Do not eat here...they cannot cook.

Arrived here after dropping son at uni. One of the only restaurants with no queue. The restaurant was busy and we were offered two seats on a long table between two other couples. The staff were very polite and ensured everyone was happy with the arrangement. A very large menu and lots of dishes I was unfamiliar with. We had a spicy beef hotpot and pork noodles both of which were very tasty. Beef was spicy and waiter checked we were ok with that. The bill was very reasonable, certainly compared to prices in the south east. I would recommend this restaurant and would visit again. I don't recognise the poor reviews on here as being anywhere near representative of my visit.

Just awful salt and pepper. Chicken must’ve been cooked hours ago as the batter was so horribly crispy. It was also freezing cold. What a waste of money.
