What a place, it was great for food choice…. And there it ends. The people who work in this shop must have to go on a training course to be exceptionally horrible. After asking where something is, you’ve had it. They take no notice of you, look at you like you’ve set fire to their children, then scowl. They are something else, I tell you. I dare someone to ask the butcher a question….. good luck getting out, not sure if the meat was animal, or the last humans that asked him a question. This store could do so much better if they helped rather than what they do. Know what you’re getting, know how to cook it, know where it is. And you might get out alive.

Tried to find out if my nearest store sold fresh seafood , namely mussels but on the phone call was told company policy not to tell you what is stocked ! Unbelievable ! So I won’t travel half an hour there on the off chance maybe spending quite a bit and will look elsewhere . There loss !!!

Bought fresh MACKEREL from the fish counter then found out live parasites inside. Called the customer service, emailed with photos and videos still they refused to refund unless we brought the dead fish with live parasites back by the end of today. Explained to them there is 40 mins one way drive from home to the store and with two babies at home. The so called “company policy”is trying everything they can to refuse a return or refund by all means.

Vegetable stock is dire . Its not even fit for animal feed and still charge full price . Till helper called joe wants either anger management or to be trained how to speak to the customers with a damn lot more respect . Ignorant and arrogant attitude looking to get his pointing finger broken . This used to be a wonderful experience here but now let down by rude service from a few staff .

Great chose of Chinese Thai and Japanese foods most of which I didn’t know what there all used for.., I was Fascinated by the choice and all very reasonable priced but wished I’d made a better list of the herbs, spices and ingredients I needed, I will definitely come here again soon Fascinating shop

Customers a mix of business ones and private individuals like us. We like to go every time we go to Birmingham which is about 3 times a year because of the huge range of Asian foods they carry . Mainly Asian customers . Our biggest problem is finding everything we want and it would be helpful if the aisles were better signed , even the manager we asked didn't know where everything was but fortunately one of the staff was able to direct us. Clean and tidy but aisles tended to be partially blocked with staff filling shelves. Checkout is potentially a problem as the business customers have fully laden trolleys so you need to look at the various lines and try and chose one with mainly ordinary members of the public. Checkout was efficient , Muslim assistant was cheerful.Not expensive, good value for money Big car park , security guard helpful.

Joe was very rude, without any professionalism, impatient with customer's enquire. He talked to me very harshly and he was rude to his follow co-workers as well. He gives people's very bad shopping experience, he needs to have some training to improve his customer service skills and communication skills. Otherwise, he will continue to ruin the reputation of Wing Yap Birmingham superstore. Many cashiers are serving without any greeting to customers and just showing miserable faces. Varied selection was not available, and certain products only have a few brands available, limited choices for customers.

I've been shopping many times at the WingYip superstore Birmingham for past thirty years, manner of the staff were quite decent until the last visit on 13/05/22. The cashier's manner who's name was Suki was really miserable, at the end when I said 'Thank you' there was no response from her instead of a poker face .

Totally disappointed and sick of services from this shop manager whom named Joe. Even didn’t talked to this guy today, but he asked me to leave the shop. Didn’t know what’s happened to this sick man, I did complain to customer service about receiving rude service from the other guy named Jon early time, but nothing to the Joe, the funny weird experience that I had received, got a totally rubbish experience, never ever again. Read other reviews, seems like this shop never care about this. No 0 score could choose, otherwise, definitely 0.

This review is about the store, not the restaurant. I've shopped at the store once and shopped online many times. The in-store experience is worse than most supermarkets in terms of customer service. The online experience was good until they messed up an order big time - received someone else's order. Not long after they took the online shop down - sometime before August 2021. The message on their website said it would be back during August 21 but it's stiff offline and they won't say what is happening. Typical of an authoritarian regime and I will now take my business to other online oriental retailers. Wing Yip can go take a hike.

Big store with plenty of selections, bulk buy available Store is clean and not noisy comparing to other Chinese supermarkets e.g. in London

I went to Wing Yip Birmingham with my dad today, we picked up 20 packs of sugars and queued up to pay. We got stopped by the manager (don’t know his name, but he was tall, big and bald), said “Only allow 5 per customer, there is a sign up on the shelf.” The way he spoke came across to be very rude and arrogant, he didn’t even listen to us explain. I was certain that I checked there was no restrictions sign before I put 20 packs on trolley. The till lady helped to move 5 packs for me and 5 packs for my dad, but the manger refused to sell and stopped us. He was very rude and argued with my dad, he wouldn’t listen that my parents and I live in different household, so we would class as two customers. He said that we caused a big scene, he is not going to talk to us, we can’t buy the goods, that’s it. I never felt so intimated, it is not like as if we not paying for the goods. I got my dad to walk back in to double check to see if there was a sign to say there’s restrictions, my dad checked and there was no sign at all! I went back in to talk to that rude manager, and his reply was “Well, we can’t put a sign up for everything.” I was so angry, because if there was a sign, I wouldn’t have picked up 20 packs in the first place. At the end of the day, we are CUSTOMERS and not CRIMINALS. The way he was talking down to me & my dad, and accused us of causing problems, and not reading this non-existent restrictions sign of his, he should apologise and be ashamed of his actions.

Went to buy frozen prawns (good selection). Came out found car been hit in their car park. Duty manager found accident on camera. Wing yip would not cooperate with insurance so lost on claim. Probably did not want to upset big customer. Oh well more injustice in life. Bad experience.

Avoid Wing Yip if you have any form of medical exemption to wearing a mask! Upon being shown my exemption card, Andy went on to say that the shop are unable to allow any members of the public in without a mask! Now aside from the fact that the government guidance is that entry should not be refused should a person have an exemption certificate but this is also in breach of the equality act of 2010 and is discrimination arising from a disability under regulation 15 of the quality act- which I made him aware of! He then replied with information about the H&S act which was and is completely irrelevant and went on to say how the information I was providing was incorrect- I then again showed evidence which he dismissed! I have attached below evidence to support this and information from the GOVERNMENT WEBSITE! I would advise Andy to take some time out of refusing entry and educating himself on the current guidelines and how you should and shouldn’t enforce them! Basically- keep away!!!!!

Called in out of interest more than anything but, WOW a brilliant Chinese supermarket selling pratically everything you need Chinese wise, never seen so much varity. Following that we had the bussiness luch in the resturant, again very good, receommend both outlets and will revisit.
