Would recommend booking as this place seemed to be pretty popular - we were luck to have got a place as "walkin". Friendly service and the food was good - not as authentic as what we had at Krabi the previous week.

Food was ok, typical Thai styles food, slightly greasy however. The decor is excellent but the food does not match up to the decadent interior.

I can honestly say that Thai is never a choice I would make. Was here along with 20 others for a business meet and greet. Format was simple number of starters lobster course then mains. Could not fault a thing and when I said I needed to be careful with peanuts they organised everything for me very well. This experience would encourage me to come again.

First things first. The staff were more than attentive. We went for the Banquet and our round table was set for 9. Just found if a lazy susie had been on the table it would have made our dining experience so much better. Especially entertaining customers. People were streching and having to ask other people to pass plates of food. Definately not the most relaxing and comfortable eveining. Then when 2 lobster's arrived and only 2 water bowls to clean your fingers shared by 9 i felt i would miss that course. The meal was served on the whole the food was good but the whole experiance could have been improved with the help of a lazy susie.

After trying to go to (an empty) bistro Pierre and being told it was fully booked, we went across to Thai Edge, also empty saying they were fully booked but we could have the table for an hour...Result! We have been before and we're not disappointed, in fact the other restaurant did us a favour. Chicken massa man and beef in red penang curry were both delicious as was the coconut rice. The house red was acceptable. Will return.

Service was poor , the waitress took ages to service us and when we eventually asked for the bill. It was wrong we ordered tap water as had drinks else where and on the bill it said we had £8 worth of drinks. The waitress servicing us who gave us the tap water was even questioning us if we had had the drinks. The restaurant had about 4 tables full so there was no confusion to be had. The food was average. The service was poor and when the bill was wrong it was as they were annoyed at us for noticing it was wrong. Atmosphere wasnt pleasant a nice meal we thought it would be actually couldn't wait to leave the venue. Wouldn't recommend to a friend.

Visited on a works meal. Lovely food and full of flavour. Decided to have one of the set menus which had lots of choice, although overpriced compared to other restaurants who offer a similar menu choice for around £10 cheaper per person. Although you can get all you can eat when choosing the set menu, there was enough with the amount brought out to start and therefore would have been cheaper to buy each dish separately.Would visit again but order separate dishes from the menu to save money.

Been to many restaurants and have to say staff here are simply clueless. Trying to make eye contact or get staff attention to place orders and they're more interested in talking to each other...Food is ok but the staff is a let down. And on top 10% 'optional' tip already given in the bill. I have no issues in telling them to remove this 'option' and never tip for rubbish service. Tipping is for good service.. have received better service in Mc Donald's than in this place! This is priced for 'fine dining' and no issue there but you must get what you pay for.

Really nice contemporary style restaurant but lacking customer focus! No real interaction with the waitress. It was a case of 'what do you want' then the menus were scooped up from our hands. Had to chase drinks as its nice to have a drink whilst waiting.Food arrived promptly but was really nothing special. Very ordinary. We asked for a side salad but advised that this was not possible. Surprising really as salads were featured as main courses. Waitress indicated this was an option to purchase an additional main course. All four of four of us agreed that we had had better Thai meals.Liqueur coffee and teas ordered but the coffee was only luke warm so we asked if a hot coffee could be provided. It never arrived before we had to go.Mentioned this to the guy on the till and he simply said that it was a very busy night.I therefore asked him to remove the optional service charge

Visited Thai Edge for the second time my very first visit was super , we visited on a lunch time and we ate from lunch menu around 6 months ago fir a friend's birthday. The food was super, therefore was really pleased with the restaurant decided to visit again on Friday evening.Second time around i wasn't very impressed, my starter was lovely very fresh and tasty, my main came and i have to say the chicken tasted off in fact i left the chicken and just ate the vegetables and the sauce. I eat chicken all of the time and it just had a funny taste to it therefore it let the meal down. On a plus side the dessert was lovely but still a bit frozen in the middle but very tasty. The ambience was lovely and relaxing. The staff were great. Not sure if i would return again though as meal and drinks came to nearly £80 which is fine if you enjoyed the food so it's not the cheapest but expected better quality from a Birmingham restaurant.

Only the second time we've been here, first time was years ago. I thought we'd give it another go. I love Thai food, and I can honestly say the chicken massaman curry was one of the best I've ever had. It was gorgeous. However, the service was a bit 'elusive'. Not overly friendly, but I can cope with that, what I don't like is when you struggle to get hold of someone to ask for drinks, get plates cleared, get the bill etc. They were quite attentive to a party of 4 next to us but we were ignored a tad. Not sure if I'd go back.

The food and service was good. We had dinner on Christas Eve (24th). We came over from the Netherlands for a brief stay for Christmas. We made a reservation for 7 :30 pm. Food was half decent but apart from that don't expect much at all, if you want a pleasant dining experience my advice would be to go elsewhere. We were made to wait in the reception area even though the restaurant was half empty and our table was ready, then rushed to the table and made to feel bad for taking up space in the waiting area even though we were told to stand there. The staff are largely clueless, unfriendly and some downright rude. Every time we asked for something the waitress looked put out. We were overcharged on our bill and it was queried we were practically told that we were lying. After being passed around 4 different members of staff, the chef and eventually the manager, they refused to accept that they were wrong and we ended up having to pay. Awful customer service.

The starters were good but we choose a sharing platter and I was a bit surprised at the cost as it worked out at £17 for 2 so be prepared. I really enjoyed the green thai curry. My friend ordered crab and was very disappointed because it came in the shell with a claw crusher and she was unable to manage it so we had to ask the staff to do it for her and then there were bits of shell in the food. A poor choice. Ther was a spillage and the staff were too slow to clean it up (at least 15 minutes)s o I did it with the hand wipe provided. It transpired that they came to wipe it up after my friend had nearly slipped on a wet floor in the ladies toilet. It was quite expensive £70 for 2 of us.

Thai Edge produces some lovely food, however it is let down by other other aspects of the dining experience. The service is slow and waitresses/waiters are often rude (e.g. changing the table cloth for the next sitting whilst we were still sat there and had drinks on the table which weren't finished), whilst trying to get the bill is almost impossible. Our experience was tainted by two women at the next table having a very loud and heated row, although the restaurant cannot be blamed for that. Eventually the manager comes over and asks how many people...!!! there's 4 of us just sitting there, plus the fact we booked a table for 4!Anyway, the food and prices I cant complain about, prices, well you are in town, so you expect to pay a little bit more than average. The service is extremely poor. The waiters/waitresses have no clue of what they are serving you, just like another reviewer below has said, they go off and ask the manager to confirm what we have ordered!!! Shocking!!! Thai people come from a land of a thousand smiles, but not in this place, miserable! Wanting to have some seafood to keep demons at bay, we visited Thai Edge. We took a risk of no reservation as it was Thursday night – only us in the restaurant…after 20 minutes the restaurant slowly became from busy to madness, no doubt this restaurant is very popular. Ambience and décor - the décor was as expected, a true mix of Asian handcrafts and ergonomic. Background music Mobi…that’s a missStaff – welcoming and friendly. Lack of knowledge and insecure perhaps due to lack of training. The female staff dressed with traditional costume is a nice complement.Meal Experience – opted for Seafood Banquet…this is a feast!!! Plates are slowly bringing out for you to enjoy (please note that minimum order for this is two @£38.50 is not cheap) this is ideal for 4 people to share as it is done in South-east Asia. Waitress (who we believe is a manager) was very assertive, was insiting that two of our party (of 10 people) couldn't share a dish. Thai food is meant for sharing. Basically she wanted us to order an excess of food. She had argued with me for about 3 minutes then had walked away without giving any reason and came back 5 minutes later to continue the argument , her argument was if they order 1 dish we might still be hungry. Didn't realise we couldn't order afterwards if we were still hungry. At the end of our meal there was about 5 dishes of untouched ordered from the set menus ordered from the rest of the party. They wanted £30 service charge after this.

We hadn't booked and feared a long wait. However we were greeted promptly and made welcome. We were told about how long we would wit for a table (20 minutes) and were seated promptly. Everything was perfect - the food was about the best Thai food I have had, the staff were fantastically helpful, pleasant and expert and there was enough space between tables to be able to hear what we were all saying. Worth a trip to Birmingham just to eat here. Thank you

Went to the Thai edge for a top quality night out with my friend. Upon arrival we were slightly late but our table was still reserved. Nice welcoming on arrival. Considering it was a Saturday night it was not that busy. The free prawn crackers were nice with the sauce. We were unsure what to order so we had a starter and a main for two. The starter was very nice. I felt as if i was being rushed to finish my starter though and as soon i put my cutlery down my plate had been taken. The main was not so good we had sweet and sour beef and exchanged the pork for lamb, which incurred extra charge of two pounds per person with egg fried rice. The food was not that hot even though they brink ouy a food warm with the food. the rice was very sticky. Basically it was sticky rice which is not a liking if mine. In all fairness the waiter did try to change it but that's just how they make their rice. We had a bottle of wine also with the meal and it came up to 75 quid not that I'm complaining but I don't think it was worth the money at all. We decided to take the left overs home which we did but as soon as we got out we put it in the bins out side and decided to have a few drinks in the brass house which helped.

We actually went twice in two nights. Friday evening, plenty of time for a peaceful meal, found Thai edge. Nice looking restaurant away from the business of Brindley Place. The staff were friendly, the food very good, slightly pricey, service nicely paced. Saturday, plenty of time before we went to a concert, canalside was manic, places packed and noisy, so we went to Thai edge again for a peaceful meal. Again friendly, food good etc etc. However as the place got a bit busier service became slower and slower. We ended having to rush our main course and leave quickly. The 10% which they automatically add onto the bill (it says it's optional so why add it on?) did not get paid. I explained why and they understood. It's a shame, this place has so much going for it, it just requires a bit more thought and organisation.

Looks great, well situated, unfortunately no where near the quality I or our friends had expected, such a shame. I do not often give a response like this via trip advisor, but over priced.

We went here after a training day for a group meal. Plenty of seating, attentive staff and really great food well presented. I had a two chilly rated meal and that was plenty hot enough for me. Great place that I would highly recommend.

Wandering around Brindley place wondering where to go I ended up in Thai Edge. The restaurant was about a third full. The decor was nice. Background music was OK. The lady who greeted me seemed a little unsure. No one seemed overjoyed to see me. No one said very much but there were 5 waitresses on and they coped quite smoothly. The food was tasty and the flavours good. A very pleasant meal and I would be happy to go back.

My husband & I had lunch here yesterday, we ate from the reasonably priced £8.95 for 2 courses lunch menu, the food was very tasty and enjoyable, we each had a large draft diet coke as well (which came wrong first time). The bill came and we were charged £4.20 for EACH coke. Yes, you read that right, Four Pounds and Twenty Pence for a pint of water with a little coke syrup in it, well probably half a pint of water once all the ice was taken into account. Even paying for our share to use the glasses, the water to wash it up in, the electricity to make the ice, even the 2 minutes of the time that it took for the minimum wage waiter to pour it and carry it to our table, this is a ridiculous rip off. We will not be going back here, which is a shame as the food is quick nice. I suggest you save your money and go elsewhere.

Its such a shame that this only gets 3 stars. The staff are just seem very unhappy and the attitude from the managements not very good or professional at all. The actual location and restaurant is actually very very nice and the food taste beautiful. I just feel maybe if they change the management and staff then this could be the 5 star that it has the potential to be. It is expensive however that's the price you expect to pay around brindley place so thats understandable.

My partner and I went to Thai Edge as we have been before about a year ago. The food is good and the menu had changed from the last time we visited. We both ordered a starter and a main, as well as a bottle of sparkling wine, and a bottle of fizzy water. The bill came to £93, which is not cheap for two people. The food was worth the price, but the portion sizes were a little disappointing and it was a shame that my partner wanted a snack almost as soon as we arrived home. The starter was delicious, but small. We also ordered a rice which was meant to be shared between two people, but it was the same size as you would get for one person if you went to a Chinese or Indian takeaway. Last time we ordered a set meal for two people. These are worth the extra money as you get much more food. The staff were courteous as usual, bowing to greet you, attentive etc. However they were not smiling when they weren't looking at customers. A couple of staff appeared in a hurry to get a table ready after someone had left. Their body movements were abrupt and they spoke to eachother in a less friendly tone they would use towards customers. They were close to us and made an obvious noise so made the atmosphere less chilled.

Been here so many times as it is one of our favourites. We had good service as usual. The menu has been improved. Had a great starter and I had the main course of beef. It was fine although I thought it could be spicier as it was described as hot on the menu. Shared a king prawn rice between us we thought it was quite a small portion.May try one of the set menus next time.

Went for the first time in a long time & my initial feelings weren't good. Everything was a little disjointed service wise. A bottle of wine took about 20 minutes to migrate the 10ft from the bar. Placing the order was a painful experience where repeating things over & over again didn't seem to matter. And when the starters did arrive, certain dishes had been missed on the order. I also agree with a previous post saying it is cheeky to throw on a service charge automatically. Like them, we would tip far higher than what they requested so very silly there! All that being said, myself & two friends ordered an array of dishes & all the food was stunning!! Quality ingredients, superb flavours, absolutely superb!! If they tighten up a few bits then this place would be stunning.

Went for meal with hubby. Friendly staff and good food but ordered food and it came out within 5 mins. To me eating out is about the experience, if I wanted fast food I would have gone McDonald's. Also they added on an optional service charge but when lady came she automatically typed it in with it included. We would usually tip around £10 naturally for good service and food but the 'optional' service charge was just under £5. Hilarious really cause they lost out on a larger tip by being so cheeky about it. Though in honesty on this occasion I may have not tipped so much with the service being rushed.

The best Thai food I've ever had in Birmingham. The Sunday buffet is amazing and good value for money - it's mine and my family's favourite place to go. The atmosphere and interior of the whole restaurant is also lovely and looks really elegant, not to mention the location of the restaurant in Brindley Place is perfect. Cocktails are also fab! Definitely go here!!!

We visited on the bank holiday. This restaurant is ideally situated if you want to eat before or after a few drinks, as its smack in between Broad Street and the canal (5 minute walk to either area). The food was good and reasonably priced. My only slight criticism was that service was a little slow and the restaurant was only half full. If you aren't in a rush though....We would definitely go back, if we are in the area again.

I have been to this restaurant several times over the last few years. The food is decent and rarely disappoints. However, the staff tends to be slow and unresponsive. It happened more than once that they forgot to bring an extra drink ordered during the meal. Unfortunately, it is one of few Thai places in the Birmingham area and you can tell the lack of competition is demotivational...

My husband and I were visiting Birmingham for the weekend. On our first evening we were deciding were to eat and as this place was advertised as 'arguably the best Thai food in Birmingham' we chose here. My husband and I love Thai so what better place?!Well all I can say is if this is the best Birmingham has to offer I worry about the other Thai restaurants. Don't get me wrong the food was tasty but only of a good take away standard. Service was extremely poor! We arrived around 6.30pm and were showed to a table by the bar man. The restaurant was around half full and there only appeared to be one waiter. After 15 mins he came to take a drinks order, we ordered two cocktails from the menu and he said he'd be back for our food order. A further 15 minutes later we still had no drinks and nobody had taken our order. I actually said to my husband were leaving if there not here in 5 minutes. It was now 7pm, half an hour since we'd sat down and we had nothing! My husband caught the eye of a female waitress that had just arrived and she came to 'take our drinks order' we advised we'd been waiting a long time and weren't happy. She was very apologetic and went to get our drinks. She took our order and luckily we didn't have to wait too long until the food came. As I've said it was nice food but we felt let down after all the reviews and advertisements.

We went to this restaurant after reading lot of reviews and were disappointed. To start with the waitress were very arrogant and rude and refused to take order for starters unless we place the order for the mains as well. Then most of the items on the menu is for minimum 2 people order and the quantity was so less not even for a single person. Every item is overly priced and not tasty and looks same with coconut or cream on the top.If looking for a good thai restaurant please avoid this place.

We went for dinner mid week a few weeks ago. I commented to my partner how the the decor is looking tired, ripped material on seats, toilets run down. Not great for a prime city centre location like brindley place. Anyway we were the only people in the place when we ordered, but they still got my order wrong! I wanted prawn pad Thai but I got chicken! The waiter whipped it away without an apology, and left me there with no food while my partner had his. After 5 mins I had to call the waiter over to say ask what was going on and I'd just have the chicken to save my partner and I having to eat separately. The prawn pad Thai came, it had 4 measly prawns in the whole dish! For £10! Not lovely fresh jumbo prawns, 4 frozen king prawns you get from a supermarket. Really disappointed!Had they of come over mid way through the meal to ask if everything was ok with our meal, I would have said no and raised the issue. But as they didn't bother, I won't bother going back. Shame as it could be so much better.

The restaurant is quite open and noisy, which isn't my preference. It is well presented and clean, but lacking the charm of many Thai places I have been to previously. The staff were friendly enough, but I had to ask for a drink 3 times before I got one and it wasn't very busy. My food was average at best (tofu satay and vegetable massaman with steamed rice). It was fresh but not very tasty. The portions were right. I won't be returning or recommending this one.
