Hadn’t expected all this on the inside of a traditional looking London pub in EC2A on the corner of Tabernacle St. Came in for a cold swift half amongst a combination of city guys in pressed navy suit trousers with shaft white open necked shirts rubbing up again a cluster of builders or repairer from the mass of close developments. This was another pub when I would have delighted in the full on experience of an hour or so but pressures dictated moving on to business close by. Pity also that I couldn’t sample the delights of an open day at the John Wesley house nearby where all the staff and enthusiasts were fully dressed in Georgian(?) apparel and coaxing anyone remotely curious into full on tours. Or so I was targeted by a female in full garb at the bar in the pub.

I booked for myself and 10 colleagues to go to the Windmill for Pizza & Drinks after work. After reading a few negative reviews on here, we were slightly dubious about our visit. However the food & drinks were perfect. Pizzas were made fresh & as a we were a big group they came out in relatively good time. Drinks were great & there was a good vibe. Would 100% come back & again and would recommend to others.

Went for some drinks on Thursday evening last week after work. We had only just arrived and a lady came barging through us, actually pushing one of the girls out of the way and sitting at us that we couldn’t stand there as we were in the way. She was very aggressive and moody. We were all shocked! She was apparently the new manager…. At the bar a few minutes later I got served by a lovely guy at the bar. Unfortunately I accidentally knocked a glass of Guinness and it spilt all over the bar area. I was apologetic but the same lady came running over and furiously started moving everything and wiping up. She didn’t look at me once but continued to clear up for ages with a very angry attitude. The people I was standing with at the bar were also really confused by this behaviour! No customer service at all!!! I asked her why she was being so rude - which she denied. I told her she had already barged us all out of the way and shouted at us for being in her way. She replied that it was because she had told us loads of times already to move, but we had only just arrived!! Later on I caught her talking to one of the bar staff calling me a ‘bitch’! They are all clearly frightened of her as one of them dropped a glass and immediately gave her a look as if he was going to get really shouted at…..We were disgusted with her behaviour and found her so incredibly rude. No customer service skills at all. Will not be going back!!

Fairly run down place, slight smell of drains and pretty shabby BUT the pizza is absolutely amazing, best I’ve had outside of Italy. Staff super lovely too. No-cheese vegan pizza is a game changer.

Really disappointed with the bar staff, this pub is next to my office and my company drink here on a weekly basis, I have personally spent many great evenings there and enjoyed the delicious pizzas. Unfortunately this evening I have experienced really poor level of customer service this evening whilst drinking here with my colleagues. I had split a drink down myself by accident so politely requested some tissue or napkins from one of the bar maids. She point blank ignored me and turned her back to me, when I reached out to ask her again she told me to wait and she doesn’t have any tissues anyway. I have worked in customer service for many years, this was totally uncalled for and very upsetting from a venue we love.

The windmill was there for all my needs. The staff were lovely and wanted to help with anything we needed. The manager was out and about making sure everything was right. The drinks came out quickly and were exactly what we wanted. I would recommend this pub for anyone. I had a great time at the pub and I will be back for sure.

Been here for drinks before and had a good time so I decided to come here for lunch. Paid £9.95 for a beef burger and chips and there’s nothing I regret more. Absolutely disgusting. The patty tasted like mushy sausage meat.

We wanted a pint had a walk up to an adorable roof top terrace ended up with terrific gin cocktails , the best veal and minced meat pie on the planet , a lovelyShepard pie , solid service and a relieved feeling that we didn’t read trip advisor first as these reviews although good , fail to describe the brilliance of the pie heaven we experienced .

So from the outside it feels like you are going to enter a really old building which may have lots of nooks and crannies with massive tradition. In reality however, this pub is owned by a biggish brewery and just feels like a chain pub. We sat in the bar area which is like any pub in any high street. Service friendly but uninspiring. Bit like the pie and mash. Functional. The pie was decent but the gravy looked like it had been made from an oxo cube. Big lump of mash. Nothing else. Had a pint of Guiness with it that was not at all creamy. Not bad overall but a bit of a let down.

The Windmill Pub prides itself on its meat pies and for very good reason. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff are friendly, if a bit overtaxed. But the meat pies are the stars of the show and they shine brightly. You might find a better meat pie elsewhere, but I doubt it.

Having been here for a drink a couple of times, a friend and I decided to try the lunch menu. As with other reviewers I thought it was excellent, we went Italian and both had a type of pasta, both dishes were clearly freshly cooked, decent sized portions and importantly tasted lovely. The pub has a shabby chic feel but prefer that to the sanitised look of many City pubs. Will definitely return

We stopped at this place on our way back home for a last drink. This is a nice off-the-main road pub, in a quiet area. It is vast on the inside and has many standing spots outside, with the brilliant idea of having coat hangers as counter fixing devices. I can't believe not all pubs use those. Service was good when we ordered. We wanted to sample out a couple products we had never before tried, and the sample sizes were huge, almost a third of a pint. Very generous. This is a great place to enjoy a drink or two.

The Windmill is a very pleasant pub in all seasons of the year, cool and airy in summer, warm and welcoming in winter. As a slightly older cyclist who smokes, i enjoy popping in for a single pint with friends and colleagues whilst waiting for the rush-our traffic to subside. I'm also invariably able to get my usual corner seat, which is a major bonus as it allows me to keep an eye on my bike. The Heineken is served from chilled taps, so is most refreshing and enjoyable. That is unless the proprietor has forgotten to order in enough on Mondays, which has happened occasionally. The fact that it is located on the corner of two relatively quiet roads means that it's possible for me to securely tether my bike and have an occasional cigarette without the pedestrian or vehicular traffic interruptions which are so common with London pubs. The staff are without exception friendly, efficient and fun.

Been here quite a few times. Beer a tad pricey but this is central London after all. Bar staff are without exception very friendly and the Heineken is always really cold and from chilled glasses.Music goes on later on, maybe 8pm and sometimes a bit too loud but they judge the crowd and change accordingly. One of the best features is some old guy who sits in the corner. He has never NOT been there since I have been going. He drinks Heineken religiously and scoots in and out for his cigarettes every five minutes while asking folk to keep an eye on his cycling gear. He is a true gent and an real eccentric, something every pub needs!

I am a man who loves a beer and they sell beer. That said we have had a couple of dodgy pints here and the food is not amazing but it's relatively quiet and the barmaid is nice enough. If you fancy a quiet lunchtime beer then this could be a better option than other pubs in the area but it's not the best. Average boozer.

I stayed at the 'Windmill Pub' for a few days at the beginning of the week and didn't arrive till late at night and was greeted with a very warm welcome by the owners Gerry and Lucy who I met for the first time while I was over on a personnel trip. From the minute I got there to the day I left the hospitality was outstanding and made felt at home straight away. The food was delicious and all home cooked by the very friendly chef Juan.It was very reasonably priced for London and the portions was just perfect and I didn't want to eat anywhere else. The service and bar staff was lovely and very helpful and efficient especially 'Jacob' from New Zealand and 'Meera' from Spain. The owners Gerry and Lucy went out of their way to make sure I was looked after and I had everything I needed. The atmosphere and craic was great there and they made a mean Blood Mary cocktail for me one of my favourite drinks.I found the price of drink too very reasonable.I would recommend this Pub to anyone who wants to stay in a warm friendly place 'home from home 'Good Food great people great accommodation and somewhere to relax and chill and have the craic too but not too pricey and this place just ticked the boxes with everything.Where the 'Windmill Pub' is situated too I was expecting it to be noisy right in the heart of London but it was quiet as they have huge double glazing windows and kept the noise out.The rooms are comfy and clean and all you need for a good night's sleep. There is a beautiful park just 5 minute walk up the road and great for anyone staying with kids. There are buses right on the doorstep and if you want to travel only by bus around London for the whole day you can get a card called the' oyster card' right across the road from the windmill pub there is a newsagent there and can top it up for as little as 5 pound which will last you all day,It's great value and well worth it if you didn't want to use the underground or tube. The locals are friendly and helpful and I found it a nice area to stay in.

A place wher probably pie is the thing to eat - this is something strange to us, and we had a not too memorable 'chardonnay chicken' or something, which was ok - the chardonnay was a bit hard to find, though.Great beer and fine service. One weird thing: they locked our credit card into a little device and gave us a key for safekeeping. Not putting a lot of trust in the customers, I believe.

O lugar é um pub de verdade, com sofás, mesas e o clássico balcão. As opções de bebidas são variadas. O pessoal que trabalha no lugar é muito simpático e atencioso. Out I went, for a thoroughly intense knees-up with Janto, Chunger and Big Mervyn. After drowning our sorrows with Big Merv’s inheritance from his deid Mam, and ingesting some lighter fluid avec workerman’s glue, we headed to The Joker for a knees up. First in, Chunger got in the pints which were all exceedingly tasty and helped wash down the acrid tang of glue at the back of my throat. It was only after Janto repeatedly and brazenly kept impersonating a couple on a date next to us, by doing the young man’s lovely, soft posh accent that things really got funny. ‘WHAT IS SO FUNNY?’ He boomed. ‘Please let’s just leave, these men are savages and I think they’re on something, they’re out of their heads!’ said his date. We laughed some more and Merv said, too right, we’re out of our heads on good times, and also a heavy dose of my deid Ma’s dosh. ‘You sick freaks’ intoned the gent. ‘You think you’re so funny!’ It was then that Chunger stood up and roared with the strength of a hurricane into his own pint glass - ‘I AM TRYING TO HAVE A LAUGH. MY FATHER WAS NOT VERY NICE TO ME’ We fell about the floor laughing and ordering more pints which flowed as fast as the beautiful currents of the Arno. Things became decidedly ugly when I took a gulp of the young gent’s gravy which was on his plate, but Big Mervyn settled accounts by leaning on the man’s shoulder and whispering a few sweet nothings. Overall, I had a cracking night and the craic was 90 as we Ho Ho Ho’d all the way home with the young couple’s umbrella which they very kindly gave to us, as well as £50, which was very generous.
