Great food, service and the location of the pub is just beautiful. Cosy atmosphere. The gardens at the back of the pub are spectacular with a brilliant view of the windmill. Will definitely be back here again soon 😊

We visited on Sunday 27th October 2024 as a family of 6. There was only a Sunday roast on offer, which was absolutely delicious. One vegitarian, who had a lovely nut roast alternative. Lovely homely feel to the place and to the amazing food. Thank you. We look forward to returning to try the main menu.

Table booked for 15:30 had a long wait for our table, then a long wait for someone to take our order. Food (Sunday Lunch) when it did arrive was not at the level we expected from the reviews and recommendations we'd had.

Love this pub. They have a sensible selection of local beers and understand that a shorter menu cooked from scratch with local ingredients is ALWAYS better than a long list of redi-meals sourced from Brakes Brothers! Give it a try.

Historic country pub in spectacular location. Traditional pub menu with GR8 flavours & friendly service. The Windmill has thankfully survived corporate buyouts over the years & been given sympathetic re-decoration only, which makes it's true rustic country pub charms standout. Highly recommended roadtrip stopoff.

If you love great quality Country pubs then this is your answer. We were visiting for a wedding and have never been to the area. Thus was the warmest welcome we could have hoped for amazing food great beer and most of all extremely attentive staff that waited on us all. I have to mention we have a 1.t year old and a 4 year old and they were lovely with our children, when you have kids you know this really cannot be said for every pub especially at 5pm on a Saturday. Also, its a sunning oldie worldly pub if you like that kind of pub you wont be disappointed. If we are ever in the area again we will be back. The staff serving were an absolute credit to the pub and certainly their manager.

BEWARE: Children are not allowed to stand up in the garden or will be told to sit down immediately. If this is really the case then where is the signage stating that kids aren't allowed to walk around in the garden?? If we had seen that then at least we would have known to leave right away. Essentially what could be a lovely pub located on the road with plenty of passing trade and nice views from the garden. Sadly let down by an old man who is presumably the Landlord but clearly should not be in the trade or any customer facing role whatsoever. Everyone has bad days but this was taking the biscuit really. It was not even that busy at the time and I have worked in the trade before. On very busy days it can become stressful but you remember to stay calm. Firstly we moved from the noisy front garden as there was to much traffic passing and we could barely hear ourselves think (BH Monday traffic). I stupidly assumed that it would be ok to move tables and informed them that we had moved to the rear garden and where we were sat. This was met with clear annoyance & disapproval as it meant that he had to press 2 buttons on the till! Bit odd but I let it slide. A short while later the same man came out to bring food out to another table and was literally held up by our three year old who was walking back to our table for all of 2-3 seconds. He was just walking along the path, not saying anything or doing anything wrong. Clearly this was too much to deal with and he was told to 'go and sit down immediately'. This was deliberately said in earshot of us, his parents. How embarrasing for you??! He was simply stretching his legs after being stuck in the car and had been exploring the garden. I wonder if you would have said this if it had been another old person as they also walk a bit slower?? I very much doubt it... Our food was ok in terms of what it was and value for money and no qualms with the other staff who were perfectly polite. However this warrants a one star review and no return. I suggest if you have kids that you steer clear as you will be treated like second class citizens. Oh, and don't forget the put up the signs in the garden. Always good to be clear with people from the outset.

We selected The Windmill Inn as the destination for our shoot dinner this season and have been thrilled with both the service and food provided by Sarah, Peter and the rest of the team. It's our first year as a syndicate and the social element was really important to us but following a meeting with Peter & Sarah we were left with no doubt that we would be well-looked after. The Windmill Inn were always warm and welcoming, we had a private dining room where the fire was always lit, the drinks service was second to none and the food came out on time every time (and tasted great!). A huge thank you on behalf of all who joined throughout the season and we look forward to seeing you in Autumn. Will

Despite online reviews of a ‘grumpy’ owner we found him extremely friendly and helpful! The meal was delicious: I had the chicken and my husband had the sea bass, and the views towards the hills from the garden are superb. One tiny caveat is that I would suggest a proper topping on the apple and plum crumble, rather than a sprinkling of muesli. That said, I would highly recommend the Windmill Inn.
