Much improved beer garden. Pub grub is very good. Great service.

I go here for lunch regularly and have never been disappointed. There is a good range of choices on the menu, including a very good lite bite menu, and the prices are very reasonable. As an example, last week I had loaded chicken fajita chips, my friend had jacket potato with melted cheese, and we each had a pot of decaff tea. You are given a biscoff biscuit with your tea and a chocolate mint each on leaving. There is no problem asking for tap water, and this was provided with a slice of lemon and straw in each glass. The whole meal for 2 came to £17.10. It is very busy at the time we go, between 12-3pm, so it is necessary to book a table. It is waitress/waiter service, and the service is quick, in spite of it being busy. The staff are always lovely. You can also eat in the bar area but I think you have to order food at the bar. There is a large outside area protected from the sun with bench/tables. The car park can get full, but we have been able to park on the road behind the pub near the park so it doesn't interfere with the resident's parking. I can highly recommend The Beacon.

We have been visiting the area for some time now and this was our first visit to this pub. Great welcome, fantastic food, fantasic service and great atmosphere. Car parking may be an issue so best to park away in my opinion. Will be going back on our next visit.

Went last night for a bite to eat with a friend, not intending to have the Christmas menu however we decided to go for it. I had the turkey roulade lite bite, it was a good sized meal but it was also one of the nicest meals I have had this year. Always enjoy the food there but this was particularly good. Two young ladies served us and they were lovely. Well done and merry Christmas to all the staff.

Lovely food, polite staff, good beer

We were looking forward to a nice Sunday lunch having eaten other meals here in the past. We both ordered beef and expected a decent meal. On arrival the food looked lovely with plenty of meat but was so tough you couldn't chew it and the taste was so bland. The whole plate appeared to have been microwaved, the beef definitely was. We sent the food back and exchanged for chicken which was equally as bad. This is not a carvery and misrepresented on the menu as a 'roast' dinner, we were also told that the kitchen isn't big enough to do roasts. This is a step too far doing things on the cheap and charging £15 each. We were refunded and left disappointed. We will return here as other meals have been nice but not for Sunday lunch. The staff by the way were excellent.

Think the food is ok but just frozen warmed up no real attempt at actually cooking, nothing from the standard "McDonald's type " pub fare.

Really lovely place, the service is always a strong 10 out of 10 and the food is spot on, lovely place to come and have lunch but booking is advisable because it is a popular place 😀

Without doubt the best pub in town. Fantastic choice of draught beers & fantastic menu - all at the right price. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Good food, nice staff, great outside area. I also detest going to the pub when the football is on, but it wasn't loud and didn't ruin our experience at all.

Simply top pub food, good service. It was a busy evening and the pub had a good atmosphere. Burgers were good, rump steak was well cooked. Gammon was OK.

Popped in on the off chance for Saturday lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. The place was nearly full and for no particular reason than the place is popular. There are two menus, a normal portion size and a lite bite size, both very reasonably priced, and the puddings are large and filling. Well worth a visit every box ticked 😋👍

Called in for lunch. Very busy so we knew we would be in for a treat. Really reasonable prices. The Lite Bites lamb burger with chips etc was delicious and certainly filled me up. Hubby had the Chile con carne off the main menu. Best meal we've had in ages. Will come back for sure. With desserts and drinks came to £33- very impressed.

It is one of our favourite places to go for a meal. I had the light bite all day cooked breakfast, portion was just right, so enjoyable, presented well and cooked to a good standard, value for money, staff are warm and welcoming to guests, service was prompt, pub was cleaned and tidy as always, you can either eat in the restaurant or the bar, there is outside seating as well, reserving a table is recommended as this establishment gets so busy, you can book online or via the telephone. There have been some new meals added to their menu, well woth a visit.

Staff were polite courteous and respectful. Good atmosphere.

My family visited The Beacon Hotel on Thursday 05 September 2024 for a drink and a 'rest' between medical appointments at the nearby RSH hospital . The Beacon has 6 real ales on offer but nothing dark was available . Our son was stressed about his appointment and became distressed . Luckily the place was well spaced out and hopefully the other customers were not disturbed by his outburst . Sorry if it interrupted your lunch x

We visited on a weekday at lunchtime, & could tell that it was going to be busy, from the packed car park. So we were very pleased with the prompt & friendly service we received. The menu was fantastic, making it very difficult to choose our dishes. There were 3 adults & a baby in our party & we each thoroughly enjoyed our meals but struggled to finish them as the portions were plentiful. We will definitely recommend & hope to return again soon.

Good came on time and it was Delicious 😋. Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere was great. I recommend anyone who sees this to eat at the beacon because it will be worth it.

It’s really shame today was the England football I went to watch the football and was 8 people out side the door and Scuirty and the didn’t let us in even the didn’t let people watch sure the fence and that was nasty and all the bar was empty and Scuirty show his power says I will not let anyone in tel the game finish witch was really nasty way he says it is local pub and was not affected anyone if 8 more people in and second half was 10 people left I told him we should get in but he say I won’t let anyone in nasty way shame for local pub and the owner won’t have this pub again ever !!!

The beacon isn't our local but we go every week now for the quiz. The food is proper pub food for a reasonable price. The bar snacks and drinks are a great variety. We prefer this to our nearest pubs and will travel.

I've only just started going to The Beacon Pub fairly recently and because I've found it's really good and so much so, that it's even become a regular!🥰 This is simply because: the staff are lovely, friendly and helpful, the foods absolutely fantastic, and so what's not to like!🤩 It's really lovely sitting outside in the pubs front garden, with a tasty meal. The half price Friday fish offers brilliant and so worth it!Nice large fish😋 There's a pool table here and an outside kids play area for those with young children. They do a day time meal deal offer, that's also worth trying, especially the gammon and it's under what's called Light Snacks or Light Bites. Well worth paying a visit🥰 Thank you to the owners and staff for all your hard work in making it such a brilliant experience, as I just moved to this part of town, and love coming there:)

Comfortable pub with restaurant area attached at one end. Open plan so could become a bit noisy for anyone with hearing difficulties. Local beers (cask) available along with the usual keg taps. Sunday lunch was well worth going for. Same menu in restaurant as if eating in the bar area. The lite bite meals are also really good. Great terraced outside area with an imaginative children's play area. Staff were very smart, polite and attentive.

Well appointed old pub serving good selection of drinks and meals with excellent service and plenty of outside seating.

Lovely coffee and food at lunchtime along with great service

Stopped in at random for some lunch. It was fantastic food and a lovely place. The burger was amazing and the free pudding was beautiful. Staff were friendly and the pub was a lovely place to stop at. I couldn't believe how busy it was on a Tuesday lunch time! I can see why as it was so good!

Arrived at 12 pm, and there were already people waiting for the place to open. Very popular place I learnt. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. Service was great, polite staff, and did not have to wait long for food. Although it was busy, this did not slow the service and was not too loud. Certainly recommend and will be going back.

Very busy but decent food at reasonable prices. Attentive, pleasant staff. If I feel like like a decent pub meal in nice surroundings I would definitely go again but perhaps at a less busy time. This visit was on a bank holiday.

Sad to say we had an unusually poor experience at the Beacon. We've been coming here for years but tonight as soon as we arrived to our pre-booked table we were told we only had 1hr 15mins! How are you meant to enjoy a 2 or 3 course meal and catch up with friends in such a short space of time? The food was OK but smaller portion than usual, chorizo was overcooked, blue cheese sauce was watery, not thick and creamy :-( Nobody came to ask if our food was OK. Even though its table service we had to ask to order a 2nd drink but had to chase it up as it never arrived. Whilst waiting for the drink we got reminded that we needed to leave our table. Alot of new staff, it was a busy teatime but hope this was just a one off.

We came here on the 31/12/23. My dad is coeliac so when we found out he could have a gluten free bun we were quite impressed. It seemed no issue for our server Luke to check for us. He was very punctual and got back to us as soon as possible. Everyone in this pub is so happy and willing help to help us with our drinks. Thank you.

5th Dec 2023...10 of us dined here for our Christmas party. Food was cooked to perfection, plenty of it and staff were excellent. An excellent evening and as always the Beacon did us proud. Alan your team do you proud every day.

Fantastic food and they definitely have a pool table.

The meal we ordered was from the light bites menu, and even that was enough for a dinner. Really impressed with the staff and atmosphere here, the prices are really good and it was busy at 12pm. I've posted a photo of the 4oz steak dinner I ordered and despite it not being a blue steak it was amazing. Honestly they can not do enough for you in here and I cannot recommend it enough. Best meal I've had in a long time... oooh and the salted sticky toffee pudding was exceptional. Thoroughly enjoyed by all 8 of us.

Top notch grub, hubby says the beer was good and he's fussy, the puddings were outstanding. No photos unfortunately we were too busy eating lol

It is so good to have finally found a place in Shrewsbury that is so welcoming, friendly and supportive of special needs children. It is always a struggle for us to eat out as my son has autism and we experience fe a lot of judgment and sometimes rudeness in restaurants. The staff at the beacon are always smiling, friendly and kind to my son. We immediately feel relaxed here and enjoy our food and experience very much. Thank you for being here Beacon team!

Love this place! We go quite often and always satisfied with our visit in every aspect. Very reasonable prices, ( we usually pick from the ‘lite bite menu’) the staff are always very welcoming and accommodating, no complaints at all even if on the odd occasion something was not quite right with our order, it has always been put right. 🥰

I'm well known for picking fault with the smallest thing. Nicknamed Victor after Meldrew! I could find no fault here. Food excellent and each and every one of the staff were charming and helpful. Looking forward to trying Sunday lunch.

There were 18 of us and we had pre-ordered food , however , we had to wait an hour before it arrived then we were told we had to vacate the table by a certain time . None the less , it was a good experience and the food was very nice . The staff work very hard and are friendly and helpful.
