Windmill Fast Foods Ltd in Wealden

Ordered for our dinner tonight as our usual Chinese is closed. The food was so bad I couldn’t even finish my dinner! The prawn balls had raw dough in the middle, the shredded chilli beef was so sweet and acidic I couldn’t eat it, the ‘BBQ sauce’ tasted more like watered down veg gravy, the prawn toast was only 3 pieces making it £2 per small piece and we ordered duck in hoi sin sauce but only received the sauce WITH NO DUCK! On top of all of this we were over charged by £8 according to the menu they gave us when collecting. Our whole order cost over £50 when it would usually cost between £35-£40 in our usual Chinese. Please don’t waste your money here!

Be prepared to massively overpay for terrible food. Never again

After visiting the takeaway this evening, was shocked to witness an extremely rude man being very abusive to one of the young counter staff. Absolutely no back up from any senior staff or manager on duty, the poor lad was left very shaken, what ever happened to supporting the team 🤔

This take-away used to be amazing... It has rapidly gone down hill. I would not recommend you eat from here unless you're ready to overpay for the worst food you've ever had the mis-fortune to consume.

Really delicious food. Prepared fresh with a very small and acceptable wait time. We did have one issue with an item on our order but in the end it was customer error. Had a nice chat with the owner explaining things and he was really understanding. In the end our dish/order was correct. The owner was so nice and didn’t want us to go away with something that we may not have really wanted/been happy with that he cooked us a replacement from their menu that, based off of my description, was what we were after and what we probably should have ordered. So great customer service here too. Will we go back : yes definitely.

Food has gone downhill. Used to be our favourite. Chicken balls under cooked, crispy chilli beef tasteless and not crispy at all, more rubbery. Will be looking for an alternative.

2 new children behind the counter haven't been taught how to serve a portion of salt and pepper chips tiniest porotion i asked specifically for extra seasoning but still didn't put any on

Lovely food , really tasty!! Love there curry sauce and there spring rolls are dynamite Been using for a long time and never had an issue staff are friendly and premises are clean and modern Absolutely recommend but call early on a Fri and sat eve as can get very busy

Very disappointing. An hour and a half to wait for our meal - 30 mins longer than they advised. Duck dry, pancakes barely cooked, plum sauce unpalatably salty, house special chowmein bland and lacking, ribs in bbq sauce chewy and sauce like gravy. Complimentary prawn crackers were stale. Such a shame. Used to be so good. On top of that, the price has gone through the roof. Very polite and friendly staff is the only good point. Maybe it was an off day for the kitchen.

Food was absolutely disgusting, used to order from here all the time and it’s just gone downhill massively. was told it was a 20-30 minute wait for collection, arrived to the shop about 40 minutes after, to then sit in the shop which was packed and had a cat on the windowsill inside moulting everywhere (very hygienic) for a further 20 minutes get home and the food was barely warm, everything tasted reheated and all the chicken was dry, even the rice wasn’t pleasant to eat. Ended up throwing my whole meal in the bin because something just didn’t feel right. do not recommend won’t be ordering again

Chicken in the battered chicken balls were dry and tough. Order was later than the stated time. Prices are also high.

Used this takeaway for years & never had issues until recently. But last couple of visits I’ve had to wait 2 hours when told an hour , the most recent visit they gave us 2 portions of chow mein instead when we clearly asked for chicken curry . The chicken tasted awful , on my previous visit it made me ill, I was vomiting half the night after eating from here 🤮.. I don’t like giving bad reviews but honestly I would not waste your money or time visiting here for Chinese takeaway , the person taking the order doesn’t seem to listen as they misplace your order , it’s all a bit of an unorganised mess , Avoid !

I used to go here all the time but moved across town about 8 years ago. Their chicken curry is amazing!! Still come back now when I have a craving 🤣😋

Really wish that I’d listened to the reviews on here but thought I’d give it a fair try. Absolutely disgusting 🤢 worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. One dish was wrong and not what we ordered but all of it tasted disgusting, even the rice was bad, even the prawn crackers were awful. The rice tasted old and chewy and weird, definitely not fresh. The sauces on every dish were absolutely not right. Disgusting flavours and very watery thin. Everything was very greasy. Chicken dry/overcooked or old. I’ll never order here again.

It’s ok food, but quite bland. For some reason there is not a Chinese takeaway in Eastbourne that can master a sweet and sour sauce! The clue is in the name.

I asked For Chicken Chow main With sauce and they gave me a plane one! Horrible also second order was Chilly Prawns 🍤 paid for them and then said they don do them so why would u charge me for that ? I m won t recomand it! Horrible

Good place for a take away. Particularly enjoy BBQ ribs and the spring roll. Everything I have tried has always been very tasty. Pricing in line with most other similar food places. 100% worth a try.

The person who answered the phone was pleasant and the delivery was in the timeframe given over the phone - that's about the only good thing I can say. Delivery cost £3.70 - way more expensive than any other Chinese takeaways in the area. I had the Shredded Crispy Beef and Special Fried Rice. Hubby had the Beef Chowmein. My Crispy Beef was spicy, but tasted like the sauce came from a bottle or jar, which was very disappointing. The Special rice has some very small prawns, diced ham and peas in it - and tasted of nothing. Hubby declared his Beef Chowmein as bland and boring after just a couple of mouthfuls. First and last time using this takeaway.

Use this takeaway regularly. We had my mum to stay who is gluten free. Were told they were too busy to accommodate her so we had to leave ordering nothing. Very disappointing especially as they have a sign right next to where you place your order stating to ask about dietary requirements and they will accommodate. I also saw one of the chefs reaction to the guy taking my order and he dismissed us/it as if he couldn't care at all. Will think twice about giving this establishment my business in the future which is a shame as it is my local.

Absolutely ransid food, tasteless and bland and it was stone cold. The hottest thing about the meal was the sweet and sour sauce. Dont waste your money like i just did

Ordered a lovely Chinese they forgot the pancake rolls but after one phone call they were delivered within 15 minutes definitely going to use them again and again

Told an hour for delivery, finally turns up nearly double the time. Very small portions , food ok but better else where and DONT charge you £3.20 for delivery!!

Love their spring rolls. Usually buy 6 at a time and freeze 4 of them for through the week..

Busy take away, food was hot and well presented.

After waiting a hour longer than we were told,the food was bland, tasteless and oily which also tasted burnt! A real waste of money and also missed out on my daughter joining our family meal as it took too long.

Completely ignorant staff. Walked in today and qued patiently. Some man walks in barges straight to the front and starts giving his order while I get completely ignored but looked at by the staff. Walked straight out to a different Chinese that actually show respect to customers. Also 6-7 people waiting inside so poor covid measures. never returning

Is it possible to give 10 stars? Me and my husband have been eating here for years. And I can honestly say, weve never had a bad meal, delivery time has always been great and their crispy chilli beef is the bomb!!! It shows how amazing this place is, our record of calling them up to order was 167 times. Yes, we rang 167 times, and when we got through we ordered, got told 45 mins to an hour. Got in an hour and was so worth the wait. We are happy to sit dialling until we get answered. We will not go anywhere else. And through lockdown were really missing them.we need our with windmill fix. !!!

Just had an amazing Chinese meal, as always hot and delivered on time and delicious.

The fish was stale,the batter was overcooked and generally it was awful.

The windmill is a gift sent from heaven and is the food of the gods they should open a chain of them so people from across the globe can taste the wonders of the windmill chinese.

I must say this is the best Chinese Food in town. Its even better than dining one. As continental home food chef I highly recommend. I can taste the food have the quality without adding MSG. They also provide option S or Large portion. Very Good.

Its hard to find a good quality Chinese Take Away in the Hailsham, Stone Cross, Polegate area, bu this place is in my opinion the best in the area. Beware Cash Only, but there is a ATM nearby. The fish and chips are about average, but where they shine is the take away Chinese food. Beautifully cooked by experienced Chinese chef's with the kitchen on display for your entertainment whilst you wait for your order. This establishment has a fairly rare five star local authority food hygiene rating, most just manage three stars, to me that's important. Just make sure you check your order is correct, we had a cheaper dish substituted by mistake. There is an extensive range of dishes on offer at competitive prices.

Food was average, portions were half size yet price is around 50% more than any other chinese, £5.10 for half a portion of chicken fried rice?!

Id give 0 stars if I could. A waste of £65. Such a bland unseasoned meal. Sweet & sour sauce was just sweet as if the vinegar had been forgotten, chow mein had no flavour, duck cooked well but plum sauce so watery, pork was tough and chewy. Egg fried rice with hardly any egg and prawn crackers tasted of old oil. They only take cash! Sounds suspect to me...... Used because Chinese New year had closed our favourite - back to Tasty Wok next time.

I've been using this takeaway on and off for years. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal from here. Yeah sometimes it's better then others but never bad. What's really cool is there's five in my house all with different eating likes so real nice to get oriental for some and fish and chips for others all from the one place. Definitely worth a visit the staff will happily modify any dish for you to.

We live not far from windmill Chinese take away cafe two doors down from Tesco's the staff here are extremely polite and very helpful thay also do a fish and chips menu to and a curry with rise and poppadoms if you prefer this instead of the traditional Chinese meal this place comes extremely popular to all the locals and holiday makers in the summer months it is always busy well worth booking etheir a take away were you collect it your self or you can arrange to have it delivered buy there own vehicles and staff you do have to pay for delivery if you live beyond so many miles ask wene telephone them it is always best to telephone before you arrange a delivery or self collection as it is so popular that on Friday evening's and Saturday evenings thay do get extremely busy and there can be kwight a long waite if you just turn up all ways best to always telephone before hand the food is awesome we have tried the fish and chips menu and the curry menu to and meny different types of Chinese food here to over the years I would most definitely recommend it to everyone 10 out of 10 magnificent there is a massive car park here as you would expect with the small Tesco's just two doors down and more parking round near the estate agent there two food is magnificent are favourite Chinese take away in the whole area

Don't get takeouts very often but have tried most Chinese takeouts in our area. This was the first one we tried when we moved to polegate 5 years ago, didn't think much of it then so we naturally tried others. But finally gave in and gave it another go last week, probably the best Chinese takeaway I've had since we moved here. Will use it again and so should you.

Me and my family have always ordered from windmill and up until the past 2 times the food has been ok. The food has gone down hill drastically and I will no longer be ordering from here, for the prices they charge I would expect there food to stay good instead it's tasteless and noodles are mushy.

Really disappointed, enough so to write a review. Service was lovely, food order was incomplete, which they did rectify quickly.. however, the salt and pepper chicken, looked and tasted like it was cooked in dirty oil, rock hard and tasted awful.. All a little disappointing, hopefully just a unlucky night, but wont chance it again.

It's OK here, not my first choice locally but others were shut. Unable to get through on phone for 20 mins so drove over to order. Don't accept cards: come on, this is 2019. The food was ok, nothing special. The place is tatty inside and grubby around the door and heater with lots of dust and dirt. Food prep area seems ok though, which is the important thing.

By far the very very best Chinese takeaway for miles!!!

Massively overpriced compared to others in the area. Even London prices are ~£3-4 cheaper per meal. ALWAYS delayed even when phoning you order ahead, that's if they haven't taken the phone off the hook. We used to use them for years, but have now switched to Hoisum in the town centre. Much better service, price, and quality of food; albeit collection only (They also have a sit-in restaurant).

Order food from windmill quite regularly! it’s been a few times now they have missed dishes and I was told I’d get them on my next order, this time I spoke to the manager who said they have no record! After telling him that it was agreed I’d get them on my next order he turned round and said he will deliver this last time and to take my custom elsewhere after years of using them! Not to mention the waiting times for food with no apology. Not happy with this customer service at all

Always good food. Can be exceptionally busy which can mean a wait, but they still do what they do best even when under pressure. Thoroughly recommend.
