Wimpy in Hillingdon

Oh my goodness. This was great. We had quarter pounders and hunters chicken chips. Lovely, staff very, very lovely. I may move in.

I used to eat here regularly while working nearby back in the 90's and 00's. The service is always brilliant, surroundings are nice and clean, but the burgers are the real deal, and their chips are always nice and crispy, this goes for all the Wimpys I have visited over the years, the meat in the burgers is really tasty, I always felt I had a proper meal when I have had a Wimpy. They have changed the menu a bit and I believe you can't have a 'kingsize' (double) burger any more unless they have changed it back, good value for money though with s cup of tea, clean restaurant and relaxing. I plan to visit again next summer to re-live the experience from 22 years ago.

Terrible, arrogant senior staff couldn’t even put a vegetarian patty available on the adult menu into a bun for the kids menu given there was no vegetarian kids burger. When asked why not, couldn’t give a reason. “Computer says no.” Inflexible staff, total lack of ability to communicate. Customers mean nothing here, pretty much told us we could walk out and go somewhere else. 8pm, 2 hungry kids aged 5 and 7. Plenty more places to eat, strongly recommend taking your money elsewhere. Never had a problem at any other restaurant getting a veggie burger, especially seeing they do stock them. Get with the times Wimpy Ruislip.

The napkin might say born in 1954 but it had been around for twenty years in the US. The sixty-odd branches that survive over here today is about 13 percent of what there were at the brands height in the seventies. Their HQ is in Marlow and until a couple of years ago the picturesque town fittingly had a branch and it was a good one - my local Wimpy in fact. The staff were great, the food the best the brand offered anywhere and it was usually full of diners. Which is why when it suddenly closed disappointment was mixed with amazement. As a kid in the sixties and seventies I was a big fan of the Wimpy Bar (as we called it back in the day). The menu is a testament to the adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it" so I have remained a fan. When Marlow branch closed my next nearest was Amersham. Then last year that closed too. Which brings us to Ruislip. When you walk down Ruislip's main drag towards the Wimpy you inevitably go by a McDonald's. It is on the same side just a few doors before. It will be teeming and the clientele will be a reflection of all those who use the town or live in it. No less than you might expect. Then you approach the Wimpy. The last two occasions I went to this branch were on a Saturday and a Monday lunchtime but this observation holds true for 90 percent of the times I have visited the chain over the past ten years or more: it is two thirds empty and most of those present will be on a nostalgia trip from the days we put the word Bar after the name. I have stated in other reviews that McDonald's and it's ilk are for those who want to grab a meal and wolf it down in seconds. Quality comes second. Don't get me wrong, I occasionally have one myself (although I prefer the flame grilled taste of BK) so I concede they provide an important product. But for the life of me I cannot understand why Wimpy is diminishing as a chain at the rate it is? It can't all be the bizarre taste of their lime milkshake. The taste of their Special Burger Sauce makes up for that! Maybe it's the curiously named Bender-In-A-Bun that keeps folk away. You tell me. I mean, just look at the rating for this particular branch. At the time of writing most everyone has given it full marks and no one just one out of five - no one! That is rare. So those that try the food are praising it more than almost anywhere. And here is the final irony. That Maccy Dee's just up the way...the one overflowing with customers - it currently has two out of five on this website. Go figure that one out.

Really good!!!! Got this on Uber eats & I don’t usually make reviews but I feel the need as the food was really fresh and tasty! And piping hot. Will Be back again very soon!!!! New fav :)

First the good bit the restaurant was very clean and the staff very helpful. Ordered 3 quarter pounders and chips for me my wife and daughter. While they were cooked ok they must have used the cheapest ingredients available, the burgers were no thicker than a ten pence piece and considering the price were not good value. Tasted like they had bought 10 burgers for a pound from the shop next door, certainly not quarter pounders.

A very clean place and a very pleasant ambiance. The burgers we had were delicious, ai am sorry I didn’t take a photo of them as we started eating straight away. The manager and the workers there are very friendly and open, also the place has a lot of potential for bigger parties or events. The ingredients in the food are very fresh and the sauces are home made! Very rare thing in restaurants nowadays! The meat inside the burgers was even better cooked! Don’t even compare it to Mc.Donalds or any other places. A very very nice experience for our first time in a “Wimpy” place. Thanks!

Food from this Wimpy is consistently good whether eating in or having food delivered. Burgers are excellent quality and the chips are the best 😀

Burgers are fine, Chips not great. The place is often empty due to its position in Ruislip high street. Service is great, burgers are fine but sides are not good. Chips have too much oil

This Wimpy is at the far end of the High Street and offers the standard Wimpy menu. We have always had good service and are very happy with this restaurant

We visit this Wimpy once a month sometimes twice, the food is allways freshly cooked and very tasty, we allways have the same meals and drinks and the food is of a consistantly high standard, and good value for money. The place is very clean and the staff very friendly.

It's an ok burger joint and the staff are nice, but probably not somewhere I'd choose to go unless I was desperate for fried food!

We were in the area and thought we would pop in as we managed to get a space outside!

Last time I went to a Wimpy was in the 80s so was intrigued when we saw this. Food on offer is wide ranging, a cross between a cafe and burger joint so plenty of choice. I ordered a build your own burger which I really enjoyed. The patty had a taste that took me back to my childhood and distinctly different than those you get from the 2 other big chains. Thoroughly enjoyed it and even the fries were very good. It is a restaurant as opposed to fast food, even though it was quite quick. Priced right for the level of service and food. Staff were nice. Definitely go back again.

Typical diner food. Good burger, onion rings and shake. Efficient service and spotless. Accessible from the high Street.

Visited here with my family lovely as always. Always freshly cooked and much better than Mcdonalds up the road. Staff were really friendly too and service was excellent and quick. Will no doubt be coming back soon. Thanks again

Went here on my own. Finally a place with great seating facilities (something to be appreciated ). Food was average. Had spicy chicken which was cooked really nice. Fries could have been more tasty specially when thinking that the price for the meal was £8.50. Would maybe considering coming back.

It si a Wimpy so not much more to say however the staff were very friendly the food excellent ( as always ) . Good wi fi connections and nice clean toilets . Not too busy unlike the other fast food places in Ruislip. It is good to be able to sit down , eat and chat quietly

This Wimpy was advertising in 1986 so has been on the site for 30+ years. Now modernised inside, it is spacious, well lit and open from 10am to 9pm or 10 pm on Fridays to Saturdays. I was there because my hotel's Beefeater looked too steak heavy for me, and the Wimpy menu gives you a calorie score for every item. I was able to order a haddock with salad without chips, followed by an Eton mess (meringue and raspberries) and a large drink for £11.20, and pay by contactless debit card. Service was OK too with plenty of room, although some seats rather hard. Somehow this branch has evaded Trip Advisor but I would visit again. Photos to follow
