Wimpy in Maldon

First visit since this restaurant changed from being a Wimpy to now being called The Diner, I believe it’s the same people running it but a vast improvement now. A great choice on the menu and the food is 100% better than it was before. I had the half pounder and chips and my wife had gammon egg and chips, both were well presented and tasted lovely. She managed to fit in sticky toffee pudding and custard which looked lovely and she said it tasted great. There is a good selection on offer here at very reasonable prices, well worth a visit.

John and I went into the Wimpy at Maldon Friday 28th Jan. Again we were very impressed by the whole Wimpy experience. The food was absolutely delicious and freshly cooked. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. I rate this Wimpy ten out of ten. I thoroughly recommend this Wimpy. Thankyou.

Food was cold especially the burger which I assume they defrosted but didnt heat it through. My hubby had a grill only hot food was the fries and beans. Really awful meal will never return.

ordered a coke it came as pepsi and it was flat but apparently i couldn’t change my mind on my drink because of ‘sugar tax’ and they were extremely rude about it! i work in a cafe myself and know the customer is always right and if they couldn’t do it they could have said it nicely the woman in there is so rude. also the kids meal/ it clearly says sausages and chips, peas or beans.. that means sausage with chips, COMMAR, and choice of peas or beans.. there is no other way to read that but they reckon its a choice between chips or peas or beans.. who has a sausage with just peas?! a load of rubbish and not the case in any other wimpy. they are stingy and the place is empty every time i walk past. a little bit of politeness and not being stingy can go a long way!

I am a 43 year old man so I grew up with the Original Wimpy store, I was very disappointed to see how bad this chain has become. Would not come here come, It smelt at the atmosphere was bad.

Always get a warm welcome and excellent food and service here... and lots on the menu to pick from too!

We use Wimpys for lunch and like their clean good quality food and friendly staff and fair prices. We have never been let down .

This cafe can be found near the top of the High Street, the staff there are friendly, they can provide you with some coffee or other drinks plus a nice burger & chips all for a very reasonable price.

Great place for a burger n chips great staff too, felt welcome and would go back. I didn’t find much place on the high street to eat...

Havent seen a wimpy for years ,so went for lunch out of nostalgia but thoroughly enjoyed it ,took a friend with me and we thought it was excellent value

We like going to the old country town of Maldon & after browsing around the shops we have a break for refreshments & quite often visit this cafe. They make a nice cup of coffee & can provide you with some hot or cold snacks all of which are very reasonably priced.

We used to visit Wimpy quite a lot, so we thought a trip to Maldon would be great, how wrong we were, I suppose we should have been wary when we walked in and there were no other customers, a young man brought us menus and we started to have a look, the prices for what is in all intents and purposes quite high, nearly £3 for a portion of chips, I opted just to have some tea, my husband ordered fish and chips, when his meal arrive he cut into the fish, it was overcooked and looked and felt like rubber, the owners wife came over and he explained there was a problem with the fish, she told him to taste it, he pointed out that he was not happy to taste it as he could see quite clearly there was a problem with it, she said he could not change it and as she walked away she told us to leave, even the young man who served us looked shocked by that, we left them to the empty shop and went to gregs next door.

Popped in for lunch. Had Scampi and chips. Lovely full plate of well cooked food. Good customer service

We'd planned to take our young son out for dinner but our planned restaurant was full, child was getting grumpy so we dived in here for the first time. So glad we did as this place is perfect to take kids! The service was brilliant and the food was cooked well for what it was and the quick delivery of it was a real bonus. We would definitely return, it made for a really stress free meal out with a toddler.

Ive never eaten in a wimpy before, the food selection and prices were fantastic. Kids meals were goid with a ganes sheet. They were flexible with extras and the staff were very pleasant. Thank you fir a good service

If you are in Maldon & fancy a break then why not visit this little place, they can provide you with hot & cold snacks & well as tea & coffee & all for a reasonable price.

OK the place was clean but in my view the bread in the burger roll was stale so making the meal less than ideal. Drinks OK . Prices fair as it is served on a real plate.

This little diner always offers excellent fresh cooked food. There is waiter/waitress service and the staff are very friendly. Clean and tidy and there is also a loo.
