Wimpy in Shropshire

The staff wore good smiles and were polite and kind. Like I said to them, their chips beats every other brand chips I’ve had. I had to go back with my husband to order for him and myself again (after just about 3 hours after my first single order)

I was down in Shrewsbury for the Football & with this Wimpy being right near my Hotel it was the perfect location for my Dinner then Breakfast the following day, I use the Birkenhead one sometimes so was already familiar with the Menu. Both times i found the staff to be very friendly, If you had a question they where able to help right away On both visits it was quiet which meant not a long wait for the food, Both times the food tasted amazing, The Milkshake was really good aswell! As i said it was quiet on both visits and that is likely due to the cost of the Food, If the price was a bit lower it may help attract more regular Customers to keep amazing places like here going.

Went into wimpy, hadnt been in for a while i didnt really have much time to look at the menu when I ordered so requested the deals on the table promotions, ordered 2 special wimpy 14.50 for 2 burgers & chips and 2 for 1 dessert & 2 teas, waiter took promotion info away. food was not great but at the price thought it was ok., Only to be shocked at payment £32.00 at till was then told offers ordered did not apply on saturdays, the staff did not mention that the offer was only Mon-friday. Feel conned, as he could have said

If you want a freshly cooked burger everytime, this is the place to come! Forget McDonald's they cannot hold anything to Wimpy. Fresh everytime and the milkshakes are better than McDonald's. It might be more money, you will enjoy it here. Let's not forget the table service! They come to you. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the Uk's best burger joint. It's so good I drove over 100 miles just to ckeck this place out. Thank you. Brilliant service.

I thought I would like a Wimpy bar. I liked the nostalgic feel of it. The staff were smiley and polite. Can’t fault them. The place was quiet because, even given its excellent location, it’s just too dear. You couldn’t afford to take your family here. It’s not the staff’s fault. I was thirsty. £3.50 for a Coke. Excuse me. Is it the size of a bucket? Doubt it. £3.50!!! I left disappointed by such blatant over-pricing.

Decided to pay it a visit as it brings back childhood memories! Nice and clean, and couldn’t fault the service. Food was decent (double cheeseburger & chips & drink) but the PRICE..! £14.90..!! I know that the reply will say that the prices are “carefully reviewed” but there is an award winning burger place (won’t say the name) literally around the corner and they do a double cheeseburger and fries (minus drink) for £11.50…. Sorry Wimpy but I won’t be back, which is a shame. Just too expensive for what it is..

I haven't seen nor had a wimpy in a VERY long time AND now I know why!!!!It was terrible.The "beef"in the burger wasn't very good quality at all...it tasted cheap plus it was wafer-thin AND at £5.10 wasnt good value for money would expect a little better especially from a place that's been around since 1954!!!!Burger ended up in the bin.Wont be rushing back

Went here this morning for "elevenses" - one americano plus a toasted tea cake with butter and jam - and one slice of toast and marmalade with a pot of tea for one. The restaurant was spotlessly clean also the cutlery and crockery too. The staff were polite and informative. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The pot of tea provided two cups and my husband, the coffee drinker, was asked if he would like hot or cold milk. The last time we had been in a Wimpy Bar was probably 40 years ago, we didn't know they still existed and if the Shrewsbury one is anything to go by, we are very glad they do! Brilliant!

Welcomed by some wonderful staff but when meal arrived I was shocked to see that the cost did not much the quantity and needed to order more

The chips were cold, the meat in my wrap was cold, ice cream was almost runney and the milk shake didn't taste like a milkshake. Not even worth the money I paid for it

It's been years and years since I've been in a Wimpy restaurant. We had 2 original burger meals and a chicken burger meal. Two milk shakes one strawberry and one banana. Burgers were lovely and the chips were lovely and crisp as well.with lots of sauce options as well. The chicken burger meal was also lovely with lovely crisp chips. The milk shakes were really thick and lovely. Good atmosphere. Great friendly service and staff .overall a really nice meal. If you find this review helpful please press like thanks. 👍

Unfortunately not a good experience. Fries were cold and hard. Bugger so small and didn't even fit the bun. The chicken wrap was miniscule, the chicken was small like a nugget. Sorry would not recommend.

Fantastic service, really great food and drinks. Restaurant was super clean and tidy .Definitely coming back.

I say 1 star BC my friend Xander asked for a napkin and then the man when he finished his shift he absolutely battered him just for asking for a napkin. I don't recommend it BC the staff are really rude BC my dad asked for a coffee and then the staff slid it across the table and the coffee went everywhere on my dad.

Just when you think you've found the best, It gets even better. This place is amazing! Lovely, bright, welcoming, clean place. Food is delicious, cooked to order, fresh, hot and served promptly. Service is exceptional. Staff are friendly, super-helpful, and efficient. The milkshakes are to die for and the tea is served in proper cups so it stays hot!

Went today, was completely blown away by the service and attention we were given. Better than excellent the food was great value for money it was hot and fresh. Staff were exceptional. Well done to you all. We will definitely be back.

i use to love the wimpy back in the day , the prices explain why they have been over taken by other convince food outlets , with almost £40 spent on a meal for two we could have done so much better in a pub , i will use wimpy again the service was wonderful its got to be noted , but i do think it will be as frequent as we would like

A lovely Wimpy, that transported me back to my childhood in the late 80s. The ceramic plates and proper cutlery... Service was excellent and friendly and the food was spot on. 👌 Brilliant

I popped in as I have'nt had a Wimpy in years! Had the Sausage Egg and Chips and a Coffee. Food was very nice and tasty and all for under a tenner too.Customer Service was Fantastic and the Staff were very friendly. I would recommend popping in and they also do Take Away if you are on the move. Will certainly be returning next time I visit Shrewsbury.🍽☕😊

We always come here for breakfast whenever we are in Shrewsbury. Great service, lovely friendly staff, consistent quality food.

We had two wimpy breakfast and drinks, my son had pot tea, which gave him several cups of tea, breakfast came extremely quickly, plenty for money. I can highly recommend this place, all the staff where pleasant and helpful, place was airy clean, tidy, not cramped in like most eating places in Shrewsbury town centre. It's in convenient location in the town and I will definitely be returning.

Got to travel a bit to get to it but well worth it 😁

Poor quality food for the price, plenty of other local business's who charge the same for better quality food. Coffee was weak, service was OK, if you asked a question they were abrupt.

I hadn't been to a Wimpy in decades, very pleased to find we have one here in Shrewsbury. Took the children for a meal here and we all loved it, very clean and the staff are lovely.

First time eating at wimpy we had breakfast here, which was really nice but I would say expensive. The staff were great and there is wheelchair access.

Went there for the first time, our order was taken by a lovely staff member who was very pleasant. Order was served, I went with my daughter she had 4 chicken strips with chips these were ok, and I ordered grilled chicken. We started eating, my chicken had a very strong unpleasant smell, could tell that it was not fresh meat, took 2 bites of it and then I stopped eating it as it tasted horrible, again not fresh. My daughter also smelt it and agreed did not want to taste as it had a horrible smell to it. We informed the waitress of this she agreed with us, stated that all that she knows is that they put the chicken in the freezer but nothing else in terms of where they keep it and how fresh it is and what they do with it. She stated she will take it off the order for us and we wont have ro pay for it, the boss of the place then arrived and the waitress informed us that she will inform the boss of this problem. The boss didn't come to speak to us at all. She didn't know much english and used her phone to be able to communicate and translate to understand what the waitress was telling her. She put the chicken in the bin and stated that we have to pay for it as we ate half of it, which is not true as I only had 2 bites of it max, nowhere near half. The waitress came back to us informed us of this we went and paid for everything. The waitress confirmed that it is not ok to be charged for this as she saw that I only ate a very small amount of it and apologized to us we said it's ok as it is not her fault and she was very friendly and helpful to us. A very disappointing first time experience, we will not go back there again.

The delivery driver made excellent time, shame the ETA was way out when I placed the order.

Visited here on a little trip to Shrewsbury for lunch a little while ago. The staff were friendly and service was good. We enjoyed our meal and the milkshakes were tasty. Overall we had a good experience however it’s definitely not value for money, especially with the burger and chips which is very basic. The menu is also limited.

Great service, food was hot and arrived quickly. Staff even made a fuss of my daughter, whose birthday it was.

3 of us came in, one of us a Wimpy newbie, I've not had one since I was 15...many years ago 😁 Nice to see it's still table service and an extensive menu. We all ordered and the food came hot and fresh, stayed hot till the last bite, the advantage of being cooked to order 🤩. Seemed busy and the team were bringing orders out in a quick and timely manner. Place was clean and fresh with a vibrant decor. Food was decent for a fast food like you’d expect normal fast food atmosphere however when our drink were being taken a way they where knocked over and spilt on us we did get a discount though

I went in expecting it to be like McDonalds or burger king, but it's a table service restaurant with lots of options on the menu. I had a quarter pounder, fries and a milkshake which was nice, but for the money I would rather have a Five Guys.

Poor value. This was not an experience I'd recommend. The staff were pleasant, this was no compensation for awful quality food. Perhaps Wimpy need to revise their offerings.

Food was ok, when the correct items came, asked for No cheese on two burgers, got cheese on both. Should have had tomato, none. Took 35 mins from order to service, too cook two burgers and one portion of chips, got two lots of chips sent oneback. Don't know if charged for the extra chips as itemised bill taken away and final recipt was just the total amount Also although child care is expensive four children who obviously belonging to a member of staff, playing catch ball, limbo dancing and generally running about between the tables and Infront of the front door, is not what you would expect while waiting for an excessive time for food which is not as requested. Try elsewhere!!!!

After a lovely long walk from the weir, along the river, then the dingle, we decided to stop for lunch. We were checking the wimpy menu outside the restaurant when a female member of staff asked me, my wife and our two children to come inside and take a seat, I informed her we were checking the menu first but, that staff member just stood there over us at the entrance door as to wait for our reply instead of allowing us to make our decision, the children chose to go inside. Once inside we sat and spread ourselves out along the wall bench seat for space as we were tired, had rucksacks, umbrellas and coats because it had been raining hard that afternoon, but the same female member of staff came over and asked us if we would seat at a table for four, which we did reluctantly. However afterwards and looking around, the restaurant was only 10% full and remained that throughout and other single costumers were allowed to sit at these four seater areas and not requested to sit at single or double placements. We looked through the menu and thought it seamed a little expensive but ordered anyway as we were not sure of portion size, we were all disappointed, very small so it was over priced. However, the food was well cooked, the place was clean and you got table service hence why I given two stars but, we will not be going back, we’d sooner go to McDonald’s, collect our food, get more bang for my buck and be allowed to sit where ever the hell we like and not be interrupted by another staff member talking to us while we eat!!!

Not quite the Wimpy as I remember it but wimpy nonetheless

First time Wimpy in my life! Greeted by a friendly waitress who took our order. Not sure what to expect as I've never been to a Wimpy before, but it just reminds me of a standard caf. Food is OK, not the best or the worst. If you're looking for a greasy spoon, this is not it. It's a level above! Could do with a little sprucing upstairs to match downstairs, but otherwise fine!

Food is pricey, portions small. Staff were helpful. Just overall did not think it was good value for money.

Came here today (18th July 2023) with my daughter, I promised her a nice meal after her blood test, and we came here just on a off chance from trying to find a cafe, and stumbled upon wimpy, the food was nice, the staff was amazing and the pricing wasn't that bad at all either. Will definitely be going again.

Aggressively stalked by a male whilst attempting to access the washroom prior to ordering lunch. Adamant that we needed a permit pre ordering food!!! I advised that we wish to wash our hands pre eating .. attempting to be Covid friendly.. However we were greeted repeatedly by telling us we needed a permit and “no no no”!!! This made us feel terribly uncomfortable in that environment.. We now realise why this place is empty and without patrons.. My advise.. stay well clear of the bulldog .. Ps… I recall the wimpy slogan.. “ there’s always a warm welcome at the wimpy”!! Clearly human decency gone!!!

Busy Bank Holiday Monday and we initially dismissed Wimpey. So pleased we went in. Service brilliant, food spot on. Clean. Great price. Really enjoyed our meal.

Service good staff friendly and efficient but the burger patty seemed low quality all smothered with a poor sauce, cheap burger van vibe, not that appetising. Spicy “Mexican” chips just fries with an unimpressive powder flavouring not great for £3. Many good and interesting food options available around nowadays need to up their game to be competitive. Shame as sometimes fancy a burger lunch but won’t return.

Pretty decent place. Was my first time having it though lol. The fries are nice and so is the chicken and bacon bbq wrap. The mozzarella melts are amazing though!

Took my two kids for lunch looking for somewhere to sit down and relax whilst eating. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated although it was extremely hot to the point of being uncomfortable for us. When asked they did turn the heating down. The service was ok but honestly, 2 kids burgers and one adult meal for almost £30 was disproportionate to the quality of the food in my opinion. I really didn’t enjoy the burger from the bun which was dry to the burger which i found really bland. It honestly was the most flavourless burger I can recall eating full stop. The fries were good though but the portion was quite modest. All in all the restaurant was ok but i found the food just wasn’t enjoyable and in my opinion there is much better out there for less. Not somewhere I would return to.

I had a double cheese burger and fries to take out, the portion size was that small I almost ate it all before I got to the hole in the wall pub opposite I paid buy card and notice afterward I paid around £11 for it very expensive I did have a drink on me and wondered if they took advantage on my card

Not been to a Wimpy for years. Better than my local one i used to go to. Good value for money, had the breakfast was quite good. A very good coffee also.
