We received our food promptly and politely, the bill was ok. Nice clientele. I would certainly use again. The premise is well decorated and you can use the hotel’s carpark.

We visited Wilson's Coffee Shop in the Wynnstay to have afternoon tea. The coffee shop was very accommodating of both our one year old, and our small dog. Our first impression is that the décor of the coffee shop is visually appealing. The service was great, and the food was tasty. I particularly enjoyed my jasmine tea. They were able to provide a vegetarian afternoon tea and the sandwiches were both varied and appetising. I'd happily go back if we were in the area again.

Visited yesterday for my sisters Birthday, we were not impressed. We ordered for from the menu, to be told that the 3 dishes we ordered were “off” as they all contained eggs and they had no eggs, so we chose again. We asked about the soup to be told we couldn’t have the soup, we needed to go into the hotel restaurant or bar to be served soup. The coffee we ordered arrived but no food, by the time the food arrived the coffees were drunk. We asked if we could have a coffee order again but we were told we would have to go to the till, order and pay there for another drink, all whilst the food that had just arrived was getting cold! After eating my sister went to order another coffee, 20 minutes and a prompt later her black coffee arrived, how long does it take to a make 1 drink? There were no more than 15 people in there the whole time we were but it still took ages to get served. I tried to give in a voucher for money off the food, but was told that only applied in the hotel - no where on the voucher did it say that, so I told the waitress I wouldn’t be bothering again, and hey presto the money off was accepted. Whilst I was waiting for my food I popped to the shop 3 doors down, they had eggs for sale in great quantities , it’s a pity no one took the initiative at Wilson’s and went and bought some. We won’t be returning anytime soon.

I visit Wilson’s & The Wynnstay most days and it’s always a pleasant experience. The team are a delight, the food is always great and the service is always fresh. I come from a hospitality background and I have to say, the team today 1/06/22 did a great job at handling 2 very rude customers. Some things always go wrong that’s life, but to belittle other humans, of which are much younger than the couple in question and over the smallest of issues. Congrats wilsons team for your handling of this couple and the treats for posting images and a bad review. You did all you can and rectified the issue that had no need to be addressed in the manner it was. Be kind 👌🏼

I believe this hotel which also means Wilson’s Bar is under new management. We have eaten here on many occasions and were initially disappointed. Told where the reserved table was. Not offered any drinks and had to ask for the menus . The lady who took the orders appeared rushed off her feet, the older bar manager appeared less so ! - think he was the manager. Menu was very comprehensive and once we found our way round it was ok. Food came out within ten minutes of order - good. Will return as its a nice place to eat .

We booked a table of 5 for 14.45 on Saturday afternoon. Waitress cleaned our table well before we sat down. We ordered drinks and we're left menus to decide what we wanted to eat. They weren't particularly busy. . One of our party ordered a pint of Moose beer which he returned to the bar (it had a strange taste). He ordered a glass of red wine which was brought to the table and on the house ( nice gesture and apologized for the Moose beer) After almost an hour nobody had come to the table to take our order. We got up went to the bar to pay for our drinks, I payed the bill and noticed they had still charged us for the Moose Beer. I pointed this out to the young gentleman at the bar ( I think he was the manager) who then refunded me the cost of the Moose. I then said we were leaving without having had anything to eat after waiting almost an hour to be served. He said absolutely nothing! No explanation no apology nothing!!!! Will NOT be returning.

Recently been to Wilson’s for a birthday lunch and hand on heart it was a very pleasant lunch,we turned up on the off chance which was proving to be a very busy lunch time ,apparently they had one or two large party’s and were awaiting quite a few for their reserved tables ,at one point we thought we were in for a disappointment with not booking, but we were met by delightful staff that eventually found us a table ,bought us menus and drinks and yes there was a bit of a wait but we fully understood nobody was just hanging around ,they were apologising running around smiling and caring for everyone in turn.......the menu was full of everything from pizzas to steak and from what we could see a lot of the items were homemade which is a bit of a rarity now a days ,the steak was perfect for me in fact I commented on it being the best steak I had ever tasted ,husband enjoyed homemade chunky fish fingers ,finished off with marscapone cheesecake all nicely presented ,yes you might pay a bit little bit more than you’re use too for a lunch time but when you receive a meal that good you don’t mind paying.........being local we will most certainly have a return visit and maybe try their Sunday lunches but I’ve a feeling it would be wise to book next time .

Very disappointed with the standard of food at Wilson’s. The burger, pizza and calzone were all very bland. Really could of done with some seasoning of some sort. The burger was dry and the bun was just about holding one piece of lettuce and a slither of tomatoe. The calzone had far too much cheese in it and again no taste. However cannot fault the presentation and service. Apparently they have recently changed their chef. I probably wouldn’t recommend eating there at the moment.

Observed similar issue with another table, indeed the lady went to get her sauce. When they left , three times the waiter brought food and drink to others tables, but didn't think about clearing any plates etc. Customers came in who clearly wanted to sit at tables that were not cleared. When we finished our own main meal, table not cleared, we expected to be asked if we wanted a dessert, but no , so we left. Clearly staff training required. No tip left!

Went for a lighter tapas lunch with a companion. I don't eat tapas often, so am not an expert, but what we were served was delicious to me, cooked to perfection. Prices were very reasonable, and 5 tapas dishes between the two of us was just right. If rated only by the food, I would give 5 stars. What pulls the rating down is the service. Speed of service was OK at the start, but the order was taken a bit carelessly, resulting in a small error in the food received. However, once finishing the meal it took ages to get the table cleared, ages to order dessert, ages to get the dessert, ages to get the bill and ages to pay. Partly this seemed to be due to a lack of waiting staff for the number of customers, but also partly due to a lack of awareness of customer needs. This would deter me from visiting again, but if improved would make this restaurant really excellent.

We booked this afternoon tea for our Ruby Wedding anniversary with our daughter and father in law. Disappointed from the outset. The tea served in Wilsons Bar, whose surroundings weren’t great. One loan waitress who seemed too rushed to be bothered. Had to ask for hot water for the tea, the pot only half full to start with. Crockery, thick white, cups and saucers were mismatched. We asked for more tea and a coffee (which was served as one cup), no extra milk brought. Tea - not great, tea bags, have to accept that! Sandwich selection, pretty routine, brown bread had been left standing as slightly stale. Cakes ok. I’m afraid waitress service was poor, due to her being alone. When the bill came, we were charged extra for the second pot of tea and a cup of coffee, when challenged that this was not our normal experience, no apology. Wynnstay, I would have expected more from you! We won’t be back, there are far better experiences in the area.

A narrow strip of a bar with a good back conservatory, we popped in for a cocktail after being disappointed by the Cemist and weren't disappointed by the drinks and the clear passion of the bar staff. A little bit showy on occasion (I always thought being flashy was just an American thing to get tips so unecessary over here) but the goods were always delivered. My other half had a pint of hand pull bitter which was well kept and delicious. Didn't try the food but will certainly be in to give it a go as it smelled delicious! The reason I put "strange" in the title was that the clientele seemed a bit cliquey, almost like a middle class working men's club (with martinis instead of pints of mild) but I guess that's what happens with such a small bar with a loyal following! Good soundtrack too.

Something has gone a little bit wrong with this place that is so close to getting it right... Sadly if you are going to spend this sort of money you would do better to go elsewhere. Three of us arrived and sat down and we were brought two menus - so had to fight over them. Ordered coffee, then had to get up and go right through the restaurant to the bar as no sugars were brought - same thing happened to the elderly couple sitting next to us. Food was good but the kebabs came with a cardboard solid piece of pitta bread - what is the chef thinking? Food seems overpriced for what it is. Outside seating is OK but you sit on uncomfortable cheap metal chairs on a stone floor which make a terrible noice if anyone moves - seating area is between two high walls so you are best going inside. You just wish you could sit by the bowling green. Last time I went the food came at different times and my side order never appeared so it was off to the bar again... The staff seemed very young - and were trying hard - but there seemed to be no management around. The free parking at the rear is a bonus.

I like Wilsons very much, there is always a nice atmosphere. A couple of points I would make is we thought that the table could have been arranged with at least a table cloth to make it feel that little bit special with it being afternoon tea (a little point I know) and maybe some fine china too instead of thick cream coffee cups? We had to ask for more sandwiches because if we hadn't there was no way there would have been enough, they are finger sandwiches after all and considering there was quite a few of us they just wouldn't have been sufficient. Apart from that it was a lovely afternoon, just a couple of tweeks and it could be fabulous !!

However I'm writing this review (and even created and account) in thanks to Henry and Jack! Jack's cocktails were amazing (His Daiquiri is my mum and mines new fave!) Henry served us our food and his professionalism was fantastic! You don't get service like this in Oswestry! They even did well to impress my dad who never seems to be please! I came back in and although they weren't in, two other waiters were in. (Rob and Liam I believe) One made an impressive Expresso Martini (again the best) and the other was just as good as Henry in serving us food! You do a great job in Wilsons and again the staff are the best I've ever encountered.

Afternoon meal for two. Couldn't fault the speed of service. We were seated, with drinks, orders taken, all within a few minutes. Food arrived quickly, piping hot and delicious. Staff were always within sight and nothing was too much trouble.

We have been regular customers of wilsons for many years and and have never had cause for complaint. However, today we felt the staff were not particularly attentive and were more interested in talking amongst themselves. There was was no table check and we actually cleared up our own plates. Love this place and will return but let's get back to the quality of service we have come to expect.

One day we went with a party of 7 for tapas that although inspired by Spanish tapas have little to do with genuine tapas. The scallops were overcooked and rubbery, the calamari fritti wasn't crisp but the prawns were ok'ish. The tapas are small but priced at £4.50 each or 3 for 12 which is somewhat steep compared to their modest sizes.Another evening we went a party of 3 for the Wilsons Evening Specials - the Friday Special is pizza at £10 per person. For £30 we were served 1 very small tea plate size pizza and another a bit larger to share between two of us along with a small bowl of rocket with no dressing to share between the three of us. We looked at the mini pizzas in disbelief, there was enough for one person, but sharing between 3 was ridiculous. We ate, paid, and went home hungry!Needless to say we won't be returning for anything but drinks. The cocktails and other drinks are nice, but you have to put up with a very busy and extremely noisy bar where the music is often too loud to have a conversation.

On Route to Wales, stop off to grad a light meal and found this lovely place, from the from doesn't look that big but opens up towards the back and on a hot day/night the roof looks like it can be folded back and would be lovely to sit out there then.We ordered 2 lots of the 3 for £12 tapas and were not disappointed. Will stop off again when on route

Popped in for a quick lunch before getting back to work. When we arrived we did explain that we were time constrained and would it be quick, we were reassured and so ordered. Over 30 minutes later our food still had not arrived and eventually after 40 minutes we had to leave with our food in tin foil! When I did get to eat it, mozzarella and tomato panini it was cold but not because it had gone cold but it was never warm in the first place. Dreadful and we still paid in full!! Not sure I would visit again to be honest.

The food was barely cooked and luke warm, the bread was not fresh, I had a steak there were no mushrooms or tomato the salad was a bowl of rocket. My partners burger was very basic which did not reflect the price (no onions) why not? We will not be returning for food any time in the future.

We arrived with our bicycles and were able to sit outside in the courtyard to enjoy an early evening meal. Just a burger and a mozzarella ciabatta with a pot of tea but it was all very tasty. The following morning we went back for coffee, sitting on the front 'pavement watching'.Plenty of room inside though for quiet chats. Clean and comfortable.

Enjoyable start to an evening in town with friends. Friendly service etc. One downfall was selection of drinks available. Need to have larger selection of Gin to offer Gin and tonic options. Just 2 would do. Ended up on beer! Still enjoyable and will return.

Visited with friends for evening meal, it was a lovely venue and staff were polite, professional and attentive. Food was ok and a bit pricey for what we had. It was tasty but nothing special. The venue and staff were definitely better than the food and would revisit for that reason. Perhaps just go for drinks next time.

Where do I start...So many negatives towards your afternoon tea I'm afraid Wilsons definitely need to shape up, No organisation Trying to be too fancy but it's backfiringFirstly there were 4 of us and we waited around 40 minutes for our booked afternoon tea to arrive at our table, The tiered afternoon tea arrived plonked down on the table but there was only enough for 3 people rather than 4, I alerted the staff they just seemed to panic and disappeared We then waited another 10 minutes for them to sort this out, While waiting we discovered that we had been given black currant jam for our scones if you could call them that ( almost as small as a teaspoon no joke) picture to show My partner said his was more like a rock cake!! They had silly little shot glass sized jars with lids on half full of what you would call nothingness. No spoon to eat them with just a knife and folk been set out on table... bit bizarre, half filled with a Little bit of jelly in the bottom then bulked up with cream, didn't taste if much. So these seem to take up most of the middle tier, one of those eachThe finger cakes we did have definitely didn't taste fresh or homemade, if they were they need to find a new baker/chef Seriously...... Only one finger sandwich egg mayonnaise which the bread was cheap white what i call plastic bread and it was dry as a lot of other guests commented on! Overall very disappointed wilsons as we regularly come to wilsons for drinks with friends. But very poor show on the afternoon tea front I'm afraid as said by the other guests we were dining with! Would t be returning!

I have enjoyed many an afternoon having lunch and a few drinks with friends at Wilson's but was very disappointed on my last visit. They have changed the menu since I was last there and not for the better. The choice is now quite basic and not up to the usual standard I would have expected from The Wynnstay and Wilson's. As previously mentioned my Panini was quite tasteless and seemed to be only filled on the edges you could see rather than all the way through. I think they forgot the Parmesan on my Rosemary and Parmesan Fries, they would have also benefited from a few more minutes in the fryer. We had a great afternoon in Wilson's but this was down to the company I was with rather than the food and service, I had to ask for a dessert plates to be taken away!

I went for a meal during a power cut at home. There was very little choice for vegetarians. The panini I picked was obviously bought in, probably straight from the freezer to the grill. It was hot but basically tasteless. It came with a minuscule bowl of salad leaves, and I chose a portion of rosemary and parmesan fries to accompany it. They were really weird - warm, floppy, never seen a fryer and full of tiny bits of rosemary twigs. And I had two cups of coffee. That whole meal came to £16.40 - ludicrously overpriced. The coffee was nice though, and the seats were comfortable. I'd go there again for coffee, but nothing else.

I have been to Wilson's several times with friends and we enjoy it every time. The food is delicious and the staff were extremely accommodating, especially Georgie the waitress who helped us with our offer options on the menu. Would definitely recommend Wilson's to anyone in the Wrexham/ Oswestry area and will be going back myself soon.

Me and my husband went here for a meal out in the evening, on arrival we were welcomed by friendly staff members who welcomed us to our table with a smile, we then decided to try the tapas menu for nibbles to start with. So we had 3 dishes of a variety of different Spanish tapas food for £12. This was outstanding, the taste of the food was amazing. It was delicious, full of flavour and taste, completely stunning. Then we both went on to our main, I had the lasagne, and my husband had the steak. Again I cannot fault anything, both of the dishes were cooked to perfection. It was outstanding the quality of the food and the presentation of them. Afterwards I opted for the White chocolate and orange mousse, it was beautiful. Simply delicious. Stunning presentation again on the desert, the chef here at Wilsons Bar is outstanding!.Overall our whole experience at Wilsons was just 5* we could not of had a better experience. Our waiter for the evening was called Rob, he was very professional from start to finish, he had excellent customer service skills. Polite, and friendly, efficient, and welcoming he was a very welcoming member of staff here at Wilsons. Overall we had a lovely evening here at Wilsons bar. The service was outstanding, the food was simply stunning. The atmosphere was lovely. It was a definite 5* experience, and we will definitely be back again soon.Thank you.Mrs Owen

I must echo the views of others. A really lovely restaurant spoiled by sparrows landing on the the table where cakes are being cut and on uncleared tables. Very unhygienic - there must be a way to stop them coming into the tearooms. Never encountered it anywhere else. Health and safety would have a field day!
